This might be a weird question to you, but do you have both qwerty and azerty keyboards in Canada ?
If only qwerty, how do you make accents and special french caracters like ùàçèé ?
All these questions because i would be interested in buying one from the US, but I wouldn't a qwerty keyboard.
At first I had planned on getting the slate only in the US and the dock back in France, but it sounds like the dock is going to cost 150€ if we do not take the bundle ...

ive bought a lot of stuff from pccyber, they are a local here in ottawa with 4 stores and 2 in montreal. i've never order anything from their website though. i wouldnt put too much on their release date on their website, i've bought my last two asus eee pc from them and they are horrible for stock and never know when they are suppost to get new shipments of stock. i had to check all 4 locations to find the one i wanted even though their website said it was suppost to be in stock so i don;t have much confidence in their site. i only bought the eee pc from them because they are the only local store that carried them and had a decent price. Also seems fishy that they are the only retailer in canada taking preorders...
anyone know if futureshop will be carrying this? i assume so since best buy is suppost to be carrying it and they own futureshop.
edit: i just noticed they changed the release date again to april 25, thats 3 times now.

French Canadians (i'm one of them) uses Qwerty keyboards. The same layout, with minor differences. And you can often buy "bilingual" keyboards: french and English characters are printed on the keys.

Actually, i haven't checked if the transformer keyboard can be ordered in Canadian Bilingual (refered as fr_ca)

I called both the local PCCyber stores here in Montreal. One guy had no idea when is this coming ("It might come tomorrow and I would not know today") and the other one said it'll come end of next month! When I said but your website says coming April 25, he boldly said "it's wrong".

I'm travelling internationally on the 29th and this would have been the perfect travel companion but I have little to no hope of getting my hands on Asus Transformer
Edit: Although I should mention, 2-3 days ago when I talked one of the Ottawa store reps, he was confident he'll get it on 18th. He even said he knows I'm in Montreal but instead of reserving one for shipping online, if I can come to Ottawa and put my money down, he can give me one on the 18th in store. Amazon.ca is not listing the EEE Pad Transformer at the moment, though I understand it did at one point (and was quickly taken down). So I doubt any release date from their page is reliable.
I'm holding on for the Asus, as the Xoom is (now) overpriced and I don't want to wait anxiously for a software update to unlock the SD Card slot. And I love the keyboard dock too, hopefully it will come out soon after (it's a big part of their marketing after all).

If this ends up happening, I think it is because they do not have enough supply for the US and don't want bad press for not being able to keep up with demand.

While I would love for this to be true, I wouldn't place to much hope on PcCybers preorder page and wait for official news from Asus. It seems to me like they are just fishing for early preorders even though they have no idea when its coming out.

It certainly does seem like even Asus is not sure of when they can launch. It's getting frustrating..

I'm sure Bestbuy will have them in store first like the ep121.
Not interested in the keyboard for $150,
but at $75 maybe, just really dont see much of a need for it.

My guess would be they got a cease and desist

There's a pre-order with no pricing and no release date on expansys.ca. Sounds more like a "we'll notify you once we know something".

That is sort of reassuring. As much as I'd like to pre-order it online, I'd rather do it in-store (same as what I did for the Xoom) so I can be there as soon as they open

I've been keeping an eye on Amazon UK and Play UK for the Galaxy tab, well Play now have a price and release date for the 16GB version ..... are you sitting down?

At that rate it would be better to order from Amazon.de although Amazon UK may announce a price soon? What are the implications of buying a German unit, it is just classed as a European unit, warranty wise etc?

in this regard EU is treated as one so id does not really matter where you buy.
The only difference might be a posting cost.
I have bought stuff from Pixmania (FR) when I was living in the UK with delivery to Poland. (no problems). I have just bought (now being in Poland) Sapphire Xtreme HD 5850 - also no problem.
So... if amazon.de is first to send them away you do not risk anything.
In the past I bought Vaio form Sony Outlet in Holland - fine as well.
Having that in mind... I wonder if Apple isn't breaking the law (EU law) by offering only 12 months of warranty???
As far as I know all manufacturers selling their products in EU are supposed to offer 2 yr. warranty at minimum (no less).
And again on a different note... I am quite grateful for EU being regarded by manufacturers as one country/market. In the past we would wait ages in separate countries for lunch of devices, prices, updates, etc... it is without a doubt better than before we were all completely separate.

I called Play.com and they are looking into it to see if it is a pricing error. They will email me when they know more.
In the mean time, we need to find the best place to get this device in the UK, even if that means ordering from elsewhere in Europe.

I will let you know ass soon as they are available in PL. With Polish Zloty loosing ground because of Greece it might actually work out cheaper for you .
At the moment you are looking at approx. 625 EURO (predicted price, dont know about delivery).

Another issue is, although Samsung will honor warranty in Europe, if the product is faulty when it arrives I will need to send it back to the retailer and they might be abroad. Postage and a language barrier might cause some hassle.

That was my concern with getting stuff from USA (Motorola does not have a worldwide warranty and again - if you buy in USA, you only have 12 months ).
With buy in in EU it is not a problem - buy in Poland, UK, Greece - and you can get it repaired or exchanged through your local representative/service/etc.
It is very nice that it works this way.

Actually I think that was just an automated email as I'd signed up to be notified of availability, it can't be the response to my WTF email re the price on their site.

I have had my "hands on" today with Transformer.
As I treat this as "tablet for a while" I also want to be able to sell it easily in future and loose as little as possible.
SG 10.1 as much as it is sexy is too limited.
My choice will be Transformer 16GB + keyboard dock - and than I will wait for Kal-El or something else (light, with sd slot that plays mkv and other formats and has sexy look and great batt. life) - this will keep me going for a while.
At the moment I am only thinking... buy now (and use netbook as well) or wait till netflix app will show up as it should have a better price by that time... (I hope non of you think it - netflix app - will not show up).

You're most likely right about it being a provisional price, but what happens if a buyer orders it at the over inflated price and it then reduces by say £300, would they get it at the reduced price?
I'm weary of Play, they tried to pull a fast one on me a few months ago.

If I recall correctly Play don't charge your card until the item is ready to post. I've found they are rubbish when emailing, so I just call them and they are fine on the phone.

Yes that's what I did with the Transformer, I do prefer to be able to walk in and get it sorted straight away.

Called up Play.com and now they are looking into the specifications.
It probably didn't help that I got pissed off at the guy because he was giving me generic answers, so when he asked me how I knew their website was wrong I said I work in the IT sector and carry out the necessary research rather than spend all day talking to customers in a monotone and boring voice.

A galaxy tab for a down to earth price...
When the Transformer wasn't widely available, Carphone Warehouse had it. I ordered and it came the next day. I returned it to my local CPW (because of a screen gap), they refunded my card straight away.
Thinking about it though, the Galaxy Tab is expensive compared to the $499 that the US is being charged...so tempted to order it from Amazon.com using viaddress. I haven't used them before, but I'm thinking worst case scenario, I have to pay import duty so that'd put it near the price of Amazon.de - but if it works out, I could get one for about £350. Either way i'd probably get it in a week...

New 10 inch 8 Gig Version

I bought a 10 " inch screen 8 gigabyte version of the A500 Iconia from Best Buy. Seems to be ether a new model or one only made for Best Buy. I haven't gotten it in yet through the mail. I wonder if it will have the same specs as the 16GB model(aside from the memory of course)....and the same quality.

They sell the 8gb version at Costco too. Once the sold out of the 32gb they pulled that in.

As of last week, the 8Gb was 350 at Costco here in the Seattle area. Came with a sort of weak free case.

Congrats on the purchase. I picked one up from Best Buy as well. Now if they'd get around to shipping it, I'd be even happier.
The two things that have been noticed on this one is the lack of mention of GPS anywhere (though many of us are hopeful that it has GPS) and that power indicates 110 whereas all other models indicate 110/220.
Haven't seen anything else yet so now we're all waiting for our units to arrive to begin the fun.

pretty sure they all have GPS. plenty of threads exist with a500 users having wifi only models and using GPS. just make sure to apply all the GPS tweaks
a stock a500 isnt quite as hot as a tweaked out a500. earl reviews of the stock item at the original retail price were just OKAY at best. but if you tweak the little it turns into quite the little tablet.

say what? i have a wifi only version(a500) and it has gps. no tweaks needed. i doubt these 8gb versions have gps. official acer site and best buy have no mention of gps at all.
can anyone that actually has one in hand check? what a total bummer if it didnt.

this is the same a500 model as any of the other a500 models, with only 8gb. every a500 has built-in gps, just like every samsung galaxy tab 10.1 has gps. you dont need to have the 3G (a501) model to have gps.
the acer website doesnt list ANY of the 8/16/32 or 501 models as having GPS at all, so you can't go by that.

The 8gb one I bought at Costco has gps. I'm going to return it though because I decided to get a 32gb one from Tigerdirect for $400. 8gb just wasn't getting it done with Honeycomb's inability to move apps and data to the sdcard like Gingerbread. I was using almost all of the internal memory and I only had 8 of my games installed. Those Gameloft games need a lot of memory.

I got the 32GB one from costco for a similar price, $350 + tax. But if you can get bestbuy's price at $220, it might worth it.

The $229 8gb Acer A500 at Best Buy was a Cyber Monday deal that actually sold out by early Sunday morning. I think I saw "normal" pricing referred to as $380. I was lucky enough to snag one of the Cyber Monday tablets, but even though they say 0-1 day to ship, it is still "in process" and has not shipped yet.

I'm going to assume that means business days. It should be ready to ship today but who knows what the details are. Best Buy may not have them and are awaiting shipment from Acer which would explain why they weren't available immediately for store pickup (which was set at 5-7 days).
Hoping for the best as I'd like to get my hands on this tablet and start playing with it.

From what I've read, it does NOT have a GPS in it. I'll have to find my sources, but if you google the SKU, it's a special, Best-Buy only device (from what I could find).

I ordered Noon-ish on Sunday, and it said "processing, 0-1 days..blah blah" until about noon EST today (tuesday).
Yes, it gave me a tracking number, and the original order (with 2-day shipping) said EXPECTED DELIVERY: Nov 30-Dec 1. UPS shows it as on time, Nov 30 by the end of the day.
EDIT--it does say it shipped on the 28th, even though I didn't get an email or tracking number until mid-day the 29th.

Lucky basterd! I ordered mine on Sunday at around 2:30am. Yeah that early, I don't know why I was still up that late lol. Mine still says order is being fulfilled or something like that so I the order hasn't been processed but it does let me cancel it anymore. The estimated dates I have are earliest Dec. 1 and latest Dec. 8
Yeah the folks over at slickdeals who bought the tab are all arguing on if it has GPS or not and if it has a flash mem or a micro hard drive. HAHA! I can understand the GPS debate, but the other one is just plain stupid.

Gearbest is so shady and I will never use them again, I'd recommend staying far away.
I ordered a Chuwi Vi10 64GB w/ keyboard case on 9/11/15; I had to do the "sketchy" ID verification also, but they took my order and my money.
I received a broken keyboard on 10/2/15 , and over 30 days later, still no tablet.
Now the replacement keyboard is out of stock.
They suggest I find an alternative keyboard to replace it (for a custom keyboard/case made for the tablet, WTF!).
I've re-ordered the tablet & keyboard from banggood.com, got my fingers crossed.
P.S. Techtablets has other user reviews for Gearbest, they pretty much suck!!!

I also suggest to stay away from gearbest.... I cancelled my order because it appeared as "processing" for too many days.
They answered my tickets with delay and always with generic apologies but never gave me a real dispatch date. As I heard there are many people waiting for their redmi note 2 I assume they just don't have enough pieces in stock (despite they show all the phones as available).
I still have another order made on 09/27 yet "processing".
I didn't cancel it only because those are 20$ of accessories for my xiaomi yi and in this case I don't care to wait too long, but still this tells me how efficient they aren't with their business.

Before coming to the forums and reading this, I ordered one from this site (though it was before the sale). So far it has been smooth, as yesterday it shipped. Hoping now that there's a phone somewhere in that package...

I've ordered a Redmi Note 2 16 GB from Gearbest. Took them about a week to dispatch my phone and another week to get it(used a faster cargo choice).
The only issue i have with the phone is bloatware which everyone seems to be having but other than that the phone is stable and fast.

The problem with gearbest and many other sites that never have real stock and needs the money from the orders to buy the phones. In some cases the phones are out of stock from the manufacturer and they have to wait. I made the order for the prime the 19st of september and ships the 4th of october.

Guys try To2c.com for your xiaomi phones i ordered mine on a friday evening and by the next wednesday lunchtime i had my shiny new Redmi Note 2 Prime shipped via dhl and updates all the way through the process.

If you are asking about using cellular in the us I have not seen any reviews on that yet. The bands all look pretty familiar though.
I just went with wifi as I would rarely have a need for cellular on the tablet.

I would get the LTE version since I use it for work. I am concerned with the 4200 mAh battery. That's even less than the S10+ 5G in a much larger package.
I would happily pay $500 for this tablet:
8 inch & built-in S Pen
4:3 or 3:2 aspect ratio
SD835 or better
4GB of RAM
64GB of UFS2.1

Did you recieve your order yet? I ordered the tablet from this site like two wks ago and I still havent got it. They told me they ran out and will restock in 5days so after I emailed them again after 5days but its been delayed for another wk apparently. Im running out of patient/trust so Idk if i should cancel or not. This is the only site that has a good price w/free shipping though

No I cancelled. Can't stand sites that sell things they do not have. I don't think anybody has it right now.

I too placed an order with TobyDeals and have been waiting for 3 weeks. The buying options right now are limited. I haven't seen any listings on eBay, Amazon, or Alibaba. There should be greater availability in the coming months.
My reality is that I am desperate. I've been using a Samsung tablet as my primary phone for the past decade. I was quite happy with my 2015 Tab A 8" until it broke 18 months ago. I've been waiting for the updated version of this tablet for a long time. In the interim, I bought a Tab S3. It was too big to be my daily driver. So I bought a Note 9 and have been using it. But it's too small. I am looking forward to enjoying the new Tab A 8". I know its the perfect size for me.

Anybody received the order yet? I ordered Wifi version sm-p200 from Toby almost two wks ago and it's still in process.
They told me they will restock in 3days, I will wait till Thursday and will resend email.

I've got a similar experience so far.
I ordered from them last Wednesday (5/22). Sent an email (to [email protected]) last night requesting a status on the order.
Got an email reply early this morning stating that they are currently out of stock and "more stock to arrive in the next 3 working days".

Mine just came today. So far so good, only the camera is a little disappointing.

Mine just arrived too!
So that makes it 2 days after their email letting me know that it had been dispatched from their warehouse.
I'm at work right now, so I'll give it a closer inspection once I get home later.

I got mine through a seller on ebay. It seemed sketchy but after confirming his paypal email was correct and matched his little online shop I decided to give it a shot.
Took about a week from Israel, but it did hit new york during memorial day weekend so it sat there for 3 days.
He does have more if anyone wants to try (pm for his contact info), but toby deals is probably cheaper and faster IF they have stock.

So I ordered the SM-P200 from tobydealsau.com on May 22 and it arrived yesterday. Happy it did not take as long as others have reported -- I was a little nervous after I saw what others experienced.
It arrived well packed and the box was well sealed. As far as I can tell it looks brand new and genuine. The box was sealed and the serial numbers on the box and on the device matched.
It came with a European usb power supply, but included an adapter for US.
So far it is working as expected.

How's the performance? I do a lot of split screen with YouTube and Chrome. My concern is that the 3 GB of RAM is not sufficient.

Was looking at buying the 10.1, but it was just too big. Glad I didn't pull the trigger, I would MUCH prefer the 8.0 especially with s-pen. Any guesses if this comes to the US officially?

@KevinN206 I rarely do split screen on mine, so I really don't have any expectations as to the performance in that situation.
But comparing it to my older SM-T380, I can see a noticeable performance upgrade.
