[Q] Speakerphone on D+ - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi There!
We have a defy original and the speakerphone is basically completely unusable. I have been told by the company I bought it from that it's because the speaker microphone is half duplex.
Does the Defy + have the same crappy speakerphone?
Thanks.

yup!
I only had issues with the ear-piece speaker, it started to crackle and fail eventually, but it was covered by warranty

[Q] Interference noise during calls

Hello,
the speaker of my Milestone2 (where you put your ear while talking on the phone) produces interference noise during a phone call. You may know this annoying sound from making a phone call or send/receive a SMS next to powered unshielded speakers.
I ordered another Milestone2 to check if this noise problem was a hardware defect. Now I have two MS2 with the same annoying noise.
Did motorola forget to shield their speakers. Who builds a mobile phone that cannot handle the RF it uses?!?
Anyone else got a noisy Milestone2?

Headset - Earphone Problem

Hi all...
My daughter has a ZTE Blade that I flashed originally to a custom rom running Froyo... for Xmas she got some new headset in ear headphones (one's with a mic)... The sound through these when plugged into the Blade is similar to listening to music underwater (muffled and echoing).... if you press the mic button the volume increases but is still poor quality. However plug in a normal earphone 3.5 connector (two bands rather than three) and everything sounds fine... I tried the earphones on other phones/computers and there is definitely nothing wrong with them. We also bought a second pair for my other daughter and they were exactly the same, I then tried my supplied Samsung Galaxy SII headset... again same thing... muffled and echoing sound.
So the problem was with the phone.
I decided to re-flash the phone this time with a Gen 2 Cyanogen Gingerbread rom... I tried the audio again after flashing and it seemed to have been fixed (admittedly I only played a track for a few seconds). Over the course of the day my daughter has reinstalled her apps etc... went to listen to some more music and again the same problem... muffled and echoing sound - pop in some normal headphones and everything is fine.
I have searched around and the problem seems to have come up before a few times but no one has really been able to track down what the issue is. I was actuallt thinking it might be app related (Skype or Tango for example) but I have stopped (not uninstalled yet) these apps but it makes no change.
So it seems that the Blade will not work with any wired headset/mic - any idea's please?
I found it wouldn't work with a headset that has a mic on it, but I got it working fine with my £5 jvc gummi headphones although I'm not getting much in the way of sound quality and volume. Still miles better than the stock headphones in the box though

I know this is an old topic but I found the solution and some others may have the same problem:
There are two kinds of connectors, they have ground and mic signal switched.
If you get the wrong one it will work but sound (mostly speech) will be very bad, this results in a very poor audio quality.
So just get the correct ones (Apple-Style) with mic or the ones withour mic will also work fine.

[Q] Microphone Problem

Hello!
I have the following problem with my Defy (red lens).
When I turn on the speaker during a phone call, the microphone on the front of my defy becomes very quiet. Logically the microphone should become more sensible, because usually you turn on the speaker to speak free, without holding the Defy at your ear. But what happens is the opposite: it becomes less sensible. On the other hand, I discovered that the rear microphone becomes more sensible when I turn the speaker on.
Is this normal? Does anyone have the same problem?
The microphone (at the front) of my defy seems to be fine, because I can make very good recordings with the app tape machine. That's why I think it is a software problem. I have a red lens Defy and I have this problem with MS2Ginger, MIUI and a Defy+ Gingerbread Rom.
Hi!
Are you sure it's a software issue? As I read this there were modells with hardware bug.

[Q] Help! Defy external speaker repair (not the earpiece speaker)

Hi,
My Defy+ (MB526) does not have any sound when playing back audio files (Music) nor the ringing sound can be heard when the phone rings.
I am certain, the "external" speaker is dead. However, where exactly is this external speaker located?
Initially, I thought the ear piece speaker is the same thing, so I purchased a couple of spares, opened the phone and tried to replace it. The internet have lots of instructions on how to replace the "ear piece speaker". Obviously that didn't work, nor can I see anywhere on the electronic board a thing that looks like an external speaker.
Pls help me... It's confusing.
Thanks in advance.....
im on the same problem

Motorola Defy loud speaker
I have busted earpiece speaker and ordered new from ebay.
There are replacement loud speakers too.
Search "motorola defy loud speaker".
It's located in back side housing frame.
Search it too..

Thanks! I see it now.
I managed to separate the board from the rear housing. (I needed to remove the sim and the SD card and it was easier to separate it, not sure if that was indeed true)
Once I can see the speaker part (looks different and also larger than ear piece), I finally knew which part to purchase from eBay.
Thanks again!

Microphone crackling noise

So i once dropped my phone in water (it was an accident of course) and since then i've been getting crackling noises on my microphone. I've bought and replaced the microphone board but still it persists, any idea of what else i can do ?
