I fancy a new facia to clean up my Exec anybody got any experience of these if it is anygood or worthwhile? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cover-Housing-for-O2-XDA-EXEC-I-mate-JASJAR-Qtek-9000-B_W0QQitemZ140315588872QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneFascias_JN?hash=item140315588872&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1690|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
Keep in mind
that is does not include the hinge, those are sold separately. Other than that - all good, but a bugger of a job to replace - read all the info you can find before undertaking. When changing over the screen, don't forget a small magnet from your old one, too many people tend to forget that particular part or discard it as unimportant. Forget it and your screen won't change orientation when flipped.
Facia change
I figured it wasn't going to be easy, the key board side looks relatively straightforward but the screen side looks more involved. Has anybody done one before might have any tips?
Done plenty before
doubt tips will be enough for you to complete the job, sorry. As I said - find the disassembly guide and follow it exactly.
The keyboard side might looks fairly straightforward, but it's not.
wow i didn't know this existed. i my screen side is cracked and the backing is messed up where the power button is and around that area with scratches. this would be great!
i have opened the back and that is really easy but i havent touched the screen.
And what about hinges? Where to buy?
Thanks in advance
I've been looking for one that flips from the top since the release of the play but have had no luck, using a case that flips from the bottom is literally no fun (I say this from experience) - does anyone know of a flip case for the play that flips from the top (preferably available to buy from the uk)? Cheers
Well to answer you question, they flip the wrong way because they are not designed for the Xperia Play. Most of them were designed for another phone and now are being advertised as being for the Xperia Play.
No they're designed specifically for the PLAY, I own a couple, they clip in and the logo and camera holes are all in the right position
My main question is if anyone has seen a case that flips from the top?
You should probably ask the person you purchased them from then.
I have, the only feedback I get are things along the lines of 'the only cases we have for your phone are featured on our site' - check ebay/amazon/play, all the cases are the same which makes no sense to me...
I have a case that clips on the front and back. It got in the way of the buttons on the front so I only use the back. I'm not sure how well it is protecting it. Dirt gets in easy.
Currently i am planning on getting the Nexus4,
And also i have plans to design my own protective case for it and have it be printed in 3D.
Though to design a case that doesnt only look good but also fits tightly on to the body of the phone i'm gonna need to have a reference model.
With a reference model i can create a case that fits snug around the phone and doesnt have it slide around, but also doesnt scrape/damage the phone.
Does anyone know how i could obtain a accurate virtual representation of the phone?
Here are some examples of 3d printed cases made for the (much easier to reverse engineer) iphone4:

I'm interested in this too so I can create a DIY carbon fiber cut-out.

I dont know why people insist on carbon fiber accessories when the material dampers wireless (wifi, BT, antenna) performance
Well ****. This sounds like an awesome idea. Hope you're able to get an accurate model of the device (and share). I'd like to do something like this as well. Maybe a cool case with "bolts" printed into it to make it look like it was pieced together and NEXUS cut out in the back
I haven't even been able to find an official press render of the thing over 500x500 or so in size so I can start working on a .psd for the device. Good luck finding a 3D reference lol
Tapatalk² from my Optimus V
Good luck with this! It looks cool but I doubt you will find anything this early before it's even released. Your best bet might be to just wait for it to be released and then get someone to make it for you or do it yourself.
good to see positive reactions about it, if i cannot get a reference model i might just have to "reverse engineer" the entire thing.
Though this would be quite the complex process, mostly because it's a highly reflective object.
Most 3dscanners are based on laserlight that bounces away if the object is shiney. Though i dont feel like spraypainting/powdercoating a brand new phone to make it non-reflective
Another way would be to use a tactile scanner that uses a 3 axis "stylus" to put points down in 3d space.
Though the point of such a device is always razor sharp, i dont know how it will fair against gorilla glass and the plastic on the side.
Also this method is very succeptible to having the model slide around while trying to digitise it, even if it's just fractions of mm's
ah well, ill first have to get my hands on to the phone....

I'd suggest checking with a T-Mobile store and seeing if they have any plastic dummy phones or check eBay. Spray painting that would be much less harmful haha I'm definitely in this project. I'd like a cool custom case

Any updates on this? A quick google search popped up a few models on a site called turbosquid, but the price is fairly prohibitive.

Was looking at possibly designing a case and/or dock myself. Any luck with finding a 3d model of the Nexus 4?
We could always try different sizes and see if they fit on the phone. Considering high prices of 3d prints, the best idea would be to just print some little parts and then compare with the actual phone. The cheapest dummy I found is http://www.trait-tech.com/product/T-LG-E960__dummy-phone-model-for-lg-e960-nexus-4.html so you don't have to worry that you'll scratch your phone. If anyone here owned a 3d printer, that'd be great.
Edit: found one 3d case - http://m.videobash.com/picture/view/id/95415

Did you get anywhere with the nexus 4 case?
I'm trying to get someone to design one to cover my note 2 battery in my phone lol.
The back of my phone is covered in electrical tape at the moment. Not a good look lol!

Can you help me out? I need a case, any case lol that's a little bigger at the back to accommodate my note 2 battery!

ill have to check, also i'm still looking into the models to see if they are actually based on cad and measurements instead of just visual reference.
For a holder/case/expansioncase the model needs to be accurate to fractions of millimeters.
Bought one of these the other day, hoping to modify the bracket to fit, however to my surprise if you have the genuine slide cover you can fold it such a way it actually holds and works with no modding!! the silver plastic bar does flex but easily returns to its straight form when taken off. Only downside is you couldn't hold it for ages it is heavy.
just an idea
can you use it the over way around, so that the silver bar is on top and not gets pushed like this?

afraid not as the position makes the screen hang over the joy pad. you could adjust the pad so it grips more of the front bezel that would solve it. Hasn't done any damage to this one.
Interesting.

Is that the g910 gamepad? I tried that one and while it seemed nice for the price, it was a pain to connect for me. Many times I had to reboot the tablet, and the controller, turn bluetooth off and on, just to get them to talk to each other. I sent it back and bought a moga power pro. It works very well.

Yes it is, just wanted something cheap as they get knocked about anyway. Looks like they updated it as the D pad is not the standard XBOX360 one anymore, it connected straight away with dead trigger and nova. I am guessing build quality and battery life is nowhere near a moga, cheap though.
Ya, I really wanted to like mine. It overall worked ok, I updated the firmware and did everything by the book, but any time I would turn it off, then try to use it later, I had to jump through hoops most of the time to get it to work.
I first ordered it straight from geekbuying for $27 or so, but after a month and a half waiting, I finally canceled that order and picked it up from Amazon, also from geekbuying, but out of Amazon's warehouse. I paid about $32 or so that time. When I decided it wasn't good enough really, I found the moga power pro (newest one) on Amazon's marketplace for $50 I figured it was only about $17 more to get the real thing.
Overall I don't regret sending the g910 back and getting the moga. It has worked flawlessly so far. Plus the app is pretty nice too.
I hope it works out for you, the reviews were really good, that is why I went with that one first.
update
Although using the cover case folded as a means to grip the tegra worked, it wasn't very secure and could easily flip forward. So I opened up the game controller, changed the analog sticks as my dog manage to chew one off. In doing so I was able to look at the mechanism for the phone grip part, the arm is far too short to allow a 7inch tablet, however using an old piece of plastic, cutting it down to length and adapting it to extend the original arm it is possible now to fit the tegra securely with or without the case cover, the spring loaded grip works just as well as the original.
Hi all,
lets get things rolling, so far the only one which looks like a copy/paste from Spinen :/

This one looks good to me.
So I got my wife the E4 Plus, and I am quickly learning that when it comes to cases, you need to be careful about which version you have. The punch outs for the international version vs the US version are different. The ear phone plug is on the opposite side, and the mic on the back as located off to the side, not over the camera. She ended up with this case - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073P5M8T3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_KGAKzb1Y9HMJW I'll put up a review when it arrives tomorrow.

So, like I said, you need to be careful on the making sure you get the case for the right version of e4 plus you own. In my case, I own the US variant, and the link above does fit is nicely. Only complaint is that you have to make sure the buttons line up perfectly when you put your phone in it, otherwise they require extreme amounts of pressure to register a button push.
