My HD2 Is Finally Running WP7 - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hi just wanted to extend a thank you to Pdaimatejam for his great rom and easy to follow tutorial. I have finally installed WP7 on my HD2. I have posted this on my website Harmonnetwork.net. Thank you XDA Developers.

Updating WP7 in Zune
While I was syncing my phone with Zune I noticed the update link in settings for my phone. Will these updates negatively effect the rom installed on the phone if they are installed through the Zune update. I hope I am making sense. Thank you.

it shouldn't do, with yukis ROM it would have been ok, but I cant say the same for all these new ones and dispite being cab updatable there doesn't seem to be any effort in continuing the support.
try it, but you might need to hard reset and reflash if it all goes wrong.
The only thing I can think of that might bugger it up is if they update drivers...

Pdaimatejam's ROM is not updatable via Zune. If a new release of WP is released, only the Yuki/XBmod and HD2O's ROM's are going to be updatable via Zune. I believe these are the only two ROM's have Yuki/XBMod's update tweak built in. Pdaimatejam's ROM does not have the update tweak in it.
The only issue with HD2O's ROM is none of Yuki/XMmod's cabs work on it.

And bt and audio don't work correctly

congratulations! WP7 on the HD2 is nearly equivalent to the HD7.
HD2 + WP7 > HD2 + any other OS

Pdaimatejam Rom Wp7.5 Tango 7.10.8773.98 v8
Just updated to this new rom by Pdaimatejam. I must say thank you again for another great release. Everything seem to work fine. Just hope battery lasts longer than it did in version 7.9. Again thank you Pdaimatejam.

which android for my htc hd2?

i recently purchased HTC HD2 phone that comes with windows mobile 6.5.
I don't have a problem with it but some friends praised Android. I tried froyo on my sd card but it didn't work very well. it crashed and didn't load properly. Then someone told me that i've to remove windows mobile and install android fresh.
Can anyone suggest if android runs well on htc hd2? will i be able to use camera, phone, wifi, data, gps with android? But primarily it should work like any phone out there, after all its a phone.
Go to the HD2 Android Dev forum. There should be AmeriCanDroid.
That's a good stable build that I'm using.
SD base.
As far as I remember, AmeriCanDroid is for US T-Mobile users. If you use european version then I would suggest trying ROMs by Rafdroid (it's of course only my suggestion, but his ROMs are most stable for me.)
go to android NAND development and search for the stickies. there is a link which show a lot of android builds.
you can choose by yourself what kind of android you prefer (sense builds, stock froyo, gingerbread etc.) just give it a try
I´m personally on typhoons cm7 which runs really great.
but do i have to remove my existing windows mobile on my htc hd2?
will i be able to sync all my contacts, text messages with android?
Android works with google, so you can put the contacts in your gmail and it will sync with android on the telephone. Text messages wont work as far as I know
Just like the other people say, take a look in the android nand section and read the sticky's, they tell you everything you need to know.
I'm on the HyperDroid and works great
read thist thread, it will help you to decide.
ps: mods, this thread should be stick. its very helpfull to noods and more advanced users

Actually, they post US and ex-US builds each time a new build is released. Many ex-US users post there, but far too many US and ex-US ask the same tired questions over and over. Read the FAQ, and enjoy a good build.
id go for this thread HERE, which should help you get started.

Me too. It is stable and has low battery usage.
Development is in progress, the remaining issues should be fixed soon.

I followed the steps provided at thread provided by gizmolisa2006.
After step 3 was done, which was to install MAGLDR 1.13 and it flashed (if thats the correct word) ROM to 2.00.000.0 by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe.
after that i pressed the power key and it doesn't go into bootloader or the magldr menu doesn't come up. i did what it said in that video as well. but no luck.
now my hd2 is stuck on white background with pink "Stick Together" logo.
Can anyone please help?
Did you flash HSPL first?
cap
my bad, i was suppossed to install 2.08.hspl instead of 3.03.
its working fine now.
I installed gingerbread i guess.

help... i don't really know what type HTC HD2 i m using.. i m confused by so many types in the market, leoxxxx...t-mobile, htc sense?
i suggest hyperdroidgbx cm7 v1.0.3 runs great super fast and stable as all hell for me...only froze on me once so far and it was while i was streaming videos using flash...
great build
The most important thing is to get proficient at flashing your hd2 so that you can try out a few builds. Once you get hspl and magloader on your phone, I recommend coredroid simply because the instructions for getting clockwork recovery on your phone and installing coredroid are laid out fairly clear in a file with the download. From there you can try flashing other builds if coredroid doesn't suit your needs. I'm currently using hyperdroid and it's great for me.

MANGO update

did someone test it on our HD2 with this procedure http://windowsphonehacker.com/articles/get_the_mango_update_now._without_being_a_developer.-06-30-11 ? Works it or not ?
thanks.
It won't work since it still requires for you to install the beta over zune...
can't someone with a device it will work on do a dump of the rom post-install??

What Beta to install over the Zune ?
Sorry man, you are not the first one asking this. There are several other threads about the mango-update for now, why open another one?
No its not working. How should it, did you ever update your hd2 with wp7 over zune? I guess not. We have to wait till dft or the legendary yuki build a rom that will be flashable via magldr. there is no other way!
you need to remember my friend that the HD2 is not ment to have WP7 on it at all.
The only reason we do have it is because of some test drivers that were made way back, these test drivers are not finished drivers which is why we have a dodgy touch screen / battery/ camera / flashl
anyhow, even if it were possible to install the update on the HD2 via zune you would very likely end up buggering up your device. All it takes is for MS to overwrite one of our special drivers and that would be it.
so in short, the only way we have of upgrading is to reflash when someone releases a HD2 compatible ROM, thats it, as of right now there is no other way.
Ok, thanks for explanation.

7740 update

Has everyone got this update from Zune with BTTF rom? I updated to 7720.68 through Zune but no updates after that. Does it have to be forced?
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Didn't get the update through Zune, so updated with a standalone .cab, easy and fast. You might want to do the same and not bother waiting for Zune.
Hello, I have a T-MOUS HD2 running the original (working) WP7 by the DFT from late February. Do you think you could point me at a link for a more recent 7.5 ROM? I've been going in circles trying to go through all the forums...

Any noticeable difference with this update?? Is it updateable via zune?
Thanks
Seemed to speed up start load time. Apart from that, nothing. If it is, it didn't work for me.

[Q] Latest perfectly working Android version for HD2

Hi,
I have installed froyo a year back with help of XDA forum. Now that it has become very old and my HD2 is almost dying to run applications. Can anyone guide me to the links where I can download latest stable version of android, possibly with less bugs. I don't mind if it is gingerbird or ICS. But a Faster one.. Tired of using this damn slow froyo.
Please also point me detail steps to install it.
Thank you very much
I'll presume that you don't care whether it is MAGLDR or cLK.
Here is a full & short tut for installing Gingerbread 2.3.7 stable & fast (typhoon) with MAGLDR. :

Okay. I really don't know how I am supposed to reply to you.
If you got lost in that one short post, then I doubt you'll ever have your device updated.
Because that tutorial is as simple as it can ever be !
AND it also includes the links for everything you may need. (except sdext)
As per UPDATING, simply flash the newer ROM over the previous one after wiping cache and dalvik. (If not said that it requires complete wipe)
Updated to 2.3.7
Hi,
Finally, I have updated to 2.3.7 on my own. It was easy job, but I missed a small link yesterday.
There seems to smalls bugs in this. HD wallpapers doesn't work. Is there any recent update in this version??
Thanks,
Seems to work fine for me on the same ROM, try moving the app to your internal storage as widgets need to be on the internal storage, maybe the same is true for wallpaper apps?

[Q] Can anybody help me get my video camera working on HD2 Pdaimatejam Rom Wp7.8?

Hi guys. The HD2 Wp7.8 ROM by Pdaimatejam is awesome. Smooth, stable and alsmost the perfect daily.
I have one problem which is really bugging me; I cannot get the video camera to work. The normal camera side of the app works great and takes nice sharp stills but every time I tap on the video icon the app instantly closes.
I have re-flashed the rom several times always performing task29 and following the rom install guide exactly. I am using the same HSPL, MGLDR and radio as most other HD2 users running this rom yet I see no complaints on the rom thread. BTW - I have mentioned my issue on the rom thread but no response - maybe it's just me!
Can anybody tell me what this may be caused by or know anything else I can check? Is there a decent non-stock WP7 app for video recording I should try?
Thanks for your help....
i dont have any problem...
(maybe not important but) did you give root permission for all apps in root manager?
did you make hard reset after ROM flashing and first ROM boot?

Thanks for the quick reply. I had not given root permission for all apps only select apps so I tried this unfortunately to no avail, even after reboot etc. I have also done a hard reset on every fresh install.
Interestingly I tried another video recording app (the only free one on the market) called video diary and this had exactly the same problem. The app closed the moment I tapped the icon to record video. This at least suggests the problem isn't app specific.
May I ask exactly what setup you are using as in MAGLDR, HSPL and radio versions?
all is described in tutorial from my signature
using radio combination 2.15/5.51

Right, I went to town on this problem and could I find the cause? Hell no. I tried 3 different size SD cards from 2 manufacturers, all of which are 'compatible' with WP7 according to the community. I had tried reflashing Pdaimatejam's rom in every possible way always with the same outcome; No video recording. I had also tried all compatible hardware radios. I flashed about 20 roms to test from these OS's: WP7.8, WP7.5, WM6.5, stock WM6.5, Jellbean and ICS and video worked on all of them apart from the WP7.8 roms. BIG sigh of relief, I was starting to think this may be hardware.
I got the usual 'Ok' video and cam quality from the Android roms and the best quality I have ever seen from the WP7.5 roms. Seriously, the video is smoother and more crisp than the stock WM6.5 rom and stills about the same. Android may be versatile but I've always found It can't touch Windows for performance, quality of apps (although far less) and stability.
As a result my severe fustration in being defeated by this problem, I'm bailing on WP7.8 and sticking with the much cleaner HD2O© WP7 8779 (TANGO) ROM. Who needs to be distracted by stupid resizing tiles anyway, right?!
Thanks for the suggestions anyway dxdy :good:
