Flashed this the other day. Very happy with the results, especially the improvements to the stock web browser...except it randomly hangs. IE: I can browse to several sites with no problem, then for no reason the browser will stop working. It doesn't crash or force stop, it just won't load the page. The status bar will get stuck like 1/4 of the way and stay there forever. All other internet conencted apps work fine, just the browser stops working. Even Dolphin browser works...it makes no sense. The only way to fix it is to reboot the tab. Then it will be fine for a little while and it will happen all over again.
I was having this problem and only had to close the browser in the recent apps list and then restart the browser and it was ok. Not perfect but workable.
This was on latest Megatron and kernel 16b, then I installed Guevnor 17c kernel last night and so far I am not having this problem but I havent used my TF that much. Lets hope that the problem is gone.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Yeah, I tried removing the browser from the recent apps and it doesn't work. I believe one time I closed the browser, and went and messed with some other apps and came back to it a few minutes later and it worked...but that's not a workable solution lol! No other app loses it's internet connection. I've installed Dolphin HD but I prefer to use the stock browser since there are some compatibility issues with the Dolphin on sites like facebook.
Go into Settings>Apps and find the browser (it doesnt have to be in the "running" list) and hit "force stop"..........
should get you running without having to reboot. experience the same thing aswell.
same issue for me every now and then. Advanced task killer in the quick apps is working for me plus its convenient having it right on the bottom of my screen at all times
I can confirm on mine with kernel 17c that it is giving me no problems - I also put my sdcard back in the dock because all other kernels I was having SOD with the sdcard, now it is working fine.

This was the main reason I went back to the stock based ROMs, All the AOSP roms exhibited this issue for me. None of the kernels made any difference. I am using v22 on revolver now with no issues. Hopefully the AOSP build will figure this out soon.
Honetslty constantly task killing is not a good answer

Try Gummy rom with ics browser+ (free on the market)rather than the stock browser........almost identical browser but better. And Gummy doesnt have any issues for fast browsing, its the fastest of Aosp roms out there - works well with Guevor 22.
Heres a link to the latest nightly 11/06/2012 Gummy Nightly
Flash the kernel straight after the rom then reboot before flashing Gapps
I've seen this happen with every ICS ROM I've tried, at some point or other.
I use chrome beta, stock just doesn't cut it. I used to have a dedicated 'kill browser' button on my statusbar before I made the switch.
I'm having the same problem where it does the hang on all browsers I have tried on Megatron. Also pages are taking forever to load which is incredibly annoying. I am using Guevors' test(the latest)
Well, I tried the few different recommendations here and nothing worked. Not only that, but even Dolphin and Chrome (which sucks anyway) would
become unresponsive and stop loading pages after a few minutes of use. Luckily those didn't require a full reboot to fix but it was still highly annoying to have to kill the browser and go back to whatever I was looking at....which was usually several clicks in to a page. I couldn't deal with it anymore. Flashed revolve 4.1.1 last night with guevors 22.6 kernel. No bubbles no troubles. i tried really hard to like megatron...but after months of dealing with this dumb issue I have moved on. : /

I updated my phone yesterday using the update.zip method via the SD card and I must say I am very annoyed with what it's done to my great phone.
Everything on my phone is now super-laggy and it's driving me crazy. I could deal with this issue if it was isolated to one issue but everything is SLOW:
Screen Rotation is slow and sometimes the wrong layout, wtf?
Power button is slow to respond on wake, about 2 seconds.
SMS list takes a few seconds to populate, new msgs just sit there with a blank screen.
Navigation through the menu's is also slow and laggy.
I've wiped my phone after the initial upgrade and still it doesn't improve the issues I'm having. I haven't checked out the GPS or other features yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they had issues too.
Major thumbs down. With the constant Froyo talk around here you'd think something miraculous was being released, what a pile of ****.
I don't have any of those issues. Did you wipe before you installed? I noticed that when I installed it didn't touch my /data partition, once I saw that I went bck and did it again.

I also have none of those issues. the only issue i have seen is when joining contacts from facebook i get a force close.
Yeah, it's pretty buggy.
It doesn't let me dial *2 for customer service
Its mixed reviews. Mine workes almost perfectly. I'm happy wth it. Others arnt so lucky. Your milage may very.

My suggestion would be to use the rooted with clockwark tar. I was having some strange issues to after doing a .zip update and flashing the modem through Odin. Upon an entirely clean install from Odin it seems much better and my GPS came back.
There ARE a lot of quirks with Froyo. For one, the screen rotation is slow. Also, the browser has checkerboards all over the place.
With the browser, if you want the text to reflow, you have to pinch to zoom in to your desired size and then double tap the screen for the text to reflow and fit the screen. I kind of like that feature myself, but it took me a while to figure it out.
Why are people still using the stock browser anyway when there are better alternatives out there? I use dolphin ever since I had my moment running 1.5.
As far as the rotation, I have no issues with that anymore with DK17 or DK28
I flashed my phone with a zip and it had issues with browser checkers and slow rotation. I flashed my sister's with the full .tar from briefmobile. Hers doesn't have these issue.
Did my flash with the odin tar, and haven't had any problems...

Dolphin is horrendous looking and it takes up half of the screen with its useless junk UI. Stock browser destroys Dolphin.
My point is there are other options then the stock browser, which browser you use is a matter of opinion
I haven't had any problems so far...
wiped 3x, wiped cache, and dalvik.
Flashed rom
wiped 3x, wiped cache, and dalvik.
Flashed rom again.
I use Dolphin HD and its the best i've used imo. Easy swipe for bookmarks, make it fullscreen if you don't like extra "junk ui". Tabs, ability to download audio from streams, skins and addons, you really can't complain. I've noticed the stock broswer doesn't let u change the uAstring?
So..
I just slid my Epic into my $40 SAMSUNG Multimedia dock looking forward to rocking some tunes out on the home stereo using the line out they told us on that little peice of paper in the packaging would work when Froyo is released.
Color me SHOCKED when I hit the play button and music played... Through the phone speaker and not the line out.
Seriously? This irritates me to no end..

I have to agree, I like the minimalistic stock browser. I don't have checker boards..never have noticed em...I have never seen reflow work perfectly on any mobile browser.

How'd you fix it? My screen won't rotate on the home screen unless I pop open the keyboard..yet it works perfectly fine in programs.
Flashed with tar file, keyboard now slow and unresponsive, skips letters every 5-10 strokes, annoying as hell, browser rotation slow.. everything else somewhat fast. gps works.
keyboard issue is a huge thumbs down from me though

It does if you use this modified version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9263247&postcount=57
The UaString is always shown in the menu with this one.
1.Remove stock browser(I used Titanium)
2. Flash this one with recovery
Not having any of the issues mentioned here, I'm on the SPH-D700-DK17-Extended Rom flashed
using Odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853209
My screen doesn't want you shut off with the new update. The screen turns off then back on when the lock screen initiates

UPDATED: Release 5.0.1 fixed the problem. Back to being my favorite browser!
If the update to version 5 of Dolphin HD refuses to load pages or won't load them at all on your A500, please go to our blog and comment with specifics so we can refer them to Dolphin in the next day or two.
I had the same problems with the beta version and uninstalled it immedietly. We want to keep this A500 specific, but are interested to know if other devices are having the same issues.
Please comment here:

We are not doing this to make money, so don't click any ad links while on our site unless you see something you just have to click on. (We only make a penny per click anyway).
Let's make sure Dolphin pays attention to this quickly.

works fine for me. i just dont like using it because it doesnt seem to be able to download any file over 1mb. it just saves the html if its over. so im using opera. seems to be a better browser anyway.

Agree i too using Opera Mobile since it can download anything.
Only negative is no Flash in Opera yet.
It's because that Google hasn't open the Android 3.0 source code.
but it seems that Opera Mobile support HTML5.
Yeah, the update gave me problems, it is sporadic and hard to track down. When it occurs the pages fail to load properly, and I have to force the program stopped (application manager or task manager) to restore it to a functional state.
But, when it is working, it is a very nice update...
Same for me...I tried the Dolphin beta and had all sorts of issues where the pages wouldn't load any more. I uninstalled it and went back to the stock browser, which is working pretty well since the update. The previous Dolphin HD version was awesome.
Yesterday I installed the newest released version of Dolphin HD and am sharing it's use with the stock browser. It seems to be working okay, but I haven't done much surfing in the last day or so.
Update
Go the Dolphin home page and under the goole search bar you will see "page loading disturbing you now?". It appears this issue may have been addressed with a new beta. It has worked for me but I have only been using it for a short while.

Solved it for me. I was having problems with both my HTC Evo 4G and my Acer A500 with v5.0.0.
I have experienced some browser crashes in the past week, on multiple sites, and especially when visiting IGN.com. Its sort of a flash heavy site, but it still happens when I have Flash turned off.
Anyone else having problems with browser crashes? It has happened with both the stock Android Browser as well as Dolphin HD Browser.
yeah lot's of random crashing with default browser, I have installed every browser available but none offer the same as desktop experience. Browsing is (for me) the most disappointing thing about the tablet.
Happens to me quite often. Well happened. If you can live without JavaScript turn it off. Just enable it on sites that you really need. For me the sudden browser closures (not FCs) happend mainly on sites with JavaScripts.
Yes lots of crashes for me as well. I tend to have a lot of tabs open, and it is particularly annoying that there seems to be no way to automatically open up the same set of tabs (anyone know if there is a way to do this)...
same here, getting very tired of having to turn flash and java off to make browswer stable, hell if wanted this i would have bought a ipad2!
Much of the content on good sites is java & flash, for me its only been really bad the last 7 days. Come on android/ Asus, sort it please!

Just did that and both the stock browser and Dolphin HD work MUCH faster and no more FCs. Question--is the Java engine part of android, or is it in the browser? If it is in android, then I guess there is no point in trying other browsers.

holy, I've experience about 10 force closes. My browser doesn't even show the pop up force close notification, it just closes and returns me to my launcher -.-
same here ,really annoying..my nook colors stock browser on cm7 was alot better as well as flash support on it...hopefully soon it ll be adressed...
i just experienced this during the weekend. anyone contact ASUS about this?
this is surely a software issue which can easily be fixed (i hope)
Wow - glad I am not the only one. I really hope this issue gets fixed, its annoying to say the least!
+1
Me too, hope they sort it soon.
I found that clearing my cache through the manage app settings helps me to load a page after a crash. It usually happens if I have over 25 MB worth of cache from previous browsing cessions.
I must be lucky... I've had no problems with my browser at all, I'm very pleased with it.
I Use Dolphin HD. Only Time my Browser Crashes is when My girl uses it and she gets on Tumblr. Weird..
Edit: Oh and it only happens after a While of use on that web Site.
Guys, I just turned off the fast scrolling in the advanced menu and it's stopped crashing. Can anyone else test?
so far so good. Crossing my fingers.

I also have that problem time to time, when it's stuck i switch to another browser but after a while that stops loading too, did the wipe also
I have had the same problem. I would try the Aokp rom. Build 30. Build 31 drained my battery.
Set plugins to On demand. This works for me.
For me it's also the flash plugin making trouble. As suggested setting it to on demand helps.
When the browser stops loading, close all tabs, exit to the homescreen and whipe the browser from the recent apps list. This helps sometimes and sometimes you have to do it twice but the browser should start working again.
thanks! il try setting the plugin on demand XD
Dear All,
Have had the nexus 10 for a few weeks now and love it. Recently though, the tablet has been freezing quite a bit. Usually happens when I am browsing the web. In these instances I have to reboot to get the tablet functional again. Anyone else experience this and if so any suggestions on how to fix the issue? Also how do I check for updates on the nexus 10. The normal About Tablet field under settings does not seem to have the system update option anymore.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
CJ
Check some other threads, I read a lot of people are having reboot/freeze issues whilst using the browser, some have suggested
methods like not upgrading to 4.2.1 and disabling some 2D GPU.
did do a search

I did do a search but it did not provide a clear solution. Some people have said that they removed HD widgets. What widgets are these purple referring to? Also what do you mean when you say disable 2DGPU?
Finally, where is the system updates option in the Jelly bean?
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

Basically, it seems to be related to Google Location Services & some apps that use that... You could turn off location services unless needed in Settings... Or you could use a custom ROM... Most custom ROMs include fixes not yet included in stock...
I've got the same issue I have my Gps and location off and I still get reboot in chrome and dolphin browser. Sometimes it freezes during Google play app updates and downloads.
Could be an app could be the os , not hardware so it will get fixed eventually.

I'm sorry to disappoint you guys, but on my Nexus ten running CM 10.1-20130205-NIGHTLY-manta i got a freeze and reboot 10 minutes ago.
The wireless bug also does not seem to be fixed. On google Hangouts my wifi connection drops after a few minutes and gets back in seconds, enough for g+ to disconnect from the hangout.
Google needs to fix this soon. Makes the tablet very unusable sometimes -.-
i got no reboot issue at all since the first day
running stock firmware and build number is JOP40F
In latest CM10.1 build 20130205 seems fixed hang or restart issue for me.
Disable Currents and don't use Chrome. Worked for me.
