My problem : I'd like to install the Browser.apk (really, really !! smoother than Opera Mini, even with flash ON) and HTC_IME.apk (no arrows, biggers letters) from MyTouch 4G ROM to Incredible S ROM.
I searched and founded that it was related to the proprietary framework. Is there any way to modify them ?
Thanks,
Files need to be deodexed. Use search function for more information/instructions.
Thanks, it works for the HTC_IME.apk
Thanks Meter +1.
Unfortunatly, Browser.apk have FC when launching. Here's the crashlog.
The most important was the keyboard, so, thanks again.
You're moving HTC apps to a device that (according to the crash logs) doesn't run Sense UI. Without Sense and the frameworks that support it you can't run any application built for it. Your best bet would be to find someone who's hacked together a Sense ROM for your phone (but this is easier said than done).

These are really the things I need from the Desire ROM. Has anyone tried this or does anyone know how I'd go about trying? Is it a matter of just copying apks and putting them in /system/app?
no...your best bet would be to disable sense on a desire rom and run a stock looking rom with all those things
(the HTC_IME is easily found right here on this board, even a modified version of it that is far more functional.)
I'm running a very fast/stable eclair ROM on my 32B magic, but it does not have the microphone in the text input for speech-to-text. Is there anything I can install that will add that, or do I need to find a new ROM to flash that has it in there,
And if so, does anyone know of a good, fast 32B eclair ROM with working speech to text (as well as LWPs, tethering, and overall stable 2.1)?
Yes you can add it. Search for it on market.
Depending on country it may not be there, in which case you can download an apk.
I'm running Kingklicks aosp eclair, which you can find at the g1 forum. Voice search was broken and I had to install it with root explorer.
Apk here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6151841#post6151841
Kingklicks aosp has teathering, most stuff works, but I've had some issues playing and recording video.
thanks my man.
does this automatically add the mic icon to your keyboard as well?
Hi guys.
Has anyone tried or HAS a working ROM for Mini using WM 6.5.5 Latest Build and w/o HTC Sense?
I am trying to find a working cooked ROM if not then I'll make one myself and post it.
I just need to know if there are stock ROMs that'll work for mini.
Here's what I'm looking for:
1. Windows Mobile 6.5.5 latest possible WORKING and STABLE build
2. List of HTC pre-installed software that can be removed
3. Essential software that need to be installed in the Mini (just to make it work)
Thanks.
Use rom kichen alpha provided in this thread to find essential soft to run hd mini, also yuo can find all preinstalled soft there too. Just download Shipped rom, extract, use kitchen to modify it. Simple like 1.2.3
Most of people doesn't use copilot & google maps software. I don't like Manilla's Footprints & Stock pages, maeybe some business people use it, but i don't. And i think is not so big group off business people, who flashes their phones
Yeah... but the problem is that HTC totally removed tmail.exe in their ROM. What I'm looking for is a ROM that's untouched by HTC but'll work for the Mini. Somehow, I find the stock Message soft from MS is more convenient since it also support threaded messages.
HTC has so much to the OS that it has officially screwed it up and making it hog almost 60% of the resources of the phone. I'm going to build a ROM that'll be free for anyone to customize from scratch without the fear that it's not compatible with the Mini.

If you have not already I suggest you check our Chef Central Forum ...there is a TON of info there and also some very helpful people...I hope you are able to complete this project we could use more ROMS for the Mini...
So ive been looking and asking around about the bluetooth voice dialing thats supposed to be included in froyo builds and found something out, it seems that builds of froyo that came from htc had this apk ripped out for some reason, unlike builds leaked from google that had it and since it seems that the chefs here use builds of froyo from htc none of them had it..
so i did some digging and found the apk.. its an unsigned system apk and must either be pushed to a non squashed system/app folder or cooked in.
View attachment VoiceDialer.apk
this is the latest version from what i can tell/find.
(sorry if this might not be the best place to post this, but i thought it would be the most noticeable for the chefs)
just got this working on mdeejays froyo revolution 2.3.. it seems that due to permissions needed it has to be either cooked in or pushed to the system/app/ folder, it works with that build due to it being unsquashed, so yes, this works perfectly.
and big tip, change the language under settings/voice input & output/voice recognizer settings/ to your correct locale, it helps alot.
Hi all,
Recently I got the official Chinese ROM for Milestone 2, which comes with stock MKV+RMVB support, correctly-ordered Chinese contacts and call recorder. However, the Chinese ROM has no moto blur support for facebook & twitter, so I'm trying to port these things to my phone running UK ROM.
The media support seems harder to me, so I start with apps. AFAIK, odex+apk system apps cannot be substituted directly, and they should be deodexed. But when using baksmali how can I get the dependency of those odex? Shall I do manual/brutal search?
Edit:
I tried dsixda's linux kitchen, which successfully handles most of the odex files by brutal search, however, it fails to locate com/android/internal/policy/impl/LockScreen, how can I dig into this?
I have little experience in rom hacking so any help would greatly appreciated
found out the answer myself - when invoke baksmaili the order of files in BOOTCLASSPATH matters.
Now I got all files in /system/framework deodexed, and I think I could do /system/app without problem now

can you help me~?
Can I ask where you got the ROM without the MotoBlur etc? I got my MS2 in China and want to use Chinese with an English OS, and also want to get rid of the whole MotoBlur thing and use the real AndroidMarket. Sounds like your custom ROM can do just that.
