Galaxy Note UK T-Mobile SMS issue - help - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hi UK Note users with T-mobile,
I don't know whether you also have the same problem: the note can receive SMS but cannot send SMS when it is in T-mobile orange signal, I wil have to manually change it back to t-mobile before SMS can be sent. Could please somebody offer a solution for this isssue/bug? Thanks in advance.

Mine has been fine on several stock roms. My phone came sim free. Is yours locked and are you using stock radio etc?

I have a similar problem. SMS says its sent but there is a spinning circle next to the message. The recipient gets some messages but others turn up later. Having read the T-Mobile help pages, I think you have to turn on data roaming. This is what I am going to turn today. But remember to turn it off if you go abroad.

Thanks for your reply. The phone is originally from O2 monthly tariff (unlocked). I simply use my t-mobile SIM card. The current Android version is 2.3.6, firmware version is 2.6.35.7-N7000xxkka, it is rooted. I am using handcent SMS app but the stock SMS app has the same problem. The data roaming is ON already.

Thanks for your reply, it is with official rom, rooted. Problem still exist.

Still doing the same thing, says sent but icon spinning when connected to T-Mobile Orange. It re sends later once its back on the T-Mobile only signal. so the person gets 2 sms messages :-(

Don't want to step too far out of my knowledge here but not had a problem at all on the sim free version, but worth installing the Carphone Warehouse rom from development?

No problems here.
This will sound stupid but try outting in another network sim. Booting up and installing the seyting from that network. Then outting your tmob sim back in and reinstalling the settings.
Works to solve quite a few probs on samsung ohones

I'm on T-Mobile here and not noticed any issues as it switches between it and Orange. I use Go SMS, everything works fine for me, but round here the T-Mobile signal is generally pretty good.

Me too I'm on T-Mobile and mostly use T-Mobile-Orange Signal as we have orange transmitters in place at work.
Never had an issue at all..
I too use Go SMS though...
Try that maybe.

Have you tried to re-set your SMSC? (SMS Message Center)
Couldn't find anymore the thread on XDA explaining it, but found this link : http://blog.empirion.co.uk/android/setting-the-smsc-sms-message-centre-in-android-ics/
Give it a try

Have you tried t-mobile page for sending settings to your phone?
http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-support/index?page=home&cat=SOFTWAREDOWNLOADS
Worked for me on another phone where i needed internet settings.
On the note i have used many ICS roms recently and never had issue with sending sms.

I think mine is fixed, following the advice above, I swapped out my sim for a Vodafone one, then after it booted, switched off and put my T-Mobile sim back in, now sending once only.

Solved!

Its Smspopup causing the problem for me. Disabled and all is well.

Mine is an O2 contract Note that came unlocked and unbranded. I'm almost constantly on T-Mobile-Orange (much to my annoyance) but I never have any issues sending SMS. I currently use Chomp SMS but I've also used stock and GoSMS with the same success. Is your SIM card particularly old? That's the only thing I can think might be the problem unless there's some weird fault with your phone but it seems unlikely. The only other thing is that perhaps there's a fact with the Orange transmitter in your area. Does the problem occur elsewhere?

It is possible that the problem is caused by the 'old sim card'. The sim card is originally a 3 UK PAYG one and I just port the number. I shall discuss this issue with T-mobile and to see if they can issue me a new SIM card.

Cannot send SMS in EDGE; WCDMA OK.

Hi!
I also have problems with SMS sending. More or less with any network I am in. Usually I can only send one to two SMSes, then I need to reboot to be able to send/receive again. SMS just hangs for a moment in Outbox, then an error message is displayed, network connection drops and then reestablish, SMS is put in Draft. VERY annoying!

Had the SMS sending problem (send 1 or 2, then had to reboot or rest went to drafts) when I first bought my phone e last year.
My problem? Old outdated SIM card. Went to dealer and they gave me a new one. Problem solved!
I did change SIM four times in the past 10 days. From the latest to the oldest my mobile operator has to offer. To no avail. Strange thing is that I have tested some SIM cards I could get my hand on (my father's for example) and two of them did not have this problem.
What could be the issue with SIM card? Why some are "outdated"?
Good question. I'm a pretty techy guy, but I know little about SIM cards.
I asked 5 techs who seem just as clueless. They said:
1. Newer SIM cards have More towers listed (doubtful)
2. Some SIM cards aren't compatible with 3G phones (maybe)
3. SIM contacts are dirty (no)
4. SIM might be overheating (no)
5. Some SIMs draw more current in certain network modes (doubtful)
I bet it IS your SIM. Ask if they have a 3G-compliant SIM. T-Mobile USA has no 3G yet but their SIMs are supposedly compatible. Who knows
Thanks for all the replies! I tried a friends new SIM and it doesn't work either, so I know it's not that. Re-booting doesn't help either. I am on the T-Mobile network and it works as soon as I am in their 3G area. It used to work on GSM until I upgraded to the official GPS update ROM and then it hung a few times and last week stopped sending altogether. It gives me a message that it is unable to send and moves the SMS to the drafts folder. Receive is OK. Is it possible that the radio (1.38) has become corrupted and maybe a new version (1.41) will solve this?
Re-booting only helps in sending one to two SMSes after reboot (and receiving queued ones). Otherwise I have just the same behaviour as you describe. I have also noticed that until I tap on OK on SMS error message, I am not available for incoming calls either! Do you also notice that after SMS error message network drops and reconnects? I have tried some friend's/family SIMs and majority did not work, two of them did. I don't know why. Where will 1.41 version of radio be available? Is it official?

I definately notice this problem as well. Always when the message is 2 SMS long... never can send. Perhaps it is the same problem as when the call is ended as soon as it is dialed, I read on one thread that the phone has trouble when switching to a 3g tower or not... I have a brand new ATT sim (cingular customer) in the Wash. DC area and I still have problems sending large SMS... sometimes reboot fixes but most times not... been searching also... I'm going to try to choose GSM only and vice versa to see if that makes any difference... the only other option for SMS is "Use unicode when necessary" does anyone know if that would fix?
Micah
I have now received fifth replacement SIM (looks like a very old and used one) from my mobile operator here in Slovenia, Europe. SMS sending and receiving now works like a charm! Strange that some SIMs work for no obvoius reason.

The phone has no problem switching between GSM and 3G (WCDMA) and in fact SMS works perfectly in 3G covered areas. I cannot send even a one word test, let alone a large message in my GSM area. I recently noticed that I can send SMS in some areas and not in others. Of course, I live in an area where I cannot send. What's weird is that it used to work. It may be that T-Mobile updated the network in some areas and that this is not compatible with Windows Mobile phones. My Sony Ericsson and Nokia phones still work. I'm hoping that when WM6 (official or at least Dopod) comes out, SMS will work properly again.

delay recieving sms

sometimes i get my sms late, although it says the exact time the sms was sent, i still recieve it 2 hours later,
when i send an outgoing message, all my sms's come flooding in.. is there a fix for this.. is anyone else experiencing the same prob ??
i am on rom 1.66, official htc
what full rom version you using?
what network you on?
country?
has this been happening long time or recently?
it has been happening recently it was more common before the sms fix, its not all sms's just sometimes, and sometimes i dont recieve the sms at all
i am in uk, on o2 network, using the htc 1.66 rom, the one off the htc website,
i am SO close to selling this and getting an iphone
Give O2 a ring, I had this issue with my Nokia E90, and it turned out to be a corrupt message on their servers.
thanks mate,
dont think its the network mate, gave them a call.. cud it be the htc, becos the sms problems over the past are well known !

its a network problem genrally
delayed sms sound
I have similar problem on htc iolite since the new coocket roo303oom. The message sound is delayed to when i unlock my screen.
Im having exactly the same problem. Im on o2 uk and its really starting to get on my tits.
I sometimes get them an hour or 2 after they are sent, yet they are date stamped with the time they were actually sent. Did you manage to get to the root of the problem? I called o2 weeks ago about it and they just suggested i try a new sim, which they promptly sent me but it has made absolutely no difference. Is this a phone problem or a network problem?
Both of you on O2, I doubt it's got something to do with the phone.
sort of same issue with my HTC HD2 on Voda UK.
MEssages being sent or recived are not arriving on my phone!!
thinking of getting rid of phone now!!
just to annoy you mine works fine on virgin in the uk
Mine works fine on T-Mobile too
SMS delay

this is a widespread problem with htc's , if u google , late sms, you wil find, people on all networks are having this problem
i have contacted them and they say it could be the phone
Hi everybody,
I'm still experiencing this problem. That happened after the last ROM upgrade (see attached screenshot for current versions).
The message arrived a couple of hours later. Not it's about 24 hours or I don't receive the messages at all.
This might be a coincidence, but I often was browsing with Opera when the messages finally showed up.
I'm using Zenyee disable htc messaging 1.2 as I'm syncing with an Exchange 2010.
It's definitely not the provider, but the phone. I've put my simcard in a standard cell phone where the messages arrived in an instant.
Anybody got an idea?
It not the network, its a file in HTC phones. I havent been able to figure out what was causing it until now. I am 90% sure I know the culprit, but I am not 100% sure. I am on a TP2 and I just ran across this problem today after I installed a cooked rom I made, before everything was fine. I am in the process of testing this theory out. I should have a better idea by either days end, or at latest by tomorrow. I am testing 3 packages out at the moment to see if my theory is correct.
Will keep you posted.
I have the same problem too or sometimes I only get the text if I unlock the phone then I get 3 texts at once also sending text if it has more then 160 but less than 180 (i think ) then ppl don't seem to get my text weird no lol
I've had this problem in my HTC Trinity...
Fortunately I don't have it in the Leo...

Hello, yesterday i bought my new phone and i flashed directly the hspl and a custom rom and radio.
Then i tried to send sms but i could not, i could only receive!.
Then i unistalled hspl and flashed shipped rom but the problem remains.

No they are not there, and i have a notice from my phone that the message cannot be sent.
in the start menu theres usually an icon like a sim card, usually with your operators name. try running that to get settings
also try...
settings tab - menu - all settings - connections
and see if you have a connection setup in there (also to get settings)
I had this issue when I first got my HD2. I'm not saying yours is the same cause but I had my problem on the day my old number had been ported to the new phone. I was able to receive texts but couldn't send. I contacted o2 and they told me I wouldn't be able to send texts for the rest of that day right up to midnight. The next day everything was fine and dandy.
This problem was solved and i must report this.
The problem was that my sim card was too old!!
So old sim cards do not work properly.

MMS problems with Straight Talk

Ok so i got rid of tmobile and went with straight talk so i can take full advantage of my tab. First impressions with straight talk, not very good mainly in the customer service department it took me 5 calls and over an hour on the phone with them just so they could port one of my phone numbers from tmobile, the second one was no issue. I guess is true what they say "you get what you pay for".
Well calls do seem to work up to now with no issues, but the problem i have now is with MMS messaging, i am not able to send any at all. I checked my VPN and i do have internet+mms so i dont think thats the problem. Has anybody experienced any issues with sending MMS? Your help would be most appreciated.

Vodafone UK, unbranded S7E, any way to get WiFi calling at all?

[SOLVED]
Please see this comment for how I weirdly got WiFi Calling.
Hi guys, signal in my house is horrific - I've been trying to get WiFi calling for ages, and loved it when I was with EE.
I'm now on Voda and don't have it.
From what I've seen, it doesn't appear to be possible with an unbranded phone (why Voda!?) through any normal/configuration means.
I have the option to turn it on under settings -> applications -> phone -> wifi calling, and I've sent 'CALLING' to 97888, but only get the confirmation of the text, and nothing to confirm it's been set up. However, I don't get the little icon to signify that I'm using wifi calling.
Is there any way I can get wifi calling?
Does it require flashing?
If I'm going to have to root/flash anyway to get this feature, is there a way to do it one of the nice custom ROMs I see on this forum, but retain the vodafone branding?
Thanks all.
Easiest way is to flash a Vodafone firmware. Had to do the same to get EE WI-FI calling working. There is an option in unbranded firmware but activating it does nothing
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Just flash latest Vodafone firmware that way you will not trip knox and you should get wifi calling
I suggest you check with your provider, if the unbranded phone was not bought from them.
Wifi calling may not be allowed because the imei is not registered to a vodafone branded phone.
They may have blocked the wifi calling feature.
Hey,
I've got the Google Pixel phone which I bought from Carphone Warehouse. Vodafone have told me that WiFi calling should work with it without any special firmware. I've tried using my SIM card in a friend's Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which he bought from Carphone Warehouse and it worked! I too didn't get a text message from Vodafone when I texted 'CALLING', but WiFi calling is now active on the SIM card, albeit not the phone. Have been in discussion with Google who have escalated my problem to their technical people. Hope it can be resolved very quickly, otherwise returning the Pixel, which I don't want to do.
Thanks very much for the replies guys - I have something to report back to you all too. Unsure HOW this happened, but it happened... I somehow got WiFi Calling.
I'm scared to try do anything else like switch off my phone, because I don't want to lose my new WiFi Calling.
Here's what happened:
I have an EE iPhone 5s, locked to carrier. I'd recently requested an unlock from EE. It had been switched off, and was recently hard factory reset. Unsure of iOS version.
I put my Vodafone SIM in the iPhone today to see if it had been unlocked... it hadn't. SIM was in there for roughly 1 minute.
I put the SIM back into my S7E... started getting the usual texts from Vodafone about changing SIM, blah blah.
Somehow, I now have WiFi Calling on my unbranded S7E on Vodafone!
At no point did I switch off my S7E during SIM changing.
*NOTE* I'm not sure if something has changed recently, but I definitely did NOT see the WiFi Calling symbol before I did this:
I have no idea why/how and I can only speculate.
But... there we are!
Not sure if anyone else can try/vouch for this, as I realise it's a VERY particular set of circumstances, but I hope this helps someone!
Please do respond to me if you try this out and get it working... it'd be interesting to see if it works for others, and maybe figure out why it works.
Cheers!
