Is 45.0.2310.en.GB worth it? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
the last few days my Defy has been nagging me about updating to 45.0.2310.en.GB
is this the one that you cant root?
and is the update worth it?
Thanks

With that rom, there will be no way to root or to downgrade (or to downgrade to a rom that is rootable)

I pressed download by mistake :S

i couldn't cancel it
so i shut down the phone
and when i turn it back on it resumes it instead of stopping
is there way way to stop it?

Hi,
It should ask you if you want to install it once it has downloaded. Just say no to that.
Simples.

[Q] Does anyone know what this means?

And how to fix it!?
Basically for the last two days I have been trying to root my phone unsuccessfully. The problem is with the hboot driver and it not working. The first time i installed the driver it seemed to go fine, but after plugging my Wildfire into the usb I got a new hardware message and it was trying to find "ADB"..
Anyways unrevoked obviously did not find my phone so today I have uninstalled the driver and tried to update it again. At first it seemed to be going well, but then it asked for winusbcoinstaller.dll from disc.. I tried to link a picture but because of my low post count I cant.
Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?
Many thanks in advance and sorry if its in the wrong section.

Yes, you are. The downgrade guide is valid only for the CN Froyo Release, which had a HBOOT version 0.83

Downgrading advice (2.37) i want to get rid of pre-installed apps.

Hi,
I have seen this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152233
It's a very interesting.
Basicaly i have a HTC Desire HD on Orange. Orange put like 10 - 15 stupid apps on there that cant be deleted. If i followed the down grading guide could i then un-install the orange apps pre-loaded on the stock rom and then re-upgrade to 2.3.3?
I'm quite nervous to risk my phone when i am not 100% sure of what i am doing....
If there is another way to uninstall locked apps on 2.37 without downgrading that would be great.
Any advice is appreciated.
Kind Regards
Chris

??? I'm asking for help and you respond with thanks? lol im confused.... Did i post in the wrong section or something?
I'm sorry,
i wrong session.
I rooted DHD any shiprom. You don't need to downgrade 1.32 . I will post GUIDE later...
You don't need to downgrade. What I would do (not sure if it's the easiest way but probably is) is root, then install Titanium Backup. You can uninstall and freeze (similar to uninstall) system apps with TB.
EDIT: Actually, you might have to downgrade if you want to root, since you're on 2.37. Not sure, though, haven't used official ROM's for a while.

Capturing

So when Verizon actually pushes out the Kit Kat upate for the VS980. Can one go about capturing the file without actually updating?

well to grab the file you have to be rooted to access the folder it downloads into but if it's anything like the att update it forces the update upon you after you ignore 2 or 3 times, so in other words it should be possible to capture it

I am rooted and on a ROM so that is not a problem. I would think I would have to go back to the LG rom to do this though? So after I captutre it I should remove the file from the phone? or just reflash before it has a chance to force itself on me? That is what I am taking away from your answer. Thanks for the reply

The easiest way to update is by flashing the factory images for the latest build, you don't lose any data doing so as you don't need to wipe. I have detailed instructions in section 10 of my guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
You'll just need to root again afterwards.

You're in the wrong place, you need to ask in the section for your device.

New T-Mobile Update Root?

So I understand that there is a new update out and I'm wanting to upgrade to it. I'm currently rooted and have xposed installed. I was wondering if I will keep root and not have to wipe my device.
If I have to re-root it, could someone please show me the steps to take? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Yes, to upgrade to the newest firmware you will lose root and more then likely have to fully wipe your phone, just make sure you back everything up. The root method is the same as when you 1st rooted your phone, but I will leave you a link to the root thread. Always try to search for the answer's before asking question's. Hope this helps you out buddy Click here

Hey bud I hope I caught you before you took the update. I would read the stock rom thread for that update. Something about not updating the bootloader . I have not taken the update as of yet so I dont know about it but here is the thread for it. You might want to ask in there before updating.
