Help me decide. Been to Imilka's CM9 but i haven't tried ICS Stunner. Which one is better and why?
and by the way, do i always need to flash ChainFire's ICS Repack when switching custom ROM or i can just flash another ROM into the current one?
Thanks

From my experimentation, CM9, Stunner and Milka's other rom are all very good. I like Stunner strictly because there are a few more settings I like that come with Euphoria.
I do not like the speed of the scrolling in Trebuchet. Running Apex on CM9 makes it more tolerable for me. Once CM9 gets officially supported on the Note, it will be great to watch it evolve through the nightly updates. I enjoyed trying the various mile stones of CM7 on my EVO.
True dat... Stunner gives a bit more bang. The settings are crucial. Sound is superb on Stunner too. Don't know what he did with it...
I love the Stunner rom, and the developer listens to us
real stable, fast rom. Stunning Stunner
Well, finally done my assignment. And this is what I have found out:
Imilka's ICS CM9 (v02) scores significantly higher on both Antutu and Quadrant benchmarks
ICS Stunner on the other hand pre loaded gapps and tons of MOD/tweaks settings
The only question is that when switching to another costume ROM, say Imilka's to Stunner, do I have to flash ChairFire's ICS Repack or flash one over another?
Thanks
BTW, posting on ICS Stunner
It's in the ROMs installation instructions usually. You just have to full wipe and then install for another ICS ROM.
Tried both a number of times and it's a no brainer at this point:stunner....hands down.

Done strict AOSP for years on and off and truth is: they are just boring..
I am using ics stunner from their 1st release. I hvnt tried cm9 but ics stunner is best for me. Super stable, fast. . .
No lags, no fc . . .
Just love it. And yup developer listen us. .
N developer is pretty fast. He normaly takes 1 to 3 days to make his new release .

ICS Stunner
I think the Stunner 5.0 rocks. The dev is responsive and life's not been much better
Everything is great, but I feel the voice call volume is slightly on the lower side. Or maybe its just me.
I don't think this is even a comparison. Stunner is head and shoulders above all these ROMs.

Hi there....
I´m currently using ICS Stunner v.5 coming from the repack and then 4.5 and then 5.0 i think is far better and superior to Imilkas
everything works as promissed and does a pretty nifty job on all aspects and the customization of this rom is simply lovely,...... although i dont know if its because im a noob and i dont know how to enable them or make them work so this is where i need a little bit of help!!!!!!
1st - I dont know how to enable the MTP connection of the previous GB rom i need this since my security policies on my work computer are being override by this type of connection.
2nd - I dont know how to make the Wifi direct option work correctly it does appear to me on the menu but doesnt bring anything new or work or is being recognized by any other phone whith this capability.
3rd - The Spen is not working (not the pen but the built in features that it previously had.) i know that this is not supported by the rom but maybe the Gurus or android gods in this forum might be able to help me with any solution.
4th - this is the most important thing that i have noticed.... the USB transfer rate is awfully slow from what it used to be with or without the USB debbuging option the most that i can get with big medium or small file sizes is nothing more than 2.5 Mbps if lucky and previously i was achieving arround 8 - 10 Mbps
if you have a solution or Idea or want to help me please share your thoughts or send me a PM
thanks a lot!!!!!!
Had been using imilka CM9 v2 for a few days
Haven't got a chance to use Stunner yet, but I'm quite happy with what I get from CM9 v2. Fast, stable enough, reasonable battery (since I recharge everyday).
However, there are two problems I experienced:
1. The volume control is not good enough. When volume level 0 is completely silent/vibration only; volume level 1 is too loud for me. Unfortunately the alarm (also ringtone) are so loud it woke up my baby sleeping...
2. Had two "death while charging" instances so far. I was charging the phone but later realized it's dead sleeping. So far the SOD only happens in charging.
stunner is OK when it comes to customization but i found it lagging when opening apps. makes me want to get back to imilka's. if only i can find a circlemod battery, more power button options such reboot to recovery/download, screen capture, torch, etc. with these mods i'll be fine with Imilka's CM9.
anybody can help me with that?
I normally don't like custom roms. But stunner 5beta is the best I've used.

CM9 has fully functional GPS, while it can generally only find 3 or 4 satellites in Stunner. ICS Reloaded is also really nice on CM9, lots of customization of the notification area if you like your Note in phone mode. But Stunner offers more customization in general and for tablet mode I prefer Stunner.

For the Atrix, which ROMS have you enjoyed using most?
I didn't see a thread (read:didn't ctrl-f "favorite ROM), and since there have been a good three or four updates to the big ROMS here, I wanted to know what everybody is trying out, what they feel the pros and cons are for each ROMS, what everybody's personal preference is, general battery life, etc.
I've tweaked around with CM7, DarkSide, and am currently running Neutrino ROM V2.0 EE. I'm addicted to trying out different ROMS on this phone.

wetdream so far has been the best battery life. Neutrino seems to be great performance however after spending several months OC'ed and going back to stock kernel, I can safely say most of the Android world doesn't currently benefit in any noticeable way from anything faster than 1.0GHz. Simply faster benchmarks is all.
Have tried neutrino and redpill.. I like neutrino.. although I don't know why

If you try this you will see. I have tried them all, and this one is by far and away the best right now.
I also am interested in this question. If you can briefly say why you prefer a specific ROM that info would be greatly appreciated
I've used cm7-ics-mod2 for quite a while, but switched yesterday to neutrino 2.0, loving it so far. MIUI is pretty good but the sound bug keeps me from making it my everyday ROM.
CM9
I am using the CM9 ICS Rom. It is still in alpha, because it has some bugs and the camera is not functional. Since I rarely use my camera I have been using it for a week and love it.
Currently using Neutrino 1.4sEE and getting about 2days of battery life with around 3.5hrs of screen. Overall, it's pretty clean and really smooth especially with adwex
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
In my personal opinion, Neutrino 1.4 is by far the smoothest as well as the best ROM for battery life and performance that I have ever used.
Neutrino 2.0 is a bit buggy right now but once all the bugs are gone it will go face to face with CM9 (depending on your taste) . It is a very high calibre ROM and I hope that a CM9 version will also be available.

I've been around
I started with cm7 weekly #1-4 and #4 was great. It was my daily.
Then i tried Aura with is the stock rom with huge modifications (if you want webtop). This was okay for me, i'm just not a fan of it.
Right now, i've been using the alpha for MiUi. It is fantastic when it comes to battery life! Amazing! I'm actually shocked at how reliable this alpha rom is. I'm stuck here.
I hear nothing but great things for neutrino rom. I'll try it soon enough.
I had tried CM9 build #3 or something, and it was a bit buggy for me.
Used Aura for a month, then switched to cm7, went to neutrino(based on cm7), back to cm7. Now I am back to neutrino (about month). Neutrino is the best!!!!. No plans to leave it. Hope it will be cm9.

Neutrino is pretty bee's knees, but I have been having intermittent wifi issues (or maybe it is my router). Additionally I have had some strange GPS issues, and it has gotten to the point where I just fix permissions and reflash the GPS Mod he has posted there. I'm not sure if it is one of his tweaks specifically or just chance, but I tested the 4G with his ROM and my download speeds doubled. ICS was neat but since I use my phone for GPS I got tired of maps blanking out. And the lack of hardware acceleration is a total bummer at the moment. Darkside is super cool, but the theme bugs me a little. I'm not clear what the purpose is for Wet Dream so what are the major differences between it and Darkside?

Darkside has webdock, mirroring, and hdmi support. You won't brick your phone if you follow the forum post guides directions to the letter. Make sure you root your phone first, then unlock the bootloader, then flash a recovery on it. Most people seem to prefer clockwork recovery (assume this when you see CWM). Darkside likes RomRacer, which I understand is a special CWM variant with different features, most importantly EXT4 file system support. I think. I may have RomRacer mixed up with something else, I haven't flashed a recovery since Darkside.

Note is 3 months old.
First month (November to Christmas eve) some crucial development like rooting and initial development of ROMs happens. Chainfire, SheepROM, FM kernel and new RocketROM are what I read about while I wait for my online purchased Note to arrive in the mail.
Second month, December is when things kick off. Huge development kicks off. Very unstable. Lots of experimentation, problems, fixes. Rocket ROM goes from V5 through a new version every three or two days. Newbies can't keep up with learning AND testing before new versions are out. Too much new stuff. A good problem to have like too much money
Third month, Christmas through January. ROMs have grown and matured. Eyebee burns himself out from frantic Rocket ROM dev up to V20 and other ROMs have cross polinated features. New big name developers have joined us like CheckROM team, JKay, Hardcore, Tegrak, etc. And the Kernel continues being advanced by Angelom now to 3.5b
We are in a new phase. Probably last month before ICS comes out. Final quarter. Now is the time we can have it all in one ROM. Fast, cool, long battery, call recording, bluetooth headset and music, fast waking, dual core, fast GPU, 6 columns, fast scrolling, RTL, menu toggles...
So what is the best ROM now?
Which ROMs are great and what are their features? What things do they lack which could make them number 1 ROM once added?
I'm running Cassies Xtralite V6. Its kept overheat under control. And as we speak I'm downloading Cassies V7 and Chracks V10. Abyss 3.5b is already waiting to be tested when those are done. I hope no one calls me and interupts me from using my phone ;-)
So many choices. But working together we save a lot of time :-D
ICS will be way cool. But by the time it gets here we will already have awesome phones with customised GingerBread. Maybe I'll wait for month 2 of ICS before I get back onto ROM merry go round.
Rocket ICS V32?
My HD2 would have been useless without a custom Rom,as for the GNote I am still a bit skeptical as I haven't had big issues except some lag in opening certain apps .Mind you I haven't even had it rooted yet.
However it was nice of you to keep us updated with the latest Rom developments, and hope you keep on doing so from time to time in case some of us decide to jump.
Jack
Nothings better then stock Rom and manual tweaks. No tacky themes here

Just switched from the SGS II to the Note last night. I like it, the screen is nice with the Hi Res, but kinda also not liking the Pentile thing. Never the less, I miss my SGS II because of the sentimental reasons. THE NOTE is a beast.
The first thing I did was pop on CheckROM. On my SGS II, it was very stable.
I saw some lag with the stock rom, after a clean up and CheckROM install, the lag was gone.
I look forward to seeing some great development for this device.

How does the Note with CheckROM compare to the GS2 with CheckROM?
Any room for improvement that another ROM could be better, or is it just a personal preference on looks?
Well, I was not a fan of Custom roms, I usually used to root and do the manual tweaks. But CheckROM / Custom Roms do that among other things like Deodex. This also optimizes the ROM for better performance and better battery.
I have not used any other ROM on the Note since I just got it yesterday. Also Kernels allow functionalities to extend support to BLN, Overclock / undervolt.
I think CheckROM on the SGS II was fantastic, and the CheckROM on the Note is also good, but the amount of support for the SGS II will obviously be larger than the Note.
I think you should try out a few large fan following roms to see which one suits you. For me, I like the option of Standby battery life, and CheckROM did the trick on the SGS II. We will wait and see how it works on the Note.
Give it a try.

As cyanogenmod 9 is still in its early stages (and I come from the nexus one, having used a sh*tload of roms) I really would like some advice on which Note rom to try. As far as this thread goes, I'm starting to believe the default rom is still the best... and if there are already some other roms worthwhile please let us know with a few lines of extra comment. Would be appreciated a lot!
Thx
Well, if you go to the Android Development section for the Galaxy Note, you will see that there are a few roms available.
Darky Rom
CheckROM
CM9 Experimental
and a few others.
Most of them are based upon Samsung's ROM with fixes / tweaks. Currently, thats the only way to mod and for the most part is stable.
I thought I would pitch in with my story on the Galaxy Note. Paid about $800 for a white unlocked Galaxy Note, shipped, on Amazon US. I was very impressed with the build quality, except for a sneakily creaky back panel. Fixed it with a little sticky note taped to the back cover. No micro-patterns on the back cover though, just plain old gloss. It was meant for Germany and came with the new KL7 kernel. I've had it for about 36 hours now. I tried atleast 3 different kernels, about 5 or so stock ROMs, and another 4 or so custom ROMs. I ran a whole lot of AnTuTu and found out that RocketROM + Abyss 3.5b had the best score of about 6900. All the stock ROMs i tried gave me about 5300 with CF-Root kernel. With Abyss stock ROMs gave me 5800. Not bad at all. Even after trying out all possible combinations, I was VERY disappointed. Even with all the cutting edge hardware, the overall experience was mediocre at best. Laggy in all the wrong places, including XDA wiki. So.. I was mad. I was about to give up on the Note for being a complete hype. But then I remembered how well cyanogenmod runs (still) on my HTC Magic and HTC HD2. So I downloaded the CM9 ICS alpha. It's about one fifth the size of any stock ROM. But boy oh boy. THIS is what the NOTE was made for. It's so snappy that sometimes I fall behind on it. lol. And it looks absolutely brilliant. Total eye candy. The HD Super AMOLED feels like it's gonna slap you in the face. The bluetooth and camera are not functional, but this is just too good to miss. USB mass storage is also gone. But you can always boot into clockworkmod and get on mass storage there. It does not, however, provide access to the microsd card. But if you absolutely have to, I have managed to get QtADB to work for file transfer. QtADB also lets you work with the microsd. Other than that the whole ICS experience is quite amazing. I ran GTA 3 on the ICS and it didn't perform as well as it did on Rocket + Abyss. But it's worth mentioning that 'Shadowgun', which is supposed to be optimized for Mali-400, ran very well. So, yeah, you guys GOT to give CM9 ICS a try. I am hopping ship right now because I won't have to worry about migrating to ICS after I have spent weeks on Gingerbread. I might as well get ICS now and use TitaniumBackup But I don't think there is ANY gingerbread ROM right now that can hold a candle to this supposed 'ALPHA' release. The one problem that has been bothering me though is that the music skips whenever I use the volume buttons. Happens only with earphones. But I can live with it
Edit - I just ran AnTuTu on it. Got a respectable 5700.
BTW, overclocking on the Abyss is very unstable. Always kept crashing, even with relatively small increments in clock speed.
---------- Post added at 02:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:13 PM ----------
Also... if anyone runs into graphical glitches in Music, there is an easy fix for it. Go to Settings-->Developer options-->'Force GPU rendering' and enable it.

I have to second this. CM9, even in its current form, is leaps and bounds ahead of any of the GB ROM's. It really makes the Note feel like a new phone.
Missing S-Pen functionality and camera made me return to gingerbread, and I'm now running cassie's v6, which is great. I miss ICS on a daily basis though, and can't wait till it becomes my daily ROM.

I also came from the Nexus One so I know what you mean. Here the ROMs don't seem to fully replace the system the way it does on the N1. So if you get 5 phones, wipe them and install for example Rocket ROM on all of them, they could be different. You may have differences that result in overheat problems. Somehow a wipe is not a wipe.
I will be trying out Darky3.1, Alpha Never Dies, Chrack4.1, Cassies V7, CheckROM V5 and maybe Rocket V20
What I will be looking for firstly that each candidate does not cook my phone, second phone recording works, third smoothness and speed, and fourth pretty pictures.
On Nexus One it is easy. But strangely on the Note wierd battery drain and overheat problems can appear from a ROM and not be fixed by simply replacing it.
Voodoo.

After several weeks using a rom the note gets pretty laggy after standby sessions...evertime I unlock my note I have to wait a few seconds, until an app starts. This happened to me with stock & several RocketRoms & Kernels and I found many people sharing these experiences.

I've been using Chainfire's repack for a couple days and it's sped everything up immensely. There's still the dead minor stutter with scrolling in some apps, but all in all it's definitely a huge change.
I'll probably flash Rocket's 1.5 now that the SMemo is working and has the stock ICS messaging app, but is devoid of most of the bloat.
Gonna see if HW acceleration still brings everything up to snuff with a deodex'd rom, too.
Thanks DarkShot666! You´ve mentioned the stock messaging app, one more question in this context: I haven´t read anything about the calendar...are we able to use the stock cal as well or am I still bound to the S-Planner (which I kind of dislike in comparison to the beautiful ICS one )? I didn´t give the memo integration in the calendar one single shot, don´t need it (yet)...
I've been using ICS since the chinese leak came out. First I used that and then, when Team Rocket ROM came out, I switched to that and have been using it since.
I also have used ICS CM9 alpha by maui for about a week as a daily driver.
All in all, there is a serious speed boost and everything looks nicer (IMO), yet there are also still bugs. The most notable for me is lack of "use wireless networks" setting for GPS location. At the moment the only GPS app I use is Foursquare (since my car is in service now, so no navigation for a while), and I have troubles locking on to GPS. It takes forever (meaning it takes minutes) and sometimes doesn't lock at all. This is in contrast to CM9 alpha I tried before, which would give me a quite good location in a few seconds.
The calendar is ICS stock, I think.. At least it looks like that.
What I don't really like is that there is no stock "contacts" and "dialer". It's a personal preference, of course, but I really like the ICS original apps, especially contacts and phone, which give you hi-res full-screen pic of the person calling. This one doesn't.
All in all, if I compare GB on Note to ICS on Note, ICS is definitely faster, smoother and generally way better. You have to suffer a few bugs and a few Force Closes here and there, at least for now..
If I compare the new leaked ROM and custom ROMs based on that with the CM9 build by maui, I must say that CM9 definitely would win if it didn't have the current major problems like camera not working and a bit more FCs than on leaked one. CM9 alpha seemed smoother and cleaner, it also had stock AOSP ICS apps and for the GPS issue - CM9 locked on almost instantly (2-10 sec, even indoors), way faster than any ROM on GB I tried, it also seemed to have a bit smoother animations and effects. One notable example would be when pinch-zoom-out is used in browser. If you watch a demo/review of proper ICS (for example, Galaxy Nexus) where you can see pinch-zooming in browser, when you zoom out, the previous full screen stays visible as a block, yet the new zoomed-out portion is not yet visible. When releasing fingers, the non-visible area fades smoothly to readable text. (hard to describe, so just watch a video if you don't understand what I mean). In CM9 Note does this, but in the new leak it doesn't fade - the area just suddenly appears.
To sum it up, I'm not going back to GB anymore, using Team Rocket ROM now but waiting eagerly for a new release of CM9 by maui.
try the leaked rom ,, its fine and working good and smoth
I've tried Chainfire repack and Midnote. I prefer Midnote - it solved a few things like apps update on every reboot, notification bar prompting for updates and the fingerprint changed to N7000 instead of I9220.
Midnote is the choice! Definitely!
Gona start flashing soon! But im gonna wait for a few weeks for a stable ics rom

midnote 2.0 running for two days. no issue at all.even some games are working that was not working on gb rom.
MidNote definitely. I tried RR 1.4, 1.5 & Midnote and Midnote was smoother by a mile. Stuff just works too. GPS, Bluetooth, Camera, Videorecorder, Market, Dialer, etc. I did make a bunch of mods, removing apps, adding others e.g. video player (instead of second gallery) Titanium backup also works awesomely.
BTW anyone thinking about coming from GB to ICS DO NOT USE CWM TO FLASH AN ICS ROM OR KERNEL. You must use Mobile Odin or PC Odin (careful of PC version it will raise your binary counter & give you triangle) or else you will not obtain complete root, and it will be a headache and a half to reflash backwards then forwards again.
If you haven't tried it yet here's a video I recorded yesterday showing how smooth Midnote is:

Thought I'd update.
I haven't tried MidNote so I can't compare but I've been running RR 1.5 and it's fantastic.
Buttery smooth and everything works as intended. Using ADW EX has never been more enjoyable. Used Titanium to remove a lot that I didn't need as well as restore everything and it works without a hitch. I've had solid performance on Wifi too. Bluetooth does seem a touch fickle but that too could be attributed to a low battery on my MBW-150.
The only issues I've had thus far would be that you can't set a wallpaper with forced HW acceleration on and the resolution is reduced when setting the lockscreen wallpaper for some odd reason. Nothing overly major though.
I might try MidNote if I'm really in the mood, but for now I'm pleased with how it's all set up.
I have been using the imilka's TOM and so far I haven't had any big problems. Of course there are some major and minor bugs to be fixed but the de is working really fast on this rom.

yup i would have to agree with him. this rom is by far the closest we can get to cm9 or stock ics. it does have minor bugs such as usb file transfer and video player, and few extras, but everything else works flawlessly. camera works, all other apps work, faceunlock, etc, very fast and smooth. he has even made a flashable zip that can transform the note into an actual tablet form. he had some bugs in version 1, but he fixed them in version 2 (and i must say, the developer is really fast). although there are fc bugs in tablet form, but i'm sure he's going to fix them in the next day or two.
i tried cm9 for couple of days, but the lack of camera, usb mount, and some others took me off it.
before imilka's rom, i was on romow v1 ics. it worked pretty well. but as its not really full clean aosp ics, i couldn't deal with it. although it is pretty much ics themed, except the dialer, messaging, and contacts. but it is smooth and stable nonetheless. faceunlock works, which is really cool.
all other roms (midnote, rocket, etc) i can't deal with. the themes are all kinda "in your face" and i hate that. not really sure about the smoothness and stability on those so can't really comment on that as i havent flashing them really. (maybe once or twice to see how it is, but quickly restored to original rom)
by the way, i hope the devs don't take offense. a little criticism never hurts, and opinions matter

BTW anyone thinking about coming from GB to ICS DO NOT USE CWM TO FLASH AN ICS ROM OR KERNEL. You must use Mobile Odin or PC Odin (careful of PC version it will raise your binary counter & give you triangle) or else you will not obtain complete root, and it will be a headache and a half to reflash backwards then forwards again.

on a side note, follow this guide if your coming from GB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509703

I used redpill recovery to install midnote - worked great, and I didn't have to mess about with odin.
The step by step instructions in the midnote thread were brilliant.
midnote 2.0 for me is smooth and fast for me, fix some of issue that repack has, weird that they are some minor force close at first few boots after flash, then they are gone later. although fixed at 1.2ghz, it definitely smoother than GB clocked at 1.6ghz... havent tried rocket rom yet, but midnote 2.0 is great for me
I'm looking for your opinion guys, which ICS ROM is the most complete and stable or simple which ICS ROM are you using...

I have been running the unoffical CM9 by jmztaylor since the first release. Has been the best for my phone at least and very good battery life. You should just try them out and go with the one that your phone has the best results with.
gummy worms is still a valid ics rom but you are gonna be lacking hardware accelleration (hwa) and camera/camcorder can work but also is being reported broken sooo yeah
the lastest of aokp is known for being full of reboots (but as a side note i have only had 1 reboot so far but has some graphical glitches with menu's but nothing to knock it down any so again beware it could be different on your phone) but b33 has been the strongest /most stable but is lacking the camera fix but there is a zip you can flash with it.
jamie has an ics rom with hwa but doesnt have the customization tweaks that you find in aokp but i have had ZERO reboots in my experinces there is a camera fix used in aokp will most likely work for you here to since they are based off the same (correct me if im wrong please)
decks i have little experience with the latest builds so i'll leave someone else to input on that
same iwth cm9 but its been comin to the party a bit later but i hear its stable and on its way to being a good daily rom for most and i think the camera works but no camcorder/panoramic(again correct me if im wrong please i havent run this particular one so im pulling that from memory of reading thread)
I installed the Unofficial CM9 and I was all good until its start freezing and rebooting

Swipers MIUI ICS is amazingly stable.
You can't beat it
I've been using Deck's builds as daily drivers for a while now not quite as many features as AOKP or CM9, but quite stable on my handset. YMMV of course.
With ANY of the ICS ROMs you're looking at feature incomplete alpha or beta level builds. So "stable" is a relative term.
Dark light version 3.5 has been the most stable on my evo, plus its all themed out in black and white.

KWIQ ICS is working for me
ben.nesheim mentioned jamie's rom, that is KWIQ ICS. I was running AOKP all through April and was liking the progress. I think after they added the HWA it got unstable for me on my phone so I ventured out and tried KWIQ. It just worked on my phone giving me everything I needed. I recently added the patch for the camera and now the only two things I am missing are front camera (would like to try Skype again) and 4g. I would be happy enough with this setup if this is all I ever got. I now have Chrome browser and all my apps I care about. I am one happy camper.
And Jamie has commented that he is making progress on an update to be coming out as soon as he feels it is stable.
AOKP here for a few days now. Everything works very well except Hulu and Netflix (haven't tried Youtube yet) and once in a while the camera app stops/freezes for a minute.
Everything else is butter.
In addition to the original question, do any of them have fully functioning camera (front and back) and camcorder?
I tried qwik ICS and it was stupid stable but didn't have working camera.
AoKP, run it on every device I have eexcept the photon cuz that POS is a pain to flash sh!t to so its stock rooted, but I have aokp on my Evo4g, kindle fire, Epic Touch 4g and my dads gNote

I've been using Lithium's MIUI rom and have also tried the Unofficial CM9. The MIUI rom has been stable for me and runs smoother then CM9.
Camera ICS in the Market will give you rear cam up to 8MP and video. None of them have FFC yet
aokp35 has been working great with the ics camera and will try camcorder in a bit
Hi everyone ! i was using AOKP EaglesBlood ICS 4.0.3 it feets my G2X pretty well, then I've installed newest version which is AOSP EaglesBlood 4.0.4 and there starts too many bugs with my phone like:

I've ran team D.I.R.Ts cm9 and it seemed pretty stable. Had no reboots at all. Switched back to digitalkarma because I like the sense look though.

The best ICS ROM I have used is Team D.I.R.T's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657892
Best ICS by far is jmztaylor's CM9 nightlies. He's now back up and running again, so we should see some quality stuff over the next few weeks.

Now that you have been reccomended every ICS rom for the evo. Lol.
My oppinion: Download teamdirt's cm9 and AOKP Milestone 5. (Milestone 5 can be found on the aokp website) Try out both roms, starting with AOKP.
Reason: I work using my phone for GPS and, on average, 15 calls and 25 texts a day. This means that if I flash a rom, it gets the full daily driver test.
That being said, AOKP was smooth, fast, battery efficient, and even easier to use And navigate. My only problem was random hot reboots.
Cm9 was somewhat choppy at times, but comparable to AOKP. NO REBOOTS!
Final verdict: Decks Reloaded. Lol. I couldn't decide so I went back to Gingerbread.
Reloaded from my Decked out evo using XDA
I am looking for a rom on this device to flash for a friend. Jb is hot on dev. However haven't seen any rom which could be a daily driver(with good battery backup).
My friend is not a power user and cannot flash roms daily which is y I am looking for a great lightweight from to be used as a daily driver.
Please suggest which roms according to you are most "stable" in your humble opinions.

Just about anything froyo would be the safest bet for battery/stability and everything working.
I'm currently using axura fish/ryder mod and everything works flawless.

+1 I'm with the same Froyo ROM. Everything is just fine.
The latest CM9 is worth a try.

Remics (ICS) is a really good ROM. They are currently working on a JB ROM that I'm sure will be great as well. I am running hellybean on both of my devices (daily). Except for GPS,( mine has never worked) it is great. The GPS works flawlessly on my captivate with this ROM. You might have better luck with it. Check hellybean out on dev thread and here is a link to remics ICS.
Here is a DL link for the ICS version: http://billionuploads.com/s5sfwymw536s

Honestly it doesn't matter which ROM you flash, if you read and follow the op, you'll be OK. If not, you could get in a jam.

Well having tried every OS version thats come out for vibe (2.1->4.1)...
-Eclair is just a downgrade from our froyo roms,
-Froyo works, batt life is good, theyre stable and the only issue i can find with it is the lack of later OS features, and the speed is somewhat mediocre (tho not slow),
-Gingerbread is FAST, and pretty stable (save for a random reboot once in a while).. my reason for leaving was the battery life; it sucked.
-honeycomb was just experimental lol.
-ICS was beast: stable, fast, feature-full and looooong batt life... then the encryption unsuccessful bug scared me off. If youre not aware of it, look it up cause its pretty serious.
-JB is what im on now and i can say its got everything but stability. It gives me random reboots somewhat often and bugs here and there. Sometimes programs will crash, FB crashes more often than not, and at one point my baseband/imei decided just to go away and i had to reflash during class with 20% battery just to get signal again.
Bottom-line, id stick to froyo if i wrre you, and for the record, im ddowngrading to froyo too when i have time

Also not sure if the 911 issues are completely fixed for ICS / GB. (Ive been away for a while)
Safest bet for stability, battery life, and awesome GPS would be a Froyo [2.2 or 2.2.1] ROM.
I successfully used Moped_Ryder's Ez_Ryder Kb5 v2 (this is an older one) for MONTHS, until some idiot (me) changed the lock screen to the one that we were clearly warned about in the first post... After that I tried the Bionix-V FishmanMod V4 - was also awesome. I see there's a Moped_Ryder/Fishman mod'd bi-winning out there now too - that was one of my all time favorites...if it were me flashing for a friend, I'd start by looking at this one...
Now...OP...you said you're doing this for a friend - if I was flashing something for a friend, I'd...probably...pick one of the above, and be done with it. That said...
I recently flashed ICZen (have to go to rootzwiki to get that one) - which was pretty friggin' nice - I have since found a couple other vibrant owners using ICZen as their daily driver...both had someone else flash it for them...and from what I understand, they haven't had a problem yet - but if they do, you know who will be fixing it for them. Read carefully before considering this though.
Then yesterday...I was bored, and decided to try the 9/4 version of Helly Bean...GPS isn't awesome, I can't tell on battery life because I'm playing with my phone 10x as much as usual, but everything else seriously kicks ass. The email app is finally functional enough so I don't have to install touchdown (which isn't a problem...just...would prefer to be able to use the built in apps - personal preference). I'm keeping this one for as long as I can - but I'm also ready to ODIN to stock and/or flash another ROM at the drop of a hat...I wouldn't do this for a someone else...yet...
I have to cast my vote for REM ICS 1.3.1 UX without a doubt the best looking, most customizable, overclockable and snappy-est running rom I've ever used! I am desperately waiting for the iron clad version of their JB one so I am keeping with the ICS one for now. I use NOVA launcher which gives you great scrolling animations that makes my Iphony buds real jealous. It also allows you to customize buttons, switch to 5 x 5 spacing (or higher if you want) grid instead of stock 4 x 4 for icons and widget space, and gives you a scrollable bottom doc and all sorts of other great features.
Couldn't be happier with that combo. Yeah you might still get an occasional force close but they're real rare and always have something to with the 3rd party app. Everything it comes with works like clockwork for me. :good: REM ICS! Oh and it has the most beautiful startup animation!
