Seems pretty dang cheap for an unlocked phone at the calibur of the GNexus. Wonder if it's a limited time deal?
told my wife about this and her response was 'buy it. i'll take your phone.' which is funny cause she went from a cm7 flashed android phone to a dumbphone and repeatedly turned down offers of my old vibrant or her own sgs2 saying she likes her phone and doesn't need a smartphone...

I hate to give away ideas...but you know list our t989s on craigslist unlocked and rooted for $400...its like an almost equal trade-in.
One of the main deal makers for this, is for those on contract who can get more money by terminating their contract for a cheaper plan and newer phone...
What's the catch why so cheap??

if you put a tmobile sim in its only 3g right?
im surprised that so many people would trade 4g for 3g speeds pretty much just to get ICS

You'd still get "4G" (since T-Mo classifies anything at 14mbps+ 4G) at 21mbps, half of what you can get from the t989 if it really matters that much.

i currently have the AT&T LTE version of the note
and someone is trying to trade with me for their international version (they have t-mobile) and i'm currently stuck at a crossroads,
i do love the home button on the international and the development they have going on in their forum. However, i feel like development here will start to pick up also (running saurom with holo kernal) i live in San Francisco where LTE is pretty strong for me but the exynos processor does also sound nice. So this is my dilemma, any advice would be appreciated!
Note: yes i did search the forum and have read all the posts regarding at&t vs international but they all go back and forth without solid opinions =/ that is perhaps why i'm stuck right now lol.
I actually have both. There isn't much difference other than processor and LTE so i suggest pick what's important to you and run with it. I've only have the international version for about a day now so i can't comment on battery life as opposed to AT&T's version but then again your in a actual LTE Area where as i am not so that wasn't a factor at all for me. I will probably get rid of my AT&T version soon.

LTE won't be in my area for so long that it just didn't matter and to be honest 6 or 7 mbps down and 1.5 to 2mbps up is sufficient enough for me.

What's more important to you? If you like the different ROMS, development, and possibly getting faster upgrades to the latest OS, then the International Note. If you like better performance, then the International Note. If you like data download speeds on LTE or the ability to use your phone on either AT&T OR T-Mobile, then the AT&T Note.

No need to think. Just get the International. It will have more diverse dev support than the AT&T version will ever get just because of the processor.
Unless you need LTE.

I have an international and I love it BUT I since anyone on this forum uses and abuses their devices, I would seriously consider the AT&T due to the fact you will have no manufacturer service for the international here in the U.S....a 600 brick is far more painful than a 200 brick....

Int note all the way. even stock.. <--better for me anyway. to me it pointless to have LTE with capped data... do you really need that much speed to check facebook and emails lol <----for me no.. plus i use wifi 9 times out of ten at home.. now if we had true unlimited data. then LTE would rock. streaming movies and music etc. but alas capped data you will chew that up in no time..
other points for me. home button.. faster updates vs att.. no lag what so ever compared to the att..( preordered the att note but sold it too laggy and battery life was low ) <---batt life is awesome can go an 8 hour day. normal ,,facebook, emails, text etc, and still have like 80% left.. auto sync is off of course.. as well as gps and bluetooth..
anyway my point the int note works for me over the att lte version.

I know LTE speeds are not achieved with international SIM-Free S3. I can trade-off that one feature for many other things. I use Non-smartphone plan for 15$ vs 25$(LTE) a month which is pretty cool with unlimited data and i get speed up to 1.5Mbps(which is ok as i have wifi availability everywhere). Importantly the hardware, there is a possibility of Krait processor coming in for LTE handsets(rumor as heard). I don't want to take chances of losing Wolfson DAC this time(US LTE variants might have a different chipset).
Share your thoughts.
I am getting the international version because when I got my skyrocket I sold it right away profiting $500. I got the phone for FREE.
That being said, I live in the LA area and there is 4G LTE. But I have a limited data plan anyways and always have WiFi at work and at home (fios).
I'd rather have the Wolf, and Exynos over the S4 as the Exynos blows the S4 and Tegra 3 out of the water.

U guys are yanks right? I think you should wait till the American branded versions are out.

Agreed, but if all you're getting is 1.5Mbps, then I would scream bloody murder. I'm in Austin, TX and using international SGS2 on AT&T and get up to 7.5Mbps...!
I am on that plan and get avg 3-5mbs with mine. I have gotten 7-8mbs a few times and 12mbs at 1AM.
I just used 109GB on that plan and not a peep out of AT&T. LOL
I am going with international, if the ATT version ends up looking better or for some reason have better specs, than I will just buy that on contract and sell the international version. Not really worried about lte.
Also now that the ATT htc x one is the only version with a locked bootloader I am very hesitant to wait for the SIII ATT version.

I am getting close to 3MPS DL (provisioned on MediaNet, not Smartphone) As long as I can stream movie trailers without hiccups Its all good. Thats about the only time we use Carrier data while at a restruant deciding what movie to see...We have not used an ATT branded phones since the Captivate and won't be buying any soon except to sell.
We are saving over $600 a year on two smart phones. Plus the sale of the upgrades. It's an easy decision to buy the International versions on so many levels. even IF ATT had the IMEIs and billed for a Smart Phone in whcih case we go to Straight Talk. We don't need LTE for anything .
And the Wolfson DAC AFTER Supercurio does his magic is well worth the price of entry. But like all of our International devices so far SGS IIs and a Note, we buy used. Don't need a warranty as I void it anyway rooting and ROMming...LOL
Thee should be used ones becoming available in a couple months. In the mean time let the early adopters discover the issues and the Developers fix em. I can wait..........I think........or not.
Yea I choose to get the unlocked international version to ream att. For $15 I get unlimited data and I usually pull 6 down and 2 up. I can stream netflix, hulu, rdio and tunein radio without worrying about data usage.
not to mention hd video podcasts that i download all the time to my phone with doggcatcher ... all of this and i didnt even mention torrenting lol
I go through about 40-50 gigs a month.

You likely have the right settings. If you are not provisioned for a "Smart Phone" from ATT you will be on the MediaNet plan and your DL speeds will vary a lot and never really go that high,
. Mine go from 1.5 to 3mps. I have never had issues with streaming though when I needed.

I 'd say 4 months after the first ones are shipped and $200+ less Used. I haven't bought a new International phone yet. Warranty iffy in the US and I fully intend to void it anyway rooting and ROMing it. May as well buy an already rooted device from someone reliable. Paid Less than $450 for the SGS IIs and Less than $600 for the Note. Those savings alone goes a long way toward the SGS III.
All I hope is that they will release both a LTE and non-LTE version in the US, like the SGS2.
Wishful thinking.
I'm getting international version and I am on t mobile. I have HSPA+ right now on my phone with them but honestly... Edge can still download stuff.
I'm a little upset that it won't support HSPA but I can live without it. More and more places that my friends and I frequent are putting up free WiFi so I feel like in a year's time WiFi will be so abundant that getting LTE devices won't be such a big deal.

I was thinking about switching to Verizon, but the results you gave are for one city, in one corner of the country, I need more proof! And truthfully they need to test again when tmobiles LTE network goes active. I also thought it odd for the other 3 carriers they used HTC phones, and for TMobile they used the galaxy S. Why not use the sensation to make is fair, or use galaxy S II for all 4 carriers? My guess.....someone knows TMobile is faster and wanted to put them in a crutch...just sayin lol. I'm currently doing a comparison of the big 4 in grand rapids cause I seem to never get 4G and it's making me mad!

Besides the lack of iPhone usability, I have no issues with them. I've gone through some painful bleeding edge technology with the G1, the Vibrant and its crappy GPS issue, and now I'm testing out a Nokia Lumia 710 which has actually impressed me, minus the availability of WP7 apps. I like the fact that they're cheap as hell compared to AT&T or Verizon.

There's a newer article out. Reporting it is indeed finished and should be announced today. I'll find the link. But apologies if this doesn't belong I see much more "off topic threads" here Luke I want a GS3 blah blah figure this is somewhat on topic. As the OG EVO WAS a Sprint exclusive and so at one point every EVO was configured or running on Sprint. While I'm sure many of them (me for one) are still on Sprint and this could have a large impact on people. Again if I violated anything a MOD can surely close this or move it to where it belongs.

I think this is a great thing for Sprint on the short term, kind of skeptical if it will be good for us consumers in the long run. This^ Unlimited everything (besides land line calls) is amazing. Not to mention their plans are cheaper. The only thing left, IMO, to get more people to move over is to get more 4g coverage. I know they are expanding more...and I just heard I'm getting 4g by me which I didn't think would come for a few more years so that's a plus for me
As long as this buy out doesn't run Sprint into the ground, then it should be a good thing.

Agreed most people agree the up front cash will allow them to build out the LTE network faster. Which is good. Hopefully the broader the 4G range 3g speeds will improve as well since less traffic.

Not 'finished'....
BTW, this is LONG from 'finished', this is just the announcement of the agreement... there's still a LONG due diligence period that is only now starting along with required regulatory reviews. I doubt this will be 'finished' until 2nd quarter 2013, if not later.

You get what you pay for. Sprint's 4G is lacking and so is their 3G speeds. Getting consistent performance is out of question. Yeah the data is unlimited but that's it. Verizon has family share plans for $40/phone and shared data starting at $50/month. You could spend anywhere from $15-35 a month depending upon your data usage but Verizon at least in Los Angeles is worth every penny. Sprint will be nowhere near that kind of coverage for the next couple of years and I am tired of signing contracts based on promises of better data.

Yeah what-ever, I'm pulling on average 17-20MB/sec down on 4G and no less than 1.5 on 3G. Verizon locks down bootloaders worse than Sprint has ever contemplated, and just wait till you go a few gigs over your "allowance" and get hit with the 2-3 hundred dollar overage. Everyone I know on Verizon complains, but to each his own.

I read on Engadget today that Sprint bought like 50.8% of Clearwire. I wonder if our how that affects this deal
I hope that by buying half of clearwire, it improves 3g speeds.

Whatever works for you man. I guess Sprint has Independence covered like a blanket I guess. BTW, each phone on the shared plan with Verizon gives you a good idea where you stand on data. If you feel you're about to go over, you can go to the next level.
I've been with Sprint for a long time and really wish the 4G coverage was better but when you lose to metropcs in a major market then that is a problem.

I'm pretty sure Softbank wanted Sprint to be in control of clearwire as per the agreement. But like it was mentioned the Grand ole Government still has to give the ok for this so it'll be at least 6+ months.
I also have to side with Jamie here I had Verizon for a while (pre-smartphone days) and their service was great but lately as a huge Root fan I'd never go back. They are locking down the bootloaders on so many of the best devices like he SG3 and another one I'm forgetting but they have plans to lockdown more in the future. And while Sprint isn't the biggest Root supporter they at least leave that door unlocked. nd once they get the LTE network built out speeds WILL improve, we already have it here in Baltimore and my buddies Gnex is pulling a consistent 20-25mb/sec which for us Sprint users is Freaking a god send lol. Combine that will never having to worry about Data which I use about 5-7 gb/month I'm sticking right there with them. Until they are a huge success or die off lol

Cool story! I dropped sprint strictly because coverage in my area was very spotty. I have no regrets about it and if they fixed the network I'd go back in a heart beat...I just got tired of hearing about how my market was always next in line...blah blah blah. I also have no issue with verizon. The phone I picked was easily unlocked... that is more research based..all carriers should have a Google phone that can be unlocked. Data is not an issue...WiFi is every where anyways...even at the gym. I pay just as much now as I did with sprint... but dont drop calls...and since I am military and have a wife at home with my kids...an on demand call is a must. I also know Verizon has the better freq. Band... sure in the higher MHz you will get faster speeds..but the coverage area isn't as big...its all give and take. I am rooting for sprint...but just got tired of waiting....I love capitalism and choice...so I switched to who I feel deserved my money!

All very good reasons to switch. Yea I'd rank Verizon over ATT&t but the those locked bootloaders. I havent checking in a while but the locked sgs3 was a huge ordeal being locked. That kinda thing makes me mad. It's OUR Devices not the carriers and if I want to root then I have that right.

So I'm currently using the Motorola Atrix on AT&T and I will be selling it for the N4. I was just wondering if I will have any problems using it with at&t or something. My contract ends in 5 months and I will be going prepaid after that. Thanks.
No problems, other than you won't have LTE. You have to set the APN manually as well, before data works. But calling works right off the bat
I wonder if it will work on Medianet, or if At&t will flag them all right away.

I would be surprised if Google didn't add AT&T's APN by default. Surely you aren't correct about this (not that it matters).
You will also need to pay $27 to get your sim changed to a micro sim... (EVEN if you buy it before hand...)

They will replace your SIM for free if you go to an official AT&T store. If you go to an "AT&T Authorized Retailer", then they may or may not do it for free.
Go here: http://www.att.com/storelocator/
Look at locations near you, and go to one that says "AT&T" and not one that says "AT&T Authorized Retailer", and you should be good.

really? this has to be the dumbest question ever. maybe some people, like me, are locked into a contract. maybe some people, like me, don't want to lose the "unlimited data". maybe some people actually get better reception for phone calls with AT&T in their area.
did you ever stop to think about some basic things like this before you just spouted off nonsense? yeah... didn't think so.

lol yeah okay because I'm sure T-Mobile's HSPA+ will defiantly get you 42Mbps all the time. Those are theoretical speeds... HSPA+ is HSPA+

E-X-A-C-T-L-Y. I am on AT&T too, and yup. On a contract, I have unlimited data, and my area gets pretty decent-great reception, so HSPA+ even at 21Mbps will do me well. And the point that it is unlocked, and it being a high spec phone for 299-349 $ blows my mind. Selling my S3 for this! I don't even have LTE in my area, so its al good! Gotta love a nexus! Pure Vanilla Android at its best.

Many places, Tmo service simply does not work. I know of three people in last year who returned Tmo phones because they couldn't make calls from their house. It's great if they have the coverage, but...
Yes if you go to a att store they should give you one for free. They gave me one when I bought the gs3 off contract. He just asked if I needed a sim I said sure and it was quick and free.

^ this is good info. I just called the att STORE down the road and they said just come in and they will give it to me free.
The deal is, I'm a paying customer. They don't give a shyte about anything else. Especially when Someone like me can just change to straight talk and walk away..
This aint my first rodeo.
