[Q] how to get rid of TouchWiz ... - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

so now that I am rooted ... how do I get rid of TW?
I am a bit reluctant to just delete .apk's just to find out I needed THIS special one to boot
So, do you "fine folks, sirs and scholars" here on the board, think we can come up with a - somewhat - comprehensive list of .apk's that can be deleted without any problems?
I was thinking along this line:
- Aurora.apk -------> live wallpapaper "aurora" -------> SAVE (to delete)
- Bluesea.apk -------> live wallpapaper "bluesea" -------> SAVE (to delete)
- Bluetooth.apk -------> bluetooth application -------> NOT SAVE (to delete)
- etc ...
well, those were the more obvious ones ... but how about the others that are not that self explanatory but which can be deleted to have a streamlined and faster 7.7?
many thx in advance for your time and effort,
Al

Here is a spreadsheet for the SGS2. May help you get started with various apps and info, yes i know not 7.7 but a place to start anyway
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html
Edit: to answer your initial question. You can remove TW if you have an alternative launcher installed. But you can still keep TW and have your alternative set as default launcher.

thx,
Excellent information, indeed
Most appreciated

You need to understand that TW is more than just a collection of apps and the home launcher. It is embedded into the entire system framework; you cannot simply "delete" it. The only way to not have TW is to not be running a stock ROM , or any ROM based off of stock. Basically you need to flash an AOSP ROM like Cyanogenmod to truly get rid of TW.

[Q] How Shall I deodex Milestone 2?

Hi all,
Recently I got the official Chinese ROM for Milestone 2, which comes with stock MKV+RMVB support, correctly-ordered Chinese contacts and call recorder. However, the Chinese ROM has no moto blur support for facebook & twitter, so I'm trying to port these things to my phone running UK ROM.
The media support seems harder to me, so I start with apps. AFAIK, odex+apk system apps cannot be substituted directly, and they should be deodexed. But when using baksmali how can I get the dependency of those odex? Shall I do manual/brutal search?
Edit:
I tried dsixda's linux kitchen, which successfully handles most of the odex files by brutal search, however, it fails to locate com/android/internal/policy/impl/LockScreen, how can I dig into this?
I have little experience in rom hacking so any help would greatly appreciated
found out the answer myself - when invoke baksmaili the order of files in BOOTCLASSPATH matters.
Now I got all files in /system/framework deodexed, and I think I could do /system/app without problem now

can you help me~?
Can I ask where you got the ROM without the MotoBlur etc? I got my MS2 in China and want to use Chinese with an English OS, and also want to get rid of the whole MotoBlur thing and use the real AndroidMarket. Sounds like your custom ROM can do just that.

[Q] Install proprietary apk on others ROMs ?

My problem : I'd like to install the Browser.apk (really, really !! smoother than Opera Mini, even with flash ON) and HTC_IME.apk (no arrows, biggers letters) from MyTouch 4G ROM to Incredible S ROM.
I searched and founded that it was related to the proprietary framework. Is there any way to modify them ?
Thanks,
Files need to be deodexed. Use search function for more information/instructions.
Thanks, it works for the HTC_IME.apk
Thanks Meter +1.
Unfortunatly, Browser.apk have FC when launching. Here's the crashlog.
The most important was the keyboard, so, thanks again.
You're moving HTC apps to a device that (according to the crash logs) doesn't run Sense UI. Without Sense and the frameworks that support it you can't run any application built for it. Your best bet would be to find someone who's hacked together a Sense ROM for your phone (but this is easier said than done).

to delete those, use a file browser that has access to root, i prefer root explorer, but you can use es file explorer for free, and enable root in settings
or you can use titanium backup, but it doesn't display the names like that.
deleting those will surely increase your internal memory and ram and system rom memory
Press thanks if it helped

Welcome
And this apply also with custom rom like Viper Xperia v5.0?
No, because custom ROMs usually remove a lot of bloatware. This only applies on stock ICS rom
Is it really safe to remove livewaremanager.apk (live ware manager) ?
It seems to be a running all the time. What exactly does it do?

using live ware manager, you can specify what do you want your phone to do when charging/headphones/etc...
it is totally safe to remove if you don't want this useless feature
nice
thanx a lot:good:
I think Stk.apk (sim toolkit) is important.Especially here in the Philippines.Where you can check the current balance of prepaid network and other services of your network provider.

Well we will use this as discussion thread ,soon I will make an update ,where we will have more space and timescape removed .
Thanks Vasishta,
Here are some of my suggestions, if you can able to incorporate in to new update. I am eagerly waiting for an update.
- xLoud integration. This ROM has very low call / speaker volume. xLoud really helps just like in X10S. Please include this mod.
- Bravia - optional.
- More system space - no need of email2, exchange2, facebook integration, stock browser, notes, redundant versions of notes/clocks/voice... etc.
- Newer version of xperia home.
- signed lite gapps - for google now. (or) updated gapps to include google now.
Also, there is one NAND backup file available in XDA based on X10Z ROM. It says, it includes xloud, bravia and also supports full hd games.
I am yet to download and try this.

Hi!
Hello! Thank you! I use actively the ROM, works fine. I've tried a lot, and so far it runs the most stable. Seeking extending the battery life yet, because could be longer. Has no more than 14 hours to 1 hour internet usage, but it may be that the average number of half-read it. Sorry for the bad language use, is not my native language.

Thanks for a wonderful JB rom. I flashed your small apps package. But it doesnt seem to be working fine.. I can launch small apps by opening the slauncher app from app drawer... but if I long press the home button.. i dont see any small apps popping up.. is there anything missing.. like any small apps mod that needs to be installed or something, coz when i press the informations button in the slauncher it says the launcher is just an app and we need to install the SSmallAppX mod to get going... Plz guide me on this

- Try Nova launcher instead of Xperia Home.
- Remove all unnecessary system applications like facebook integration, email, exchange, notes... etc to make atleast 50MB space in system memory.
- Keep atleast 90MB free in internal memory. move all other apps to SD card.
- Try Game Booster applciation to toggle to gaming mode.

Great work from vashista..
Hi !
Thanks for your ROM, I have used it for a couple of week now and it is the best one I tried, but there are some things that are a little bit annoying:
The equalizer in walkman doesn't work.
Your Rom is smooth and fast but not as zahid5h's ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212260 Could you be able to make it faster?
The Camcorder that you know, but will you port the camera from the Xperia Z?
I will try now your new beta rom.
Thank you for your work and I hope you will continue in that way :fingers-crossed:
Somebody can help me to install the ROM please ???
thx
i've tried to install custom ROM yesterday,and i have error ( status 7 )
maybe i have use tutor how to remove in file folder META-INF - com - google - android - update script
Thanks mate if you could me to learn me.
sorry i am noob and for my bad english
You have to flash the rom in the recovery, you also flash the gapps.
Then you reboot your phone and let it setup.
When you have set your phone, you flash the addon.
Check - XPERIA X10 Android Development - New Release Uses Fera kernel -XPERIA X10Z-10.1.A.1.434 - FINAL STABLE RELEASE(1/5/13)[cm10]
Thanks for the new release but when I launch Walkman. It tells me that "L'application "Appareils" s'est arrêté", in English it can be something like "The application "Devices" stopped". And it is not like yours on your screenshots.
The app Note does not work either.
What kind of video file can we read (mp4, avi, ...)?
I don't manage to make small apps work.
It's the things I know they don't work until now, maybe I'll find some others.
Thanks for all the other things that work.
Thanks for your great work, the rom is smooth, fast and stable.

This is because the system partition is small and not all the ADDON package files are being flashed
the data partition is 465mb and the system partition is 352mb, logically they should be the other way around.
hopefully someone will post a solution

remove integrated 3minit stuff

hello,
sorry but i have to post it here, if someone can/want to move to development that would be better...
(i lost my old account and can't write there with this new one)
this is how i removed 3minit apps from civato's flexkat rom v6.4
3minit battery settings:
-choose the stoch icon (or whatever you want) then remove the app with titanium
3minit quicklaunch settings:
-install the app, then remove the panel from settings, finally uninstall
hope this can help ppl who hated that stuff like me
@civato's i love your rom
Yes i hate it to, but i dont understand your guide its to incomlpete to me, could you please correct your english?
