Amen, those docks are elusive... I actually have a friend in Taiwan who's gonna look around locally for me to see if there are any US version docks over there. I'll update if I here back that there are some...

I've had a preorder in for the dock on Amazon since they first listed it (the night of the midnight release). I preordered the dock and the tablet from them but cancelled the tablet because Bestbuy.com actually had one to sell me that night while Amazon.com was out of them before I made it through the whole order process.
I imagine Amazon's backlog of preorders for the dock is pretty huge by now.
Of course, if anyone else can actually confirm a shipping unit out to me before my Amazon preorder ships I'll cancel that as well, but I suspect the dock will be really, really difficult to find for a while, though it is kind of puzzling as to why (as cool as the dock concept is, the dock is a fairly straightforward piece of electronics compared to the tablet).
AFAIK the dock hasn't actually sold a single unit retail yet, the only copies I've heard about were the ones sent to reviewers.
Thanks for putting up this thread. Really getting frustrated with the total lack of nws from ASUS about the dock. Sure, they're out of tabs, fine, but do they really have zero keyboards to go out with the tabs they did ship to the usa? It is ridicukous. Here's hopibg we get some news and a big pile of docks very soon.

I'll post my experience if it helps anyone. I ordered my dock from AmericanTV when they were selling it as a pre order on the 23rd. Was able to snag it for just under $140 shipped, my credit card has already been charged, but the item has not shipped yet. They sent me a confirmation email for the order that was immediately followed by another email tha said the item was out of stock and would ship once the items became available. At the time, the estimated time was about 2 weeks or so. They also sent me a paper receipt in the mail, but I haven't heard anything else since.

I had an order at JR.com for both the tablet and dock. But then my amazon order updated, so I canceled by J&R order. But when talking to J&R on the phone, they said they expect to get docks in early May. Since BestBuy website also says Dock available in May, and it is already May, I would expect them to pop up soon all over the place.

Yeah, I've had a pre-order with J&R since 4/26 for the dock as well. I am guessing 2nd week of May we start hearing about these little suckers trickling out. Hopefully I'll get mine soon since its one of the main reasons I got this tablet and am considering selling my ipad...

For the dutch/belgian people looking for a dock. I asked Asus Benelux and they expect the dockings in NL/BE to be available in July.
Anybody knows if they are already delivered in UK?

I also have a pre-order from J&R. Well, my pre-order consists of me walking 30 feet to J&R from work every day to check if it's in stock.
going insane waiting for the dock. but i'm really hesitant to preorder anywhere. i'd prefer best buy or amazon over anyplace else. but honestly probably going to end up preording someplace else if nothing happens at best buy/amazon in a week. can always cancel.
I just put a preorder in on B&H. Obviously no one is shipping these yet but hopefully in the next week or so we'll see some start going out. Now that I've finally got my tablet on the way, I guess it'll make waiting for the keyboard dock a little less stressful. Talk to me in a week though!
At this point I just want to get one on order, since nobody has recieved on in the US yet who do you guys think is the best bet for pre order?

There is someone on Ebay selling over 20 of the keyboard docks for $169 shippied with an ETA of May 13, that's not a bad price or delivery date. But wouldn't that indicate that availability for others should be around the same time?

it's actually excalliberpc. they charge $150+shipping on their real site so on ebay they're charging $170 with free shipping.
I have one preordered at fry's, lets see.
I bought a 10 " inch screen 8 gigabyte version of the A500 Iconia from Best Buy. Seems to be ether a new model or one only made for Best Buy. I haven't gotten it in yet through the mail. I wonder if it will have the same specs as the 16GB model(aside from the memory of course)....and the same quality.
They sell the 8gb version at Costco too. Once the sold out of the 32gb they pulled that in.

As of last week, the 8Gb was 350 at Costco here in the Seattle area. Came with a sort of weak free case.
Congrats on the purchase. I picked one up from Best Buy as well. Now if they'd get around to shipping it, I'd be even happier.
The two things that have been noticed on this one is the lack of mention of GPS anywhere (though many of us are hopeful that it has GPS) and that power indicates 110 whereas all other models indicate 110/220.
Haven't seen anything else yet so now we're all waiting for our units to arrive to begin the fun.

GPS is not mentioned in any of the versions of A500 tabs.
pretty sure they all have GPS. plenty of threads exist with a500 users having wifi only models and using GPS. just make sure to apply all the GPS tweaks
a stock a500 isnt quite as hot as a tweaked out a500. earl reviews of the stock item at the original retail price were just OKAY at best. but if you tweak the little it turns into quite the little tablet.

say what? i have a wifi only version(a500) and it has gps. no tweaks needed. i doubt these 8gb versions have gps. official acer site and best buy have no mention of gps at all.
can anyone that actually has one in hand check? what a total bummer if it didnt.
this is the same a500 model as any of the other a500 models, with only 8gb. every a500 has built-in gps, just like every samsung galaxy tab 10.1 has gps. you dont need to have the 3G (a501) model to have gps.
the acer website doesnt list ANY of the 8/16/32 or 501 models as having GPS at all, so you can't go by that.
The 8gb one I bought at Costco has gps. I'm going to return it though because I decided to get a 32gb one from Tigerdirect for $400. 8gb just wasn't getting it done with Honeycomb's inability to move apps and data to the sdcard like Gingerbread. I was using almost all of the internal memory and I only had 8 of my games installed. Those Gameloft games need a lot of memory.

I got the 32GB one from costco for a similar price, $350 + tax. But if you can get bestbuy's price at $220, it might worth it.
its 429 plus tax at costco... did you use some kind of coupon?
The $229 8gb Acer A500 at Best Buy was a Cyber Monday deal that actually sold out by early Sunday morning. I think I saw "normal" pricing referred to as $380. I was lucky enough to snag one of the Cyber Monday tablets, but even though they say 0-1 day to ship, it is still "in process" and has not shipped yet.

I'm going to assume that means business days. It should be ready to ship today but who knows what the details are. Best Buy may not have them and are awaiting shipment from Acer which would explain why they weren't available immediately for store pickup (which was set at 5-7 days).
Hoping for the best as I'd like to get my hands on this tablet and start playing with it.

From what I've read, it does NOT have a GPS in it. I'll have to find my sources, but if you google the SKU, it's a special, Best-Buy only device (from what I could find).

I ordered Noon-ish on Sunday, and it said "processing, 0-1 days..blah blah" until about noon EST today (tuesday).
Yes, it gave me a tracking number, and the original order (with 2-day shipping) said EXPECTED DELIVERY: Nov 30-Dec 1. UPS shows it as on time, Nov 30 by the end of the day.
EDIT--it does say it shipped on the 28th, even though I didn't get an email or tracking number until mid-day the 29th.

Lucky basterd! I ordered mine on Sunday at around 2:30am. Yeah that early, I don't know why I was still up that late lol. Mine still says order is being fulfilled or something like that so I the order hasn't been processed but it does let me cancel it anymore. The estimated dates I have are earliest Dec. 1 and latest Dec. 8
Yeah the folks over at slickdeals who bought the tab are all arguing on if it has GPS or not and if it has a flash mem or a micro hard drive. HAHA! I can understand the GPS debate, but the other one is just plain stupid.

EDIT: And none of the A500 tabs on acer's official website list anything about GPS, but they obviously do so I would assume that this one does too.

This is a bit late, but I've been kicking myself since Black Friday, as I set my wife up on two machines and myself on two machines to pick up the Thrive 8GB for $199.
She managed to get one, but for me, it stalled when loading the CC page, hung and eventually let me buy it, only to see an out of stock email about 15 minutes later...
I'm trying to see how many thrives were out there? Looked on fatwallet and the ultra secret black friday sale thread jokingly said there were only 5. If so, I don't feel so bad

I didnt get that one...but did manage to get a Toshiba Thrive 8gb for my son for Christmas ...Black Friday at Best buy. But it was 279.00. I was kind of disappointed at the 8gb...but I felt the price was decent. I bought one for myself too!
I too missed out on the NewEgg deal, but picked one up from amazon for the same price around 5pm on BF.
Hopefully there are more of us on here.

Unfortunately I didnt. I too bought it from best buy. I was able to nab one when the workers told me that they didnt have any asus and for awhile said they had no thrives. Makes me believe they hid a few for themselves. I dont need 8gb and love the full hdmi and usb. I just use it for a media center and browsing online with some other apps. All in all i love it.

I've got one of the Newegg 8gb models. I had my eye on the Thrive for a while - so when doing Black Friday stuff I saw it go up on fatwallet - I camped out in front of the PC for it.
Basically I made sure my newegg account was logged in, made sure my shipping/CC info was ready to go, and got ready. It was basically click-click-click-click-stupid Mastercard verification-click.
I have gone from Nook Color to Nook Tablet and now want the larger screen of the HD+. My previous devices have all been refurbs directly through the B&N ebay site and have never had a problem. It seems like most of the local stores don't seem to have the HD+ in stock any more so I'm wondering if there are going to be any good deals for a brand new unit for Black Friday. Should I just go with one of the ebay sites selling refurbs for around $115 now, or wait to see if I can get a new one during Black Friday? Does anyone know if B&N ever sells the refurbs any more or do they just have other sites doing it now? I felt a lot better getting it directly through them before.

You can do what I did- Staples lowered the 16 gig price to 129; I called them up about 3-4 time till one of their customer service reps applied a $20 off coupon manually (it technically probably shouldn't have been applied). Got my brand new 16gb for $117 including tax and shipping. Having a little trouble getting it to run as smooth as I like, but once I work all the little kinks out I believe it will be one of the best deals I've ever gotten. I wanted to try waiting till black Friday, but I figured a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Staples does not have them available online and there are no staples in St. Louis (or nearby) for some stupid reason. Best Buy seems to be out of the 16GB. B&N retail stores have them, but I doubt they would price match Staples since they are not available. I just ordered some screen protectors so that when I do order one, I can stick one as soon as I open it. Hopefully the Black Friday ads start showing up so I can see if there is going to be any deals. I'm almost ready to just pull the trigger on one of the Ebay refurbs.

Ahh that sucks they dont have them anymore. Wish this thread would have been up even two days earlier, just friday I sent back a $99 refurb That I had ordered right before I had caught the staples deal.
But either way, depending on what your using it for, this can be a great tablet. Even though its a little older and not pushing as many pixels, I have found that my touchpad was running a little bit smoother than this. But I think as more builds come out, and people keep tweaking etc. this is going to be a really really solid tablet.:laugh:
Has anyone else seen any good deals on a new HD+ from a local store (B&N, Bestbuy, Target, Walmart, etc)? I'm hoping I'll be able to order one online through one of these sites on Thanksgiving day (or earlier). I won't be able to go out in all the Black Friday madness.
Only thing I would suggest is to watch those deal sites such as Bens bargains for deals or try craigslist. Good luck.

They come and go at that price. I bought one from beststopdeals for $99 ten days ago. They are higher now.
I would not expect Black Friday to feature any Nooks at fire sale prices. Black Friday specials feature second and third tier merchandise at ridiculous prices, not "pre-owned" skus that have been on clearance for months. Maybe someone (probably B&N) will be selling new units for $129 (again).
Here's how I get the best prices if I'm willing to be patient:
1) set up a search with email notification at stuffalert.com. This free site only searches *bay but you can specify the country, buying format and price, etc.
2) set up an alert at slickdeals.net. I often find very good prices at big box stores like Kmart and Walmart where I don't usually shop.

Right now a local Staples is holding a Nook HD+ for $130 for me. While the local GameStop is selling off the Nexus 7 2012 version for $99. I am unsure which one to get. I talked to the Staples store and they will price match the Nexus 7 from GameStop I know this is a Nook forum but which would you recommend. I like the bigger screen, but am worried about being able to upgrade to KitKat like the Nexus products will be able to do.
I ended up buying a refurb one on Ebay for $115, it arrives tomorrow. I was just out shopping and looked around in sears and they had a new one for $129. Wish I would have stopped by there last week. Their online price shows as $149 and it also says they didn't have them at my local store. If you are interested in a new one, it might be worth stopping by your local Sears to see if they have any for $129.
I just bought a 32gb this morning from staples with a $50 off coupon and the amex $25 off $75. Came out to $115 so I'm really excited! I saw one of them on display at target and thought they look great! I was ready to get one from ebay refurbished too so am really glad I didnt. The 7 inch tablets are too small (have 1st gen kindle) and tried an Asus 10 inches that was too big so this is middle ground.

target nook hd 79 on black fri but go to your local walmart they will price match and you will not have to wait in line at target also you can buy the warranty at walmart and they will give you a gift card if it breaks not you having to send it in and them fix it. its a gift card for the full purchase price and the warranty is 2 years for 9 dollars well worth it. already had to use it once

"We have received your payment on Mar. 28, and we will check the available time with Taiwan ASUS and update you soon, and we will provide tracking number after shipment. Please kindly note. Have a nice day."
I contacted eBay after that and they are taking action against his listing since in their words "he is luring people in to buying an item he doesn't have, without stating it's a preorder and that he doesn't actually have the item".
Just wanted to give a heads up since I'm now at the mercy of either getting a refund from the seller or waiting until the 7th for buyer protection to kick in.
You might want to ask sellers if they actually have the item in stock, it's not guaranteed that they will answer truthfully, but these guys are taking people's money and sitting on it until Asus Taiwan has stock available. Who knows how long that could be in all honesty.

I didn't think you were but some people might. I was hoping I'd have it within two days like every one else but that's not the case I guess. I can't wait weeks to get a phone unfortunately. I'm thinking that some of the other sellers don't have supply either, that's why they're putting the delivery date so far out. They're hoping people will buy expecting delivery in mid April and that gives them enough time to wait for more stock from Asus.

Today, they are dropping it in France. My delivery date was April 1-3. Was surprised at how quickly it got here.

There are some sellers with the delivery date as Apr. 10th-Apr. 21st. Which gives plenty of time for them to wait on new stock while you're waiting for the end of April to get it.

That really sucks. I will tell u this: phone is solid. Only disappointment is the battery cover. Feels like cheap plastic simulating a metal brush finish. Looks like it may break when prying apart to insert sim card and SD. Really glad I got a case for it.

Yeah I've been super stoked to get it since I saw it, sold my OPO and a Note 3, bought my son a Moto G 2014 and myself the ZF2, but now I have to use my son's phone since the ZF2 isn't coming.

I contacted eBay after that and they are taking action against his listing since in their words "he is luring people in to buying an item he doesn't have, without stating it's a preorder and that he doesn't actually have the item".
Just wanted to give a heads up since I'm now at the mercy of either getting a refund from the seller or waiting until the 7th for buyer protection to kick in.
You might want to ask sellers if they actually have the item in stock, it's not guaranteed that they will answer truthfully, but these guys are taking people's money and sitting on it until Asus Taiwan has stock available. Who knows how long that could be in all honesty.

I have another warning: Don't buy from OE USA (advertising on Amazon) either. They're selling an entry level ZE500CL as ZE551ML as they specified the phone. Luckily Amazon has good customer protection but you may face a lot of troubles buying totally false phone.

I guess I learned my lesson well. I'm returning cheap entry level phone which was sold on Amazon as a ZE551ML. At least partially you can blame all mess on Asus, which would never provided clear specs of variety of models around.
Now I'm quite positive that currently you can't buy any other ZE551ML than Taiwanese. And right now Asus has in production European (ww) model which will be on the market in France and Italy at the end of this month (on the web as well). And maybe Chinese model will be selling at the same time too.
Later, probably at the end of May after announcement in the event in New York the US model is coming to the market. And that's pretty all.

Black and white versions of (ZE551ML )are back in stock on ASUS French website. Already have a red one ordered from Darty but wont be sent out until the 10th
On Asus Fr website is nothing on stocs as delivery date is set to 06.05. latest and any shopping is marked as preorder.
Does anyone know of any reliable site where 4G/32GB or 4G/64GB is available in stock? Asus France will ship by 06th May.

Darty has a preorder with shipping date set at 10-4, not sure how reliable they are as i never bough off them before. Reorderd the red one last night

In the process of canceling the darty order although I have to ring them to cancel it. Hope they have some English speaking reps as my French begins and end with Bonjour. No not from UK , hence using www.shopandship.com to ship to my country.
