[Q] Focus 1.3 issues... - Focus General

After checking out the latest version of Ask Ziggy I tried to lock my phone back only to find that it wouldn't lock. Holding the power button down however did allow me to turn my phone off, so I decided to power cycle my phone. It then wouldn't turn on without my pulling the battery and reinserting it (it turned on automatically not with the power button) however after the samsung splash, it just turns off and is unresponsive. To get anywhere I've had to hold the vol. up button during the initial splash to get the phone to boot, however I still am unable to use my power button. Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this? I tried reformating but the phone turns off before the phone to format.
Att
No SD Card
Samsung Focus rev 1.3
Magdlr
DFT custom rom (sammy rainbow, in case they have since added anything else to the list)
**UPDATE**
Phone randomly fixed itself. Don't know what happened.

T-Mobile MDA Is Frozen: HELP!!!!

My MDA now all of a sudden keeps locking up on boot-up. It gets to the Today screen and then locks up. I can't do a darn thing. I can hit the power button and it turns the backlight on and off. But I can't turn the phone off or on once it's locked up. All I can do is take the battery out to turn the phone off. But when I go to turn it back on, it just locks up. I can't get it to do a damn thing. Now its says Rebooting in Safe Mode.....and is locked up. I have no clue what to do. I'm on Cust ROM 2.21.
Any ideas?
The same thing just happened to my SIM unlocked 8125 today! I can't even hard reset it. I am on 2.25. I can soft reset it, but a hard rest won't work... I am lost, it worked flawlessly for 5 days, I hung up with a telephone call today and boom, junk... Any ideas how to help me get this thing hard reset? If i press com button and voice button and hit reset, it is just as though I did a soft rest.
So i got it unfrozen by reflashing with the Cingular 225 ROM. Then I had to reload all my crap, well, just a couple of apps... I turned off the phone last night and now when I turn it on this morning, same friggin junk! This is going to suck if I have to keep reloading... The only installed apps were:
spb pocketplus 3.0
AEBPlus and devicelock to map comm button
Any ideas??
Try restarting (soft) with the SD removed. Double check that you have operability after bootup, then reinsert card and verify it is accessing it properly (load a file explorer). Then, do another restart with the card in (by holding down the power button, not the softrestart button) to verify all is good.
It just happened to me about half an hour ago but figured out how to get it running again. Decided to search for "safe mode" to see if there's another way around it, and came up with this post
Hey, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I didn't have a sd card in the phone, I am still waiting for it to be delivered. I have found that by not turning the unit off (holding power button down) it has not happened again. I have also opted not to install any applications until I get my card.
I will play more some other day. I will come back and post a result.

[Q] Omnia 7 broken - will not boot

hi
my omina 7 of 1 month is broken.
A few weeks ago it wouldnt boot and gave the screen indicating
the phone needs to be plugged into the pc, it then booted ok.
Yesterday it gave the same message but by the time i got it home
the message was gone.
Now it will not boot, it simply cycles through the samsung logo, the three network logo , then back to the samsung logo.
Will be taking it back to the three shop tonight.
is there a way of hard resetting the phone using the buttons?
I have only found info on hard reset from within the OS, which obviously i now cannot get to.
has anyone else had this problem
The only similar problem i found was with a focus
was on the windowsphonesecrets website under the heading restoration error
to hard reset the focus press the power, volume & camera buttons all together. that might do it.
Have you tried taking the battery out of the phone? Heard from someone that that solved the problem...
yes tried taking the battery out
tried it without the sim
let the battery completely drain and tried again
the hard reset button combination didnt work either
just constantly cycling between the samsung and three network logos
three have now sent it off for repair ....
I have a very similar problem. My phone randomly rebooted itself but now it sticks on the Samsung Omnia 7 logo. I've tried removing the battery but nothing.
Is there a Safe Mode I can boot into?
Damn looks like I have the same problem. Was playing a game.Phone rebooted on its own, all I get is the Samsung Omnia 7 screen.
Tried a Hard Reset. I get the options pop up for about 2 seconds asking if I want to format. If I am quick enough to press the Home button nothing happens it just switches off.
Did you try to flash the ROM ?
Me?
No?
Download mode was the only mode that seemed to be recognised by my PC.If it wasn't in warranty I would maybe have tried that, but as it is in warranty I will let T-Mobile deal with it.
my repaired samsung was returned mid january
a few weeks later and the same thing has happened again...
phone froze, switched it off , now will not boot again
it is definitely the same hand set or at least the same outer casing
the bill said it had some parts replaced
I wonder what caused this issue?
I had similar problem and this is how I solved it:
Make sure your Device is switched off (remove and reinsert the battery)
1. Press and hold the Camera, Volume Down, and Power buttons simultaneously.
2. Release Power when the phone vibrates, but continue to hold down Camera and Volume Down.
3. Release Camera and Volume Down when the Format prompt is displayed on screen.
4. Press Windows key twice to confirm the hard reset.
Enjoy your phone now
add 1 to the list, mine is doing thin, formatting doesnt help, reflashing doesnt help.
unless i can find a fix, im without a phone for 15 days while tmob plays with it
any progress?
Since applying the update that Samsung release yesterday I'm having the same problem...
Format didn't work, installing 'older' firmwares (I8700BSEJK1, I8700XENJK1 and I8700DBTJK1) didn't solve any issue
Anybody with more ideas?
I've also had this issue... I think it was caused by forcing the nodo update. Now I've updated it normally using this guide

I hope now the problem is solved.

[Q] Boot issues (loop, power button not working)

Hey everyone,
My mother's HD2 is having some boot issues. She's running tytung's Nexus HD2 rom version 2.9.
Every once in a while, when she attempts to turn it back on, the power button will not do anything. I know the battery is not the issue, because when I get it turned on by plugging it into a charger/computer (causing MAGLDR to boot automatically).
However, when this happens (and I plug it in to boot it), I run into something of a boot loop. It runs through the initial T-mobile splash screen, through the MAGLDR boot screen, to the HTC boot screen - before I get to the Nexus boot animation, the phone starts back at the T-mobile splash screen again. And, whenever I disconnect the cable from the phone, the whole sequence stops, and the phone turns off, unresponsive to the power button.
If I take out the battery and put it back in, I can typically get it to work just fine. However, this does not always work.
Ideas? All help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I've heard about hardware issues with the power button, might be that.
In any case, I'd recommend backup and reflashing the rom. By that you can find out, if the issue is still there after reflash - whether it's software or hardware based.
Hope it helps.

[Q] turning screen off crashes phone

I have the strangest damn problem on my phone. Sometimes, when I press the power button to turn the screen off, the phone just shuts down completely and then when I try to reboot won't get past my splash screen. When this first happened I couldn't get the phone restarted at all, even by taking the battery out and waiting for over 10 minutes. Everytime I tried booting it would go to the splash screen and then blank back off. It would do this once and then I had to remove and replace the battery just to get it to boot to the splash screen again. I thought this might have something to do with having a custom rom installed (sacs custom), so I played around with the phone and managed to get it in Odin mode. I then brought the phone back to stock. Everything worked so I figured I had fixed it, but then after pressing the power button one time I got back the same problem. It shutdown and would not restart past the splash screen. In retrospect, I think when I pressed the power button the screen did not immediately go off and so I clicked it a couple times in a row before it crashed, that may be what triggers it, b/c sometimes i press the power/screen button and it goes off without incident.
So, now I had the phone back to stock and had the same problem. It turned off and would not boot past the splash screen. By a stroke of good fortune I figured out how to get the phone booting again past the splash screen. When the splash screen came up, I started repeatedly touching and swiping at the phone; drawing little circles tapping at it, etc... When I did this the phone continued to load and boot up normally.
I installed AVG antivirus, to see if maybe there was malware on my phone. Scans showed nothing. I updated all of the software as well. I now have an app installed for turning off the phone instead of using the power button. This of course is not an ideal situtation, why should pressing the power button crash my phone like this??

Phone frozen

While setting up an app, the phone froze completely. I've already tried pressing the power button for 15 seconds, and even more, but with no success.
Even tried removing the SIM and put it back on to see if it would trigger the input PIN dialog but also without success.
The phone screen is still on, on the moment it froze (even showing at what time it froze) and is completely unresponsive.
Any ideas on how to proceed ?
Cheers!
