So I managed to destroy my R800X over the weekend , shattered the LCD and cracked the housing in a few places. Instead of buy all the new housing pieces Im looking into a R800A thats white.
I believe all the hardware was the same besides the mother/logic board and I should be able to swap out the mother board and be good to go. Im not 100% sure , the seller is willing to except a return but before I go through the hassle of finding out it does not work..
Does anyone know if this is just a bad idea? Or should it work like im hoping?
Thanks !
I would think that would break GSM functionality, but I'm not the techiest person ever.

Look up some tear-down pictures and compare them. If the main board is rearranged differently you need to make sure all the antennas and cables will connect properly.

Where did you find these or where did/can you buy the motherboard?

You actually can't buy the motherboard anywhere (searched with no success plenty of times) You can buy just about everthing else from Gtek or EtradeSupply , but if you want a mother board eBay for a complete device is the only way.

Purely caus i wanted to replace some aesthetic parts ready to sell the phone, in all fairness its a bargain
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEX1-Xperia-x...66:2|39:1|72:1683|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50
lol nice but my parts are oke atm
hey,
my phone was bricked (hardware // USB) so i gave it to 3 and got it back after 1 1/2 week.(yesterday)
First i noticed that i've got a new IMEI (0123....) instead of (0359.... or something similar) that means i got a new motherboard/mainboard.
then i noticed that it run smoother then before and there are less laggs/bugs (SAME FW)
today i noticed that the speaker is VERY loud instead of the low volume before.
is that possible that those things got changed through the new mainboard/motherboard?
thx 4 answers
I smell a troll..
0123 is a dev phone as far as i know and you wont have been given one by three

Ahh now my IMEI is
012379
I don't want to butt in, and I'm a newbie here, but I do want to mention that I also sent in an X10i for service and it was replaced with a new one whose IMEI starts with 01237900.
I'm in the US, my X10i was bought from expansys, and its original IMEI started with 35941903. I sent it to SE service in the US in September because it kept rebooting, and after a long wait in late October I got back a replacement with a different IMEI that, as I mentioned, starts with 01237900.
Maybe they give those phones as replacements then.

no, i can give you some pics and the full IMEI
Is it really faster and louder?
so if this is true, maybe the incall volume really is a hardware issue and not software.
I did notice a small difference in volume after the 2.1 update though, very strange.

Doesnt seem to be a hardware issue, as if you do a skype test call it's very loud (allbeit a tad crackly).
Hmmm...I wondered why my IMEI looked weird when I got my replacement. Looks like I have a dev phone too. COOL!
I got my x10 yesterday after 21 days and the PCB has been changed.. IMEI starts with 01237 also the PCB looks different than the old one

Ok, so if we do have dev phones, whats the diff between retail and dev phones?
Proto types or as some of you are calling them "dev" actually begin with 00. Commercial products begin with 35 and now 01 is the new naming of all new SE's tranceivers rolling out.
No hardware changes on new imei, although you might have received a sw update

I'm guessing we'd have more control over system files and doing dev work on it, but that doesn't mean squat if you don't have the official hardware to connect to the phone and dev software on the phone.
edit: Or maybe not^^ lolz.
So it is worth for me to purposely brick my device to get a better board =D ?
PS: Still on Warranty.

Well, it has a dead spot in its touchscreen and I'll be sending it to SE already, so I thought that instead of having only its screen replaced to try my luck and get a faster phone!

Seriously just bummed myself out pretty hard with this one. #1 reason for getting an S4 was the potential of the 13 megapixel camera. The one I just broke!
S4 in my pocket, leaned against something just right I guess, and BOOM! Not really a boom more of a sad sad whimper when I first saw my cracked lens.
I've searched this already, and there is hardly even a mention of this happening on google.
Hoping that someone has good news for me, or hopefully some helpful suggestions!
Ghost Glass on the front, Machined aluminium bumper, and not a thing to protect that stupid little piece of glass (why glass?) over the camera.:crying:

Thanks for the info, ordering now, and hopefully it will be here when I get off the river next week.
If anybody on XDA is in Colorado and wants to go get wet/weird in a raft, kayak, SUP, mountian bike, or whatever... Hit me up, nerd friends are my friends. My family owns the 1st Outfitter in Colorado (since 1969) and we are really good at what we do. Not selling, just sayin.

I finally received my camera from China... Quite an interesting trip it must have been for this little thing. About to replace the broken one, wish me luck.
the case is sweet.. I really like that it protects the outside of the phone as that is usually the part to hit the ground first on a drop. I also really like the Ghost glass that I've put on the screen. It feels just like the naked screen and doesn't inhibit the feel of the phone at all. The only thing that seems to not be protected by this setup is the camera... However at $28 a pop, I could think of worse things to happen. I'll be sure to do a quick write up when I'm finished in a few minutes.
Damn this phone is easy to fix. Took me five minutes total to fix.

There have been several people on here report that LG will replace the screen for $105. That is cheaper than you can buy one if it is true.
im just wondering can you buy just the digitizer its self? also since the phone is so new i have not found any tutorials that show how to replace it.
I saw on eBay screen with digitizer. Around 120$. I didn't see any digitizers separate. Replacing only digitizer on such LCD panel is pretty risky.

i should contact LG and see how much it would cost to get it replaced LOL. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS GET A CASE AS SOON AS YOU BUY THIS PHONE!!!! i really like the phone but i have to say it very very fragile..
Can't say where it's from but it's from AT&T directly. Obviously a prototype or test model and it says not for sale on the package. Obviously a Samsung phone, I was scared to play with it much but seems a glass back and front with metal on the sides. I apologize if this is being posted in the wrong section.
