I am currently implementing an alternate method of Rooting which I have found to be successful by means of Pre-Rooting the factoryfs.img file.
Why use this Root Method? Well the main reasons are:
- You have a complete Odin Flashable ROM Package.
- No Insecure Kernels are used or required.
- You can flash these packages on Non-Rooted devices
- The Binary Flash Counter will NOT increase when flashing these ROM Packages.
- The Yellow Triangle will NOT appear at boot up.
- And finally, you only have to flash one file in Odin and you have a complete firmware including Root Permissions flashed to your device.
What Root Package is used in these ROMs?
- Busybox 1.20.2 (Newer ROMs)
- SuperSU 1.04 (Newer ROMs)
Note: Previously released ROMs may have an older Busybox and SuperSU package installed.
Please Note: This Root Method does not include clockworkmod Recovery. This is for people who only require Root Permissions.
If you do require clockworkmod Recovery, you will need to flash a CF-Root Kernel or other Root Modified Kernel. Old SBL is included in Modified Stock Packages so USB Jig may still be used.
New and Old SBL files are attached at the bottom of the second post in this thread should you require them.

As this is a time consuming process, ROMs will be added over time although some ROMs have been added already so keep checking back for updates.

Doesn't always work especially with new upcoming builds, you're bound to run into some trouble with everroot sooner or later.
lyriquid: Nice idea. I actually created a pre-rooted package like this some time ago with LPB. Took some trial and error, it worked. Had some trouble updating it later on. Was it worth it, sure, but in the end we have Triangle Away. This app just killed the reason for everyone NOT to root their phones with insecure kernels.
That is unless we are talking about a GB build of course. A prerooted XWLA4 with a stock kernel? Sounds good to me.

No because Mobile Odin Roots the firmware on the fly and I believe your device has to already have Root access to do this but this method gives you a Clean and Pre-Rooted Package to flash in Odin on PC which means you can flash to a NON Rooted device and gain Root privledges.

So yes this really sounds interesting
Join forces with some ROM kitchen so the user can build it's own pre-rooted firmware and flash it with some newbie's proof application (one button)

Interesting, thanks for your work! I'm gonna bookmark this and maybe try it out in the near future. I've been meaning to try out LP8 (am on LP7 Netherlands now), but haven't really found a reason to.
The XEU is UK, but will not give me any trouble, right? CSC is pretty useless if you don't use KIES anyway. No need to request a XEN CSC for The Netherlands then.

Can you elaborate on that 'trouble'? I've used Mobile Odin Pro and Everroot to root my device, but haven't yet found any problems with everroot. If there are in fact problems with ER, it would make flashing the firmware in this thread an even more interesting alternative.

Hi, CSCs arent really that important. All they contain are default language selections, bookmarks, and bundled apps. They are for if people who just want things to match up with the country they are in. Intratech has a whole list of CSC packages in his thread that you could simply just flash after flashing one of my Pre-Rooted ROMs. Then you will have Root and correct CSC.

Thanks. I had a hunch that would be the case, but I haven't located a XEN (Dutch) CSC yet in Intratech's thread (was looking at his Frankenstein LP8 ROM before).
I'll figure it out though. So far, I'm not experiencing any trouble with my current ROM, so until **** hits the fan, I'll just keep this useful thread bookmarked.

Leave it with me and I will upload XEN version of my rom and I will create a seperate XEN CSC for you to use with other roms if you wish.

Wow, I appreciate that offer a lot. If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to have a separate XEN CSC. Can't hurt to have on file, right? But don't let it take up too much of your time; I probably won't be doing any changes anytime soon, after five flashes in three weeks.

You can always root any ROM with adb or, (the easier way) with mobile odin pro.

Because people don't necessarily flash their countries stock roms... I know in Oz, being at the bottom of the world , we don't get updates until last. It's good to be able to have choices...

Same bug i had in the Polish version of Jellybean:crying:
When you put Google Play app together with other apps in a folder on standard touchwiz ui. Open the folder and start Google play. Then you download an app in the play store, install it and when you return to the homescreen ,the folder where google play is placed will not close and i get a force close of touchwiz.
When you install Nova Launcher the force close is not there.
I want a fully working and bugfree android OS on my S3. Who don't!!!
For the rest......silky smooth

Hi folks this thread is posted in order to help Portuguese owners of galaxy S3 with specific questions and specific hardware regional settings.

No, nothing will happen to your data or phone, you just get a better phone signal.

Sure, just extract from the tar file the modem bin file with 7zip.

With odin you dont need root. Just flash your desireble modem as modem.bin in odin. Dont tick anything in odin. Just modem and thats It.
And modem is not a tar file for odin isso .Bin

Also have a TPH S3 running ICS stock, bought in portugal. Tell me if you need anything from mine (you may need to tell me how to do it though)
Tph is in ics for now. The Bin file you can extract from original tar file. I think we dont need this now. Only will make sense when you use 4.1 roms. The point is to use latest firmware from Samsung With our specific modem. I m using lj5 (4.1.1) from índia and without The Vodafone modem Portugal I Get many network breaks. With The correct modem none. Thats The point. I advice you to update to lj5. And then flash The modem even for one of The 3 carriers. You will have a great gain in Android 4.1.1 on your S3.

Instructions For Flashing Firmware:
- Extract (unzip) the firmware file
- Download Odin3 v3.09 (From here or here)
- Extract Odin .ZIP file
- Open Odin3 v3.09
- Restart phone in download mode (Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons)
- Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
- Add AP_N7100XXUEMK4_2099172_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5 to AP
- Add BL_N7100XXUEMK4_2099172_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5 to BL
- Add CP_N7100DDEMJ9_REV08_CL1423182.tar.md5 to CP
- Add CSC_ODD_N7100ODDEMK1_2099172_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5 to CSC
- Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
- Click start button, sit back and wait a few minutes.
- If you encounter any issues with the firmware (Any FC, Bootloop etc)
- Boot into recovery mode (Home+power+vol up)
- Choose to wipe/factory reset. (THIS WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR DATA INCLUDING YOUR INTERNAL SD CARD!)
- Then choose reboot and you should be good to go!

I quit being brave after losing the IMEI for couple of times.

If you skip CSC flash it won't wipe your phone.

For other ppl: this is "clean" version of this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494460 so no new Note 3 features, no S-Pen features and nothing new compared to version linked (as it is the same version).That version was deodexed & pre-rooted, but it was touched by Mr. Lulong and he introduced also some changes in other places, eg. build.prop was edited; unknown what are other changes he made, because of that some ppl were afraid to play with it...
It is bundled with new bootloader with "warranty bit" thing. KNOX is included (as it is clean Samsung version, so no surprise). Not deodexed, not prerooted, flashing with SuperSU 1.65 won't work.
CSC is included (GLB, SMA, THL, XEV, XME, XSE, XTC, XTE, XXV), so it will do full wipe, if flashing like in OP.
Languages included: en_GB, en_US, id_ID, ko_KR, ms_MY, th_TH, vi_VN, zh_CN, no european languages (well - beside English :silly: ) & CSC's as this is Asian leakage (languages are the same as in version linked above).
PS: Don't ask stupid questions. If there was already N7100XXUEMJ5 asian leakage and this is the same version, but clean, what do You expect? Features are the same, cannot be different.

Yes and new bootloader is flashed when flashing (included: sboot.bin, param.bin & tz.img), so be carefull.

Removing sns.apk from system/app may solve the Google account dropping out issue.
Is the final release firmware or just another leak?

Google account dropping - fixed (at MI6 it can be fixed by reflashing gapps, helps in 99,9% cases, this bug was already fixed in earlier leak - MJ2), poor Wi-Fi - I got no such issue on MI6, so cannot compare.
