@chisme
That's the leak from March. Not the recent OTA update.

download now Acer_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1.zip to test.

You guys keep posting the WW_GEN1 files. We are specifically looking for COM_GEN1 files.

Right, if anyone have it please post the link, thanks.

What's the difference? I'm in the USA and just got the WW_GEN1 last night. Installed it from SD card and everything is working fantastic.
Thanks,
X

The difference is the WW is a leaked version that does not have the full implementation of what Acer is releasing as far as I know anyway. Either way people want the real OTA I am guessing so they can test root and what not.

Because the ww version is missing features and has a few bugs!!

I believe you are MISTAKEN. On this thread, on the first post at the top of the page, a guy lists his rom version after completing the OTA update and it shows a WW version. This was the OTA update from like yesterday or the day before! Can't be a leaked version. Maybe WW stands for worldwide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315683&page=20
EDIT: You are definitely wrong. There are many people who posted screens of the settings screen AFTER they did the OTA update and they are all showing the WW GEN 1 image.

You'll probably have to reflash stock recovery back on with Multi Tool and then hopefully it'll update manually via the dload folder method.

PB1 Update Rolling Out?

Did anyone get a notification for an update today? The version is "PB1" (LRX21T.G900VVRU2BPB1). It appears to just be a security patch. https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/galaxy-s5-update/ Assuming someone will dump it out, root it, and we'll be able to flash with FlashFire? I've pre-ordered a S7 so I don't know if I'll even try before I ditch this phone.
I'll give it a shot, assuming I can trigger the update.

Your bootloader is locked, right? I ask it because I wonder if there is an order to install these differents files, and I wonder if it will be easier to install it via TWRP. I looked the content of the small file and I'm not sure what it is.

Maybe we have to install the small file before, it seems to be a patch file. So perhaps we have to install it for the second works.

Could be...Yes, I'm pretty sure the bootloader is locked. There is an option in developer options to allow it to be unlocked, but
it pops up a security warning, so I don't know if it will work or if it will hose something else.
I guess the "official" 580 will hit my phone one of these days soon.

You can see the difference with Huawei extractor in the screenshots below.
These are the files:
DTS.img
MODEMNVM_UPDATE.img

They are missing in OTA file.
"Huawei made changes in the installation process of the firmware. Now the firmware before installation passes the procedure of online checking. Seems like the only way we'll be updating our phones from b560 before Huawei pushes OTA, is to roll back and upgrade directly to b580, or flash through custom recovery.

This is what i found in network for B580:
Status: Official (beta)
Version: NRD90M
EMUI: 5.0
"Disclaimer: This update is in beta stage which means that it may carry bugs that can have an impact on the usability of the device. Moreover, since this is a multifile update, you may encounter errors if you try installing this with the stock recovery."

Well, I got a big problem here. I received the update and downloaded the 442.1 mb update. But after downloading it shows 'installation failed'. I haven't rooted or unlocked my bootloader. Any ideas?

Also got it. But mine is 100MB bigger. How can I install it now the most easy way? My A2 is unlocked and rooted with Magisk. Only modifications are AdAway App hostfile and IOS Emoji Module in Magisk. I couldn't get it updated when the first Sept update hit.

About the size... maybe a cumulative update with the previous one ?
Probably the same reason why it was not possible to apply the previous update : I think a rooted A2 will not be able to get OTA update.
For me, it's the main reason why I don't want to root it

If it is the same device, why are the update package sizes different? That's kinda odd.

Depends most likely from which version you are upgrading. Some are on August, some are on the previous September version
Got it! Must have been some minor bugs on the first and second try.

I would guess they pulled the update because of "green picture" bug with HDR . I got the first September update and had that bug. Made quick test on new September update and can't reproduce it.
I have updated it for about 2 hours. It seems the battery life is much better now. At least it didn't drop in the last 2 hours. I'll check it again later.

You can by following instructions here, it worked for me
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/blob/master/docs/tips.md
This will only work if you didn't make any modifications to /system, even mounting it writable will make it fail
I think adaway won't cause issues but only if you enabled the option "Systemless hosts" in Magisk settings
If it fails, get system.img from the august patch, flash it to your active slot and try again

Baseband version of mine is also 660_GEN_PACK-1.164129.0.164270.1. It seems that the battery drain comes again. After idle for 1 hours, it dropped 2%. But it seems not as fast as before.
