Kindle will not even turn ON! - Kindle Fire General

Yesterday I installed an ICS ROM and it was working great, until it had browser errors. So I restarted it and never turned on. Not even yellow triangle. My computer can't recognize or see device. Is it completely bricked? and is there a fix?
Looks like I may have to call amazon for a replacement and not sure if they will do it.
Any help appreciated!!

Thanks, but I tried that several time with no luck.

would have been good if you had mentioned that in your post - just saw it in the thread in the dev section
btw please post only once according to the forum rules point 5
ok - to your problem
seems that you have a flat battery - is it turning on (at least doing something) when you plug it to the wall charger ?

Sorry about the dual posts, I guess I got a little anxious.
Its doing absolutely nothing different when plugged on to the charger. I actually left it plugged with the Kindle Charger overnight and still nothing...

Hard Bricked my phone

I already posted this in Q&A, but I thought it would get noticed more in this section.
Ok I believe my phone is "Hard Bricked", because it doesn't power up at all. The Green led light will show if i take the battery out and plug it into the computer. This happened as was trying to start the process to unlock my bootloader. I was using RSDlite, loading the "zomgunlock" sbf file, put my phone into rsd mode plugged it in, pressed start and next thing i know it turned off and won't turn back on. Can someone help me?

No its not from a low charge, it was on already 80%
Oh, does your phone get recognized when plugged into a cp?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
no it doesn't seem to be recognized, i tried doing the combos green led light on (volume up + power , etc.)
But the phone stays off?

It stays off unless I take the battery out of the phone and hook it to the computer, that is when I get the green light indicator
Hi,
I am a NOOB but was reading another post that had a similar problem. Not sure how to make a link to it.
The issue the other fellow had was that when he plugged in to the USB port it was actually draining his battery rather than charging it.
There are specific drivers on the Moto website that you need for the computer to charge the phone.
The short way around it is to charge at the wall.
The title of the post I am referencing is "[SOLVED] Atrix will not power on, green light flashes, plugged in and.... nothing!" initially posted 24th Feb 2011 last post was today.
If your issue is more complicated than this then I apologise for wasting your time.
Worst case no further harm done.
I'm pretty sure my battery is pretty good atm but I'll try anything to get my atrix working again
That happened to me when I was trying to flash the unlock bootloader for mine. I'm using the Atrix on Orange running on U4_4.2.0. Completely bricked with the same green light but nothing happening. Told Orange and got a new one luckyly, next day!
Yea well im on my second from at&t bcuz of a hardware problem, unless I'm able to get a third one. .i ned to find out how to fix this, and the battery charger method didn't work for me

USB port on a computer won't drain a connected device. Problem there was he was trying to charge a drained battery on USB 2.0 which doesn't supply enough power to charge properly. The solution to his problem was to charge with the proper Motorola AC wall charger.
Yea I know but I tried the fixes anyway since there was no harm
If it's an AT&T phone take it to a repair center and they will replace it if its less than 1 year old. You don't even need the crappy insurance.
I thought it's only me
I have same problem, googled it 2 days ago - noboday else reported it
same problem - flashed the unlock-able boot-loader - phone turn off, and died...
I progressed a bit more - after replacing battery with a fully charged one, just to find out it's not a battery issue - I prepared the "special cable" - pin 4 connected to VCC.
now - my phone does recognize my phone, as "APX". after providing drivers found in google - it now recognized as "NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices".
it doesn't really help, as RSDlite is still not recognizing it, and using NVflash - i get only errors...
I know - i didn't really helped to solve the problem, as I'm "stuck" with it too, just wanted to share my effort...

Fire on CM9 won't turn on

[SOLVED]
Hello all,
So I went to turn on my Fire and wanted to boot into recovery so I long pressed the power button (+20 secs). Now my Fire won't start up. I get the momentary green light which comes on but no boot up - just a black screen.
Any ideas...i.e. help? Cheers.
For info I'm running (or I am normally...hehe) CM9. Cheers bis...
does the green light stay on if you turn it on ?
or is it "blinking" - like it reboots ?
cm9 seems to drain the battery in some conditions
may be charging with the wall charger for some hours helps
do you see a sort of backlight on the black screen ?
would verify it with hard power down to see the difference

The green light only comes on for a second after pressing the power button. The screen is completely black. What is a "hard power down"?
Also, plugged into the outlet there is no light, charging or otherwise.
Cheers for your response and help. Much appreciated.

hard power down is meant to hold the power button for ~20sec - till it turns off
if you plug it to the wall charger it can last up to half an hour till the orange light comes up when the battery is heavily drained - would recommend to let it on the charger over night in such a case

Oh yes, that's what I did initially - which I assumed put me in this state. But it might well be that it powered down completely. It's plugged in the outlet so I'll it charge more. It's been charging for over 3 hours and there's still no light, orange or other.
hmmm - the strange thing is that nothing shows up on the display - this implies that it don't have enough power to start to the bootloader or the bootloader is messed up
if the bootloader is messed up there is only one way to load a new one
you have to open the kf for this ...
is it recognized at the computer in any way (shown up or the typical ding ding sound) ?

Don't know if you want to do this, but you can open the phone and disconnect and reconnect the battery connector...
What was your battery level, I know in other devices some times the CPU(s) run at full speed in recovery allowing for quicker flashing this could discharge the battery rapidly. Also a flashing red LED when plugged in normally means the phone is charging but doesn't have enough charge to reliably turn on, leave it plugged in for about 15 minutes and try turning it on again.
Try holding down the VOL + and - keys along with the powerbutton (after turning it off by holding down the power button for an extended time) and see if you can get into fastboot. My friend's Nexus 4 kept bootlooping after he unlocked the bootloader but booted straight to CWM after, not letting it erase userdata first.

I've got the exact same issue. Plugged it in last night to charge and this morning it wouldn't turn on. Plugged and unplugged it and the red LED starts flashing. After a minute or so I'm getting the battery charge animation on the screen - so the red LED is power related. Now to see if it actually charges up and boots.
Hi nycbjr. I have seen a similar issue posted here, but I can't find the thread at the moment, try searching. If I remember correctly then he got it working by holding power, volume keys and then plugging in the charger.

My RMA experience was pretty good. It was a Thursday afternoon I phoned Google, and had the second device the following Tuesday. Although I don't like that they put a charge hold on your credit card for another $500 which isn't the fastest to come off, the benefits outweigh that single negative. You don't have to pay for shipping, youre never without a device, for a while you have two devices so you can compare (if needed), shippings decently quick.

This "black screen of death" has just happened on my Nexus 10. My device is unlocked, rooted, with CWM and CM10.1 and stock kernel. EDIT: the battery was full (~80%)
I was using Perfect Viewer and the screen suddenly went black. I've tried holding the power button alone and with the volume buttons pressed for up to 1 minute and nothing. Tried to do the same while charging and while connected to a computer. I also tried to connect the USB cable while holding the power button. Nothing worked so far.
Is there any way to send commands such as "reboot' or "shutdown" while connected to a computer? (something like the way fastboot works on linux)
Maybe removing the battery might work, what you guys think?

I have the identical problem. I left the phone plugged into USB on the computer for 15 hours. No change. A wall charger does not turn the charging light (white light) on.

OP had asked whether an universal battery charger could fix the problem. Low battery error would've been obviously fixed by charging the battery via an universal charger, which I recommended, or by MacGyver method, which he had said he may not be able to do. That's why I recommended it. Since he tried to charge it the regular way by simply connecting it to a wall outlet, it didn't work.

I can confirm that instead of the McGyver method, using a new battery restores the device to being able to be reflashed. Yes, you are starting all over, but instead of a brick, your Defy is back in service.
Thanks to everyone who made the suggestions. I'm sure the McGyver method works for some, but a new battery and a $5.00 charger from eBay restored my phone.
