Hi guys!
This is my first post here
I have been doing some testing myself for the last few days and I have noticed something which I want to share with you.
- First Scenario:
From clean stock ROM 2.3.6, i have rooted my Note and then flashed ICS Repack. Reboot and Ops! Yellow Triangle (expected).. Then later on installed the ICS Stunner 4.3. Yellow Triangle is still there.
- Second Scenario:
From clean stock ROM, too, I have rooted my Note and then installed Kitchen ROM (via CWM) which is based on the stock ROM itself. No Yellow Triangle here.
Later on, I have installed the ICS Stunner via CWM and I am enjoying it without the Yellow Triangle.
My question here; would the counter be increased in the second scenario?
Thank you guys
how did you flash it originally? CWM or odin ?

Although the yellow triangle was removed, the flash counters is still here
As far as I know, the binary counter only increases when you flash any ROM other than stock Samsung ROM through PC Odin. This is when the yellow triangle appears. If you flash any ROM with Mobile Odin/CWM (maybe other recoveries too), you won't increase the counter or that yellow triangle will appear.
Your second scenario won't increase your flashcounter cos you used CWM to flash the ROM.
That's also the cause for the missing yellow triangle.
The same effect can be achieved by flashing with mobile odin.

So I recently rooted my LTE Tab 10.1 after some errors on my part. I finally got root, and the bootloader unlocked (thanks to six5alive's post here) Here's what I have:
CWM recovery
unlocked bootloader
Rom Manager installed
SU permissions
I've tried flashing two different ROMs, and both flash without a problem. But when I attempt to reboot, I get the Samsung logo and a yellow triangle below it, and then the tablet shuts down. At first I thought it was just the ROM, but after flashing two, I'm getting suspicious. I have a Nandroid backup of the stock rooted ROM, and that restores & boots properly every time.
What am I doing wrong?
You might have root but from the sounds of it the tab does not like the insecure kernel hence the yellow triangle on the logo screen. On a tab, I am not sure how to get around this.
Why not run stock and use TiBu to get rid of the bloatware until you can find a solution? Keep a Nandroid of bone stock then another for your custom settings...

Strange, when I flashed the ISI-Galaxy rom on my P7100 i got then same thing as you, when i turned the device off it automatically went back on with the same result. I had the idea that i was going to have to bring it back to the shop for repairs but... This happened while i was at work. So i placed the Tab in my backpack but when i got home a half an hour later the device was functioning again. So maybe yours needs some time to get over this 'boot up'.

I think I have an explanation as to why its crashing. The ISI-Galaxy Rom and P7500XWKK4 Galaxy Tab 10.1 / HC 3.2 ROM are for the P7100 model. Yours is the SCH-I905 model so the roms you tried to flash are incompatible.
Just realized that ZangetsuNX-01 is right, I've been flashing WiFi-only ROMs, not ROMs for the Tab 10.1 LTE. Downloading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17858660#post17858660 now, will flash and post results here asap.
UPDATE: got a leaked TW ROM to install via Odin and boot, posting this from the tablet. Added a screenshot for kicks.
BTW, for anyone with an LTE Tab, flash this via ODIN NAO!!!!
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/10463-ro...x-leak-build-for-vzw-galaxy-tab-101-lte-only/
It's unrooted, with stock recovery, but you can follow the directions on the page to get root, it's simple. Just Odin a recovery .tar file, go to recovery, flash SU zip, and voila. Running it at 1.4GHz max, 1GHz min, and it's awesome. TouchWiz is also a nice step up from stock HC.

I'm not sure what the question here is, but I was suggesting that if you have an LTE Galaxy Tab 10.1, you should flash the ROM that I provided a link to. It's a good ROM, and I've been running it for 2 days now.

I selected the 'Z' image from a Abysskernel .zip file and used Odin mobile to select the file in 'Kernel', flashed and now I keep getting the Abyss 'LOADING...' screen, is this normal?
Either i'm missing a step or I have done something wrong
I'm going to try PC odin, see if that works.
Any help please??? This is why people should give precise and clear instructions in regards to flashing.

I was using a ROM that was flashed back in March, it was either Imikla's or a similar ROM based on Chinese leak. Nope...I was just trying to get rid of the infected kernel (Samsung leak) so I can install a CM9 ROM.
BTW...I can get into 'Download' mode if that helps and PC Odin recognizes my phone when I connect via cable so hopefully I can fix asap.
you cannot boot cm9 with abyss, imho. put a new *zip gingerbread rom on your sd card and flash it.
or safer if you put it on download mode and flash a stock GB rom.

People are saying to flash a safe kernel over an infected kernel before flashing stuff and you are telling me to do something else?

If you flash abyssnote kernel via pc odin over ICS rom, after flashing your phone will reboot system automatically. This is impossible cos you have gingerbread kernel installed over ics rom. And the advice to flash abyss means to flash the zip-file in CWM recovery and after flashing you are still in recovery mode. if you try to reboot system after that from recovery --> stuck. But instead you should flash ROM straight after flashing abyssnote. Hopefully this will clear some things! and please tell me if you are serious when saying that you got your binary counter reseted!

Yes I'm aware of that. I think you're quite much smarter in these things than I am so would you explain how it is possible when this guy says "Its worked, also...I had 11 counts on my flash they are all set to zero by just flashing the GB rom, I flashed a overseas ROM."? May not be true what he says but if it is, then something in his procedure reseted his counter and he didn't say a thing about JIG or triangleaway.
Would be nice if someone here knew what happened with this guys binary counter
Thanks!

I wasn't pulling anyone's leg, my triangle disappeared and I presumed the flash count had reset, I don't know much about these things. I've just checked and my flash count is still at 11, I also lost root somehow so that's another reason why I thought everything had reset, now I have the long process of downloading a very earlier stock rom so I can root it.
Apologies for any confusion, my flash count still remains the same as before.

Okay, my question is that if you shut down your phone, press vol down + home + power til your in download mode and then press vol up, what does your custom binary counter say. Zero? And if it says zero, did you have some other counts before?

you can make your own jig. or use triangle away.
Hi all, I apologize if this issue has been discussed somewhere else on the forum, I've searched the forum with no avail. So down to my issue.
I've got an SGH-I337m Galaxy S4 and I'm trying to use Triangle Away to reset my flash counter. When I get the application to reboot my phone, then hold the power button for 10 seconds like it instructs. I get to a Triangle Away screen that says: could not find triangle and counter data.
One person mentions this on a different forum, but with no replies: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114&page=344
I'm running stock android, stock kernel and CF-auto-root. I have flashed the recovery a couple of times but it does revert back to stock.
Thanks, in advance.
Correction, I have TWRP recovery on the phone. Could this be why? Does Triangle Away only work on stock recovery?
Thanks
you need to be rooted (which i dont think you are) in order to use triangle away. have you verified you have root?
Hi thanks for the reply.
I have verified that I do have root for sure. I have Titanium backup and the like installed and working fine.
just to be sure, you have superSU?
Yes I can verify I have SuperSU installed and I can grant root access to applications such as triangle away, titanium backup
well then if you are rooted but have yet to flash anything, specifically a kernel, the counter likely hasn't increased/stays at zero on boot. i believe the counter only increases if you flash a custom kernel.
Point taken. I'm just trying to get back to the point where I can receive OTA updates when they come out. My device status is currently "custom" I want to revert back to stock and I thought resetting the counter would help me achieve this. Maybe not?
I have used triangle away with no problems before to get back to stock but to remove the "custom" status I had to flash the stock firmware with odin after running triangle away and booting into download mode right after. Then I 2as able to do the OTA update. Then I had to re root it.
Sent from my SGH-I337M using xda premium
I just tried flashing the stock firmware back onto the phone. Lost root and can no longer triangle away. My device status is still custom. I can re root it but is triangle away going to give me problems still?
So triangle away doesn't seem to work on stock recovery. I tried what you said you did droidz79, flashed the firmware then rebooted into odin right after. This didn't work either because triangle away didn't find triangle or counter data previously. Now I'm on a stock rom that both e-mail app and s health app crash on. I really need to get back to stock.
Thanks for all the help.
i have a Sprint S4 on MF9 firmware using twrp recovery and Crawj's odexed wifi mod with stock kernel, and i get the same error. i have searched and am not sure if because of the custom recovery TA won't work. Any help?

I put system files in the phones framework folder to hack free hotspot. I rebooted and the phone was stuck on the yellow sprint logo. I pulled the battery and used odin to i guess flash mf9, then cf auito root. last time i was stuck on this screen this worked.
But now i'm screwed.
I tried a wipe factory reset and it still didn't help.
I flashed a kernel zip file using odin by accident (KERNEL - SPR _ L720vpuamf9-1372121308)
now it boots and gets stuck at the same screen but the screen is blank. only the blue light lights up.
any clues???
now it says set warranty bit kernel, when it used to say set warranty bit recovery

Your not bricked
This is exactly the same issue I had. You tried to downgrade after upgrading and flashed some stuff to fix it right? Yeah bad idea. Anyway.
Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2506562
Follow it step by step. It solved my issues.
I already sent it out to be replaced
I have insurance through a 3rd party, so it might be forgiven that I rooted it. If not, and they send it back to me, I will have to rely on all your helpful guidance. I am very grateful. You guys rock.
Just so its as clear as can be, here is a list of my mistakes. LOL
1. I did try to take the OTA update. It didnt take and only messed with storage for some reason. Not broke yet.
2. Flashed back to MF9 with Odin 3 v.1.87. Oops.
3. Flashed MF9 and CF auto root a few times back and forth trying to get it to take.
4. It is a bit hazy here, but I tried to use odin 3.07 to go back to mf9, but it wouldn't work. I instead used odin to root the f#cker and to my amazement it worked. Now I was rooted on 4.3! MJA I got the idea from this thread>>>>>>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511209
5. Then it was all gravy for a few days minus the annoying security notifications every so often about an app trying to access the system..blah blah blah. I wanted my hotspot hack back (the entire reason for the root) so I placed the altered system files in the framework to allow for hotspot service
and rebooted. Thats when **** got real. it booted up to the full yellow screen that shows the sprint logo. The blue led was strobing slowly and it just stayed that way for a few minutes. I got scared and tried going through steps 1 through 4 again to no avail.
6. Then I really messed up and flashed the MF9 Kernel zip file by mistake or maybe more out of desperation, and all that did was make the screen black after the samsung logo, but the blue led still illuminated.
All well, I already sent it out. I should get a new one soon.
If they dont let me swap it I will upgrade to the note 3.
Any ideas about the note 3 vs the sgs4, except for the obvious size and Ghz difference?
Hi everyone,
So i'm a complete noob at this whole .. custom rom thing, and I just googled instructions, and followed them. Except now I think I may have lost my recovery mode ... everything.
I bought the phone off craigslist, and it had a 4.4 kitkat installed. But I didnt like it and wanted the stock version, so i tried installing 4.3 on it. Except now I cannot get past the samsung logo (not to mention the boot animation is not right) and I cant even get into recovery mode.
When i press the buttons I just get a "recovery booting' on the top left corner, the samsung galaxy s4 logo for about 5 seconds and then everything turns off.
HELP! Ive not even had this phone for 24 hours yet!
I tried using Kies and Odin to get the roms to install, but I think theres something wrong with recovery or the boot.. both kies and odin say that the installation was successful, but I cannot get past boot or get into recovery at all. (i can get into download fine)
I read about the whole mf3 soft-bricking but I'm using a i337m phone, the Canadian one. is there a chance that that could happen to me too? I didnt check which version I was using before I tried odin because stupid me thought that all i337m devices work the same.
Best course of action would be to download the complete stock ROM and modems. As much stock as you can find. There's a thread for all the customs. Boot into download mode, then use Odin to flash the ROM.
If it then fails to boot ... try flashing CWM and reboot into recovery ... erase and restore all data and hope for the best.

I would definitely go back as far stock as you can if you just want essential functionality. However, if you want something fun....there's no harm in putting it to a custom ROM / Kernel / Modem
I personally use MDOB (stock, rooted and runs my Galaxy Gear) with Toonzez (sp?) Kernel.

Knox cannot be untripped, nor will it ever. So forget that idea. Flash a stock firmware with odin, reroot, and go from there. Easiest way to get kernel back stock if you're new to odin and flashing in general. Tick auto - restart in odin, use pda button in odin to select the firmware, and flash. Lots of guides with steps and captures to assist with odin around here. Check out a return to stock thread for your make /model/region

Hey everyone,
So after a whole month, I still haven't gotten anywhere. I managed to get an OS onto the phone so that its no longer "soft bricked" but it cannot connect to wifi, and can't call. The call goes through, but then the phone freezes. It also will be lagging for a long time after the call attempt.
I'm wondering if I should just try flashing it a couple of times again with a custom rom since I can't use kies? Btw, I dont know if this is possible, but i feel like i might have lost stock recovery. I can't factory reset, or anything that has to do with recovery what so ever. It just does not exist on this phone.....
Bricked SG4
I have the Samsung GS4 i337 mk2 v4.3 (rooted) for a month and ending up with just the wait..... android downloading, don't know if that is a hard or soft brick, but took it to the AT&T distribution center in Portland, Or and they flashed it back to stock, FREE, no questions asked. Just though everyone would like to know.
