1. Use USB setting—Wireless & Networks--Tethering& portable hotspot---USB tethering (Be sure the you can use handset to log Internet normally, and connect the handset to computer with data cable, make sure the computer driver is installed)
2. Use WIFI setting—Wireless &Networks--Tethering& portable hotspot---Portable WLAN hotspot (First please make sure you can use handset to log the Internet normally, and make sure the computer has WIFI function)
Note: When Blade is used as hotspot, theoretically speaking, there is no limit for using device, however, when multiple devices using public bandwidth, it will cause to decrease the network speed.
too much steps, let me tell u
switch on bluetooth
add device in pc
"connect using" option in windows to connect via "access point"

This might be an enormously newbie question, but if I have a work desktop connected to the internet via the LAN, can I add a bluetooth dongle to it to connect my Jasjar to the internet?
I think you can. You can sync your xda with Active Sync. Then it will use the internet connection from your PC, just like when you have it connected with the USB cable.
I just tried this and it worked.
What you gotta do is the following:
- Open your bluetooth connections on your PC
- Add new device
- Make sure you have your bluetooth turned on on your Universal and make detection of other devices possible
- Add your device on the PC
- Now go to the COM port tab
- Choose add and choose a new incomming port (your PC will make a new COM port, make sure this number is below 20)
- Open Active Sync on your universal and choose "menu" connect with bluetooth
- Now Active Sync will say that there are no devices are installed. Add a new device (your PC)
- You will see that the service "Active Sync" is available. Now check this option
- Now you can make the connection with your PC and also will be able to use the internet connection
A friend told me that the internet connection won't go faster then GPRS, so don't expect much. But you have your free wireless internet connection within a range of about 10 meter from your PC.

Hi,
Is there a way, to only use GPRS/UMTS connection while the device is connected via USB? When I'm connected via USB, my Hermes tries to use the ActiveSync connection for Internet, which won't work (company proxy), so I want to have UMTS connection, but still be able to remote-control via USB...
mine use gprs when i choose my isp in settings->connections->connections-Advanced-select network
even when connected to activesync
hm, I have for both settings there "E-Plus Internet", i.e. my provider... still it doesn't connect. As soon as I disconnect USB, it works.
then i would try unchecking enable advanced network functionality
in usb to pc in connections
still the same... doesn't connect

On the PC head into ActiveSync, open up the Connection Settings for the device in question, try unchecking "Allow data connections on device when connected to PC".
Disconnect the device from USB, then reconnect and sync, then try to access the internet on the device.
hm, I thought exactly that option should be checked, because it says "allow wireless connections while connected to the PC". Nonetheless, I unchecked it, dis-/reconnected it, still no go.
Is this because you dont have the net on your PC?
Maybe your provider doesn't allow tethering. I.e. using the phones internet connection whilst connected to the pc.
You can use PDAnet ,download trial from here
http://software.palminfocenter.com/product.asp?id=4237
this will allow you to use the internet whilst connected to the pc, but this will also mean the pc can also use the internet of the phone, i am not sure if this is exactly what you want, as you dont indicate the reason why you want to be able to connect to the net on the device. Anyway using PDAnet, you will still be able to sync, browse and use the device as you normally would, as well as access the internet on the PPC and PC.

There is internet on the PC, though behind a proxy with auth (and some blocked stuff). Since the proxy auth isn't RFC conform it seems, using the internet connection on the phone doesn't work with most programs (i.e. weather updates), some programs even don't have a proxy option (and the one from "connections" doesn't work either). That's why I want the phone to connect itself by UMTS, while I still can remotecontrol it with PocketController. As everybody already said, it should be possible.

mh, the PC shouldn't use the phone as modem, that would violate the security restrictions here badly. I'll try PDAnet and see if I can restrict that.
Edit: PDANet also can't connect. could it be possible, that it is some Windows policy on the Desktop preventing that?
Can you turn Data Connection off in CommManager on the PDA?

hm, not really....
I am interested in this as well.
I have the Titan (Sprint Mogul) and would like to be able to connect it to my work computer VIA USB and be able to charge the phone and control it via MyMobiler but the phone should use its EVDO cellular connection for the internet. Instead it appears to use the internet that my work computer has which blocks certain sites and ports for IMAP and POP.
I would like the phone to be able to check gmail (via IMAP) as well as go to any website I would like.
I tried to connect my laptop to the internet using Internet sharing and my blue angel GPRS connection without success. Anyone been doing this? any special configuration to be made?
1. make sure that your connection settings are correct
2. check your connection setting of your active sync (you'll find it in the options.)
3. just choose your internet sharing program in your blue angel
4. enjoy it..
regards
adri
Well i tried everything i can and still it dosent work. Can i use a different program for internet sharing than the default one that came with the rom? any special configuration for active sync?
Don't tell us "tried everything", because for me it means you have no idea what to do, so for sure you did not do the correct thing.
ANSWER/EXECUTE EACH POINT BELOW. Do not miss ANY (especially 3rd)
1. Do you want to use GPRS internet connection from you GSM operator to have internet access on your computer?
2. Does the internet connection work correctly in the PDA (you can browse websites using internet exploder)?
3. Disconnect BlueAngel from the computer. Disconnect your computer from Internet, if it has any other connection.
4. Run Internet Sharing application.
5. Choose a correct internet connection (if 2. was YES - default selection should be OK, but if it does not work, try other connections on the list, if available).
6. Choose USB connection on the 2nd list (you can play with bluetooth connection, when USB will be fine).
7. Press Connect.
8. When message shows up saying that device is ready, then connect BlueAngel to the computer using provided USB Cable/Cradle.
9. Wait, untill PC will recognize new device (Network Adapter) and test the internet connection.
If somehow this procedure did not work, pinpoint exact moment that did not work and explain what went wrong (exact message would be helpful).
I'm buying a TV with an ethernet port which has the feature of streaming via the net. Can I tether my phone to my PC and have the TV pull a signal from my PC using my phone as a modem? How would one do this?
Thanks!
this could be done using a pc and internet connection sharing or a cradlepoint router.
however, it will also be a great way to burn so much data usage to get your account suspended, warned or charged for overage.
Ive used massive amounts of data without being warned. In fact,Ive ran bit torrent. There is no way that I have not gone over the limit some month using the phone as my primary internet connection.
Im not entirely sure what the OP is asking, but here is what I know. You can use your phone as an internet connection in several ways. The easiest is using a hack to connect via USB or bluetooth. I have found this to be very unreliable. You can use a third party program to do the same thing as well. I use a program called PDA net which works much more reliably. You can also use hacks or third party programs to connect via wifi.
Your phone will provide a connection similar to slower DSL lines. You can expect 800-1200k downloads and 150-300k downloads (your millage may vary here, but that's what I have gotten in Ohio and Utah)
If you want to connect to an ethernet device there are a few options. You can use programs allow your phone to share over wifi and create an adhoc network. You can also connect your phone to an access point and then configure your network devices default gateways to point to the phone instead of the access point.
Hi, I got a laptop without a wireless card for internet connection. So I've been using my HD2 as a USB wireless device, which gives me internet everywhere. THat very nice, and it works extremely well, however I got a question. WHen at home and at work I would like to connect to the wireless router, and not to my mobile internet, is that possible?
Because even tho i connect without problem to my own router at home, I cant really make my HD2 use that for my computer. Is it even possible?
nope... and that is the whole purpose of a wireless card, to pick up wifi signals from a router
It is possible.
Use ICS Control:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377047
Setup should be as follows:
public interface: BCMSDDHD1
private interface: RNDISFN1
Connect your HD2 to WiFi network, click "Start ICS" and plug the cable in to your PC. Should work If you have XP, you should kill Active Sync process first.
Thank you, however I'm not sure that I do everything correctly.
There's quite a lot of settings in that pieve of software, is all I have to edit really the public and private interface drop down boxes? Nothing else?
And when connection to wifi, shall i then just minimize ICS controls, go to phone settings and connect to wifi there?
Thank you
What you want is for your phone to connect to the internet through wireless connection, not your phone's data/internet connection?
If so, then it's definitely possible. Not only at home and work, but also at many wifi spots throughout the world. How you go about it depends on some things.
Does your home and/or work wireless router connect straight to the internet (such as a connection from the wireless router to a cable modem, etc.) ? If so, you only need to know how to connect with the wireless router and your phone should default to that connection for internet when your phone's wifi is turned on. You can always turn data connection off when you turn wifi on to make sure it goes through wifi.
If your wireless router does not connect directly to the internet but one of the computers on the router's network does, then you'll have to use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on that internet enabled computer as posted about above.
I want my phone connected to the wifi router, simple yes. However, then I want my phone to share the internet from the router, with a computer connected to the phone via usb cable.
So my phone will actually work as a wireless usb device, connecting to a wifi router.
WMWiFi Router provides following options on the phone:
1)3G converting to WiFi
2)3G converting to USB
3)3G converting to BlueTooth
4)WiFi converting to USB
5)USB converting to WiFi
