[Q] GT6800 battery issues after rooted - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

hi guys, just got my tab 7.7 rooted
however, the market became unstable, kicks me out sometimes.
And the battery drains more than before that it takes less than 3% overnight,
under same setting drained 10% after rooted
Are these normal after rooted effects?

i don't think so root is causing this battery trouble maybe some apps are running in the background which most probably cause of draining

True. One of the major reason for root is to freeze those bloatware which would hopefully save memory and battery.
So you would like to check background tasks running with apps like Task Killer.

thanks for all the help first
tried to freeze some background apps and see how things go tonight
not sure this only happens with my tab or not
that when i get into the battery usage, i never see how much battery an app use
what i see is Android OS, stand by, and battery stand by only
and the % never changes, is the battery bricked?

Android OS Killing my battery?

My phone has been off the charger for roughly 3 hours and my batter is already down to 66% .. I spent about 10 minutes in the market and that's about it.
Battery status looks like this-
Android OS 70%
Display 10%
Android System 5%
Cell Standby 4%
Phone Idle 3%
Market 2 %
Any ideas on what is going on with my android OS?
*Running completely stock*
Rooted phones have a few extra options like cpu settings unvolted kernel. Stock phones-try to lower you brightness, shorten screen time out, turn off gps and bluetooth. There is a app called juicedefinder that seems to help.
check what services are running maybe?
settings>applications>running services

You can click on Android OS and get a more detailed break down of what is using up the most juice in that subset... I am betting you downloaded an app at some point that is corrupt and running non-stop draining your battery.

I clicked on it from the battery status but it only lists CPU Total, Data Sent, and Data Received. Doesn't break out what programs are doing it.
Under the running services is there a way to see the programs power usage or perhaps an app that will do this?..
On a side note my battery is now down to 30% with it's only uses since it was at 66% was taking it out of standby every once in a while to see the battery usage. Android OS is now up to 73% of the usage..
You either have a high refresh rate for data on a running service, or you downloaded a program with crappy code that doesn't kill itself when not in use.
List your installed programs.

Odd... I am on a Desire ROM, but when I open up my system battery usage, AndroidOS isn't even showing, it has a long list of apps, and appears to be in order of battery usage. I could swear AndroidOS does the same.
Download Spare Parts from the market, then click on Usage Statistics to see which apps have been running the most, etc.
I am using Task Manager to autokill apps but I feel this tool is itself eating battery no??
How do you like this ??? ...(but: no WiFi/3G used !!)
Check out the battery & hours!

Yes.
Task manager are running service(battery eaters) that monitors and closes apps in saved states(not battery eaters) and other running services. It's counter intuitive to run autokill applications because it itself, is wasting battery killing stuff that doesn't need to be killed.
Task managers that autokill are good for applications that have ****ty code and don't close themselves, or for programs that hang up.
Nothing More
If you're autokill killing services alll day long, why are you even running the services? Just run then as needed.
my display is like 65/70% of the battery use
So you are using Cyanogen ROM
Try Emo or Desire Roms it should fix display battery problems

I've tried more taskkiller programs (ATM, Taskiller, etc) and came to the conclusion, that the ONLY auto task killer which actually SAVES battery (compared to setup w/o task killer program) is Task Panel. Don't ask me why/ how, but with TaskPanel my N1 is fast en lean, battery lasts about 130% of native (w/o/ TaskPanel).
Of course, question is whether task killer necessary, but as I use lots of widgets, programs, in my experience task killing helps to keep my N1 fast..

imm using modaco custom R13 rom
http://android.modaco.com/content/g...custom-rom-for-nexus-one-with-online-kitchen/
this one
this morning at 100% it was 8am
at 2PM im at 52% , its been 6hours with 3G on, light at 25%, everything else off.
with 30min music, 10min calling, some sms and a 50min TV show....
my iphone held quite a bit better
So after some systematic disabling of apps it seems the culprit was the Touch Input that came with the HTC_IME .. After disabling that I am back up to regular battery life and android OS is only using 2% of my battery again.
Sometimes the Android OS is stuck at 70% and the battery is drained really quickly. A reboot fix it. Next time I have to check what exactly is causing that Android OS is at 70% battery usage.

just to be sure, you're using nexus one? if so, can you elaborate more on what app or service you're talking about. thanks
that's weird because i am using the HTC IME keyboard and i have touch input running too, but my display takes up 90% of my battery all the time. must have been some weird glitch.

Yes this is a Nexus One running stock ROM.
It may have just been a fluke with the version I downloaded from this forum. I am going to install the new version as soon as I get around to it. Not sure how it did it but as soon as I disabled it my battery usage went back to normal.
I was having this same issue on a MyTouch 3G running a 1.6 Rom (TheOfficial), and it appears it's a common problem on the Droid as well from some research. I was using HTC_IME. I just switched back to the default android keyboard and will see if it fixes my battery drain issue.
(My thread in the mytouch devel forum got locked for some reason, even though I consider this a legitimate concern for ROM development, since it's a rather major and hard-to-find defect.)
UPDATE: the "Android OS" task has stopped being a problem after I switch from HTC_IME, but "Cell Standby" is now taking up 50% of the battery, so the battery still drains, but slightly 30% slower.

[Q] how to find the reason for sudden battery drain?

so, i am having a lot of fun with my HD2. And since a few months i have ICS running and in the mean time i have 81 apps installed.
What is so strange is that all of a sudden the last weeks i noticed that the battery drain without using the phone at all! I am used when leaving the phone at the side of the bed at night, the battery drain in the morning would be 10-20
%. ok by me. But now in the night without using the phone the battery drain becomes 40-50%!
how do i find out what is changed on the phone, or what is happening for this drain to occur?
i can go to settings and the tab energy gives me an overview of the things that used the energy. Even in the night it is the screen? how can this be?
there's an app that can show you your current drain but i can't seem to find it
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=current+battery+&c=apps
or your battery is dying out? how old is the battery & is it an original one?

@mengfei - CurrentWidget
@OP if you're using SD Android see this thread, it should solve it for you. I had the same issue. If on NAND, you need to check what you've changed to get such high drain. It should really only be around 4mA with data on, 2mA in ariplane mode and 5mA with wifi on. Turn off all unused connections, kill background apps, increase sync intervals etc.

Normal battery drain over night?

Hi guys,
I have SM-N900 Note 3 and was worried about the battery life.
I factory reset it and only signed in with my Gmail account.
I left it for 7 hours at night, and the battery has drained from 100% to 93%.
Is it normal? I always thought Note has much better battery life and without nothing running in the background it should drain like 1%-2% over night.
what do you think?
(running stock Samsung firmware, 4.4.2. no SD card)
Thanks
If all working well my Note 3 would drain about 2 % overnight, (thats on wifi with BT, GPS on, no power save, no blocking of any type), anything above 5% I usually start looking for the cause. But to be honest with original 4.3 I rarely had to look, since I updated to 4.42 it's all over the place from as high as 20% to as low as 2 % and I can't pinpoint the cause, which drives me insane. ATM it's running about 4-5%, which I'm not too happy about and if it get's any worse I will start deleting everything until I get this phone under control. I have couple chinese tablets, where inside the settings there is a menu where you can stop programs from start at the boot up time, I search everywhere and I can't find anything like that on the Note, but since I'm rooted I can freeze or delete stuff, maybe not the best solution but it works.

woah, so many crossed data about your %.
and yeah - since you're rooted, you can install Xposed and install BootManager module, so you can see which apps are running from the boot.

greenfiy is the best software for us
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155737
2% overnight - 7 hours - for me. Data on, no sync at all, weather widget update every 30 minutes, KK, Faux kernel.
0% - If I turn on Powersave when Screen Off in Performance Profile(Xposed Module). It is amazing with of course a slight delay when turning it on. [Around 8hrs]
1-2% - Depending if my network is stable. Wifi-on. Zooper Widget not greenified. [Around 8hrs]

[Q] Battery issue after reroot

I had some issues after rooting and installing liquid smooth so I unrooted and installed stock firmware. 4.4.2 vodafone uk.
I've rooted again (cf) and deleted a fair amount of bloatware.
My issue is just battery related.
Normal usage just seems to hammer my battery. (About 10% gone in 20 mins phone and internet usage)
There are no background apps that I can find.
Screen is using most battery (40% which is expected) followed by OS etc.
I can charge my phone during day (I spend a lot of time in car) but that's not quite the point. I shouldn't have to!
Anyone got an idea of what might be causing drain???
I've ordered a new battery to see if it makes a difference. Could the issues I've had recently somehow shorted my battery a bit?
NB. It doesn't seem to drain much when locked. Only when in use.
Any trouble shooting appreciated!!

Maybe it's the battery.. how old is your phone? Or if it something else, you can download many apps which creating battery stats, like this one here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats
You can also download anotherone. But with this kind of programs you can look what drains your battery so fast.
I've got betterbattery and gsam.
Not sure how to use them though.
Bbs:
under process system_server says 63%.
Gsam says 45% (which seems ironic)
Under network vending google ply store says 96%
Gsam:
58.9% is consumed by app usage (389 by screen)
Biggest app sucker is android system @20%.
These stats help or do I need to give more info/screenshots??

Battery Drain on galaxy s8

I have now had my galaxy s8 for over a year and i have noticed my battery life hasnt always been that great.
I have noticed that over a total day i only get 2-3 hours screen on time.
For an example when i go with the bus home for 25 min my battery often drains over 10% without even using the screen for 25 minutes.
Once i installed another rom called lightrom or something over the renovate ice rom and it got much better the first day but second day when i got more apps on it begun to be bad again.
I then went back to renovate ice rom and i was back to bad battery life again when i installed all my apps.
BUT in this case i have an app called greenify and i greenify all my apps in the background but i still have a massive standby drain
I have never found out what has caused my problem but for sure it cant last a whole day
I have this thought that it can be weak signal but i have disabled the option "Keep mobile data turned on" and followed multiple tutorials of how to make battery life better
AOD off, Location off, Wifi off, bluetooth on ( for gear s3), nfc off,
So i only use bluetooth and mobile data.
I apreciate all help

Since the problem starts when you install your apps, I would start with checking which apps are the culprit. Apps like snapchat and Facebook are notoriously known for unreasonable high battery drain in standby.

Personally I have auto sync off, no battery saver, amplify, and display set to WQHD but I also use dark themes via substratum and my average battery life is roughly about 8 hours SOT

I have deleted Facebook a couple of weeks ago and that made no huge difference. Though I think snapchat may be the one. But I often have it hibernated
