All that matters to me is speed, stability and battery life.
I have been running Darkys 9.2 for a long time now, but the battery life is getting to be very poor, so looking to try out something new.
Appart from the battery life if has been rock solid to date.
Any advice is welcome

There are plenty out there and only one way to find out, happy flashing

In my opinion, there isn't a perfect rom in this world which matches your description. However, if I were to choose one, I would choose Cyanogenmod 7. It is currently on Nightly, but it is stable enough for daily usage. Battery life is not that good, but its speed complements it, combined with loads of customisations available.
I hope that helps, mate

So why not flash stock odexed JVQ without any modifactions?
Try s.u.f.a.ce rom .Its a base rom with addons I installed the base and manually extracted and installed what I wanted from the addons. Almost a build your own without being a developer. Fastest rom ive tried with best battery because its light

Ive tried a bunch, I only flashed this ROM cuz Sam ported a theme I liked ended up liking the ROM since its a barebones ROM
Other then that ROM Id go with just a stock JVQ, Ive always fallen back to the stock ROMs after not liking something about the customs I installed
Thanks guys will give s.u.r.f.a.c.e a shot!
Just out of interest, does it have a lagfix like Darkys rom?
Cyanogen's battery issues are keeping me away from it for now.
I have it on my wife's wildfire and its a completely new animal since I flashed it.

Yes it does
F1 Galaxy S2 V6
no battery drain and smooth with galaxianEE2.4 kernel
GingerReal 7.1.4 , Semaphore 1.3.3. kernel, works briliant-e.
Search: Android Development topic
Stock is the best...
In the past weeks i tested several roms and kernels.
Roms: GingerReal 7.1.4, Surface 2.1, Juwe 5.2, CM7, Darky 10.2
Kernel: Speedmod, Galaxian, Semaphore
For me the best pair is Darkys Rom with the semaphore kernel on EXT4.
I never had such a smooth, speedy and long battery usage on any rom/kernel.
Ok i think the question is clear enough, in your opinion, right now, which is the best combination of rom+kernel that has the best speed-smoothness/battery life-stableness?
I have tested both Miui and Oxygen with Franco.kernel and personally believe that oxygen+franco is much faster with the same governor and cpu value with miui, but miui has much better battery life and probably better "looks". Also miui has never let me down when it comes to stable phone whereas oxygen has caused me some headache with some unexpected restarts.
I know that it mostly has to do with what a person wants but i would like to know what does the majority prefer
That's just me, what do you guys think based on your experience?
Thanks!
Miui

Miui until geno fixes the battery drain issue on cm7, and ofc franco kernel
Sent from my IDEOS X5 using XDA App
Miui works well for me !
Oxygen+franco, cuz miui doesnt support finnish language and cm7 not so stable for me

cm7 + franco kernel.
really don't know what's wrong with cm7... ok camera stops working every 2 day, but restart helps... i have cm7 for a week and i'm pleased with it...
just flash rom, leave it for 3-4 days just for testing, and flash new one ^^ that's how i'm doing
I just got the phone, so had a hard time choosing between the "bugs" in each rom.
So did a read on each rom.
Was between oxygen and cm7, but on oxygen hey have reported pin problems lately.
Ended up flashing cm7+franco.Kernel+gapps-gb-20110828-signed. Then used 99francoRam and replaced libril.so and libsensorservice.so.
What should be "normal" battery time on the phone? Overnight (6h51min) battery went from 93% tp 70%, but cpuspy shows 6h12m deep slep.
One reason to try cm7 was that mount internal card problem was not mentioned in frontpage, but HwUserdata is not in \mnt\sdcard so not seen by applications.
Would be nice if link2sd wa sable to use it.
Seems to take longer to set up phone after changing rom than reinstalling windows..

True.
What is the definition of "true information" and "all roms are bug free and totally stable"?
(from OP)
Reading some posts in the threads for those roms/kernels makes me wonder...

Slim ICS is the Best
well I did not put CM9 cuz as far as I know, CM9 rom includes a lot of bugs doesn't it?
and Ive tried a lot of roms from here too
and if something is wrong- ill fix it
Some are running CM9 without "many" bugs. some say it's even stable enough to show to your friends.
On that bombshell everyone runs whatever they see fit, and just "cruising" through the DEV section one should make a pretty good idea what is being in the top used ROMs.
There is no this is better than this, for 80% of ppl owning a SGS1 probably what was pre-installed on their phone was better than it was for the rest of us "kids" playing with fire. From experience I tell you that what works for you is the best ROM - heck there are still strong supporters of FROYO (if you know what I mean ).
Im going to flash a friends GT540 phone but he wants a stable ROM, i know the fastest one would be SDSL but there are still some bugs in it, what ROM should i use? Haven't tried tejas 2.3 ROM, is it stable? Or what other rom should i try? Thanks! :3

The most stable rom with good battery life ( excluding 2.1 roms ) is CM 7.2 by tejas build three.

Utopia 1.0 is good daily rom based on android 2.2 with excellent battery life and stability but it's not good for gaming. Application compatibility is lower than SDSL which is based on android 2.3 and SDSL supports theme choser themes which makes it more customizable. So basically SDSL is better for gaming and for people who needs more customization or want to use certain applications that requires android 2.3. Utopia 1.0 is better if you're looking for stable rom for daily use.
The rom I used for the longest period was PCFighter's V5 with supercharger and and loopy smoothness script. It was the better I've ever tried, stable and fast. Now I'm on ICS, and while I find it faster than GB, I think still isn't enough stable for everyday use if your friend simply wants a phone that work.
EleganceSwift 5.0 , very stable and comfortable rom. Without any tweaks is very fast , and very long battery life (in my phone 3-4 days without wifi )
I'm on a 2.3.6 jw4 ROM and have been for about the last 6 months. I need a change so I want to know what are the latest roms which are stable, good performance wise and have a decent battery life. Thanks

Stable wise - I was using Team Nyx ICS RC5 and it was quite a good ICS rom. I am now trying TAJB V7.1, which is pretty good but has some annoying bugs still it seems, so my recommendation is to upgrade to ICS if you want the stability. I think the JB roms are better on battery though compared to ICS.

If you want a stable ROM, you might want to try CM9 (ICS):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592131
If you want the latest JB, you might want to try CM10 Alpha:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778526
There are specific installation guides in both threads.
You can try TiramiSlim v2.0. Probably one of the best ICS ROMs.

try ICS by arco, ivendor etc etc n get engulfed in the awsummness
Go with a stock ROM for your requirements. JW8 is very fluid.

Try a solid ICS ROM like Slim ICS 4.2. I never had less problems and I tried a lot.
Cant really recommend cm roms..
Try cm9 with devil3 kernel. Very stable and fast. And there is a offical stable version available now! The devil-kernel increases battery live and performance.

Generally on GB Roms everything should run, because it was released official.
On the other hand ICS runs faster and I have no problems so far.
Slim ICS
Hey man definitley reccomend had absolutley no issues with it literally never encounted a problem
I think CM9 Blueberry is pretty good for daily use. :good:
remics with sgs3 launcher
