I see a few background services from B&N and i guess, they are uselles, so i would like to remove\stop them. But i'm unsure about each service. Does there are a list of these services and their descriptions? I want to be sure, i wouldn't break smthng, when i'll uninstall them...

which apps/service can I remove?

On my rooted NST there are a number of apps I do not use:
Music
Contacts (can't sync with google contacts)
Socials ("Socials is not applicable for this product)
I also notice that it's running several services:
CloudService
TTS Service
AFfileDownloaderService (what is that?)
WaveformDownloaderService (what is that?)
Question: Is it safe to remove the three apps and to remove/freeze(eg. via Titanium backup) the four services? I know that some apps (eg google talk) is needed for the market and I don't want to end up with a bricked NST. At the same time I do notice that when I use SystemPanel to "end task" by removing AFfileDownloaderService, WaveformDownloaderService and a number of other apps, NST still runs, memory frees up and CPU usage goes down (=battery), whic is the main reason I want to do this (but these apps & services restart when I reboot...).
Any suggestions & advice is most welcome. Thanks!
I'm wondering the exact same thing. Once I have some extra time to tinker I'm thinking of making a new backup of my nook and just going for it.

[Q] Freezing System apps without Rooting N4?

Is there a way to freeze apps (just like you can freeze with XXX) without rooting your phone. I don’t use most of google apps like hangouts, google play music, google movies, google now etc. It looks like google has made them system app taking away the option to uninstall them.
I would like to freeze these apps so they don’t even run in the background. But I want to have the option to unfreezing/enabling them if I need them.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

If you go to the system settings menu, then tap on apps, then swipe over to All, you can Disable most system applications. When you tap on the application, you'll see Disable in place of Uninstall. Just be careful about what you disable. For example, don't disable Google Play Services, since many apps (not just Google apps) rely on it.
thanks ...that worked

[qualcomm] (not rooted) list of apps safe to disable and how to backup stock

I have the unlocked version, am able to root, but I'd rather not break the warranty till I've used the phone for a bit and found it's ok. Is there a list of apps that are ok to disable, including both google and motorola apps? I don't know that I want to disable every package that contains the word 'motorola', or google... Plus I'm sure there are some that don't contain those words.
From what I've been reading google seems to collect all sorts of data from the phone whether you have set up an account or not. I'm trying to increase privacy on the phone in the meantime. I'm installing other open source apps in the place of the google ones (for maps, calendar, gallery, contacts, video, etc) and disabling the play store. I've noticed that I can disable a number of apps via settings-->apps or by using adb pm uninstall. I'm not sure if using pm uninstall via adb is better? It looks like it just uninstalls the app for the current user, which implies there are other users that can use the app? Is there a user other than me running behind the scenes?
If I remove the google apps can google still sync or read my contacts, calendar, app activities etc even when using different apps?
Sorry if these are dumb questions, I'm trying to understand how this works. It is interesting, but it is very different to try to understand something when you're not a programmer or don't have the tech background. I'm not terribly technical but I would like to understand what goes on. If this is the right place please let me know where to ask. I have been searching for info as well but not found answers.

Hiding Apps, but really, no trace.

I know there is many apps out there that can vault or hide my apps. Problem is it doesn't hide the apps when you look into the settings -> apps section, unless they are vaulted.
Unless there is something I don't know. I am attempting to root my device with Magisk, but if someone has a solution which will let me hide my games(and let them work, since most vaults don't let through Google Play Services) I would appreciate some advice.

prevent block remove Google Playservices for INSTANT Apps

HOW I DISABLED Google Playservices for INSTANT Apps
DISCLAIMER: Tweaking these apps and services can leave you with a broken, non-functional, steaming, smoking, screaming device; proceed at your own
risk. Just because I got it to work, doesn't mean it will work for you. I am not responsible for your PEBKAC errors. All Google stuff on my devices is extensively neutered, if it's not on your this may not work. I prevent updates to Play Store and Play services and the brunt of services run by those apps are disabled there's too much there to be covered in a simple guide but this instruction is what FINALLY clipped INSTANT APP'S wings.
I thought I'd found a way to prevent it from re-installing itself, but after two days it did, but at least this turns it off and keeps it from hogging battery and as much memory. As many have pointed out, freezing doesn't, but but turning off the SERVICES as outlined here, it slows it down a lot.
ROOT IS REQUIRED, the only way to block it without root I know of is disable the Play Store, go someplace else for that and don't hijack this information, it's not about using 3C, facebook, Play store, relationship problems or political unrest, it's about STOPPING Google's Apps: Play Store & Play Services from installing "Playservices for INSTANT Apps"
I think the PLAY STORE downloads and installs “Playservices for INSTANT Apps” under control of services run by PLAY Services
RECOMMENDATION: Every release of Play Store and Play services potentinally includes NEW services that might affect this solution. I recommend each time they are updated you check for NEW items that might trigger installation of Instant apps.

This is working for me on Samsung Galaxy S5 (G900V Lollipop), Core Prime (G360T), Core Prime G360V, J1 (J100M), LG VS810P and MemuPlay Emulator.
Call it what you want, Malware, Spyware, Shovelware, Vaporware, Bloatware to me Google Playservices for INSTANT Apps is all those things. I saw Google Playservices for INSTANT Apps on my phone December 2018 and cringed. It's taken me almost 4 months to come up with this working solution. When I say WORKING, I mean it prevents Google Playservices for INSTANT Apps from reinstalling and still leaves Google Play Store functional.
THANK YOU! to the dev of 3C All-in-One Toolbox for providing their awesome tools.
