I'm gonna buy a new phone just for internet, apps and normal stuff i'm not intrested in gaming.
I have to chose between this 2 devices, but they seems very similar >_<
I don't like sense but there are a lot of custom rom,i just want a stable ICS rom but the camera on the nexus S really sucks
what should I buy? i'm talking about the i9023 version
As you stated, Desire has better camera and video is 720. Even so, I think Nexus S takes decent photos.
One thing I would recommend, is to check around on both forums (mostly on the development and Q/A). This way you can get a bigger picture and a grasp of known issues on both devices.
Not sure about Desire's forum, but Nexus S is one of the best here on XDA. Development is awesome and you would have a lot of options with ICS ROMs which are more than stable.
Nexus S every time.

If you want an awesome dev community, than Nexus s.
if you want a better camera, than Desire
I would compare them side to side if possible and decide that way (i.e. not on specs), the screens and body construction are very different.
Desire HD has a better clscreen
Sent from my Sexy Sexy Nexus S
i have both phones and i occasionally switch back and forth. The desire hd is nice because it has solid construction, a bigger screen (if thats what you want), better camera, and the extra ram on it is really nice to have. I prefer the nexus s however because its lighter, smaller, and with custom roms its much snappier than the desire hd.
HTC sense is beautiful, but I think Nexus S is better!
Advice
I have personally used both devices and here is my guidance
Desire HD vs Nexus S:
1. D HD as very good screen and fits anyone's palm very well... whereas NS is almost same but a bit slim... but both tie up because the resolution is almost same
(i9023 is indian version which has Super LCD instead of AMOLED) AMOLED Nexus S has complete pitch black where there is black, but LCD has little bit grey
2. D HD has a good camera and so does NS... but if u install latest version of ICS on D HD, video camera doesn't work... check Desire HD sections if u need further info... whereas Nexus S rocks...
3. Development for Desire HD is low compared to Nexus S... Means if Android 5.0 releases, Nexus S and Desire HD both may have chance to get it, but if 6.0 releases, HD has very low chances, very very
4. Desire HD has good built quality, but it had more mass and weight than NS, so the chance of breaking when dropped is more in D HD, whereas NS may survive with opened back and scraches
Final advice >
Go for Desire HD if u are not a tech person and will stick to stock (manufacturer provided OS) and enjoy the features
Go for Nexus S if tech is ur best time pass, new roms, new stuff to show to friends everyday... and if 5.0 releases Nexus S will surely gets it... Not sure about Desire HD... Nexus S may even get 6.0 - If u r a noob ignore this and go with desire hd
NOTE: TRY FOR NEXUS S I9020 NOT I9023, LCD HAS ISSUES
@Above I have an i9023 and i have no screen issues.

The HD2 is good as a plaything, if you want to try out different OS, but it doesn't match the function and usability of Nexus S.
The battery life is horrible, if you intend to use a HD2 at all then you'd better be resigned to spare or extended batteries. The processor isn't too bad, but still won't match the NS
All in all, it depends on your personal preference, whether you'd rather functionality or simply options.
I had a Hero and I bought a HD2 last summer and put android on it. The HD2 really lowered my respect for HTC. The devices screen was awful - it was really washed out compared to my Hero. Also, the digitizer was not accurate even after calibration within android. You could also see the digitizer touch sensors under the screen in normal daylight. The touch screen would also miss presses, like one press in ten wouldn't be registered by the device - extremely annoying when you are txting. Luckily I kept my Hero and got shut of the HD2, but it left me disappointed.
Anyway I saw the Nexus S deal over on hotukdeals and thought I'd give it a shot as £200 was the max I wanted to spend. Anyway I can safely say that I am a Sammy man from now on. The phone has really exceeded my expectations, especially running ICS.
It's a shame as I always had a soft spot for HTC with the Hero being my first smartphone. But it's sad to say that the nexus one/desire was probably the last great phone HTC have made for the Uk market.
Cheers.

What answers did you expect posting this question in the Nexus forum?
Hey well ive had my gs3 for about a week coming from two years on the epic....and just wanted to chime in my humble .02 for those skeptics that are undecided wether to jump ship or not. Ill start off by saying im a die_hard physical user and I couldn't be happier with my new fone. It takes a lil to get used to the onscreen keyboard but since the screen is bigger its extremely accurate. My second biggest concern was the lack of lte in my area (los angeles).... but with the awesome help of xda developers, a couple of tweaks here and there and my speeds are not bad at all. The battery on this fone is awesome....also with tweaks here and there. Overall this fone is a beast....camera is awesome with no lag and bluetooth sound streaming on my car is clearer and louder. I got the otter carriying case which is extremely sturdy and helps the fone not feel so light. Two spare batteries oem and a battery charger, a new bluetooth motorola elite silver with awesome sound and battery through which i can stream music and a hdmi dock audio for my tv and i couldnt be happier. If anyone is interested ill report my current rom/setup and tweaks and if u have any reasonable questions or concerns ill keep an eye on this thread. Hope it helps!!!

1) LTE? 2) KB: do miss it, no way is on screen KB replacing a physical one 3) Screen is huge but I honestly can't tell much of an improvement over Epic quality wise, 4) it is smooth, with these specs - but hate TW in any iteration and S3 AOSP development isn't there yet AFAIK.
When LTE will show up and AOSP roms catch up S3 will be a much more attractive choice.

Different strokes for different folks. I was contemplating a VZW GNex while the 2ble data promo was still running. Came away unimpressed, less so with G3 but still. For me, having a hardware KB, a few AOSP bugs but none that bother me, avoiding a contract x 2 years on a network with a big ? in my area, OG Epic doing everything I need it to do and having all the accessories I want is just fine.
This really belongs in the new phone discussion
And the whole Nexus vs. S3 argument has been beaten to death
If you want the quickest software updates and lowest upgrade cost get a Nexus
If you want the best hardware and have a few more upgrade bucks get the S3
There, the whole discussion reader digested!

I was thinking of the Nexus for the screen and processor or Tab 2 for the SD card slot and the Student Edition at Best Buy. Figured I'm not going to be using it much in direct sunlight and I'll almost definitely need expandable storage so went with the Galaxy. First Samsung device and I'm really happy with it. A lot of development options, had it rooted in 20 minutes, etc. The keyboard that came with the Student Edition is pretty handy if I'm going to be typing notes for school. I'm a fan.
I just saw the app to sd problem but is it worth the wait. Unless i missed the fix

Just reserved my gt2 after owning an N7 and the screen cracking into a million pieces. After watching some video comparisons on speed I don't think there's much in it plus dev here on xda is way ahead at the mo.
Even gaming there's very few apps/games that will utilize the quad core CPU. Its really a close race between them that basically comes down to the options you get. Better processor more ram better screen vs external storage front and rear cameras and better build quality.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda premium
I just switched from an Asus Transformer Prime (TF201), a member of the same pedigree as the Nexus 7, Infinity, etc. It is a piece of junk. GPS flat doesn't work (it did in an earlier firmware version), WiFi stinks, and the glass cracks if you look at it the wrong way (mine cracked from the keyboard dock...too bad since the dock was the best feature). The digitizer and screen work, but the glass has a spider web on it. Plus, Asus support is abysmal. They used to be a fantastic company, but something changed and they are AWFUL now. Stay away.
I would only consider a Nexus 7 because Google supports it.
Anyway, I jumped all over the BestBuy GT2 7.0 deal. It seemed to be the best featured device, the knowledgeable sales guy (yes, my BestBuy had one) recommended this one or the Acer, and with the special deal there, I chose the GT2 7 for $250. I am not regretting it so far. From what I have seen in this forum, the videos I saw on Youtube, and other Google search results, I think this is a deal everyone should jump all over.
For the record...I also own an Asus Netbook (1001P), and have built PCs with Asus motherboards. I jumped on the TF201 because of ASUS' reputation of making good hardware. That was my biggest mistake, and perhaps others' as well.
I was gonna buy the nexus but I really didn't want to have them ship me one as I wanted it now lol. Found the bestbuy bundle with keyboard and usb thing and WOW I love it and it's really amazing. Even just stock with root, it's a great tablet.

I wanted a state of the art developer device!
After I owned the Galaxy Nexus for a while, I decided to go for an HTC One X. This was due to the superior radio/antenna and camera (at the time). Development was strong, but HTC are dicking around with their customers. Currently the dev scene on the One X is dying, which made me remember how good it was on the Galaxy Nexus. I just missed that development community. So, I bought a Nexus 4. No sweat.
Should add an entry:
Because the phone supports AWS band; Works with T-mobile in US, Wind and Mobilicity in Canada, etc.
Low price phone + low price plans combined makes it such a good deal.
Price had alot to do with it also the fact that I wanted a newer, faster phone with a HD screen!

I went the other way round. I now have the HTC One. Regarding smoothness though you are right. The Nexus 4 is buttery smooth.
You are going to feel it though. The HTC One is a premium device. It shows in the sound quality, screen and camera. These features are lacking in the Nexus 4. But in terms of ROM support there is no comparison. The Nexus 4 has plenty.
Regarding performance though I believe the Nexus 4 has the advantage. A lot of games that were smooth on my Nexus 4 stutter on the One and I believe that is due to the difference in resolution. On the One its a 1080p display, a lot more pixels to push data to.
You may have been better off doing the Google conversion on the One. That's what I did and am currently running Android 4.3.
P.S like the guy above posted. Paranoid is indeed the ROM to flash. If there's anything I really miss from my Nexus 4 it was this.
