Update Me On X10a Progress

So I havent visited the threads for months and im wondering what kind of updates/changes have we gotten on the x10? The time I left was probably a few weeks after we got 2.1 on it. So im wondering how we are doing in terms of Android version, multitouch, etc. The number of threads some with 2.1 some about 2.2 and 2.3 are all too confusing so it would be nice if someone could update me.
Thanks.
2.2 custom ROM ( Free X10 by Z ) is almost stable, only video recording not working.
2.3 custom ROM ( by jerpelea ) is out for beta, with few issues, not yet ready for everyday use.
MIUI, SENSE, Cyanogen mods are being developed, but not as complete as other ones.
Dual touch update for Japan is out, the kernel has been extracted by Bin4ry and Dualtouch can be enabled on every ROM right now.

FREE X10 + HOWTO(also all themes included)

Black screen and lag on i9000 2.2

Hi guys,
I am new to android world n amature in doing techy things on my mobile. I have updated my os from 2.1 to 2.2 via kies.
I get lag n black screens on my usage. Can anyone help me?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i laso get some lag end som blackscreens
but i have already done the lagfix.
but i have the brazilian version, also with 2.2 with
baseband i900bvjjpd
kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected]_lation #3
dunoo if its maybe an app, but i have watchdog and there are no apps misbehaving :/
first of all i think your both in the wrong thread lol, wont get noticed much in this section.......... but anyway
Are you using 2.2 or 2.2.1 ?? there are alot of fixes in the 2.2.1 and is a lot quicker for a stock ROM.
if you wanted even more speed you could go for a custom ROM there is loads to chose from.... but it can get a bit technical so if your unsure DONT DO IT !!!
There are a few things to consider:
- as stated above, you should make sure you get the latest, because 2.2.1 should be available (even officially) pretty much everywhere
- after flashing a factory reset is recommended to get the best performance (do a backup before so you can restore anything)
- there are better kernels out there that can speed up things and make your experience smoother (speedmod, voodoo, tegrak, etc)
- there are custom roms out there that are junk free and should provide a richer better experience.
Hi,
I know my question may be weired to some of experience people out here.
but i am really confused
What is difference between linux kernal update and flashing rom.
how to update kernel on my samsung galaxy s (I9000 2.2 default by samsung)
Thanks
Kernels and ROMs go hand it hand, it pointless getting a custom ROM and keeping stock Kernel. or vice versa
if you look it the development section and look for kernels (speedmod, Voodoo ect) there is a detailed step by step guide to installing them, and what benefits they have... it will make more sense for you to read through it all, than it would for us to try break it down into simple terms

Question regarding "best way of flashing smoothness, fastest and flexibel"

Hey guys,
I'm kinda new to flashing stuff, and I'm interested to take a step forward to try out by myself!
Alright, the question is according from a friend of mine, he told me the best way of flashing my SGS is by flashing the first android firmware which was 2.0 (first one I think?) and then 2.1, and then 2.2 to have best "stable" and most smoothness without troubling my phone to be slow.
Is that true? I mean, the firmware should be nice and smooth anyway if you just flashing directly from a new CFW, right?
I was thinking trying to use Darky 9.3 Extreme CFW.
If you guys have any better CFW you guys know out there, it would be very nice and much appreciation of you to share bit info of me!
Thanks!

No need to downgrade if you are on 2.1

Their are loads of different roms to try check out the help i broke my phone posts before using one .
Personal recommend is the Rom Kitchin build your own easy to flash easy to change few problems .

Just go from 2.1 to the next. Likely 2.2.1 for you. Save the trouble flashing 3 Roms.

Best ICS experience is it Country specific ?

Hi,
I have been flashing roms to my arc s since I have had it, I have flashed all the custom roms both ICS and Gingerbread roms
Now purpose of this post is I would like to share an experience that I have had because I was very surprised. I had been running the xperia s GB rom, this was mainly because I found every custom ICS rom laggy and all had a number of issues for me, even though they are all very good in their own ways.
I flashed the Nordic ICS official as soon as it came out and again found it buggy and laggy.
This time I flashed the GB ICS, and it is honestly the best ICS experience I have had.
Now I am not sure that it will make a big difference but it seems to have done for me, could flashing the country specific rom to your phone make such a difference ?
I just thought I would share, I assumed all the roms would work the same just with different apps and stuff, but for me I flashed my countries ICS rom and it is the best experience of a stock ICS rom I have had
Try it and let me know?
Great Britain ICS from general thread flashed to my phone in Great Britain has given me a great rom
Just thought I would share, wasnt sure if everyone had flashed their countries rom
Not tried different ICS but the global version has been very very poor in performance.
About ROMS performance being country specific, even I have noticed this while using Gingerbread Arc ROMS. I tried ROMS from different regions but Nordic Telia gave me the best performance yet on my phone.
I do not know if it was a mere coincidence. But it was the case everytime I installed Telia.
However, I would say that the real culprit is the memory card. Xperia users should go for a class 8 or 10 SD card which surely gives it a performance boost.

going back to gingerbread

hi is there any chance of anyone cooking up a gingerbread rom for the L5 e612 i used alot of android phones now but the fastest roms are from the gingerbread roms i may sound bit wierd
Maybe if you make a 2.6.XX kernel for gingerbread
yea cos i really hate the way ics operates
