Hello Noob here.
Yesterday I decided to sell my Nook Color on Craigslist since I rarely use it now. Well, today, the buyer wanted me to set it back to original stock which I agreed to thinking it would be a piece a cake. Wrong! Now I have potentially bricked my Nook Color and here I am at this forum praying that someone will be able to assist.
Here's some information on what I have and what I did and what is happening now:
I went into Clockwork Recovery and tried Restore Factory. At which point it said something like "could not locate /cache/log_in.log
I have Clockwork 3.0.0.6.
Then it got stuck on the N screen after "The feature of reading."
After getting frustrated for hours, I got desperate and downloaded a zip file named something like "stock rom 1.2 rom signed" and installed it using Clockwork.
Now I'm stuck on the "Read Forever" screen..... and can't even access Clockwork!!
Is there any hope to fix my Nook Color? I just would like to have it operational again, whether it be stock or rooted.
Okay, I just made a bootable ClockworkMod Recovery 3.2.0.1, but am struggling to find a stock rom file since most of the links in guides I've come across do not work. Help me!
Never mind. After hours of painful research, I've managed to update it to 1.4.2 and remove CMR after. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hello!
I was about to unroot and get back to stock with my A500 so I flashed a stock ROM via CWM to get a ota-update. Before i had a custom ICS ROM installed and now I installed a HC stock ROM. The problem is that i forgot to go through the wipe menu in CWM before the flash and now when I start up my tablet I first see the ACER logo as usual, then a android text-logo which the tablet is stuck at. I've waited 20 minutes and is still shows the same thing. The logo has an animation which i still can see. I've tried to restart the tablet and get into CWM again without succes.
I have read diffrent threads for several hours but I can't find my problem. What should I do? :crying:
what does the android text say?
Hi dibb_nz.
It is the bootanimation from what I gather (Video; http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n602/JdgM3NT4L/?action=view¤t=AndroidBootanimation.mp4). I am trying to help someone get a tab up that is doing the same thing as well. The weird part is that recovery is good, bootloader passed (V8), wiped data/cache/system. Tried three ICS roms so far, and every one is stuck at the bootanimation. About to go bonkers trying to figure it out. The only thing that I can think of to try next is changing CWM from Thors to TWRP or something...
To Webspirit, your problem will most likely get fixed by using blackthund3rs APX Tool. Google it and then goto the forum where it is. There's plenty of support for getting that going and you shouldn't have any problems. If you do holler. Alot of us have had to use that tool and can help. I am hopeful that yours will be as simple as downloading and installing recovery back and flashing a nice rom.
Yeah i agree with the guy above me, your going to have to flash something from apx
Sent from my A501 using xda app-developers app

hi J...ok thats cool re boot anim...i asked becoz like u i been trying to help a couple of others who can't use any of the flash tools or roll back to HC...i only just got myself fixed after being stuck in apx, no recovery, and boot screen saying in red text "reboot device" thought he may have had similar issue....
J...have u used nvflash or apxflash to roll back - theres a few folks getting stuck with it...its loading the HC apx driver which aint working with the ics bl so then yr tab gets stuck in apx!!!
I started a new thread hoping someone can help us all out be great to hear yr thoughts on this....its driving me up the wall
sorry didnt mean to hijack the thread
I can list any number of things that I've done/tried, but there have been so many! I'm not a noob when it comes to flashing ROMs, but I'm a new to the Acer Iconia Tab A500 and that's the problem, I think.
Anyway, I got the A500 with Honeycomb and I let it do the ICS OTA. No problem. Then I rooted it. No problem. I got to here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31546261#post31546261
Then I decided to change the bootloader and that's when I borked something up. It would still boot into ICS just fine, but I couldn't get into recovery. I decided to try downgrading to Honeycomb 3.0.1 using the "unstable" update.zip, but that just ruined everything as now I'm completely stuck. I can't boot at all, it just hangs at the black screen with white Acer letters and red "boot verification failed" in the top left corner. Recovery gets me the dead Android image with the black exclamation point in a red triangle.
I have looked all over and I've read dozens of XDA threads...and I'm sure I'm missing the one thing I need to do to fix this, but heck if I know what it is. I have the Acer drivers installed on my computer, I have a variety of tools (nvflash, blackthund3r's apxflash, etc) waiting to be used if necessary.
So, please, I implore you...treat me like I'm dumb and walk me step-by-step through whatever it is I need to do to get my A500 back up and running! Thanks for your help!
UPDATE: Many hours later, I fixed it! I did another update using the full, stock image of Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2 (just guessing about whether it would work or not) and it seems to have done it. Sure, I'm back on Honeycomb 3.2, but it worked. And then I was able to use AfterOTA to root and get the CWM bootloader on there.
So my next question: what do I need to do in order to get ICS? Can I just flash an ICS ROM from CWM, or do I need to update the bootloader in some way?
Thanks!

Yes and No.
Now that you are on HC 3.2, you're going to need to do the process again.
IE: Unlocked Bootloader and CWM
The problem you had at first, is that when you flashed the UNL bootloader and CWM, you missed 1 tiny step. (lot of people forget to do this) And that is to delete the boot-recovery.p file from the /System. If you do not, you can install CWM, however, when you boot into stock ICS, your CWM gets overwritten. Another little trick from Acer
In the Dev Section, in the stickies part, Civato posted a link to a full ICS Stock Root Rom, With all the nasty stuff removed. (bootloader, recovery files). Download it, put it on your Ext Sd card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31572588&postcount=6
Then do the unlocked bootloader + Cwm again. Only THIS TIME, when it finishes, boot the tab immediately to CWM (vol- and PWR). And install the modified stock rom, or one of the custom roms.
Don;t forget to get your HC UID number written down before starting the process. Also it's good after ICS to get your ICS UID number also written down.

Hi guys, last month i receive an old tattoo from my sister. I was trying to update it to CyanogenMod 7 using the official guide in the cyanogenmod wiki, but for some reason it wasn't working. It gave me a lot of errors and i started looking other methods (note: rooted it before trying anything).
I think that the tattoo had something weird, cuz nothing was working. I couldn't install the clockworkmod recovery (also giving errors) so i installed another recovery called the maverick's recovery. I heard it couldn't install CM7, but i tried it anyway.
As expected, it didn't work, so i thought i could use another rom with froyo or something. I was derping around in the recovery when i saw another .zip file on the sd (not cm7). I dont know what it was, but i (yay im stupid) tried installing it anyway.
Of course, it bricked the phone
Currently, the tattoo doesn't boot, the fastboot doesn't boot, and, the recovery doesn't boot. I made a full backup at the start of all this process, but dunno what to do. I think there's no solution, but you guys are the best on this so i hope you can do something
Ok folks,
Noob to posting but have used this forum for everything android. I hope this is in the right spot! If not please behead me and humiliate me, also point me in the right direction.
Issue: Upon boot my phone displays "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing" but will continue to boot. Quick background info,
Ran some cheesy one click style root app from playstore(facepalm) it never posed an issue. I installed CWM and never used it after install. This weekend i got tired of stock rom so i decided id find something more on the AOSP side. I attempted to backup than upon reboot i got that message, took me hours to get out of the bootloop and get connected to odin to flash twrp. Completed and successful I booted into recovery and flashed gummy rom onto my phone. Its mostly an annoyance than anything! But i was wondering if anyone had any experience or a solution for this
Muchly appreciated.
Cheers,

That message is completely normal when using a custom recovery, and you can safely ignore it.
So first things first, i think i should tell you the story.
So one day, i was derping around until i finally learned how to actually root my HTC Glacier mt4g. So I played around with the rooted device until I tried to use custom font. Please note that i haven't flashed any custom ROMS at all. So once it got "applied" my phone rebooted. Basically what happened was /obviously/ my phone got softbricked. I got really dumb at this point and googled "How to unbrick HTC Mytouch 4g" So i stumbled across a few tutorials and accidentally deleted the system *i forgot what it was called, but it said it would delete my ROM too* so when i rebooted it, obviously it didnt work because silly me, i made the problem so much worse. Days later, it finally came to my sense that i shouldve followed a tutorial on how to unbrick android device that was caused by a custom font. *FACEPALM* So i found this application which was like a one-click-unbrick for bricked android devices that was caused by a custom font, what happened was it said "success" but when it started rebooting, it did the same thing *bootloop*.
Ive been trying to look for a "stock recovery" thing and a "custom rom" but when i try going to the fastboot option in my phone it keeps saying that its a wrong file or no image. And i cant seem to find any custom rom without a dead link, can you guys help me on what to do?
hope someone has a rom and upload it for you.
Just restore a PD15IMG.zip for whatever ROM you want through hboot.
