I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BRICKED DEVICES!!!
This recovery is based on ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7
This tutorial will not guide you how to flash a fully working touch-recovery, but how to flash recovery with touch buttons
Remember to take a Nandroid Backup before you do this.
1. Download this Zip-file: http://www41.zippyshare.com/d/83741517/337548/recovery.zip
2. Extract it to the root of your SD-Card (Place it directly on the SD Card, not in any folder)
3. Run Terminal Emulator (or download from Google Play/Android Market and then run it)
4. Write: su (Press Allow if you get that option)
5. Write: flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
You're Done
Reboot into Recovery Mode and you will have four touch-buttons at the bottom
does it work for sure with the viewsonic viewpad 10s ?
thanks in advance

I have rooted this device, but it is not booting into recovery mode now while holding down the home and power button.
It is stuck at the HERO screen.
I also tried to flash the recovery image using these commands.
1. Download the latest version of Amon_Ra's Recovery (1.7.0.1).
2. Rename Amon_Ra's Recovery Image to simply recovery.img & move it to the Android SDK Tools folder.
3. Toggle on USB Debugging (Settings » Applications » Development).
4. Connect the HTC Hero (GSM) to the computer.
5. On the computer, open the command prompt/terminal & navigate to the Android SDK Tools folder.
6. Type in the following commands:
adb push recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1.img /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1.img
adb shell
su
cd /sdcard/
flash_image recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1.img
reboot recovery
7. Amon_Ra's Recovery should now be installed on the HTC Hero (GSM).
After the reboot recovery command, the phone reboots and once again it is suck.
Any help?
Hi there,
I'll try and help as best I can...
First question has to be asked... Are you using the GSM version of the HTC Hero or the CDMA one?
2. Does your hero boot at all? Can you get to the lockscreen and use it as a normal mobile?
3. The instructions i see on AmonRA's post are slightly different from your own.
First, make sure you have at least 70% battery
Then, follow your instructions up to step 6. The final "flash_image" part seems incomplete.
You should be typing in:
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1.img
Click to collapse
Hope that makes sense!
Bantu85 is right
and if you changed the name like you said in step 2 to recovery.img you should
use that name instead of recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1.img

Hello All!
So my gt540 has already been rooted and fastboot works. I have been running a 2.2 rom flashed through fastboot for a few months now, but I would like to get clockwork recovery working now for the added features of flashing zips and restoring and whatnot.
I have has a lot of trouble finding clear directions on how and what to do to get clockwork recovery on this device. Like I said, I already have root and fastboot is working as well. Can anyone please provide me with instructions on what I need to do from this point?
I have looked at this thread already, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817903, but I am still unsure of what exactly I am to do. Also, the mirrors are broken on this page.
Thank you for your help!
download the app root toolbox from the market
and then download a recovery .img and go to advance
flash recovery, find the file and press on it.
wait until finish and then all done!
Or here are better instructions!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16783348&postcount=1
Installing recovery:
You have multiple choices to choose from.
ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.8 (Recommended)
ClockworkMod Recovery 4.x (Recommended but you may run into incompatible .zip files, download the recovery_clockwork_x.x.x.x_swift.zip file)
Amon RA 2.2.1 (Recommended)
Amon RA 1.7.0.1 (Not recommended due to incompatibility with zip files and recovery backups. Also .zips must be signed)
Download the recovery image of your choice (I strongly recommend Clockwork 2.5.1.8)
Next put your phone in Fastboot mode by rebooting then holding Camera+Power, make sure USB Cable is plugged in. Also let Windows search Windows Update for drivers.
Download fastboot.exe from here: http://adf.ly/2M8Hi and extract it to the desktop. Also put the recovery image you downloaded onto the desktop too.
Be sure to have your fastboot drivers installed, if you use Vista/Windows 7 then the driver should be auto-downloaded from Windows Update, if you use XP or the drivers won't install from Windows Update, then look at this.
Open a command prompt and type the following:
Code:
cd Desktop
fastboot devices (if you see ? fastboot then your device is recognized)
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot reboot
When fastboot says rebooting, hold down HOME and wait. You should see clockwork pop up. Recovery is now on your phone. You can delete the fastboot, kdz and recovery file from your pc because we won't be needing them again. Unless you need to use fastboot.exe again, but just download the fastboot.zip again if you need it) The other files, we don't need.
(NOTE: If your phone reboots with no boot logos (LG logo and animation), or when you flash recovery and it doesn't come up, follow the steps found here. Thanks to fishears for the post!)
Now, installing custom ROMs. Pick any ROM you'd like from the ROM Development section, if you can, get the recovery version, it is much easier to install. Determine if it is a recovery backup, or update.zip
Recovery backups usually contain some .img files and a nandroid.md5 file. The folder containing these files will need to go in the sdcard\clockworkmod\backup folder. Flash them by going to Backup/Restore>Restore>Then pick the backup folder.
Recovery update.zips contain three (or four) files/folders:
boot.img (file)
install-busybox.sh (file, only appears in SOME ROMs)
system (folder)
META-INF (folder)
DO NOT EXTRACT THESE, just put the .zip file on your sdcard, then go into recovery and go to install .zip from sdcard>choose .zip>pick the .zip you downloaded. (NOTE FOR SWIFTDROID: You MUST put the update-cm-xxxxx.zip file found in the SwiftDroid_x.x.x.x_Recovery.zip on your sdcard for it to install!!!)
THANKS TO EFFORTLESS FOR INSTRUCTIONS!!

Hi Everynone,
Well, this is my forst post here so if I'm doing anything wrong sorry. I will accept any tip to how use the forum as best I can.
Ok, goins into de point: it is my first time using custom roms, rooting and all other stuff with my Acer. I started using the ICS stock leak:
Acer_AV041_A500_0.009.00_WW_GEN1
Now I'm using Acer_AV041_A500_0.014.00_WW_GEN1 from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524736
Also, I'm using the ICSRoot version 3.1 (to have root) from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520469
And to finish I used this to installing bootloader/fix recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522384
As everyone can see I'm a noob, but I can learn a little fast
I'm doing all this to try install this rom:
ICS 4.0.3 FLEXREAPER-R5 for CWM or RA recovery flash
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517181
Now I think that all I need is install the RA recovery or CWM. I tried to install the CWM by Android Market using the ROM Manager, but when I do it the system give me a message "rom manager a500 does not have supported clockworkmod recovery".
Can someone help me to install CWM or RA Recovery? Can be showing me some guide (I tried, but I not found).
Regards,
Cristiano Santos

Ok,
Less noob now: I saw that I have RA Recovery installed when I did the process from "HowTo Installing the unlocked bootloader and fixing broken recovery in leaked ICS".
The problem is: I can't enter in RA Recovery, unless opening a CMD from my notebook and using the commands:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot recovery.img (using the recovery_thor17_403.img inside the nvflash directory).
When I use by this way I can enter in Recovery and, for example, make backup from actually nvran to sdcard. But I can't enter using the "Power button + Sound button". If I do it come the "Dead Android with exclamation" in the screen
Any tip?
Same question.
Does anybody can access to CWM recovery with the "volume-/power" command after having used the jm77's method for fixing their bootloader "issue"?

SOLVED!
The problem is: when you use the guide to install the CWM/RA have a file (/system/recovery-from-boot.p) that as "strra" told "reflashing stock recovery whenever you boot into android"!
What you have to solve:
Open the Terminal Emulator inside the tablet and do:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /system
cd /system
mv recovery-from-boot.p recovery-from-boot.p-BKP
[CODE]
Copy "recovery_thor17_403.img" the (is inside the nvflash-A500.zip from the original jm77 thread), open a CMD in your laptop/PC and do
[CODE]
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery_thor17_403.img
That's it! Now we have the RA Recovery!
Don't make a mistake: I'm a completly noob! All I have done was used the all information in this order:
- Installed the ICS from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524736
- Rooted using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520469
- CWM/RA Recovery using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522384
- And to finish used the trip from our buddy "strra" from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23223347&postcount=14

Thank for the tip you blackthund3r, but the problem was it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23223347&postcount=14
As our frind "strra" told: "it's because you didn't delete recovery-from-boot.p from /system and it's reflashing stock recovery whenever you boot into android".
Thank you so much you incredible work blackthund3r. I used another hands-on guide to get root, but your ICSRoot is so far easer!

While searching a working ClockworkMod recovery for my Karbonn A21, I found this site builder.clockworkmod.com
You can upload your stock recovery here and get latest CWM recovery compiled (any phone) ..
You can download CWM recovery for Karbonn A21 (Check Attachment) which I have compiled from stock recovery using above tool. It has touch support and working fine.
No bugs so far...
Prerequisites: Rooted Karbonn A21
Steps to flash recovery using AIO flasher:
1. Download and extract recovery.img from zip.
2. Install AIO Flasher by Fonehacker from here
3. Boot Your Phone In Fastboot Mode( By Pressing power+volume up when switched off, leave keys when green screen appears.)
4. Connect phone to computer (You must have drivers installed or try PdaNet)
5. From AIO flasher menu select recovery. Then select file (i.e. recovery.img)
6. Flash. And Done.
Steps to flash recovery using Terminal Emulator:
1. Download this zip file.
2. Extract the contents anywhere and copy the recovery.img file from there to the root of your SD card.
3. Install “Terminal Emulator” on your phone.
4. Open up terminal emulator on your phone and enter the command
su
5. Giving the "su" command will open a prompt asking you to give superuser rights to the app.
Give the app these rights by tapping the “allow” (or equivalent") button.
6. Then, give this command
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 of=/sdcard/originalrecovery.img bs=4096
And finally, enter
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 bs=4096
This will flash clockworkmod rcovery on your device.
7. If you want to flash stock recovery back to your device, use
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 of=/sdcard/cwmrecovery.img bs=4096
and then
dd if=/sdcard/originalrecovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 bs=4096
Thanks to:

You version of CWM is 6.0.3.2 and mine is 6.0.3.6
Newer is better
And most of all mine recovery has touch support.
Eklovya had already uploaded recovery before than you. Then why did you upload yours?
Updates keep rolling, we need updated versions with less bugs. That's why I uploaded the recovery. :silly:
