Hi all, I was wondering if you could help with an annoying issue I'm having.
I made a big mistake by updating to an ICS Rom, it worked fine apart from the accelerometer which stopped 100%. I did a backup, but system crashed and that's the end of that backup
1: I've since downgraded to Honey Comb Acer_A500_7.14.14_COM_GEN1, but Accelerometer still won't work, I don't know why, is there some fix or file to replace or anything like that.
2: Second question, because I updated to ICS the boot loader got updated also, is there a way to revert the boot loader back to the original so the end product would be a 100% original
This is a 16GB UK version of the A500, so any help would really be grateful. Even if I can get both the boot loader and OS to original I can then send it off to Acer for repair.
Kindest Regards to all
Garret
Man, I don't have an Acer iconia, but I have a Samsung galaxy player 5.0 and I just experienced the same issue after trying an ICS ROM.
When I searched for a way to solve my problem, I've seen many many users (increasingly, indeed) with the same kind of problem. It's hard to think that so many users are having accelerometer hardware fail. I believe it's not physical problem, mostly because this kind of issue happens after ppl try modding their phones/tabs or changing roms. I've seen some users talking about removing a sensorfile yamaha.cfg and trying to reboot the device. That didn't solve my problem, or executing:
"sensorcalibutil_yamaha"
It is under /system/bin/, you can see that with root explore.
Unfortunately, didn't work for me. Hope it works for you.
Best regards.
Thanks for your reply, I found a way of down grading the bootloader and OS to 3.0.2 which fixed it, then updated the odds to the latest and back working 100%.
Hello, same issue for me, accelerometer doesn't work anymore! I had yesterday the official ICS fota. Is there a patch somewhere for this problem?
after official Acer ICS update - Accelerometer quit?
My A500 pad just quit doing auto-rotate just about 30 mins after I applied the "official" ICS update to my device. I haven't done anything different, I did lock the pad into portrait to read some stuff, but unlocked it (manual switch) and it was fine then all of a sudden - it stopped rotating between portrait and landscape. The switch now has no effect on it. Of course there's not a setting to change the rotation either. Argh? I was so excited to get ICS - not this goofs on me? I see quite a lot of posts about people who experience this from hacking around on their tablet or phone - I haven't hacked on this one at all - its the "official" stuff... Reset didn't help.

I need to do the exact same thing. Could you please let me know what you did to start all over and get all the OTAs?
Thanks!
One could conjecture that if the accelerometer is stuffed, so would the orientation detection be.
Cause and effect?

Same here but a reboot cured it.
anyone find a fix for this ? im on the official with no root ics update and mine has also stopped auto rotating.
What did you use to do the downgrade back to 3.0.2?

The only solution I found so far is keepin rebooting, eventually at some point accelerometer starts to work.

If any off you had a leak and altered boot loader prior to install, it may have caused that. You should have had a 2 step optimizing process in the update, when I tested it on a leaked/flashed back version the bootloader was wrogn and that issue resulted. The stock had no issue and went through the full hardware optimizing process.
Also you shoudl have applied the market place update first, it has a pre fix to prepare it for patching.
Hey guys, i also have the same issue with accelerometer. I downgraded the a500 to Honeycomb and it fixed now.
I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516012

the guides to rollback posted above can be used on an official pad , with no hack or root stuffs ?
No, it rolls you back to rooted 3.2.1. with stock bootloader. Once ur back, you can load your official 3.2 rom on an SD, use Pwr + Volume down to update to it. Then OTA to ICS.
Just saw a guy posted a system of methods to completely wipe all the system files (not just most) and clean install ICS which supposedly fixes the accelerometer problem.
Accelerometer / ICS
I sent my tab back to Acer for repair, they say they replaced the "motherboard" and it did work fine on stock ICS as returned for a while. Periodically it would stick in orientation and not auto-rotate, but a power cycle with a few minutes in between seemed to always bring it back ok. NOW - nothing I do brings it back - its working the very same way it was when it originally experienced this issue. I don't want to send this slab back to Acer every couple of months and deal with setting it back up when they ship it to me a week or so later. This is rediculous or am I just being picky?
Anyhow - How bout a reference or link for the info on downgrading, wiping ICS and re-installing from scratch as mentioned above? That would be helpful if I knew where to look.
UPDATE: This morning, based on another post about finding errors in the bootlog, I downloaded the bootlog capture app, ran it, and poof - the auto-rotate function came back to life - like magic. I'm sure it was NOT the app, but rather the fact that I had powered down the unit and let it sit all night long without touching it or powering it on/off, etc. so at least for now, I won't be sending it back to Acer for Warranty repair (AGAIN). BUT I might be listing it rather quickly on ebay and shopping for another tab that doesn't have this issue....
I have had this issue and normally a power cycle fixes it. I did have one time where it did not but I found an article that said to do a hard reset. You do this with a paper clip pushed into the very small hole. I did not lose any data.

Hi all,
it has been now nearly two weeks since the rom update leaked, and still so sign of an official update on htc website.
I'm wondering if this was really the final rom version, if so i don't know why htc would wait another two weeks after the leak.
I heard that somebody got that rom from an ftp server which is used by htc to upload data before it gets released. In this case two weeks seems also way too long for a deployment.
Are there any signs of the official release? I'm curious to see whether there are any last minute changes done.
well it could do with both orange and tmobile (in the uk) need to add there custom rubbish to there phones?
I read about major improvements in speed.
BUT - I also read about weather DB issues, WiFi issues, a.o problems.
So, I am definitely going to stay put, until an official release.
I am not going to waste time on reinstalling software etc, by flashing something "maybe-this-is-a-rom-very-close-to-the-final-one"!
yeah of course the carrier updates will take more time, but im talking about the htc update for unbranded devices.
since i made the ruu update i can confirm speed updates (but not huge difference), and i can confirm that more often the browser seems to have issues when going online via wlan. connection is there, signal is there, but the browser cant open pages.
and my device actually freezed two times, i couldnt make softreset and had to take the battery out. annoying.
but overall im satisfied with the performance optimization, still i will make another update as soon as the official rom is out..
and another minor thing: updating weather information manually will result in three updates. the app will update the weather data three times in a row, even though you only pressed update once,
I've had none of those problems, just checked the weather and it seems to update just once. I did have to pull the battery a couple of times BEFORE installing this new ROM when my phone totally locked though.
two weeks?? that's wrong.
The user who uploaded it, __htc__, leaked 2.73 on the 3rd of September....5 days ago.
they release to the ftp, this allows the repair centres, factory and call centres to get it, and then they release it on the website.
yes it is the final version.
if you want it, download it now, or dont. it's up to you, but yes this is the final release and it will be up soon.
rom t-mobile
@rhedgehog hi mate this might be silly but will this update work on locked t-mobile or willi have to root said device?
ps dont slap me to hard if its been asked before lol

yeah two weeks was maybe too much. I was hoping this is not final since i have some new issues since i made the ruu update:
- peep widget updates only every 30th try. I'm trying to update the tweets and it doesn't work for about 20 times, and then somehow it works after many more tries. When i open peep app i get an error message that the service is not reachable.
- wifi has problems. many times it seems the connection is dead, when technically everything is ok.
- freezes (but i installed about 40 apps, maybe this was too much...)
- keyboard has sometimes lags. i never had ANY lags inputting text before the update.
- more force closes by 3rd party apps.
- touchflo force closes seem to occur more often also (but i had them before too so this might be the same).
- freezes when the device is in sleep mode. I was at a meeting, not doin anything with the device. Then i wanted to check the time and the display didn't power on. So the device freezed during some background process by android or any 3rd party app. I never had this problem before the update.
the good:
- yes its faster (homescreens)
- even the contacts list has LESS stutter, but stutter is still there. IPHONE 3gs is way ahead in this regard. i don't know why other lists on android are completely fluid while the contacts app list is not fluid.
- battery seems to last longer
overall the first impression was VERY good, but is somehow stained by the problems that surface after some usage time...i'm not 100% sure if the speed update was worth it...waiting for android 1.6 update, maybe this sorts some stuff out..
I'm using Modacos 2.0 rom, and I've not encountered a single one of the issues you are reporting here.
Did you wipe before installing the RUU version? If not, I suggest you give it a try. Alternatively, wipe and install Modaco.

the RUU update won't work on a branded device. You need root to install the new rom in this case.

hmm i didn't do a wipe. How can you wipe the unrooted phone manually? i thought the RUU update will wipe the phone. It explicitly says so when updating the device that all data is lost. to me this means: your phone will be wiped...

Well, Menu->Security->Factory Data Reset should do the job. To be honest though, I'd be more inclined to trust the "standard" Android way of updating your ROM than the HTC RUU process, because, as far as I'm aware, this'll be their first RUU for an Android device.
Regards,
Dave
Interestingly, the second poster here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557628 , indicates that they had a problem with the factory data reset, but a recovery image wipe fixed it. I wonder if this related to your issues?
Even if you don't want to flash the modified recovery image permanently to your phone, you could boot it using fast boot and then wipe.
Regards,
Dave
how does it work? how can i restore a revocery image? isn't this an issue with the latest RUU update, that flashing recovery rom is not possible anymore or am i mixing things up here?
Steps 1 to 5 in this link, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4257045 , tell you what you need to do to boot the modified recovery image. Note that this doesn't flash anything to your phone - it just boots off the image you've supplied. You can permanently flash the recovery image later if you wish, but since you took the RUU root, I guess you don't want to put anything "unofficial" on your phone.
I've no idea if you having RUU'd already will prevent this, and I'm not going to RUU my phone to find out, but I doubt you would be stopped booting using fastboot.
Regards,
Dave
okay, thanks for the info!
Modaco wrote on a thread that doing the RUU update will make it nearly impossible to flash a modified recovery image.
I'm going to work with my current setup for some more days. If i see the mentioned problem reoccuring more often, i will proceed with the steps in your post.
or maybe we will see some changes (if not to the rom itself maybe at least the RUU will get an update) with the official rom update.
bye
shahpur
Just searched and you are right, you can't boot the recovery image if you have the new HBOOT from the RUU. However, the situation is not irreversible!

Wow cant wait for tht, but 2bh I wud like T-mob to release their update as well at the same time as I am getting the G2 Touch on friday.
This doesn't belong here, but my lack of writing stuff prevents me from posting this where it is supposed to be

So. JV5/JV9/JVO builds from kitchen with CF and HC kernels cause soft-reboots on my SGS I9000. I tested all of them by now. Tried the Talon Kernel 0.2.1 with JV5 and JV9, which caused boot-looping.
So I kept reading and found out that I was not the only one having this problem, but it seemed to be solveable by flashing a stock JVO first.
I already had Gingerbread Bootloaders, flashed JVK a while back, so I tried a few no-wipe ROMs as I mentioned above. All with the same problem. I lost connection to my cell network and it didn't come back. Somehow connected to the WiFi, I suppose. I could reproduce it by getting a GPS fix. But that was more or less related to my phone using wireless networks for positioning, which means that it switches on WiFi for just a second but without telling me.
Anyways, I thought I might have been wrong about the bootloaders being the reason to flash the stock firmware, so I did as it said: it specifically said JVO+ in the tutorial, so I went through the hassle and did the following:
- Flash an entire JVO firmware
- Reboot
(that one took a while)
- Full factory reset via dialer code
(that one took a while, too)
- reboot again, this time into bootloader, to flash a hc-speedmod kernel, to have root access and CWM
- reboot again, into CWM, to flash one of the ROMs I tried earlier
I ran back into my old trouble. So this is not an issue of the GB bootloaders or a previously installed version. The phone keeps soft-rebooting.
I re-installed the stock JVO firmware and flashed the speedmod kernel again, rooted via CWM menu and now I am just recovering my important applications via Titanium. Nothing bad happened yet, and it would have, with any of the kitchen ROMs Trust my, I almost tried them all
Nobody else wrote anything on that, so I thought I'd let you know there's no need to wipe all your data (like I did) and hope for the soft-reboots to be gone.
There's something seriously wrong there.
Anybody else having the same issues?
Cheers.
Andreas
Yep, I had a whole lot of trouble with the Kitchen JV5 release yesterday, ended up giving up and goind back to Darky's 10.1. Mine would boot, and when doing a media scan, would soft reset itself. I could get it to work eventually by powering down before media scanner completed then powering up. Bit odd - tried three builds of JV5 with different kernels but they ended up all being screwy. Ah well, will see what JVP brings...
glad to hear that I'm not the only one crazy enough to wipe his entire phone for a new (and fast) operating system.
Anyways... I am now back to my old status. Re-installed most of my apps, sync behavior, BT devices, wireless APs, etc. blayallah...
JVO with a hc speedmod kernel is by far the best and fastest ROM I have run so far.
Kitchen builds are dead to me until some of the people who ran into the same problems as I did confirm that those issues have been dealt with.
Just for your information:
- battery life seems amazing, at least regarding to the sensor. Hope it's any accurate. Had it unplugged over night and lost 22% battery life with WiFi on in a bit more than 10 hours
- it responds VERY fast, compared to any other ROM I had before
- bluetooth devices have to be set up again, for some reason my phone doesn't like my headset any longer. I can hear people talk but they can't hear me. However, the microphone does work when I use my headset for text2speech. Weird.
Anything else seems just the way it was before. Just faster.
I'd be glad to hear if someone could still help me out with the soft-reboots, if somebody else decides to use the kitchen builds either way I won't until somebody else tells me it's working now
Andreas
Why would u need to SOFT reboot ?
I don't *need* to soft-reboot. It just does that. Modem crashes, lost network connection. The phone doesn't actually entirely crash, it just restarts the network service and your phone is going to be offline.
That's a soft-reboot. No entire system crash or kernel panic, just the modem crashing.
That does happen when things are messed up
I'm having the same issue: on a JV5 and JV9 RomKitchen build with a JVO modem, as soon as I get a GPS lock, the phone soft-reboots.

guys, why dont you try the JVP v7 builds, its much better.
also, please select the default boot animation, else it will go into bootloop.
I can confirms that doing a no-wipe upgrade to JVP v7 fixed this soft-reboot issue.
Thank you for that information. I'm not in a flashing mood right now JVO is running just fine right now. Anything about JVP v7 that's worth the try?
JVO is running fine for now. So I'm not feeling like flashing everything over again.
Is there a simple way to just dump my current phone status, its ROM and everything somewhere to my harddrive and re-flash all of that over in case anything goes wrong?

its pretty much the same stuff except very good speed optimizations, 2.3.4, and few UI tweaks.
its been the same since the first gingerbread leaks. we flash it for new builds dont we
...and now it's just pissing me off. JV9 Kitchen Build. On GPS Lock I get soft reboots. What the hell?!
Trying another one now... crap. I thought That would be fixed by now.
So. Kept me busy, just to be sure: Each and every combination I tried using 2.3.3 from the kitchen caused soft-reboots on GPS fix. The phone was very fast with the Talon Kernel and Ext4 FS, but I can't live without GPS
So I tried a non-wipe install over one of the not working 2.3.3 roms.
I'm on JVP now, not as fast as Talon, so it seems, but GPS works, getting a fix at my window within 5-10 seconds, no crashes whatsoever.
So. If anybody else experiences crashes like the ones I mentioned in the opening post, I can also confirm that the JVP ROMs seem to fix the problem.

...as much as I hate talking to myself, it's still regarding the same issue, so I have to ask:
Saw the new kitchen build (JVR).
Two questions:
1. Is the soft-reboot issue finally fixed?
2. Is there a little language-switcher-button on the bottom left of the swype keyboard?
I use the JVO swype, and it has that button, and the new ones don't seem to have it any more? It's really nice if you need to switch between two languages all the time and you don't want to go into settings every time you need to switch.
Anyone know that? http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQC6orm5ZMAju2VzczB3MCbwEPeSH9yrYI6wxfdDGFCvkdpe7lQRg <- that one right here has it. Took me a long time to find that, because no swype version but JVO seems to have that feature.
I'd be glad about any answers to those two questions.

Guess that makes me crazy too
I've also been tinkering with customising ROM's myself to get to the boot-loop - getting pretty proficient at it now (guess I should read up a little more first)
The Official OTA 4.0.3 ICS update broke auto rotation. The rest of the thing is running smooth as butter, but no auto rotation and the switch isn't doing anything.
Anyone know of a fix to this? I had this prob with the leak but after rooting and reinstall leak from scratch it cured itself. This one isn't doing that.
Is there an app to set the orientation of the screen manually that i can use in the interim??
------------------------------------------
400+ Views later, i think quite a few people have this issue and are trying to find a solution to this.
So far, thank you networkdawg for your app suggestion for manually rotating the screen, however that is a paid for app with a few too many options for my need. I'm currently using Mantano Reader Free to rotate my screen.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate
------------------------------------------
Before i accidentally upgraded to the ICS leak, i had my old HC bootloader and was running Lightspeed flawlessly.
Does anyone know of a way to downgrade the bootloader back to HC so i can run a custom bootloader?
OR
a custom bootloader for ICS?
------------------------------------------
Ok so in the end i used jazzyjames' tutorial and blasted HC + HC Bootloader back onto my tab (accelerometer now working once more), rooted, ran Acer Recovery Installer and loaded Light Speed ICS once more.
Everything is working swimmingly. No issues and i got ICS running like a champ.
When the hardworking devs in the dev section have streamlined the ICS bootloader unlocker and installing of a custom recovery a little further, i may try the ICS bootloader once more. But for now, to just have a functional tab, im sticking with the old stuff a little longer.
Thanks Civato, Blackthund3r and jazzyjames for their excellent tools and tutorials. I could not have done it without their help.
------------------------------------------
Update May 08 2012
Did something new, reverted back to stock 3.2.1 (the Gen 2 that was used in Jazzy's revert tutorial), did an OTA upgrade to ICS Official. On first run everything worked.
The minute i rebooted, the accelerometer stopped working.
Followed Civato's tutorial down to the letter, got the custom ICS bootloader working with recovery. Ran like a charm.
Installed a custom ROM (Lightspeed), accelerometer was still not working.
MY TAKEAWAY ---- The accelerometer issues is not a problem with ICS itself, but related to the new chipset firmware and bootloader included with the ICS update. I could be wrong here.
Anyone have any other insights into this?
Back to HC bootloader once more (accelerometer working again) no dice with ICS bootloader :S
I'm not aware of any apps that will switch orientations, only lock it.
Have you tried switching the lock to off then rebooting to see if that resets it?
I have noticed the orientation check isn't as sensitive as it used to be so sometimes I have to wait a few extra seconds or orient the tablet a little more [than usual] to get it to switch over. But it does work.
I have the rotation problem also. As a workaround, I installed this and it works great, although manually.

veer01_42 I'd be interested in your review of that app if you use it and/or pay for it.
I have the same issue. I have a couple apps that are orientation locked and I can use them to rotate but it's very annoying. Hope this gets fixed soon
anyone try a factory reset to see if that fixed it
A factory reset fixed it for me
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
Been factory resetting this thing all night, no beans at all.
With the 4.0.3 leak, after one reset it worked for me, but i never got it to repeat again. So don't go factory resetting your tab in a hurry if you know whats good for you, especially if your rotation is working.
Good app, lots of options, but for what i want, this app is too much and it puts an icon next to the clock for quick access, but you cant preset the orientations there. There are only three, locked, auto and whatever you have it in now.
To get to the other options, tap the notification and it brings up a menu with all the other orientations (over 10 of them) its too much for me. But its an extremely powerful app.
Not worth the money as a workaround to a stupid accelerometer.
Encountered the same issue. I was in Portrait mode, playing Draw Something, and suddenly it just rebooted and went into Landscape mode. After a factory reset, it is not fixed. Not sure where to go, but this is highly disappointing for a tablet I paid close to $500 for...
Try wipe cache, it works for me. All said methods in the forum doesn't work for my tablet though.

Do you mean Pwr Button + Volume Up while toggling screen lock switch?
Or is it something else?
On some a500 that were rooted and accepted the ics ota, a few things got broken during the upgrade. Flash a stock rooted ice rom, but before you do go into recovery and and select backup an restore, click on toggle backup of internal storage. Then you should see enabled on the screen. Then do full reset in mounts and storage plus your normal wipe. This will fully format everything on your tab but sd . When you reflash the new ics rom everything should work fine.

You mean the 4.0.3 Leak, install that and then use the one click root tool available in the forum?

Are you talking about Installing the V3 ICS recovery or the original honeycomb?

This is in the ICS V3 custom bootloader/recovery right?
variations on problem for different versions
More pieces to the puzzle.
I just downloaded and installed Acer_AV041_A500_1.041.00_WW_CUS1 (very close to stock OTA, but rooted) from XDA and applied it over the stock OTA I had received from Acer directly, Acer_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1.
Under Acer_AV041_A500_1.041.00_WW_CUS1 screen rotation (and the error 26's) would not clear. I could not get the rotation to work at all, even with multiple reboots, and hard (pinhole) resets.
I restored to Acer_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1 and rotation is back to it's unstable self, but at least a pinhole reset will clear it.
As a noob, I could not post this in the thread where it applied. I hope someone sees it and passes it along.
Problem: the tab does not automatically rotate the screen image when you rotate the orientation of the device. The lock switch is "unlocked". The problem arose after the ICS update was applied.
I found this link in another device forum that seems to be dealing with the same issue.

Basically, he replaced the accelerometor sensor driver files I think.
Hopefully one of the developers here will see this and can hookup with the other author to see what is really going on finally.
Until then, we need to keep a safety pin handy to hard reset the A500 when it goes insane.

Clean boot your tab. This will force the OS to install itself again.
Note: Clean boot will erase all the data/information which is saved on your tablet. Recommend you to back up the data before performing a clean boot.
1. Shutdown the tablet
2. Press and hold volume up key (the key next to rotation lock) until you finish step 4.
3. Press power button for 3 seconds until you feel device vibrates then release power button.
4. Once you feel device vibrates, very quick to switch on/off "rotation key" many times (this activity has to be done very fast, otherwise it will not succeed). To ensure you succeed, switch on/off rotation key when Acer logo appears on screen.
5. Wait for a while (you will see Erase Userdata and Erase Cache on top-left corner on screen), device will reboot and start from OOBE screen.
See if that fixes it.
Didn't work for me had to factory reset tab to get accelometer working again. This is the second time.

Erasing as suggested did not help. Only thing found to help so far has been the pinhole hard reset. And, even that did not work once I flashed to "Acer_AV041_A500_1.041.00_WW_CUS1" version. I reverted back to what Acer had pushed to me, and it is working as well as before, meaning, it works as long as you have a pin ready to stick in it.
I have something to add to this thread. The auto-rotation issue started for me after switching to the V3 ICS bootloader.
I kind of found a workaround for it. (If you can call it that)
If I start or reboot my tablet in portrait mode. Auto-rotate works
If I start or reboot my tablet in landscape mode. Auto-rotate does not work.
This happens each and every time. It happens on Civato's new FlexReaper ROM & with Smaury's Lightspeed ROM.
Moscow? Thoughts?
Apparently how I finally solved this problem is by flashing the custom ICS bootloader V4 (read: V4 ONLY). Had tried V3, V6 and it doesn't work.
Had tried both custom ROM and stock ROM the problem will still persists with the said bootloader. But once on V4, it just works like a charm.
I have the same issue with the ratation.
Did anyone try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592170# ??
Let me know please

How do I flash custom ICS bootloader V4? Where is it available? And can it be flashed on top of a stock Acer ICS ROM?
FWIW, although I LOVE having Android tablets, issues like this drive me away from Android phones as I can't deal with this sort of bugginess on my daily use phone.
Ahhh, my other half has just phoned me about this, seems it started doing it after she dropped the tablet, I put the ICS update on it the other week, be nice if its a simple fix instead of a me having to take it to bits and repairs it fix..
Although I could give her my Xoom and then use that as an excuse to get myself something new
auto rotat pro
dude plz helppp......................I have to keep auto rotate off.:crying:
It will rotate Landscape, but won't return to portrait.
It wil flip Landscape on one side and Landscapeon the other side, but won't do portrait, till auto rotate is turned off.
Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this?
I guess I could whack it and start over, but that blows! That would at least tell me something I guess.
It's really irritating. And I dont wat to do......helpppppppppppp:crying::crying::crying:
So, it just popped up while my phone was idle, without anyone calling it in here first, YotaPhone finally decided to give us EU users the RU124 firmware! It looks from the changelog to be the exact EU equivalent to its RU counterpart, including YotaTravel, the return of the YotaStore and other stuff. It's been so long that I don't even remember, but I should be fine flashing this and then reflashing SuperSU and Xposed without losing anything, correct?
If you have stock recovery it will install fine. If not you should be able to grab the update zip from /cache and side load. Then reflash what you want.

Yep I'm still on the stock recovery (I just boot TWRP every time I need it). Gotcha, then I'm just dumping my Titanium Backup folder onto my PC as a precaution, and then I'll update and report back on SU\Xposed.
Looks like whatever Yota pushed at 117MB was the wrong thing - a failed update attempt and a reboot later, it's now 0.94 GB. Seems like it's the correct size in ftp://fw.ydevices.com/YotaPhone2/Firmwares/EU/ so now it should work.

Just as expected the 0.94 GB update file worked, I reflashed SuperSU and Xposed and the phone is working great on 1.124b.
What version were you coming from?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
EU1.87. I wanted to go to the RU version but never could get a KitKat RU firmware to boot on my device, so I just gave up and went back to the latest EU firmware.
Ah OK that makes sense. Glad you got it working.

Go mine today (1.1.44HK)
Updated to EU 1.1.124b with official yotaflasher.
No Su nor any hack.
So far no bug, it's a great device.
Hi there!
I'm waiting for my yotaphone 2 from this new wave from chinese shops. I ordered the International version. Is it safe to flash the EU version firmware over the "international" version?
And please, can anyone provide an alternative downolad link for the yota flasher?
The one from offcial website:
https://yotaphone.com/us-en/ypflasher/
is a corrupted zip file.
Thanks!
Edit:
I could get it from here:
ftp://fw.ydevices.com/YotaPhone2/YotaPhoneFlasher/
Seems there's a bug.
Almost each time i try to unlock phone (with power button) from EDP the pin keyboard isn't showing up, i must tap all over the EDP screen, way it's relocking then i can have the keyboard again.

Instagram restricted access to its API, so none of 3rd party apps now work properly. Thats why Instagram Cover was removed.
Hello
I deployed this great update a few days ago, and it clearly brings numerous improvements and fixes.
One visibly new bug annoys me a lot anyway, and that's why I am posting :
When I type a SMS on the EPD, lots of freezes occur. And today, I found a simple pattern. I type a word, and then I back-delete one or a few letters of it. Then I add new letters, and that frequently freezes the EPD for a long moment.
It's not 100%, lots of times it freezes under these conditions, few other times it does not.
I setup 3 languages to choose from (thanks to the update !) and the auto correction is ON.
Does someone else experience the same issue ? Any workaround or fix ?
Thanks
Appens to me 2 times, each time i needed to look/unlook the edp screen to solve
My problem is that with the latest update I need to restart my phone until it starts charging. Otherwise it will not charge ... does this happen to anybody else? Probably I should try to reset ...
no charge bug here
No charge bug here neither. Quite the opposite in fact, I would even say that autonomy obviously improved since this update.
And I confirm I have the same bug with the PIN keyboard not showing up on the EPD when using the Powa button. It happens very often after using the other screen, but unlocking by tapping twice is an easy and efficient workaround.
Surprising obvious bugs anyway, I hope the Yotagods watch us and intend to fix them.
