[Q] Question about deep sleep and charging - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi i have a couple of questions and i will just gather them all in one thread. I'm using dzo's ICS version 2.05 and the 3.0.8 kernel if it makes any difference to any of the questions.
1. What is deep sleep? I saw someone mention it on the forum and wondered what is it.
2. Does deep sleep turn on automatically? If so when does it turn on, and if not how do i turn it on?
3. Can the battery get overcharged? Couse im charging it in the night while i sleep so it is at 100% a while.
4. I's it any difference between the Huawei Ideos X5 and the Huawei Titan u8800? or is it the same phone just with two different names?
That was all for now even tho i probobly will have more questions at another time xD
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Deep sleep is a kind of power save mode, phone enters it automatically, you can monitor it with app cpu spy.
Battery cant be overcharged, they are protected against it...

So it doesnt matter that its in the charger a couple of hours when its at 100%?
Thanks for the answers! xD

Nope, it just maintains the full charge...
Lots of info can be found by googling li-ion charging or li-ion protection

Poor Battery Life

I have the European version of the phone amd seem to suffer from poor batery life. The phone can barely be used 3 hours continously. I didn't fully charge the battery the first time so is this the cause? If yes how do I fix it? Also I have everything like Wi-fi etc off so that's not the cause.

if you're comfortable rooting/flashing custom roms onto your phone I'd suggest trying that. I get twice as much battery life out of my phone with the omega 28 rom
Give betterbatterystats a go..(free to xda members) and you'll be able to determine what programs etc are draining your battery.
Your screen time of 3 hours mind you is not too far off with what you can pull off with this device.. (4 hours tends to be a good number).. also taking into account the fact the device wasn't fully charged.
Sywped from my GT-I9300 running Omega v28 & siyah 1.7rc1
I`m on stock rom. I get more than 30 hours on one charge, internet, video, email normal use. Going through a whole day is absolutely no problem.
There must be a crappy app you`ve installed that is draining your battery. You will have to find out which one it is.
Are you playing games? They will drain your battery more quickly. Also, see if any apps are running in the background. After that, un-tick the location services in the settings menu. Change to a static wallpaper. Don't set very low sync times and turn your wifi off when you're not using it.
If you're on stock, you should have around 4 hours of screen time on.
I just want to confirm whether not charging the battery first has any effect on the battery life.

Bcos there's a good chance the battery may have fully discharged between the time it's packaged and when it gets to the end user, which in some cases may take months or even over a year.

I will put this in 3 situations:
>>> Wifi or 3g and screen on continuously and web browsing = 9h
>>> Intermitent use with internet on all the time but sleeping when screen off = 24h stand by + 6h screen on
>>> Just on stand by with screen off: 1)With internet on 2% drain \ hour 2)With all internet off = 0,5% drain \ hour ...
There is many variance acording to screen brightness and economy mode on and off, but everybody can get a good fast system and average screen bright with the above result !!!
get juice defender..it is awesome!!

Let me guess... your battery is consumed by cell standby or gpsd process?

I think it not supposed to be im deep sleep, because the system must manage the charging process. Even when you turn off your phone, and you plug the charger, the phone wakes up to manage the charging.

Yea OP, no big deal in your phone staying at the 384mhz step. However the other problem may be cause for concern. Are you using a custom kernel (or ROM, which may have a customized kernel)? If the phone is stock, are you touching the screen all the while noticing this? How are you monitoring this behavior?
Sorry for so many questions but there are many things that could potentially be going wrong.

Is my battery damaged?

is my battery damaged ? I have tried many ROMs and on all of them I'm having a very bad battery life. I have everything turned off and my brightness is 0% and the battery drains super fast. what should I do ?
1. Do factory reset
2. Exchange the phone if option 1 doesn't work...good working G2s don't perform like your phone is @ the moment

What's the problem with that exactly? (Most issues with battery life are user problems - usually a poor wipe / flash regime and using poor quality apps and heavy syncing. I assume you have used the usual wakelock detection procedures).

I would try to reset everything to factory, see how it goes then. If not, flash custom rom/kernel, tweak cpu and search for wakelocks. If the problem is still present, get a new battery.

1% / 3mins sounds like 5 hours on battery to me. Reasonable, but not great.
Depends if you have your screen on during that time or not, and what brightness, and what tasks it is doing. If that is screen off at all, then it's horrible. If full brightness screen-on for the whole time, then it's ok.

If your phone is the international version, you have the option to buy a new battery And swap it out. I would try this since batteries are pretty cheap at the moment.
If it still drains after all these things only then do I recommend you return the phone for a new one

Culd be som app running that is draining it.
Install a battery monitor. Like gsam then u can see what's drainimg the battery.
Try delete google+. Giving a lot wakelocks. If u are rooted install wakelock detector and let it run 2 or 3 hours and see if its under 20%

I would suggest to stop draining processes first. If stopping it doesn't cause any problems i would rather freeze than delet it.
But if it's caused by a ****ty app you downloaded, delete it right away.
if none works, get warranty

Stock Android 4.2.2 without root and with Greenify and Advanced Task Killer.
WiFi, 3G, Data and Sync are enabled.
I usually get only 24 hours on my S4 mini, so basically day + night, so I have to charge every night. I have wfi turned only at home (using Llama app). At midnight I turn off wifi and sync. It turns on at 6:00 in the morning. I have accuweather widget and one IMAP email account (using IMAP PUSH) syncing.
Is it normal that having Wifi turned on consumes so much more battery? It is visible very good in the screenshot and it is the same effect every day. Screen time on the screenshot was only 1h20m. I have brightness set to Auto -3.

Need emui 4.

Hi guys, upgraded mate 8 to nougat but buttery drain is huge. Downgraded back to what turned out to be emui 4.1 and it's the same thing. Battery drain is still quite huge.
does anyone have a copy or link to L29C636B320 or the last emui 4 Asian spec that works?
how about trying to determine what the actual cause for the battery drain is before flashing around like a crazy person?
i have to agree..don't rollback untill you investigate. i am on latest mate 8 firmware and have no battery issue.
about 2 days of battery with 4g mobile data enabled.

In a way you probably have a point but I'm simply following instincts here. I do believe it's the firmware itself but not sure how.
Ive rebranded to c636 emui 4.1 and it's a little better but still draining. To put that in perspective, I'm losing 18% per night with phone turned off. This never ever happened with emui 4. Infact on emui 4 with heavy usage i.e phone calls, music player on, Bluetooth on and a good 2-3 hours of gaming, internet browser and msging, I was still getting 2 days usage before getting to 20% battery. I had Kernal auditor but no other app to adjust battery performance.
Might sound silly but what's the best way to determine whats causing drain? I don't have any tools apart from SRK tool and Huawei extractor.

I've been thinking about that but I'm still not convinced. I might take the phone back to original c185 spec and see what happens.
Besides, last night it was fully charged at 100%, just plugged in the charger and it's showing 78%.
