For installing CyanogenMod 7.1.0 on the Nook Color, are these the best set of instructions:

Is there anything else that is better?

New owner some quick questions please :)

I have a new nook on its way to me and ive been reading up as much as I can on the potential this device has.
From what I have gathered so far it seems best to install Phiremod on this device.I dont have any real interest in the Barnes and noble software as I prefer Alkido and use this alot on my current tablet. I also want as trouble free experience as possible.
Questions I have are as follows:-
1) Is phiremod v7 worth going for yet? Or should I stick to 6.3?
2) Is it worth upgrading the tablet to B&N 1.2 update and using ManualNooter 4.6.16 to root it or should I stick with 1.11 and use something else? What is best here or does it not matter?
3) Can I use phiremod as my main rom installed to the internal hd and have say one of the honeycomb mods or cm7 run from a sd card? Naturally the sd would need a menu for this.
Many thanks to any help in advance
1) Phiremod is kinda old. I suggest the latest CM7 nightly, or MIUI (which is extremely simple to use)
2) If you install custom ROM, the BN Software is trashed. What's the point upgrading?
3) Stick with a good functional OS on the internal hd (call it the emmc) and put an OS you like but is not stable on the sd card.
1) But what about the latest version? I understand its based on a recent cm7 nightly anyway? Maybe you were not aware of it.
2) Yes this was what I wondered. Thanks for the confirmation.
3) Yes I was thinking this.So I can have say cm7 or a variation on main drive then honeycomb on sd then from what your saying. Thats great. Thanks
I believe Phiremod was built on cm7 and development has either stopped or is well behind. I would also recommended CM7 though. It really makes this device very useful.

Phiremod is just a themed version of CM7. The stable release of Phiremod is based of CM 7.0.3 and the test version of Phiremod is based off cm nightly 110 or something like that.
So yes Phiremod is outdated and the CM 7 nightlies and Miui releases are the most current roms you can get.
Thanks alot for the info guys I will go with cm7

Upgrading from CM 7 nightly build to CM 7.2?

I have done a search and had a hard time finding decent instructions for upgrading an emmc installed CM 7 nightly to emmc CM 7.2 stable. I have already downloaded the 7.2 from the site...but its been so long since I installed this nightly that I have forgotten how to upgrade the Rom....and I Use my R800x alot for gaming, but would prefer a bigger screen for some games that only use Touchscreen. the reason its so outdated is because i rarely use my NC much these days, but am getting back into using it more.
Current Rom: CyanogenMod-7-11162011-NIGHTLY-encore

[Q] Installing CM10 - Can you go back to CM7.2?

Hello .. I have a working CM7.2 Nook Color (via EMCC) that I installed per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030227. Based on what I've been reading - it's safe to run CM10. I have a second Nook Color I'm willing to lay CM10 onto. If for some reason CM10 just doesn't work well or not as snappy as 7.2 - can I downgrade to 7.2?
Why do I want to try CM10? Looking for better response from the device, 7.2 isn't snappy - seems laggy.. But like I posted in another thread, maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe expecting too much from the device?
Thanks for any suggestions!
I answered your question in the other thread.

My experience
I have just updated from 7.1 to 10 and, so far, everything seems better.
YMMV
Sorry, but could you give link to your response, please?
Thanks

[Q] 10.1 nightlies from sd card

Hello. I am currently running the 10.1 nightly on my Nook Color booting from sd card. Can I update to the current nightly right on the device in the settings or will that mess up the devices software? Im a total Noob in case you didnt notice.
p.s I loved the Noob intro video.
Thanks.

No you cannot do it in settings directly. Go to my NC SD installation guide linked in my signature and I describe how to update to new nightlies.

[Q] How to install ParanoidAndroid

I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could give me a quick rundown on how to get this rom going on my nook color. I know there's guides on how to install cm roms but nothing for PA. Don't need a baby step walkthrough either, just a general outline on how to do it is fine.
The procedure to install PA is the same as for CM - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030227
