it looks like android 2.3.7 for the R800x is now at RC1 the ? is will R800x user like me be geting a long overe do updated too android 2.3.7?
all so dos any one no when android 2.3.7 will be comeing out?
I can barely understand your post but 2.3.4 is the highest released for any R800 and 2.3.3 is what the R800x is on. MAYBE it will get 2.3.4 thats about all you can hope for. And nobody has any info on it
From Wikipedia:
v2.3.5
Released on 25 July 2011, Android 2.3.5 included a number of system enhancements:
Improved network performance for the Nexus S 4G, among other fixes and improvements
Fixed Bluetooth bug on Samsung Galaxy S
Improved Gmail application
Shadow animations for list scrolling
Camera software enhancements
Improved battery efficiency
v2.3.6
Released on 2 September 2011, this version fixed a voice search bug. The 2.3.6 update had the side-effect of impairing the Wi-Fi hotspot functionality of many Canadian Nexus S phones. Google acknowledged this problem and fixed it in late September.
v2.3.7
Android 2.3.7 introduced Google Wallet support for the Nexus S 4G.
Not sure we need it...

2.3.7 has been out for quite some time, just not for R800x (Verizon CDMA Xperia Play - ZeusC)
The 2.3.7 you see in RC1 (release candidate test one) is from the FreeXPeria (FXP) team and is CyanogenMod 7.2 . This is _NOT_ an official firmware update from the manufacturer at all. If you are looking for an official update to 2.3.7 on the R800x, the answer is sometime between when Hell freezes over, and the End of Time. Verizon doesn't care about updating it, and Sony isn't releasing all the bits for the CDMA (R800x) version of the Play anytime soon. Don't expect an update on Verizon, you will be disappointed. Even the Galaxy Nexus CDMA/LTE is a red-headed step-child and gets updates last, if ever, out of the Nexus phones.
If your bootloader is unlocked, and you don't mind not having the Sony Playstation frameworks, and possibly slightly off analog touchpads in games (I believe the buttons have been fixed to work properly), then feel free to go with with CM7.2 and its version of Android 2.3.7
I think R800x users are going straight from Gingy 2.3.3 to ICS.

Verizon has confirmed they have no plans to release ICS on the R800x.
Many ICS ROMs for the R800x are available, and there is much hope for both locked and unlocked bootloaders.
Although the XP was the first Gingerbread phone on Verizon, it doesent mean it will get ICS.

Check out this article from Android Headlines,
http://androidheadlines.com/2011/02...pril-google-kills-2-3-gingerbread-update.html
Google has almost regularily done two updates a year. That doesn't mean they've 'killed' 2.3, in the same way that 2.3 didn't kill 2.2.
HTC has always been ~6 months late with their updates. So people will get 2.3 when 2.4 is released, and 2.4 when the next is released. etc. etc. Of course, other manufacturers are different.
Rampant speculation. Calling shens on that. They'll be sure to get some hits on their website with that headline though.
"Has anyone found news about 2.4 for us???"
Prepare.
speculation: ice cream is just a guess
Personally I believe that Google was planning on releasing 2.3 as Gingerbread (beyond just the Nexus S) and something changed their minds. Hence the delay for the N1.
So they are making some changes / improvements / whatever and are going to push 2.4 out as the widely released Gingerbread.

Yeah there was a delay, but Google did release 2.3 as Gingerbread already. They can have two version with the same codename e.g. Eclair (2.0/2.1). Coincidentally 2.0 was only ever released to one device before 2.1 came out a few months later.
You know, who knows but I do find it odd that we haven't gotten an OTA yet.
I think they know they screwed up with dual cores and lack of tablet support with the new devices coming to light in coming weeks. They are forced to rush honeycomb to market to keep up. Now they don't want to release 2.3 because its useless.
Supposedly 2.4 will be keep devices from separating the android market keeping apps compatible with all the latest versions before they release anything as upgrades.

If that article is accurate, that means even more waiting... while i'm certainly not going to switch to a different platform, other people might do so (read: switch to iCrap Phones).
*coff coff* April *coff coff*
BTW, if this news is TRUE, it means 2.3 has been something like 2.0 on the Milestone, never exit for all the other phones, do you remember?
Good news!
I didn't like so much 2.3, it doesn't have any major UI difference over 2.2 nor new major goodies
I'm only assuming they're adding a few things to 2.4, like perhaps Google Music, hardware acceleration and dual core support. From there they will release 2.4 as Gingerbread(like how eclair was 2.0, and 2.1), then we see updates from manufacturers based on the 2.4 build.
I think one of the reasons of gingerbread delay has to do with the "wonkiness" issue when making/receiving phone call
well.. we have to stop waiting for 2.3 for our nexus one?

Motorola Atrix Gingerbread Android 2.3.3
Motorola launched the Atrix 4G back in February on the 22nd with Android 2.2 Froyo on-board. Since then, the Atrix has seen two over-the-air updates bringing much needed features like increased battery life and HSUPA capabilities. One update per two months seems to be the pace for Moto and AT&T on this device. Seems like Atrix users should be due for another update pretty soon, don’t it? We’ve got you covered.
AT&T and Motorola plan to launch Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Motorola Atrix 4G within the months of June or July. The initial build will likely be Android 2.3.3 with an update to Android 2.3.4 following soon after. The Atrix 4G launched with software version 1.2.6, moved to 1.5.7, and landed on 1.8.3. But, this next update will bring most likely bring users to build number 4.5.XX.
Of course, Motorola’s packed some major features into this update including, but not limited to: overscroll glow, an updated version of Blur, application grouping, re-built main applications, downloads management, an improved camera, better power management, a re-done keyboard, and some nifty animation work. The device’s new version of Blur looks a lot like the Droid X’s recently obtained update.
Due to AT&T’s new policy regarding application sideloading, the “Unknown Sources” checkbox is present and working on the latest Android 2.3.3 builds for the Atrix. That means you’ll be able to sideload without rooting your Atrix. Of course, there are still reasons to root the Atrix. Especially once the bootloader bypass method finally comes to fruition.
We’ve extensively and exhaustively reviewed the Atrix Gingerbread build below for your viewing pleasure. Make sure to check out the pictures as well as the video content after the break!

It's my birthday!
Didnt get from him, I got it from there site 2 Can't wait till it comes out! Hope the update gets leaked out! So we have the chance to play with it
Dont get your hopes up for a specific date or month. You will be sad panda if Att anounces (or waits) till Dec or something. June or July is a speculated date passed from ear to ear. You remember that game from grade school? Notice there is no source.

ahh yes the Android update ETA game. I remember when everyone was waiting for the HTC Hero to go from 1.6 to 2.1 for about 6 months or more after they announced that it would be getting an update.....
But at least this has been officially/unofficially announced which is good news period.
They should be coming out with it soon because most of the dual cores that are coming out and even single core ones have GB already. Like the HTC Sensation 4G that's coming out this month. Its not going to be good for them and HTC says there going to have there boot loader unlocked. If the don't come out with GB in that time frame I'm going to sell my phone and buy from some other company!
Yes ! Very more nice than old motoblur !
I don't know too much about Moto's speed of giving the releases, but I do know that Motorola liberated Android 2.1 way before $ony did the same to my X10
If you are currently rooted and have GingerBlur version 4 on the Atrix, how do you go on about installing/updating Atrix Gingerbread 2.3.3 when it comes out? Do we have to go back to the moto stock rom and then update?

If you are on GBlur, you will have to sbf to do any update. Remember, there is a Moto check before the update will install. But right now we have no procedure for installing Gingerbread because the community doesnt have it. Only Moto does. And the dev they gave it to to try and root after removing the Gigerbreak exploit. Which makes total sense.
i told that about the gingerbread update release a month ago, kennethpenn is testing a beta, then after this, he confirmed, idk if you saw his post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104716 =)
Thx for the reply WiredPirate ..
I'm glad I went with the Atrix over Iphone 4...
I suspect that the release date isn't that far off. We knew roughly when 1.8.3 was going to be out. Though it also wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being pushed back till the beginning of August if they feel they need more time. I would expect things like webtop would be what slows it down.
I am actually optimistic that we will see it sooner rather than later, since other Motorola phones are already getting Gingerbeard updates.
Just read on Samfirmware that, leaked firmware of Fit and Mini runs 2.3.4.
Strangely, Galaxy S more powerful then both device is stuck with 2.3.3.
Now, I am 100% sure that, 2.3.3 is our last update and we wont get Ice Cream Sandwich .... Damn Sammy
The reason may be due to the fact that they are more recent that the SGS....almost 6 month....even though they are not high-end as the SGS
This is text book paralogism!
I think as armanderli, they are more recent, and the galaxy s is the first to have a 2.3.2 before all others, and they do a contar with Google which accelerates the update, if it were located version of the already completed with more than a few bugs and we have a rom descorrectifs later with another.
In all cases will be 2.3.4, require the contract with google to update after 18 months since the release, so there a few months yet. There will be a 2.3.4, the Ice scream I know .... I hope
Small Correction , 2.3.4 is out and its Gingerbread update.
From My point of view, Ice Cream Sandwich would be mostly 4.0 since, its merged branch of Ginger and Honey.

Well we do have cm7 which is 2.3.4
I think we will eventually get 2.3.4 in the mean time there is CM7 and MIUI (which is based on CM). What are the changes in 2.3.4? I mean the oficial Andrid Changes

The main feature is Goggle Talk support for video chat.
The remaining changes are directed to the Nexus one and S and fixes bugs they were having in 2.3.3.
Actually, Samsung announced 2.3.4 for ALL it's devices, the fit was the first one to get it, but every single one will get it.
It is coming for sgs, but I don't see what such a difference it will make.

Samsung (someone higher up in sales) told me that the i9000 will remain on sale as it is a bestseller, and will not disappear with the new models appearing (#2 phone in the Dutch market, only after iPhone 4).
Products on sale usually remain supported, so that is good news. And Samsung has a policy of 'open bootloaders' now it seems (is that for all their phones? Or only Galaxy? Or also Wave?) so we will not get stuck when official support runs out. I see a need there anyway for a privacy-supporting Android, where apps can be denied/faked data like IMEI and location on an individual basis.
And I do not think Samsung will downgrade the product to a different hardware platform, like Sony-Ericsson did late in the life cycle of the K750, where SE switched to a much less capable camera while bringing the phone to a lower price point.

I watch Google i/o all the time and they did say that they will be releasing it for low spec phones. But the problem is SE. They wont want to spend money on a phone from last year so I hate to say it. The X10 will not get 4.0 ICS officially but unofficially yes we will.

I hope it can become a reality in our x10 ... Our devs have done a great job. By Sony Ericsson we can't expect anything because they said they will not upgrade beyond 2.3, remember that they said the same thing with the upgrade to 2.1 and now we have our phones with 2.3
I'm fine with SE not releasing 4.0 for the X10. It's an old phone and I don't expect SE to bankrupt themselves just to do so. Gingerbread is pretty robust and there's a huge number of apps that work with it, it's not going anywhere for a while. I think the only other phone from that Android era that will get 4.0 is maybe the Nexus One.
However, since the '11 Xperia range *is* getting ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), they are probably going to use the same kernel (2.3.32 - based on their prior history). With that said; Their's absolutely no reason why the devs won't be able to port ICS to the X10 (unless if Google does a 180 and doesn't release the source code - like they had with Honeycomb). As far as an official 4.0 for the X10, I doubt it and there's no reason to get anyone's hopes up or else we're going to have another full on XDA SE X10 revolt like before, haha.
It can change but I think ICS will see the X10 only through the devs.

I dunno if your link isn't showing up on my computer or if you accidentally left it off, but upon doing a google search in the last 24 hours, I can say this is news is TRUE in case anyone was wondering... how exciting, hope our awesome developers harp on this soon... although I don't hold out much hope for a CDMA version of the rom as there is no functional ICS rom based on Sony ICS leaks for r800x users yet... I'm just hoping that the reason verizon has not fixed the update to the 2.3.4 firmware is because they are planning and ICS release soon... but let's not kid ourselves, this is Verizon... anyway, exciting news none the less for the GSM r800s... you guys are lucky
