Nokia Lumia 900 $100 credit - Member-Found Deals

Nokia giving $100 credit for everyone who will buy the Lumia 900 by Apr 21st. The credit will be on the AT&T bill which makes it effectively free. Also not sure if it matters where you buy the 900 from, so if you buy from amazon or Walmart you might make some money.

It's a $100 credit with or without a contract. With out contract it will come out to $350 after the $100 credit in your AT&T bill. Decent deal in my opinion.

How much did your G2 cost you?

Wassup guys,
Im very interested in buying a G2, ive been using my HD2 for 3 months now, and have been running android on it. But ive decided its time for a new phone. I am very interested in buying the G2 how much did it cost you out the door? Right now i have $180 so im trying to come up with the rest but im just wondering how much more is it going to cost me. Im due for an upgrade on t-mobile so im updating my line i live in california.
Thanks,
Cali
Really depend on the plan you have. I have even more plus plan with $295 credit available and its gonna cost me $257 and some change when I get it on Wednesday and heard that radio shack has it for 149 with 2year contract, so best to go there for you since you will be upgrading on a contract. I don't have a contract
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G using XDA App
it cost me a hug and a thank you. got it as a present
a kidney and half of a liver... also a quarter of my pay check... also twice of what my wife allows me to spend in a month ><
It cost me $100 in birthday money, $140 for about 2 hours of computer sidework and $7 out of my own pocket.
I live outside the US, so I could only depend on some conscious importers or I will have to take the pricier Desire Z
Suppose the no contract full price in the States is 500, that's reasonable enough for me, just hope the shipping plus markup won 't be extorting
i talked to some guy that worked at tmobile on the phone he told me that it was gonna cost me $250 for the phone w/ a $50 mail in rebate that ill get back in the mail, then $18 for an upgrade fee, and around $40 in sales tax.. so around $300... did anyone pay this ammount? im on a family plan and im upgrading
and i checked radio shacks website and its not even on there lol
149.99 plus tax out the door at radio shack.

The $149 price at Radio Shack is for new contracts only. If you're already an existing T-Mobile customer it's $199.

When T-Mobile's site started taking preorders it was $249 w/ a $50 mail in rebate which was good through 9/30, I believe. So yeah there's some that did pay it.
Cost me $99 + tax. I had to renew a 2 year contract. That's before rebate, so possibly could go down to $49 and tax.

A few over on the Slickdeals forums managed to get it for that price by going through and threatening to cancel first.
I got mine for $149 through tmobile. I called the retention dept over at tmobile and told them i got a flyer stating $100 off any phone upgrade. They did some digging and then told me it can only be applied to existing phones. The rep then said they could offer me a better deal and that's how the $149 came about. And payments are spread over 4 months.

I got it for that price. It was 176 down and 3 or 4 monthly payments of $40. Then a $50 rebate on top of that.
And that's cuz I upgraded to the HD2 in March when it launched, BOGO.
Did the EIP, but it'll cost me 552 total.
Around 500, which is what I'll be paying extra over the course of two years if I switched from the Even More Plus plan to the Even More (if I could even do that, but don't tell me I can't because that'll shatter my dream) as it would $20 extra per month for 2 years ($480).
I paid half my fortune (broke college student, heh). All my savings are gone, time to save up for another 2 years.
It's cool, T-Mobile announced HSPA+ in San Jose today
Not entirely true. Depends on how you do it. If you upgrade, yes, its 199. But with my situation, I just added a new line to my account, and it was 149.00

Buy unlocked or with contract?

Here's my question:
If you buy the Venue Pro unlocked directly from Dell it would cost you 450 (8gb) to 500 (16gb) dollars...
BUT
if you get it in contract ... you would pay
1. Phone price (199$)
2. activation (30)
3. you could then terminate you contract for 200$
=
430$
now I understand that this 430$ vs 450-500$ is not such a big deal, BUT again sometimes, like right now there are promotions on amazon wireless (hd7 for 99 $) or like right now (every att phone for 0.01 $ -yes even the wp7 ones).
Now my question comes to place... Isn't it more profitable to wait for a good promotion like the att one and buy it from there only to terminate the contract (230 $ vs 450 - 500 $). Even with the current promotion (hd7 for 99$) you would save 200$ on the device (330$ vs 530$).
Now I'm thinking that there must be something wrong with this logic, because it's too big a loopwhole for the carriers and everybody could purchase like this. What is wrong with this logic?
shu8i
Some 3rd party retailers will charge you an additional ETF if you cancel your contract that early. Check the contract you sign beforehand otherwise you might end up paying $150-$250 up front plus multiple $200 ETFs which would negate Amy savings and actually cost you more than buying outright.
You will pay a pro-rated first months bill for the service.
Also I tried to go this way, and Microsoft Store is telling me I have to return the phone in order to cancel the service and then I have to buy a no-contract phone from them.
Just buy it off contract and save yourself a real pain in the ass.
I believe the carrier will generally require you to pay the difference between the full retail and discounted price of the device if you terminate the contract early.
So you may pay $0.01 for the phone up front but you'll still be footing the other $449.99 in order to keep the phone after you pay your early termination fees.

Who got there focus for less than $200

$99 - Loyalty discount NM
NM
There is no message.
I paid $212.13 after tax. They did wave $18 upgrade fee.
However, this was my first smartphone. Where I won was them allowing me to reverse grandfather into the $30 unlimited plan. The last update to my data usage was 2457MB as of 6:27pm 11/14/10, 6.5 days after I got it.
I got mine for free, my wife's was 199.
There are only two ways to get the loyalty discount:
1. You paid too much each month (> $100).
or
2. You haven't upgraded for ages ( out of contract for over a year or two).
Either way, it's a chimp change for AT&T to give you a small discount out of the $$$ they made out of you every month
I pay only $95/mo for entire family account of 3 lines and upgrade every single year (can live with any phone for over a year). So, no discount for me. But also means I saved $$$ every year, more than $100 or $200 discount for sure.

Or you have 4 smartphones...and associated data plans to go with them and unlimited messaging.
If I priced out 4 separate individual plans, I'd be paying through the nose. I think $150 for four smartphones with unlimited data (pre cap) and unlimited text/pix/vids etc. along with 2k mins is a pretty good deal

Only the service charge on the primary line counts into loyalty discount. You can pay for 100 lines and your loyalty discount remains the same.

that's true but i'm not even talking about the discount. He's saying that people who pay way too much are the only one's eligible for loyalty discount.
but I'm arguing that I think that 150 for all that i get is a very good deal
I paid $499 and tax. And promptly returned it the next day. I'll wait to see if any holiday sales pop up before thinking about purchasing one again.

Yes, $150 is a good deal for 4 smartphones, but he's also right because you don't qualify for the loyalty discount since you don't pay "too much".
Right now Focus is AT&T store exclusive, as soon as Amazon or Newegg has it, it'll be $100 less at least. Surround was available for free with a new contract at Amazon and it's a damn good phone for free!
I paid $106 for the Focus(haven't upgraded in almost a year) and got the unlimited data for smartphones on AT&T.I used to have the unlimited data for iphone so no change in monthly bill.

Correct. What I refered to was monthly bill, not how much you paid for your phone. It's the monthly bill that matters dollar wise, not the one time phone cost. Assume you pay $30 extra per month than most others, it could add up to $720 extra in 2-year contract and for that you get $100 discount on the phone. No a greatest deal but if you could use all that features you paid for, good for you. But personally I don't see any point of this poll/thread.
i'm curious as to how you got 3 lines with unlimited data/messaging and minutes for 95...?

I didn't say that.
Someone over at Engadget tipped regarding a $100 off holiday coupon for select phones - the Focus was included. I called AT&T customer service and asked them to credit me for the $100 so I didn't have to go through the trouble of returning it to the store and buying it again online just to save. They credited me $105. So I ended up paying $145 for my Focus after tax.
Does that coupon work for the non contract price? A $499 Focus would then be $399?
I don't know. I suggest anyone thinking about the focus. Which is awesome pressure the sales associate for the customer loyalty discount. and then report back here.

It wouldn't shock me. Personally, I've never seen the point in buying phones through Best Buy unless you want their device protection program. It's usually cheaper to just buy it directly from the carrier, either online or in-store.

The price is $799, I ordered mine off best buys website. My total price was just a little over $900 with expedited shipping. They are supposed to price match Amazon's price at $720 when I get the phone. Then I will get my $200 gift card for my trade in when I go into the store. Long story but last Monday they couldn't take pre-orders for Sprint so I had to order online, the manager told me to come back in with my trade in to get my gift card after I received the phone.

Why on earth would you pay $900 for a Note 4? If you wait like a day after the release date you'd see some on ebay for probably $500 where people paid the $300 & renewed their contract just to flip it and make $200 cash.
Hell, even if you setup a new line, paid $299.99 for the phone under a new 2 year contract then canceled the line and paid a $350 ETF, that's still $650 instead of $900.
My note 4 is arriving tomorrow and it's free. Samsung is giving me $200 for a trade in and Sprint is giving me $150 for changing to them from Verizon. Contract price $299.99 = me making $50.

That's what I had to pay up front since best buy told me they were out of pre-orders. Once I get the phone I'm supposed to take it to my local store and they will price match Amazon at $720 then I'll get a $200 gift card to make my total $520. I don't do contacts anymore with cell phone providers. I prefer to buy my phones out right and new. I've been burnt on eBay and craigslist!
You are the only person I've heard of that has said anything about buying a note 4 off contract and getting the 200 go. Everywhere else has said it has to be on a contract agreement, via contract or easy pay.

I don't know who "everywhere else" is but my local best buy store and the best buy mobile post purchase support line have confirmed to me that it is available if you buy the phone outright. I guess I won't find out for sure until I this weekend (I'm out of town). If for some reason I don't get the gc, the price is just not worth it to me. I'll return it and get the nexus 6, which I may do anyway.

I will confirm or deny this. I will keep you posted.
I just came from BestBuy and the $200 incentive is a gift card that you get when you buy a Note 4 + bring a working phone to tradein and either put it on an existing line or a new line. The giftcard can be used in any transaction you want like toward the note4 transaction a new TV, Laptop, etc..
Something i forgot to ask is if BB will match Amazone outright price????...... i heard that BB only match "with contract price" ...if some can let me know i will apreciated!!!
Thanks!!
note; the only situation that the gift-card can't be use toward is when choosing SPRINT EASY PAY.... the reason as to why is long and confusing... sorry!!!

[Q] Expected Price Drop?

I really want to get the Note 4 but the price is too high for me at the moment, the current price is $299.99 pretty much everywhere. Best Buy has been dropping it to $249.99 but I still find it a bit high. I'm with AT&T and they usually are slow with deals. How long do you think the wait will be for a set price of $249.99? Not that I want to pay that, but I'd expect some store to go to $199.99 for at least a few days. It's not that I don't have the money to pay for the phone, it's just that I don't want to pay that much for it.
I'll be keeping my phone for 2 years, so I want to buy it at a reasonable price for me not to feel bad of when I purchased it... I bought the Galaxy S3 two years ago and about a month later the S4 was announced and the S3 price was dropped and I could have gotten the S4.
Any input?
299.99$ and you're still complaining? It's two and a half times cheaper than in Europe!!!
$299.99 for a 2 year contract, I think you're talking about the phone unlocked.
That's right. But in your OP there's no single word about contract.
youre going to spend $1400 over the life of the contract for the phone and youre cribbing about $50 ? really ?
Just buy it for $900 like the rest of us and save yourself $500.

He's talking about the price of your contracted plan per month compared to what other providers might have. Let's assume you are paying $80 for your service....while same service can be had for $50 elsewhere... you are paying $30 more a month x 24 = $720 + the $300 you spend initially + tax.
It's theoretical... no one knows what you're paying monthly on contract.
I was paying $250 for 6 lines on AT&T... that was my contract price... I could upgrade all 6 lines on contract and get phones etc.
I switched to T-mobile and pay $120 a month. The savings was substantial and not every line need a smartphone or an upgrade. I can get new phones on installment and pay $0 down. and still cost would be less than AT&T.
It's different for everyone. You might have a cheap grandfathered plan..who knows.

He mentioned a "huge markup" on the phone. That was what I read and he said. Of course we have to pay for our service, for me, I am in a family plan with no actual contract for our service.
I was simply wondering about the price of a 2 year contract on the Note 4, I figured the $299.99 price would be more than a hint that I am interested in contract prices.
Now I have no choice though. Just this morning I was in the restroom and as soon as I was about to do #1, I got a notification and picked up my phone and dropped it in the bowl, luckily it was "clean" water but now I have no sound on my phone, can't watch Youtube videos, can't use the camera and there is a red light that literally doesn't go away, even if the phone is off... Trying the rice method but don't think it'll work.
Note 4 here I come I guess.
do you seriously think youre going to get a $900 phone for $300 without getting into a plan with substantial markup over 2 years ?
they are going to loan you the $600 at 50% interest for 2 years. then youre going to pay for the voice/data/network access on top of that.

I'm done. I don't believe you understand how it works here or you might not get what I am saying.
I found out that Best Buy has a price adjustment policy so I'll take advantage of that, I'll be getting it next week and hopefully the price drops for a day or so, if not, oh well.
$299.99 plus tax, that's it, for the phone.
its simple arithmetic. they arent going to sell you a $900 phone for $300.
you pay every month for the cost of the phone with markup and you pay for the plan on top of that. not sure what else is there to understand. at&t is a business like any other carrier. they arent in it for charity. just because they bake it into other places on your bill like access charges doesnt mean the phone only costs $300.
I guess it'll work just like it does here. You simply pay the cost of the phone (£0.00 in the UK), then you pay the rest with your monthly payment to the carrier (The actual minutes /texts /data are irrelevant as they have to provide them and 99% of companies offer unlimited everything now anyway barring data).
No

In the US, regardless of whether your phone is unlocked or on contract, the amount you pay for a phone/text/data plan is the same.
Plans have just been recently introduced (AT&T Next, Verizon Edge, etc) where you owe nothing up front for the device and pay extra on your monthly payment to pay for the phone, but you wind up paying more in the long run than you would have if you'd just shelled out the cash up front for a 2-year plan.
Cell phones are subsidized here if you lock into a 2-year mobile contract and pay anywhere from $50-$400 up front depending on the phone.
OP, along with me, just cares about when the expected price drop will be. Was anyone around or paying attention when, approximately, the Note 3 dropped in price for those in contract? Instead of talking about how awesome off-contract is or correcting the poor fella, a proper response would be, "Yeah, man, I recall after the Mobile World Congress last year, the Note 3 dropped to $200 on-contract." Or, "The Note 3 is still $300, give it up, it will never go down."
I'm an unhappy AT&T S5 (grandfathered "unlimited" data plan) owner and am going off-contract once this one is up. My girlfriend wants the Note 4 and her grandma pays her cell phone bill so all we care about is the up-front cost. She is eligible to get a new phone in a month and we'd like to plan around that. Many of you fine folks are ridiculously resourceful and your prior experience can help us plan around that.
