I'm not really sure about the version numbers :/ Did you select "Latest" and not "Stable" recovery to be installed? You need "Latest"..!
Other than that... You are stuck on bl7 means that you are on 2.3.6, right? I think that official CM7.2 RC is a Froyo ROM. I could be wrong though. And even if it is, it still should flash it normally. (but you would end up being stuck at boot logo..!)
Anyway, Quarx's are the best Gingerbread builds (and latest) - http://quarx2k.ru/cm7-nightly-defy+/
P.S. You've posted in the wrong sub-forum

But the cammera will works (green lens Defy with BL7)? Also, I think he need to change that batt file? Where is it located and what's its name?

Oh, yeah, right, Quarx's Gingerbread builds are meant for an actual DEFY+ so you need the Defy battery fix (you can use the one provided by Auris for CM9, it's the same thing).
I have no idea about the SOC camera and BL7, though :-/ You can flash Froyo (CM7) kernel once you have CWM? Have no idea if it would work :S

the phone is rooted and i have 2nd init on it installed.... what now?
i want my camera and my battery back...
can i install CM 7 ?

The Development section is only for threads in which actual development is taking place

[Q] Defy+ - Help choosing CM7 ROM (Android 2.3.4)

I own a Defy+ with Android 2.3.4 (4.5.1-134_DFP-89) branded by Vodafone-Italy.
I would like to run a CM7 ROM without flashing kernel as I read that flashing kernel 2.3.6 is a one way operation and no downgrade is possible.
I read in other thread that this WhiteRabbit ROM which is flashable but uses GO Launcher that I do not like.
Are there other CM7 ROMs working with Defy+ and with less customization (CM7 "pure" would be great but I think epsilon3 ROMs are 2.3.6 kernel only)?
Thanks and sorry for being noob
defy+ cm7.2 nightlies for 2.3.4
If you want pure CM7.2 you could actually use epsylon's defy+ nightly builds
I suggest new CM7.2 Nightly build for defy+
Epsylon7 currently makes Cm7.2 defy+ nightly builds WITHOUT Kernel so that they are compatible with most (all?) current defy+ phones (i.e android 2.3.4 / 2.3.5 / 2.3.6).
from this great thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1458729 i found:
12-01-27 Epsylon7/Defy+:
cm72-120127.0846-NIGHTLY-Defy+ link: http://www.defy-cm.net/defy_plus-cm7-nightly/
and AL's posted Defy+ fixes for camera and battery etc http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ostcount=15069
I flashed those over my stock Defy+ 2.3.4 build 4.5.1-134_DFP-74
Remember to make nandroid backup etc ... study this defy FAQ/guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
for Rooting I used SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse
I used 2ndInit v2.0 from here (it has integrated busybox and CWM aka ClockWorkMod):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12837303
Then i installed the epsylon cm7.2 defy+ nightly directly over my stock rom using "2) How can I install CM7.1?" in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065798)
have fun!
p.s. a lot of different roms can be tried without having to upgrade SBF and blow those damned efuses.. do some reading around here on fixed SBFs and nandroid backups and you will understand more
Thanks for suggestions. I already have CWR and Snd Init. I will try CM in the weekend.
EDIT: writing from CM72, I could not resist. At a quick look... it is another phone
Some occasional app crash, but works great.
Sent from my MB526 using XDA App
A little update and a big thanks.
Everything works fine here on CM 7.2.
The difference in fastness of CM is impressive, camera works and battery charges to 100%. It seems CM consumes a bit more battery but it worthes it.
The only feature which is significantly worse than the original are the vocal commands which does not understand italian at all, but the applications itself is ok.
I will investigate on that.
Does anybody know if CM 7.2 (whenever it will be out) will OFFICIALLY support Defy+?
I could not find anything neither here nor on CM forums.
Stock - Cyanogenmod 7.2
yes from what i understand the CM7.2 Nigtlies will become official when once they are stable Epsylon/Quarx (and maniac103 ?) are working as part of official CM team..
hi guys!
i have a annoying issue with this nightly version(cm72-120127.0846-NIGHTLY-Defy+). my wifi shot dawn after ~20 min, when im not using my phone (i dont switch on the screen) its a bug or thers a setting for solve that problem?

It works fine if I start from 2.3.6? I've got me too the MB526 form Vodafone (si sono italiano pure io ).
What do you think about this room after 2 days? Yes, it's not a long time...but...i cloud not resist me too!!!!!!!
I don't know coming from 2.3.6, but coming from 2.3.4 I was really impressed.
PROs:
- phone is much more responsive
- switching wifi and silent mode on/off very fast and no need to confirm which wlan each time
- I got rid of Motoblur (common inbox is awful)
- audio volume increased
VSs:
- some occasional app crash
- camera works but the impression is a little less quality
- original vocal commands worked much better
From what I understood 2.3.6 should be ok as you don't flash kernel, but backup backup and backup again!
@lord: if the phone is idle why you need wifi? I would not notice that, but I will take a look.

Hi your posts were very helpfull to me, cause you have the same phone and build as I do. However, installing a CM7.2 on my Defy+ is still unsuccesfull.. As you said, I did not install a different SBF, but root my phone, install 2ndinit an made a nandroid backup (which I am now restoring after a failed ROM load )
I follow the steps in the topic you gave, but the problem is that my 2ndinit (CMW) says: "E:/Can't open /tmp/recovery.log" when I load the zip file from my SD card (after wiping cache and data). Pretty annoying. I tried now with "cm72.120127.0846-Nightly-Defy+" and a non Defy+ and more recent one: "CM72-20120304-NIGHTLY-Defy.zip"
Have been googling the error message, but most people say it happens when the wrong CM is used (not for Defy+) but I am doing that right..
Which version of CWM did you install?
After you install 2nd init for defy and open the app there are two options:
Stable recovery
Latest recovery.
I think you installed the stable recovery. If yes, now try installing the Latest recovery and install CM7. If no may be we will have to figure out something else!
I did choose the stable version indeed 0.6.7.
Now i did uninstall it and installed the latest 1.0.7, but when I reboot my phone it won't get into the boot menu but just boots into android. Tried it several times, but only with 0.6.7 I seem to be able to get in the menu
I have white rabbit 1.3 right now and it came with a bunch of cool customizing installation options though aroma, including ICS style which runs ADW instead of GO, much cleaner/faster, also my battery life is awesome. or you could download CM7 Barebones Jordan and build your own. I'm pretty sure I found both ROMs somewhere in these pages.

I can root my Phone and install my CM7 ROM with the Recovery.
If I boot the Phone normal it hangs at the Red Motorla Logo.
After install the Defy+ Nightly Build the phone boots complitly fine.
Actually I would like to use the nightly source to build a new ROM.
Is it possible to download this source code?

I am not sure, but previous versions by eppy, talking bout dec 2011 builds, were defy+ builds too and they worked on the normal defy. But I have forgotten, how or what was to do oO
I wouldn't try it, cause I am too afraid to do something wrong and brick. have you fully read through the CM9 thread? maybe there is kinda an answer.
Other possible problems, i thinnk can appeare are:
-Battery not loading, due to different battery properties
-Camera Problems
I would recommend, to wait these 2-3 days until a new defy build appears. This will be optimised for the "normal" defy.
I also heard people are experiencing problems with 1104 build...
You will have to flash the gingerbread kernel first (defy+ kernel) and afterwards you may have battery problems.
And if you have defy green lense your camera wont work.

Yup, as mentioned in this thread you can install in red lens defy after flashing the defy+/gb kernel but you also need a battery patch as the charge ratings are different for defy and defy+.

You may have to find the patch for battery first which works with DFP-231. Other than that, I don't think there should be any problem.

Did this work?
And if so could I please ask your opinion? I also have a red lens defy. I am on Epsylon3's froyo kernel and using Quarx's CM10. I want to go back to CM7.2 and want to use Quarx's nightly that has 720p recording. Do I need to flash a GB kernel and use the defy+ build for 720p to work, or can I stay on the froyo kernel and use the defy build? The reason I want to stay on froyo kernel is that I don't want the battery issues.
I tried a CM7 Defy+ build on my Defy Red Lens, used a battery fix I got from the ParanoidAndroid dev forum and it kinda worked. I say kinda cuz when I try to reboot it actually powers off and cannot get on til a battery pull, but everything else is OK

I have a CM9 GB kernel on defy red lens, wanted to install CM7 Defy + as multiboot. But my Cm7 shows a '?' for the battery status icon. Tried Battery fix for 1500mah defy red lense also tried ICS red lense batt fix but no use.
Battery fix
This is battery fix for Defy+ (MB526)
Install via "flash .zip" in the recovery them restart your phone
If it don't work, it's that the kernel had changed so, re-install attached kernel also by "flash .zip" in recovery system, restart your phone and you will see the battery's percentage.

Tried it but still no battery status. Maybe i have a froyo sbf flashed earlier and then I installed MIUI/WIUI n then installed the CM9 GB with GB kernel. Anyways dont want to do a fixed sbf +nandroid now and redo everything will try to get a CM10 Gb working.

Answer : How to custom Kernel ´Defy+ JB Quarx

Everything for testing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wrote this for maybe less confusion
Works with my Defy - red lense Bayer cam - on Defy+(gingerbread Kernel) Jelly Bean Quarx 24.8 Rom
I´ve
1. Flash test_2ndboot_6.10.zip from http://quarx2k.ru/ or my 2ndboot_06.10.zp from attached dropbox (search for 2ndInit recovery if you dont have and root your defy)
2. Boot into Recovery
3. Set 2ndboot as default
4. Go to tools/adb daemon and klick it and then reboot
If you want to go back to stock gb kernel flash stock kernel -like gb-234-451-134-signed.zip from dopbox i´ve attached
Remember everything is for Test the custom kernel
OT - Multiboot is ok with CM7 but akku is always 100%
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4fg71wuehyibzzx/oanepGgaRR
BIGNOTE: Green lens users who flashed redlens builds please dont try using flash, you will end up burning it like me and many others
Big thanks to our great DEV´s Quarx as porter :good: , Walter for fixing :good: and MS2 Dev czechop who made this possibile :good:
Great works men !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Defy red lens with defy + build gb kernel
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium
I have done it in such manner
1. Prepared on SD card:
- CM10 ROM 24/09 for MB526,
- gapps for JB
- Qkernel 2ndboot_06.10.zip (with improved 2ndboot.ko)
2. Done factory reset and viped caches
3. Installed CM10 and gapps in normal manner
4. Flashed Qkernel
5. Went to bootmenu and choosed 2nd-boot (there was no chance to set it as default... i think, because phone immediately reboots)
And achieved "half success". All is working but with extremely lags... Was said so after first bootup system suppose to be laggy and needs to wait some time on sleep state with WiFi switched off. I was waiting whole night.
So now I want to know, if my procedure is right.
Nobody mentions gapps during instali of ROM - i suppose it's so trivial so nobody count it on...
Another problem - is there need of factory reset or cache wipe?
After installing Qkernel i went to boot menu to set 2nd-boot as default, but when i choose 2nd-boot phone reboots and I don't know what now with this setting up deafult 2nd-boot...
I am trying to fond any reason of system lagginess. Maybe something was done wrong. What's your opinion? To change ROM build? Or something else...

If you are on boot loader ver 7 i cant say that it would work

I am using regular Defy with Bayer module and as first owner I am sure so there was not flashed any full sbf except once when I was forced to flash stock Froyo, so there is no case of BL7 I think...
So if I try can I flash this kernel over existing system or should I reflash ROM too?

In General section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909242&page=84
they talk about BL5 and BL6 is supportet by quarx not BL4 and BL 7
Some say it works on BL7
But better read there for your self.......beforr you flash anything and think about warrity/garantie
For every booting i had to umount and mount again the battery.
And no Deep-Sleep in about 12 hours
Anyone else with this problems?
---------- Post added at 09:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:49 AM ----------
Now Deep-Sleep is ok. Dont know why .... But ... Quarx said in the xda-developer thread,
that with no usb-cable and with wifi disabled the defy should go 10-15 sec. in deep-sleep.
Before i have had usb-cable on or wifi enabled. Maybe that has been the reason.
After 3 hours 14 % battery drain ... not good ...
Quarx edited a new Rom today.
But after getting more and more slow reactions from the defy+ i flashed the 24.09 version.
All tips didn't really work in a good way.
And I need my defy+ functionabel this days.
But next time again ...
And today again a new kernel for update as *.zip ...
quarx2k.ru/cm10-2ndboot-nightly-defy(+)/update_for_11.10_v2.zip
13.10 Kernel update:fix wifi tether(reboot), reduce battery drain, compiled with linaro 4.5, fix charge only mode, cleanup unused drivers.
