When listening via built-in speakers (US TF101), it sounds like 1/3 of the original volume I had before the upgrade. Maxed out the sliders in settings etc, to no avail. Tried "Equalizer" app, no cigar either.
Is Asus aware of this issue ? A real bummer.
Same problem here. To boost the sound a bit I use PowerAmp's equalizer function. But that's not a good solution, want my sound back!
Use dspmanager if you're rooted. It amplifies the sound dramatically
i had the same problem, sound was noticeably lower and a factory reset after upgrading didn't work either.
however, the next patch they released, along with another factory reset sorted out the problem for me. have you installed the latest patch?
if you have the *17 FOTA the sound should be as it was on HC.

You can set speaker, headset and bluetooth headset independently with dspmanager
I am on whatever the latest FW is (I think 0317). I didn't do any factory reset or likes, not looking forward to having to reinstall 20 or so apps that I have.
I can not believe there is not an official apology from ASUS and/or a patch to fix our issues (constant reboots and this volume issue).
I've been an ASUS man for a while: a half-dozen mobos (including X79 Pro), 2 TF101 .... feels really bad to be treated like this

Use the app backup tool that asus provides (and backup any photos, files + the app backup file if you are not using a micro sd card).
Doesn't take long and worth the effort if it works, and if not, you've only lost 20 min of your time - quicker than it took me to write this post cos my tablet rebooted twice in the process

If you install the dspmanager.apk file to your /system/app/ folder manually, you have to set the user permission of this file to read and write. And group and other permissions to read only.
You can use es file explorer for setting the permissions. Navigate to /system/app/ folder, then find dspmanager.apk and long tap the file to open menu and select properties. Tap change and check the boxes as i said. But you have to enable root explorer and mount file system checkboxes under the settings of es file explorer.
Looks like is 4.0.4 is imminent and fixes some of the issues we've had since the ICS, will wait for that

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but does anyone know a way to change the sound the keyboard sound for typing? I hate the vibrate so I turned it off but I also hate the sound it makes so I turned that off too. I want it to make a soft pop noise similar to the iPhone. I searched but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance.

Running into the same 'problem' and found that the sounds used are in the /system/media/audio/ui folder. But I can't replace them ...
Should I get passed that as well then I'll let you know.

Do you have root access? If not then you need that first. You can get that with this little app...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953&highlight=z4root
Then, I'd recommend using RootExplorer (free, on the Market) for pasting the new audio file.
Hope this helps
That worked, thanks for the tip!

Just tried it a bit. I'm on Fresh 3.2. It used to not even connect, just say "Aquiring Data Connection"
With this update it plays and doesn't loop, but it sure does jump and skip quite a bit. Guess it's a start....
Only Froyo ROM I've ever gotten SXM to work right on is CM6 - which I don't wanna go back to.
Nice thanks for the update. I guess signing up on their webpage for an update email was pointless.

Please tell me what you did to stagefright. I know Flipz made some changes to it but I don't know how to undo them. In my build.prop the player is enabled and it still skips a lot.
Thanks!!
I am using Fresh 3.2 and the new SiriusXM app is working fine for me. I'd say about 3 skips every hour or so. I actually only use this for Bloomberg and CNBC - I much prefer slacker and pandora for music, so a couple of skips is no big deal for me.
What I desperately can't figure out is how to record a live stream off the sound card (for lack of a better term). All recording apps seem to use the microphone only. Any ideas so that I can listen to specific CNBC shows like Kudlow on my ride home?

Just extract the stagefright files from your original rar file and then ad push or copy and paste with Root explorer into the system/lib folder overwriting the files that are there now
Then replace the build.prop with the one from your original rom rar file as well.
I WIll try and attached them here for you.... what rom are you running

Is anybody having issues with SXM 1.1 and connecting in the past couple of days? Its worked flawlessly for me since the update, and I've been happy with it again. However, now, on startup, the application hangs on "Checking for Updates".
Tried clearing data, uninstall/reinstall, and hard reset fresh install. All no dice.
Anybody else having issues?
Being a noob I am not allowed to post on the development forums...........
last night I upped my Galaxy Tab (Thai ROM) to Gengerbread 2.3.6 and Acudroid V3 ICS Themed.
1st I would like to comment about the instructions and the process:
My Tab is an important work tool for me - and I was a bit worried about bricking it and taking days to recover... BUT - I followed the instructions of Acubens - and where pointed to teamovercome.net kept following their instructions to the letter, and happily after a couple of hours my Tab was running 2.3.3 with teamover's ROM and later 2.3.6 with the Acudroid V3 ROM.
Restoring apps + data was fast and easy using Titanium and very soon I had my phone up and running just like I want it
As far as I can tell so far - seems everything is working fine - phone calls, sms, camera, email, GPS, wifi, GPRS, sounds and notofocations. As I didn't see and speed improvement I downloaded and installed no-frills CPU and overclocked the CPU to 1.2GHz - and now the Tab is FLYING.......
Now that I've done the up and ROM change - I hope to see more new ROMs for the TAB

So far 2 small issues I came accross -
1. Some notification sounds are not right - i had chrome2phone app and instead of just a short bip like it used to be - it was a non stop bipping for about 15 minutes. I removed the app and try to re-install only I can install it now for some reson. I installed for now the "browser 2 droid" instead, but the notification sound is the same 15 minutes non stop bipping...
Don't get sound notifications for "what's up", and on Gtasks. Probably some other apps that I didn't notice so far.
2. On some of the menus the text under the icons is white over white so can't see it before actually pressing it...
as for battery life - seems a shorter than the stock ROM I used before, but that might be becuase I play with the phone a bit more now...

I looked for a solution and seems there is none... many users complain about the notification sound, some also mention it lasts forever (like mine...), but no 1 mention what version of Android they are using http://code.google.com/p/chrometophone/issues/detail?id=239 . It worked fine on froyo - short sound and thats it. so probably some changes between froyo and GB cuases the problem. Only way to stop the sound is by forceclosing the app

It seems I have a problem with the WIFI scanning. It only scans when I reconnect the WIFI. If I go out of the WIFI area the tab goes on EDGE as should be, but when coming into a WIFI area it wont show it nor connect to it unless I stop WIFI service and start again. Didn't have this problem on V3... Anyone else got this problem? any solution?

Changed it to 45 - hope it fixed the probel (will see next time I leave the office).
For the benefit of other noob's (it took me a while to find out how to do it...) here's how I managed the change step by step:
1. Used Rom Toolbox / scripter / Mount System Read Write / Run
2. Used Root Explorer to go to /system/build.prop << Long press on the file name and change permissions to rwrwrw
3. Used Astro to open the file (long press, select open as / text << select astro's text editor), located the line I wanted to change [wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180], changed the value, saved
4. Used Root Explorer to go to /system/build.prop << Long press on the file name and change permissions to rwr-r-
5. Used Rom Toolbox / scripter / Mount System Read Only / Run
6. Reboot system
Careful not to change something you are not sure about as you might brick the phone....
use ES File Explorer.
Just make sure you go to its setting, Root Option and enable its Root Explorer and Mount File System.
Then you can browse to "Favourite" and select the "/"
and go to systems and edit the build.prop using its own internal ES Edit note, and it even make a backup of the original file for you.
A lot less step than what you needed to do there.

2)camera doesn't support all features

Hi,
1. change screen light settings few times, after that lights works. exept dimmest setting doesn't light them. battery saver or something feature.
2. There is known bugs still in camera. Dzo may fix tem to the next release.
3. Just go to settings menu
If you want your own mp3 file to the list, you have to create /media/ringtones folder to your sd card. After that your songs will be in the ringtone list.

No, only whipe cache and dalvik cache if nothing else is stated, then your apps are all there. BUT, if you experience issues with something you should do data whipe aswell before you complain. Then you loose all apps and settings.
You should do nandroid backup first so you can restore if the issues are caused by something else if you want apps back easily.

You could also use Titanium Backup for backing up your apps and their data.
After wipe just download it again from market and you can restore all backups.
Doesn't work on messages, phonebook or call log.
Hi Guys
This is weird. My shiny new Note 3 is about three weeks old. It's working 99.9% perfectly except for a slight sound problem. The problem is that when it is connected to a charging dock it USED to play a tone. Now it just vibrates slightly (but still charges). I also noticed that my camera doesn't make a shutter sound when I take a photo. I wondered whether the two issues are related in some way?.
All other sounds seem to be working OK on the Note3 (so it's not a volume setting) and I have checked whether option for the dock 'making a sound' is switched on. Additionally, there doesn't appear to be an option in the camera settings to switch on/off the sound, so it can't be that.
OK none of this is a major problem, but it is a bit of a niggle!
I hate niggly things! .
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

However, as far as I know you can't access the system folder unless you're rooted, so I think it's unlikely that you've deleted them.
