[21st July 2011] [Q] Where to get T-mobile HD2?

Pardon me if I am posting at a wrong place or some awkward question but I need help, please.
I am looking for T-mobile version of HTC HD2, one comes in black box and has red/green button. But I can't find one. There are some in ebay and amazon, but what looks like either the seller are not 100% reliable or maybe the package is not unopened/intact. When I sent those supplier a mail, they told me that they had to open the box to see if all the contents are there or not. Isn't that really funny excuse that a product from T-mobile needed a checking if it is perfect or not? What worrying me is about the 16 GB micro sd card which the seller can replace with a cheap chinese one. So I am looking for 100% intact and sealed, T-mobile carrier locked phone, I will unlock it later myself. Can anyone please tell me where to get one fresh piece and how much it can cost with no contract?

To get a brand new t-mobile one you would have to get it from a t-mobile store or dealer and buy it out right if you can find one that is still selling them. Your best bet is Craigslist but don't rush, some one honest is bound to post one in your listing. I'm a T-mobile dealer and we might have some brand new in our warehouse. PM me if you are interested.

I'm not sure why the stress to have new unopened hd2. I use to sell on ebay and if you complete your order via paypal you'll be covered if something went wrong. Plus the 16gb that comes with the phone isn't a really good sd card. I would go with a 8gb class 6 or higher. Much better then 16gb class 2. I personally got a hd2 off ebay for $120 & then bought a transcend 8gb class 10 on ebay for $15 so my total cost was only $135. They do have new unopened hd2 on there but you'd really have to keep looking. Plus ask questions to. If they say something in the listing that's not true or if they don't list something and you have a problem with the phone you can always return it. Paypal is very good about that.

Thanks htccraze for your reply, actually I was looking to buy 2 units, one is for my younger brother who is very perfectionist and always look for something fresh and new to explore, actually he gets it interesting. I have gifted him many gadgets and all where fresh, and you can't imagine the happiness I see on his face.
If it was for me only, I could grab the amazon one, as I need this for my regular android dev purposes.
I hope to take a look at nearest T-mobile store in NY.

Newegg has em for $280 unlocked, not sure if it comes with the class 2 16gb sd or not. I recommend upgrading to a much faster card anyways.

yeah i can see your point now. since its a gift for someone i would advise to get a new device. if your looking to buy them out right without a upgrade the lowest i've seen them is $269.99 on ebay listed here. it says new and in original packageing but i would still make sure its unopened by asking the seller.
i did see someone said they bought an hd2 with they're upgrade for $50 or something like that which i do see on they're website its available for $360 without the upgrade. also if your due for an upgrade sometime soon you can buy a phone a lot cheaper from places like wirefly.com & letstalk.com over the t-mobile store. they are new devices and come unopened and can save you about $80-$150 by buying them from there over the t-mobile store. i've even hunted down promo codes for phones i bought in the past from both sites and i was able to get a free bluetook from letstalk & i saved $80 off my order on wirefly. if you do go into the store ask them if they can come down on they're price at all because i have seen them do it. they offered me $50 off the price they listed because i said i seen it much cheaper online. just be friendly and maybe you could get a similiar offer.

I will be visiting the T-mobile store, however yesterday I tried online and the HD2 was out of stock.

Thanks for the great support and idea, I will now hunt for deal. by the way, what upgrade you were talking about? the rom? if it is so, then me and my brother will be running windows phone 7 and android dual boot, so do i need that upgrade?
and if it is not that upgrade then what you were pointing?
the one ebay you showed I talked to them, and they replied that they had to open the box to see if the content are there or not, how funny, a product from t-mobile needed inspection!!!!

yea it seems that a lot of people on ebay inspect a phone and its in great "used" shape they'll try to list it as new. the easiest way to find out if its new or not is buy taking the back cover off and looking for dust anyway. but anyway. the upgrade i was talking about is lets say you have a contract with t-mobile every two years you can get a new phone and renew your contract. by doing so you can get a phone much cheaper because your signing on to a new two year contract with them. normally they knock off a couple hundred dollars when your able to do an upgrade.
here is an example of buying a phone at wirefly with an upgrade: t-mobile.com has the mytouch 4g listed for $129.99 shown here. but if you qualify for a two year upgrade you can get the same phone from wirefly for free shown here. thats a $130 savings for the same phone using the same upgrade just buying it at a different place. this price is only good if you are a new customer or if you qualify for an upgrade. you can check to see if you do qualify for one from the site but i checked earlier and they said check back later. you can also contact t-mobile and ask them when you'll be due for one or if you know when you joined with t-mobile just add two years and thats when you'll be due for one. i joined in oct of 2009 so i will be due for my upgrade this coming oct 2011.
if you aren't due for an upgrade any time soon then your best bet would be to try online store's like circuit city and radioshack or any place like that really. both of those places though i think except promo codes so if you can hunt one down you'll be able to save some money that way.

[Q] Buying new TF

Square Trade has decided that my TF can't be repaired because the glass is not available and they don't know when it will be available - not good news for anyone else with broken glass. But they are going to send me $499 (I had the 32) and I'll buy another one (though probably a 16 this time). Does anyone think there are differences in stock at different retailers? My gut sense is to go with Amazon, since they probably have the highest turnover and might have newer stock but I'm not sure that even makes sense. I bought my original from NewEgg when they were first available so it was very much a first generation manufacturer. And had no problems at all except a small light bleed. TIA for any suggestions. - sheureka

I just ordered a 16 gb TF from Amazon and it came DOA. The screen would turn on but it was solid black and nothing would display. So I had to replace it. Amazon is shipping another one in the mail now and I am returning the one I got. The return process was painless but it's painful to wait so long to get it. I live on an APO address in Japan so I have to wait like 2 weeks.

I'd go with Amazon. If you don't get one you like, you can ship it back for free, which is awesome.
Also, if you have a student email-address, you can sign up for Amazon Prime for a year and get free 2-day shipping. So there.

Refurbs availalable starting 12/11 at 7pm eastern time on Ebay. 16gb for $99 and 32GB for $150. I don't know how many they will have but it is a limit of 2 per ebay ID.

Sounds great. I just hope that those of us that missed the last sale will be able to somehow get one this round. Not to be too pessimistic but I imagine they sell out in a matter of minutes.

[Q] How many folks got the Newegg Black Friday Thrive 8GB at $199?

This is a bit late, but I've been kicking myself since Black Friday, as I set my wife up on two machines and myself on two machines to pick up the Thrive 8GB for $199.
She managed to get one, but for me, it stalled when loading the CC page, hung and eventually let me buy it, only to see an out of stock email about 15 minutes later...
I'm trying to see how many thrives were out there? Looked on fatwallet and the ultra secret black friday sale thread jokingly said there were only 5. If so, I don't feel so bad
So if you're one of the lucky few or know of someone that was, please tell, to help my bruised ego

I didnt get that one...but did manage to get a Toshiba Thrive 8gb for my son for Christmas ...Black Friday at Best buy. But it was 279.00. I was kind of disappointed at the 8gb...but I felt the price was decent. I bought one for myself too!

I too missed out on the NewEgg deal, but picked one up from amazon for the same price around 5pm on BF.
Hopefully there are more of us on here.

Unfortunately I didnt. I too bought it from best buy. I was able to nab one when the workers told me that they didnt have any asus and for awhile said they had no thrives. Makes me believe they hid a few for themselves. I dont need 8gb and love the full hdmi and usb. I just use it for a media center and browsing online with some other apps. All in all i love it.

I've got one of the Newegg 8gb models. I had my eye on the Thrive for a while - so when doing Black Friday stuff I saw it go up on fatwallet - I camped out in front of the PC for it.
Basically I made sure my newegg account was logged in, made sure my shipping/CC info was ready to go, and got ready. It was basically click-click-click-click-stupid Mastercard verification-click.

Best deal on HD+ or wait till Black Friday

I have gone from Nook Color to Nook Tablet and now want the larger screen of the HD+. My previous devices have all been refurbs directly through the B&N ebay site and have never had a problem. It seems like most of the local stores don't seem to have the HD+ in stock any more so I'm wondering if there are going to be any good deals for a brand new unit for Black Friday. Should I just go with one of the ebay sites selling refurbs for around $115 now, or wait to see if I can get a new one during Black Friday? Does anyone know if B&N ever sells the refurbs any more or do they just have other sites doing it now? I felt a lot better getting it directly through them before.

You can do what I did- Staples lowered the 16 gig price to 129; I called them up about 3-4 time till one of their customer service reps applied a $20 off coupon manually (it technically probably shouldn't have been applied). Got my brand new 16gb for $117 including tax and shipping. Having a little trouble getting it to run as smooth as I like, but once I work all the little kinks out I believe it will be one of the best deals I've ever gotten. I wanted to try waiting till black Friday, but I figured a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Staples does not have them available online and there are no staples in St. Louis (or nearby) for some stupid reason. Best Buy seems to be out of the 16GB. B&N retail stores have them, but I doubt they would price match Staples since they are not available. I just ordered some screen protectors so that when I do order one, I can stick one as soon as I open it. Hopefully the Black Friday ads start showing up so I can see if there is going to be any deals. I'm almost ready to just pull the trigger on one of the Ebay refurbs.

Ahh that sucks they dont have them anymore. Wish this thread would have been up even two days earlier, just friday I sent back a $99 refurb That I had ordered right before I had caught the staples deal.
But either way, depending on what your using it for, this can be a great tablet. Even though its a little older and not pushing as many pixels, I have found that my touchpad was running a little bit smoother than this. But I think as more builds come out, and people keep tweaking etc. this is going to be a really really solid tablet.:laugh:

Has anyone else seen any good deals on a new HD+ from a local store (B&N, Bestbuy, Target, Walmart, etc)? I'm hoping I'll be able to order one online through one of these sites on Thanksgiving day (or earlier). I won't be able to go out in all the Black Friday madness.

Only thing I would suggest is to watch those deal sites such as Bens bargains for deals or try craigslist. Good luck.

They come and go at that price. I bought one from beststopdeals for $99 ten days ago. They are higher now.
I would not expect Black Friday to feature any Nooks at fire sale prices. Black Friday specials feature second and third tier merchandise at ridiculous prices, not "pre-owned" skus that have been on clearance for months. Maybe someone (probably B&N) will be selling new units for $129 (again).
Here's how I get the best prices if I'm willing to be patient:
1) set up a search with email notification at stuffalert.com. This free site only searches *bay but you can specify the country, buying format and price, etc.
2) set up an alert at slickdeals.net. I often find very good prices at big box stores like Kmart and Walmart where I don't usually shop.

I'll check a couple of local OfficeMax's and see if they have any. Too bad you can't check online. I might be willing to go $129 for a new one.

Right now a local Staples is holding a Nook HD+ for $130 for me. While the local GameStop is selling off the Nexus 7 2012 version for $99. I am unsure which one to get. I talked to the Staples store and they will price match the Nexus 7 from GameStop I know this is a Nook forum but which would you recommend. I like the bigger screen, but am worried about being able to upgrade to KitKat like the Nexus products will be able to do.

I ended up buying a refurb one on Ebay for $115, it arrives tomorrow. I was just out shopping and looked around in sears and they had a new one for $129. Wish I would have stopped by there last week. Their online price shows as $149 and it also says they didn't have them at my local store. If you are interested in a new one, it might be worth stopping by your local Sears to see if they have any for $129.

I just bought a 32gb this morning from staples with a $50 off coupon and the amex $25 off $75. Came out to $115 so I'm really excited! I saw one of them on display at target and thought they look great! I was ready to get one from ebay refurbished too so am really glad I didnt. The 7 inch tablets are too small (have 1st gen kindle) and tried an Asus 10 inches that was too big so this is middle ground.

target nook hd 79 on black fri but go to your local walmart they will price match and you will not have to wait in line at target also you can buy the warranty at walmart and they will give you a gift card if it breaks not you having to send it in and them fix it. its a gift card for the full purchase price and the warranty is 2 years for 9 dollars well worth it. already had to use it once
