It finally out. Goto http://www.my-xda.com/xda2i_soft.html
The latest XDA IIi System Software is available for you to download. New and changed in this version of software, v1.11.162 are:
O2 Music Player (for use by O2 UK customers only)
Updated O2 Active UI
General Operational updates, improving device stability and connectivity management.
Guys, im uploading it for you to the FTP so imate users can use it etc, as you dont have an o2 IMEI.
I don't think I will bother !
The update instructions are a NIGHTMARE ! - including 2 full hard resets and all your date , progs settings etc being lost .
It took me hours on the phone to BT to get my internet settings working on my Pay As You Go sim card.
It all works like a dream now .
Is there a good reason for updating ??
I also notice that 02 have taken the opportunity to remove all mention of blackberry from their website.
Yup still no blackbery support
But we finally get o2 music player
And it does seem more stable
The radio version was only 1.0 so i kept on my imate radio rom 1.03
Works well so far tho.
What does the music player do better than the existing Windows media player ??
Has anyone installed this yet and if so Have you tried TT5 and does it solve the GPRS freeze problem?
Cheers
Lee
o2 music player allows UK customers to download and preview music tracks for 1pound each.
Ill test the gps with tt5 and post my results.

If that is the only thing then there is no point in upgrading.
Music is more or less free for download on the internet anyway.
Has update sorted GPRS connection problems?
Anyone tried it yet?
It claims "General Operational updates, improving device stability and connectivity management. "
So does this include the GPRS thing?
Had a look, the imate rom seems to be better. OS is radio 1.0.0, imate is 1.0.3
Did anyone also notice that all mention of Blackberry Connect has been removed from the XDA IIi specs page...
They are going to most likley not release the blackberry connect then. It will be released with the HTC Universal which I will have before anyone else....Muhahahaha  In the states that is
how do you put the imate ROM on it? I can't get it to install as it goes on about incorrect country etc
I emailed them yesterday about the lack of blackberry on their website and recieved this reply :

Good morning
Thank you for your e-mail
At this moment in time the software for Blackberry connect is being developed, and hopefully will soon be released. Unfortunately we cannot give you an exact timescale for this, but details will be posted on our XDA website www.my-xda.com when available.
A change request form has been put in to remove the dates from the website
If you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us, we will be more than glad to help.
Kind regards

- Upgrading rom's will ALWAYS nuke your settings - it's a damn reflash of the device to factory status, and has been since 2002
- Pay and Go has never been formally supported by O2 on Xda series

Ok, so since T-Mobile and Cingular (here in America) want to ban the use of AIM 2.0 on the Pocket PC, and instead, use their service (which charges 10cents an IM), I was wondering if anyone has worked on a hack to fix this.
Basically, both companies have done something to the software, in which when AIM is installed, it will not allow you to sign on. Please note... I am NOT looking for a replacement suggestion for AIM, I am looking for the AIM program itself. There has to be SOME sort of way around this tweak, and I am truly hoping one of the many genius minds that browse this forum would be so kind enough as to help.
do you some sort of error or it just doesnt send
have you tried agile..? it has all the instant messengers
Hello!
This is what I use, and I don't seem to get 10 cents a IM.
Just unzip the cab and transfer it to your device and install!
*Edit* I am in the USA also, just so ya'know.
Agile messenger would be your best bet.
It acts a service and send text messages to your phone instead of the actually message. Just as long as you have a text plan you should be fine.
I prefer Verichat to Agile. The only draw for Agile right now is that it's free, but it's beta. The beta version of Agile likes to crash a lot. Verichat is on th expensive side, but I think it's worth it.
Go here, aol.co.uk and download the aim version for mobile. It's free as compared to installing the EXACT SAME VERSION from the U.S. aol.com which they want $19.99 for. The installer has capabilities for installing on a wide range of pocket pc's, as well as ones with MIPS and ARM processors.
The link once again is aol.co.uk
Good luck!
They charge $20 for that chunk of crap?!? That thing barely functioned under 2003 3 years ago.

i thought agile uses internet?
I was under that impression also. Then I read around on the internet and people were saying that it does indeed act as a gateway to thier servers and sens txt messages back and forth.
Now after your reply and I checked to make sure, I'm finding both answers...So I'm not sure anymore.

Awesome!! That works amazing!
Is the start bar inverted to get it to work here?
Because I remember trying aim before and the thing wouldn't work right but the start bar wasn't on the bottom like this one.
Is it hacked or something?
Very nice though. Thanks!

My son and I both use Agile on our 8125's with a data plan. Agile useage goes against the kb/data, NOT the text messaging. You have to be connected to the internet to use Agile -- either through WiFi or GPRS.
We've NEVER been charged for text messaging using Agile.
Great! I can cancle my text message plan.

There is but it won't work on WM5...
Unless some one can hack it like that above AIM program to move the WM5 start bar to the bottom when the program is active.
Let me break it down for you gentlemen...
Basically what's been happening (here in the east coast of the US at least) is Pocket PC phones have been becoming increasingly more powerful. Obviously, T-Mobile and Cingular are no dummies to waves, so they started to release some of their own. But in an attempt to garner more money, they've been releasing their own versions of AIM, which basically charge the user a text per message (sent or received). In addition, they basically disabled the old AIM 2.0, which was (and still is) highly popular amongst Pocket PCs that aren't branded, or simply don't have a phone equipped in them.
That button on the button that says "Sign On"? It's not there anymore. Neither is the File or Edit menus. There's something embedded in the registry that doesn't allow the usesr to use this version of AIM... which is why I created this topic to begin with.
Now as I stated originally, I wasn't looking for alternatives to AIM 2.0 on the Pocket PC... I like this version a lot. Back when I was using my unbranded i-mate Jam, I suppose I've gotten inclined to using this version more. I've tried Agile Mobile, but it is still way too buggy for me to want to use as my end-all be-all to AIM. And it's missing a lot of features I've grown used to with AIM 2.0. Other IM clients cost money for something I think should be freely distributed.
To anyone using an i-mate K-Jam, or a QTek 9100... this post simply doesn't apply to you. You picked up your phone unbranded, meaning you have no restrictions from your carrier. And I envy you because of that. But since I'm cheap and I'm getting my Cingular 8125 for $50, I'm trying to figure out some workaround to the situation. Hopefully someone can figure out a hack soon.
MightyMegit ... how certain are you that the program you posted doesn't use texts? Does it use data? I don't have a Wizard yet (hopefully within the next 24 hours), so I'm not able to test it out myself.
Anyway, thanks guys for your help, but I really want my AIM 2.0 back. I wish all you developers luck!!!
thanks for the clarification. i started using the aim 2.0 yesterday.
No wonder i noticed to menus or sign on options. What i do i select "stock quotes" or w.e and that signs me on.
It looks just like aim on pc and has aim sounds so i like the look of it. There just isnt options
Hey all,
I have been using Agile Messenger since june or so..so far I have downloaded "new version" of the app into my phone twice. The last one is really cool and I have been using it for about two weeks w/o any probs, but when I turned the app on yestreday, it displayed message "Thanks for trying this trial version, you have 7 days left". Is Agile Messenger not free anymore? And if it's not, do you think I could continue using one of the older versions? Thx for any suggestions Longlife
Having the same problem, the subscription fee is pretty high.
Don't know about the old versions...
Eelco
I think I have the old version of Agile. If you guys want, you can try it and let us know if it will work or if we actually have to pay after the trial period.
its not problem its normal agile done same thing with symbian version now they will ask you to pay for windows mobile version. it is undestandable because with agile u use their server but anyway i belive messenger live will be here soon and it will be better than agile, so no need to pay for agile
The old version I had stopped working
I had the old version and had been using that. I started getting messages when I would start it up that a new version was available. I kept saying "no" but eventually after saying that it came back and said I needed to upgrade to the new version if I wanted to continue to use Agile. That's when I finally upgraded, but then when I got the "You have 7 days left" message and looked closer to find that the new version had a monthly charge, I went ahead and removed it from my Universal.
I can somewhat understand them charging for it, and would have been willing to pay a one time purchase fee, or MAYBE a smaller monthly fee, but the rates I saw looked high for just one app. No thanks.

Too bad Thx eveyrone for your answers though I agree that the fees for using Agile are way too high, if it was like 20 USD for the app with all the future upgrades, I would probably buy it but this way... Anyway, just one more question: which free messenger capable of connecting to ICQ would you recommend instead of Agile plz?
No response from Agile
I wrote them a message via the address at the agile website asking if there would be any way to buy the software outright. It has been over a week and there has been no response. I really like the software. I would be willing to pay for it, but I do not like software subscriptions.
I am more bothered by the lack of response to my message though. It shows me that there will be no customer support for a program that they will continue to collect money for.
does the latest version look better on VGA? Still haven't updated my version... They shouldn't charge if it doesn't work well on our devices. I have no problem buyin it as long as it displays properly [I sent agile an email asking about VGA support but did not get a response *no surprises there*]
Good bye Agile
Been using Agile on my Symbian Nokias since 4 years and the same thing happened 2 years ago. Suddenly they asked for monthly subscription of 3 € via SMS or 19 € forever, but locked to the SIM card, I have 4 of them in different countries of Europe so I wrote to them then and they replied like they would let me on all for SIMs but I gave up Nokia as well as Agile on it.
Now I see that they have came up with something even crazier like monthly, HIGH, subscription, charging for the service rather then the software itself!?!
I am sorry, I like Agile very much, but I will never agree to the terms they are asking... and I think that their PPC version is far from ready...
Good bye Agile...
Ok, I tried to find a freeware alternative to Agile Messenger..and guess what? I found one. It's by ICQ.com and it's pretty cool, I didn't fully explore it yet but it seems to offer most of the latest Agile's features. You can download it from here:

I'm sorry, as I only use ICQ, I forgot to mention that this app only supports ICQ, not AIM, Yahoo, MSN or anything else..which is a considerable disadvantage compared to Agile as I now see.
About the CAB file - I don't have it and I didn't manage to find it anywhere, but maybe you will
Aynway, I played with the application a bit and discovered that it:
- doesn't support landscape mode (which is pretty sad)
- supports Invisible, Occupied, DND, N/A and Away statuses (without entering custom status messages though)
- works with groups
- allows you to change your account details
- doesn't let you close conversation windows (at least I didn't find a way to do so..but it's pretty weird I'd say )
- has a cool but probably not so useful feature that downloads latest stock-exchange rates
- has VERY ugly smileys (IMO)
But depsite it's several disadvantages, I'd say it still remains a nice (and free) way to chat with your ICQ contacts on the go.
Oh and btw, if you want an all-in-one IM client and are willing to pay, check this: http://mobile.lockergnome.com/product.asp?id=248
It looks pretty good and you can get it for 40 USD for ever, not like with Agile where you have to pay 30 USD every year. It's still too expensive for me though
I've tried Shape IM+ as well it seems nice but my provider has blocked it! Can't connect using 3G/UMTS/GPRS works fine with WiFi and Activesync passthru. Oh I only use the Yahoo component.
thanks for post up the info
new PPC-based freeware ICQ client on the scene!
Ok, so here's another update on the topic
A few days ago, I discovered that QIP (russian closed-source freeware ICQ client; www.qip.ru) had released a PPC version of their program. I have downloaded it straight away and I must say that it's by far the best ICQ client for the PocketPC platform..well..that's just my opinion but I'm pretty sure most people will agree once they try it out It supports most of the PC-based-QIP's functions including various statuses (incl. invisible, invisible for all, custom statuses with pictures and others), several sets of smileys (standard, animated, text), complete contact information etc. etc. Be sure to check it out on www.qip.ru

A good news for DOPOD U1000 user, there is a ROM update for our device soon. i will get it by end of next week. From what i heard, the update doesn't concentrate on bug fix, it's more of a bonus pack with small fix for our device.
Don't confuse this with the singapore ROM update, it's different, the one you will get from this bonus pack is newer and not the same. The update from singapore DOPOD is even older the the original ROM ship by DOPOD Taiwan.
The ROM will only be included in the extra accessories pack which apparently isn't for sell at the moment. I have manage to buy 5 of them through my internal contact, will keep one for myself, and the rest will be available for you guys to buy if you want, or i will post it up on ebay.
I am not 100% sure what is included in the pack since i haven't got it yet, but here is a rough guide:
Car charger, Car Mount, Business Card recognize software, Backup software, GPRS Monitor, 2G miniSD with Navigation software (Papago, which is a asian version of TomTom, i have heard that TomTom is base on that program).
Rom update will include MyConnect (don't know what is that)
and RSS Home Plug In, Unlimited Live Music listen on internet (for a short period, then you have to join the member), Quick Mark (something what makes our camera to read Bar Code i think)+some system tweak and fix(not much i think).
****This Rom Update will only be available in this bonus pack, won't be available for download on internet*****
Now, they told me the market price for this bonus pack is £100, the price i can get you is £70 including shipping. Not a bad deal i think if you look at the price for car mount and car charger plus miniSD card. And this is official car mount and charger specially design for Athena you are getting btw.
I only have 4 available, and there is no way to get any more as well, so i will take a first come first serve here, once is out then is out.
PM me for payment and more details.
p.s. I will keep you guys up to date what is exactly in the box.
*****Bonus pack means it doesn't fix any major big issue in our device, it just provide extra service and application....and accessories. So don't ask my to upload the Rom, i can't do that. *****
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update on my gift pack, now i have it in front of me !
From the picture you can see there are lots of CDs included and manuals, and also a nice (specially for Athena) car mount, and also a car charger with very high class HTC logo on it, and also a 2G miniSD.
Now what's inside the disk, here it is:
Disk 1: GPS software (call PAPAGO), not too usefull unless you live in asia or planning to travel to asia, it's like the TOMTOM in europe.
Disk 2: ROM Update, you need to do a hard reset to flash this ROM, the ROM version is newer but i am not quite sure what is the main changes, don't see any addition feature at the moment, but personally, the device feel faster then before. maybe the windows build is newer.
Disk 3: GPRS Monitor and Sprite Backup (well, no much to say about these, you should all know this software already, btw, they are in chinese, so no idea what will happen if you install it on english device.)
Disk 4: Penpower World Card ( business card recognize software) in ENGLISH and it works really well (amazing! , simply take a photo of any business card and it will decode and store all the info into your contacts)
KKBOX , (Online Live Music station, works really well, it has a very large collection, simply select type of music, singer, then it will show you all the albums and you can click play to play them or download them to you device to listen) but this software is in chinese.....
DOPOD RSS Reader (this also has a today plug in so you will see your most updated news on your today screen, nice!) works good and is in english
My Connect (this is like Vodafone live, you can get so much online service here, e.g. Live radio, Live TV, ring tone download, wallpaper, GPS Photo (at the moment you can only download, next ROM update will enable the GPS photo function so we can take it outself)). This is in chinese, with some english on as well(strange) anyway, it does work.
QuickMark (kind of a bar code reader, which allow our device to read bar code and decode it).
That it, this is what you get for the bonus pack, only 2 left....pm me for question. I am off now to watch the live TV from my device
Wu what is the car mount like? can you send me a picture or post it here please, once you get it.

As far as the new ROM goes, it is already in the Dopod site. I don't think there is any major upgrade cause i haven't tried it out yet.
And for the bonus pack, the car mount, bt headset and some extra items (which i forgot cause i haven't received mine yet) is offered as a free gift from SIS. At this point i'm not sure whether there is any software bundled with the free gift, will update once i got mine.

no problem, just a reminder to people who want to update this ROM. And also to point out this isn't the ROM update you will get from the bonus pack.

yes i have mention this before, they are also releasing this as a commercial package to people to buy, that is the package i got, content might be different, but not sure. Also content might be different on different country as well. I have heard nothing about iPod and monitor. Looks like it's only in singapore.
for people getting their pack in singapore, what is it exactly inside ?

Pls., give us this zip file with Singapore ROM. I would still prefer to have an older ROM but in pure english than in my case a dutch rom.

that ROM is an update only. What you need is a complete ship WWE rom, which is available on net, just do a search on it.
Hi I have an issue with Copilot 8 and havent managed to find a thread in here that mentions the issue I have.
I have the following versions
OS 5.2.21869
Manilla 2.5.19211619.0
ROM 1.48.405.2 WWE
Radio 2.05.51.05_2
I replaced the original 2GB SD card with an 8GB, and used the 2gb card in my daughters Nintendo DS, blatting everything on it.
Now I fancy trying Copilot, and whilst I can run the app, I cannot download any maps as it thinks I am in Africa (or only have permission to download those maps).
This is the same for Copilot Central and on the device, if i try to download anything else it just says "Error downloading files", for the African one it gives me a second screen asking me to confirm.
Am I missing something here? Or is it because I deleted the "trial" version maps on my SD card?
I have 15 days left on the trial to fix this :-S
Hope someone has had the same issue??

You need to get in touch with CoPilot support for help with this. They're a bit slow I'm afraid, so don't hold your breath.

Ok will do, not exactly a glowing start to the relationship before parting with £26 for their product is it
May be you should start making a move over there sorry had to say that. Good luck with the problem

Very true, but I think it's worth it. I love CoPilot and for £26 you can't really complain can you!
Good luck mate

Agreed. However I bought CP7 early last year (I think) and it cost me nearly £60! I wrote to them recently asking if I could transfer my licence across rather than pay £26 for a new package when CP7 is perfecly adequate and they refused.
Fair do's I suppose, as they have got to make some money somewhere but disappointed nevertheless. The "get in lane" improvements in CP8 are worth it as I use this system in my car. However seeing that I have not yet had the full benefit out of the package I paid for last year I can't justify the extra expense and then have a whole package lying around doing nothing.
Shame.
WB
I think they are getting confused somewhere!
There is absolutely nothing to prevent you cancelling the license on one device then reactivating it on another one. The only thing they won't do, and this maybe where the confusion arose, is to transfer a license between platforms (WM -> Apple/Andoid and vice versa)
If you still have CPL on the original device, you can go into the Licensing screen and select to deactivate it. This needs an internet connection. Once deactivated, install the program on the new device and go through the online activation. If that doesn't work, complain again to ALK. There is no compulsion to upgrade to relicense the program.
Had the same issue with my trial. CoPilot sent me this link and it says just to copy the copilot folder to the memory card.

That's the maps - not the application. We're looking for an installer for the app.
Worth keeping a note of this though - thanks
That's funny. My CoPilot Central 2.0 thinks I'm in Africa, too. When I used the KML-export function of my GPS-Tracks, that I had no use for, the only coordinates the KML-file contained were two hundred miles off the coast of Ghana in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

That's latitude: 0, longitude: 0. I.e, no data.

Thats the link that got mine working, I still had the ROM version loaded on my HD2.
Now I can see what the product is like, the screenshots look pretty nice. Ive got an inbuilt satnav in the car, but for £26 I'd be tempted to get this as a walking aid.

Same here, I have factory fitted satnav in the car but I got co-pilot after the trial ended, as you say if you just use it as a walking aid, you can't go wrong for £26.

Neil,
Thanks for the heads up. To be honest ALK make a great product but their Customer Service is diabolical. Rather than spend hours exchanging increasingly meaningless messages with them in that fixed format template format they are so fond of using which is so irritating and tells you absolutely nothing, I simply ditched all the CP8 folders on my device (bar the rom files which I can't move) and installed my paid for CP7.
Saves a whole load of hassle, from my perspective, and it works just fine.

Right anyone got any idea how to make the poxy Copilot Central software think i am in Europe? That still insists i am in Africa.... lord above, one step forward, two steps back and all that!!

Long shot but if you are trying to access CP Central from a PC, why don't you set-up a proxy server or use some other method to "hide" your IP address which might help solve the problem?
I have never done this for this purpose so it's unusual for me to recommend an action I have not tried myself; however if no one else has a better answer and you can't get CP Support to help then might be worth a go?

Let us know how you get on. If it works then this would be a useful tip for others. If it doesn't then they don't have to waste their time on this.

I have raised the question with the support team, will update post in a month when they reply!! Although to be fair they came back within 2 hours on the Africa thing on the HD2 with the link to the software.

Don't bother with the Copilot support "contact form". It's totally useless, and they'll probably never reply. Instead send a "tweet" to http://twitter.com/copilotsupport/ or http://twitter.com/copilotlive/. That usually gets an answer within 24 hours.
