same here
I also have that problem time to time, when it's stuck i switch to another browser but after a while that stops loading too, did the wipe also

I have had the same problem. I would try the Aokp rom. Build 30. Build 31 drained my battery.

Set plugins to On demand. This works for me.

For me it's also the flash plugin making trouble. As suggested setting it to on demand helps.
When the browser stops loading, close all tabs, exit to the homescreen and whipe the browser from the recent apps list. This helps sometimes and sometimes you have to do it twice but the browser should start working again.

thanks! il try setting the plugin on demand XD

Froyo Update: Browser Crashing on Flash Sites...Fix?

Been using the 10.1 release that's been out for about a month and a half... Installed the froyo update and now browser crashes on all flash websites..
Checked the app list..
The 8.00mb Flash Player is still installed and not the 54.00kb version..
How to fix please..?
Thanks
~Opti
Wow this is new to me, are you using the default browser? If you are can you try a different browser such as Dolphin HD to see if you have the same issue, you may need to just flash the rom again if that's the case.....
@jahnile> Same in Dolphin...

I was just on CNN and it worked perfect via the default browser. Got a site that takes it down?
Mine works just fine. Only thing i've noticed is that sometimes the page scrolling is a little choppy. Not very smooth and when scrolling the flash items on the page flicker.
According to androidPolice.com this is not the final Froyo build from HTC so maybe the "final" release on Tuesday will be smoother.
You need to factory reset your phone. I had the same problem and that fixed for me.

Had same issue just factory reset and u will b good 2 good

Does factory reset wipe anything(personal data related).. Do i need to back anything up?
Yes it will wipe your personal data.
I would wait till the 3rd and see if there is a changelog on what is released that day, then hard reset if needed. Mine is plagued with all the same issues everyone else is having
Browser dragging
double tap zoom dragging
browser crashing randomly
awake time issue
Random laggyness
Horrible Battery life
Apps running in the background and even after stopping, they come right back
I will just wait and if this is the final, then I will have to do what I have to do and hard reset. I'll just backup with sprite Backup first, so I don't lose everything.
Just decided to go with the factory reset.. browser is working now... will check the change log on sprints OTA to see whether to use theirs on the 3rd.
To fix the slow dragging issue in the browser change the setting "Enable plugins" to "On demand." This will require a click to load flash content and therefore will not render all those annoying flash ads that slow down the browswer.

Tried the factory reset and still crashes on certain sites lots of work for no payoff lol
On CM6 here. Flash is working fine for me, just checked Hulu. The browser does crash rarely but I don't think that has a relation to flash.

Apps keep closing unexpectedly, not force closing.

Android 2.2(leaked version)
Kernel 2.6.32 hydra ocov ov v10
Build 3.17.605.0 cl220374
With that said, when I'm using an app after a period of time, the app will close and I am brought back to the home screen. Its not a force close, it simply just goes to home screen. When I open the app back up, its as if I was never there. No data is saved at all. It seems to happen more with the browser than anything. Any ideas of Whats going on? Its very frustrating when I'm surfing the web and the browser keeps closing.

It's a known issue with overclocking too high. Knock it down some and your browser will stop closing.

I recently have had this issue. I tried rebooting the phone but it doesnt solve it. Mine actually goes to the home screen after a couple seconds when im in the people app.
verry annoying.
I recently had it rooted by a friend. Not sure of the specifics but I did a search and i cant seem to find anything on this unexpected default to the home screen except for this thread.
-Droid Incredible
-2.2
-kernal 2.6.32.15-gb7b01d1
-build 3.21.605.1
anyone?
Changing the VM heap size to 32m was the only thing that stopped the browser closing for me. It closed even when I first got the phone with unmodified sense 2.1 and 2.2. If you still have the issue at stock clock speed this worked for me.
Haven't understood a thing... I have this problem with my browser and musixmatch app... How can I fix it? I have lollipop custom rom installed :/

Browser constantly force closes

My stock browser force closes CONSTANTLY. Doesnt matter how many apps I have open or how many reboots I do, it forces closes AT LEAST 50% of the time I use it - which is often. Any ideas?!

This has happened to me ever since I installed the flash app. This wasn't occurring on the leaked flash app I downloaded last week. You are not the only one. Facebook seems especially force close on me.
Anyone else having this issue?
i too have the same issue. a lot of force closes, but this was happening even when i had leaked flash.
seems like the browser is having a lot of issues.
force closing, clearing data, and deleting cache doesn't seem to fix it neither.
Very odd. I am running stock, locked with the leaked flash and I don't think I have ever had a FC.
posted from my Xoom. Using the thumbkeyboard.
stock, locked, and yes, force closes all the time. Facebook especially. I had the leaked Flash, but only use it on demand. I had switched over to Dolphin browser, but now that I have the released Flash I'll give it another go.
Do you folks have the Labs -> Quick Controls on? I noticed a lot more FCs after using that option.
change plugins to on demand in settings/advanced.Any plugin you want to load on the page just click the green down arrow
noticed the same thing. Probably why its still a lab feature.
I've been having the browser lock up, and I mean become non-responsive without even a force close. Only good way to recover is to reboot. And this started happening before I installed Flash.
Not sure what's going on, but it seemed to start after updating to 3.0.1.

Yes. I was using quick controls. I'll shut that off and see what happens.

No I do not use the Quick Controls but browser closes all the time.
I haven't had a single browser FC yet. If it is like the app FC, there is a report button. I hope that everyone that has a FC in the browser is using this? If it is a consistent FC, please post the website address here so others can verify and also report the FC. The more the merrier.

Funny.. browser has crashed, but no fc. Just off.. restated with no open tabs. Odd
That happens to me once in a while on weird websites like launching a twitpic url from Twitter. Launching it again worked fine.
Just buggy stuff I guess.
I have had the browser just crash to the home screen with no FC several times. This usually happens when I have activated the flash plug in on a web page for a few minutes.

Android 3.2 - No default picker screens!

Hi Guys,
Just hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.
I flashed to 3.01 US stock from UK in order to get the updates. I updated twice to 3.2.
What I'm noticing now is that if I click on a link, that launches an associated app (browser for instance), I used to get a screen jump up and ask which app I wanted to use. So if I'd installed Firefox, Dolphin and got Stock, it would give me the option if I hadn't yet set a default.
Since 3.2 when I click the link, the screen fades out, but the options aren't showing to select which means I can't launch the link/app.
The fix is to uninstall any relevant applications until I only have one app that can launch said link, then reinstall, and I get the option again.
Anyone had this or know how to fix without reinstalling everything?
Hope that made sense....very tired so it might not have done
I had the problem I hope u didn't set Firefox or dolphin as ur default browser what I did was erase all data now I have dolphin and the default drowser all working fine here

This issue has been discussed, but there are two simple ways to solve it without having to reinstall everything.
1) Simply wait and eventually it will fix itself. I know this sounds strange but it will eventually work. I am not generally patient so this one did not work for me.
2) With Autorotate ON, simply rotate the Xoom so that it has to redraw the "picker" screen. Do this when the screen dims and nothing is showing up. I have found that once you do this once for any particular file type you do not need to do it a second time.
I too was reinstalling apps to get the screen to show up, but even that did not always work.
I had the same problem and it seemed to only manifest itself after I re-installed all my apps from Tiamat/Xoom Zone with Titanium Backup. I'm not sure which app was the culprit but after uninstalling Scripter and aLogcat it started working perfect.
Hope this helps!
Same Issues !!
With opera Mobile and MoboPlayer !

Will certainly check these options out. Are you saying that in the first instance, when the screen dims.,...if I left it long enough, it would appear?
Has this been put to Google on their Bugs page,....as Bugs go...it's an annoying one
The Asus Transformer has the exact same problem. makes me think it could be more of a HC3.2 bug now after seeing this thread than device related.
Worse after you think you have fixed the problem every time you turn the device off and then on again on the problem begins again if you have multiple apps that can load a file or link like a web browser (I use multiple). If you have one app or set one app to be the default then you don't have the problem ....with that file or link
Easy to reset by rotating the screen ..but each time you turn on?
Question........
has anyone fixed this with a factory reset?
Factory reset will not fix this . Other browsers , media players and file managers somehow cause the problems .

Browser hang with Megatron ICS CM9?

Flashed this the other day. Very happy with the results, especially the improvements to the stock web browser...except it randomly hangs. IE: I can browse to several sites with no problem, then for no reason the browser will stop working. It doesn't crash or force stop, it just won't load the page. The status bar will get stuck like 1/4 of the way and stay there forever. All other internet conencted apps work fine, just the browser stops working. Even Dolphin browser works...it makes no sense. The only way to fix it is to reboot the tab. Then it will be fine for a little while and it will happen all over again.
I was having this problem and only had to close the browser in the recent apps list and then restart the browser and it was ok. Not perfect but workable.
This was on latest Megatron and kernel 16b, then I installed Guevnor 17c kernel last night and so far I am not having this problem but I havent used my TF that much. Lets hope that the problem is gone.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Yeah, I tried removing the browser from the recent apps and it doesn't work. I believe one time I closed the browser, and went and messed with some other apps and came back to it a few minutes later and it worked...but that's not a workable solution lol! No other app loses it's internet connection. I've installed Dolphin HD but I prefer to use the stock browser since there are some compatibility issues with the Dolphin on sites like facebook.
Go into Settings>Apps and find the browser (it doesnt have to be in the "running" list) and hit "force stop"..........
should get you running without having to reboot. experience the same thing aswell.
same issue for me every now and then. Advanced task killer in the quick apps is working for me plus its convenient having it right on the bottom of my screen at all times
I can confirm on mine with kernel 17c that it is giving me no problems - I also put my sdcard back in the dock because all other kernels I was having SOD with the sdcard, now it is working fine.

This was the main reason I went back to the stock based ROMs, All the AOSP roms exhibited this issue for me. None of the kernels made any difference. I am using v22 on revolver now with no issues. Hopefully the AOSP build will figure this out soon.
Honetslty constantly task killing is not a good answer

Try Gummy rom with ics browser+ (free on the market)rather than the stock browser........almost identical browser but better. And Gummy doesnt have any issues for fast browsing, its the fastest of Aosp roms out there - works well with Guevor 22.
Heres a link to the latest nightly 11/06/2012 Gummy Nightly
Flash the kernel straight after the rom then reboot before flashing Gapps
I've seen this happen with every ICS ROM I've tried, at some point or other.
I use chrome beta, stock just doesn't cut it. I used to have a dedicated 'kill browser' button on my statusbar before I made the switch.
I'm having the same problem where it does the hang on all browsers I have tried on Megatron. Also pages are taking forever to load which is incredibly annoying. I am using Guevors' test(the latest)
Well, I tried the few different recommendations here and nothing worked. Not only that, but even Dolphin and Chrome (which sucks anyway) would
become unresponsive and stop loading pages after a few minutes of use. Luckily those didn't require a full reboot to fix but it was still highly annoying to have to kill the browser and go back to whatever I was looking at....which was usually several clicks in to a page. I couldn't deal with it anymore. Flashed revolve 4.1.1 last night with guevors 22.6 kernel. No bubbles no troubles. i tried really hard to like megatron...but after months of dealing with this dumb issue I have moved on. : /
