So I was using WP7 and whenever I turned on any navigation app (including Bing, which accesses location) the device would freeze and reboot.
I thought it was a WP7 issue and reinstalled Android, and to my surprise, as soon as I tried to use a location-based service (Waze in this case) my device froze and rebooted.
So I'm guessing my GPS Antenna is pooched. Any idea how to better diagnose and/or fix this problem?
That's strange, definitely something up with the inner contents of your phone, try flashing a different Android rom and see if the problem persists? It would help if you told us specifically which wp7 and Android roms you flashed.

I'm pretty sure it's HW issue because the symptoms are identical to the sound it makes when it freezes.
The WP7 Rom was Pdaimatejam, current Android ROM is IceCreamTosti v0.11 with Dorinmax Kernel.
Mate switch back to WM 6.5 and do a clean install
Before that try a task 29 or changing your radio
If nothing works, well then your radio must be pooched
Reverting to WM 6.5 does solve a few lame problems
P.S. please can I use your sign ? I <3 IT

I'll try it as a last resort, although I DID do a Task29 already.
Thanks for the tip.
You can use my sig, sure
Ah, well. It's my birthday this week and I've been eyeing the HTC One X, what a better opportunity to upgrade
Update: Full Task29 (No Radio) + Installed WM6.5. To make sure, I started Google Maps and checked that it works, it got some satellites and actually worked!! (gave it about 5 minutes to make sure).
Then I Installed CLK over it + Recovery Wipe + Installed Android over it, now testing Waze.
So far so good. I'll have to give it a driving test, but so far looks like it's at least a little better.
Thanks for the tip again!

When i make a call, for some reason the screen locks up and doesnt allow me to press any buttons. the only way for me to hang up the phone is to press the actual call end button. Does any one know wat the deal is with this..
Hi, It's a good idea to say if you are using a stock or cooked ROM and mention the version as it can siometimes be relevent. Also, has it ever worked or did it stop working after you installed an application? When you put the phone to your ear when in a call does the screen go blank then come back on when you take it away from your ear? Do you have any "Slide down fro more options" text on the screen? This is a Microsoft base so soft and hard resets do sometimes help
Regards.
Im using the stock rom that comes on the Tmobile USA HD2. I dont recall if it was working before I loaded any programs on to it. The screen does turn black when I put it to my face but none of the button work.
Are you using BSB? I had a similar problem. Took me hours to work out what it was.
BSB? I dont know what that is but ive decided to just flash in a custom rom later on today. My battery drains too fast and that freezing isnt helping so i might as well get something that better utilizes this hardware
am having same problem - NEED TWEAK
when I'm on the phone I can't push any buttons. today is the first time I've been using the phone, so I can't tell if it was happening before I installed anything. help, please....
I'm just using the tmobile installed rom not cooked one.

Have you tried doing a soft reset (red button inside device - HTC tech support told me taking the battery out for 10 seconds does the same thing though).
OK, if you can't tell if it was happening before you installed any additional applications / utilities.try unistalling everything you have installed. If that doesn't work try doing a hard (factory) reset, that will reset you phone to factory defaults (back up texts etc. first). It might be quicker doing a factory reset first actually. Details are in you manual (well at least in the Euriopean manual). Here is a link to details oi how to do soft and hard reset for the HD2. http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_hd2_leo_hard_reset_soft_reset_en.html.
Try it after a factory reset before you install anything else. If it still doesn't work you might have a faulty unit.
Hope this helps.

OK. Have a look at the ROM section of XDA and see if this is a known issue with that ROM. You could flash back to a stock ROM and see if it it no longer functions, showing a coincidental fone failure requiring a warranty fix.

Thanks for all your help got it sorted now
I flashed a different rom and it worked, so i flashed it again to the EnergyRom and that worked. It must have been a bug.. Glad its sorted now as it was annoying me..
did hard reset, and reinstalled everything, piece by piece. problem has not reoccurred and it's not locking up (for now). thanks.
Problem fixed
I just flashed my TMO USA HD2 to the NRG rom and its working faster and better than ever.
heey guyz,
As written above, my problem is that my htc HD does not support Sense anymore!
I've tried several ROMS and a lot of Chefs but all had the same result at the end!
The Problem:
When I flash a rom (with sense) the first time it works perfectly, but after one reset it sticks at startup screen and does not show the sense app, I only can get into the start menu.
This is what I already tried:
-Tried several roms, kitchens, chefs, restaurants etc
-Tried flashing with 3x hardreset after complete
-Tried Task29
-Tried to shut off the sense app and switch to WM standard home screen but this gives the same result after 4 or 5 days (currently using energy ROM no problems with WM standard home screen but with the sense)
Please any solution? I need help as fast as possible cuz I'm going on vacation the 9th for almost 6 weeks and I don't want a crappy phone!!
sorry for my bad bad English!

Hi Op, I tried flashing again and this time without SIM and memory card, and it worked.
However when I inserted back the memory card again it stuck in launching Sense 2.5.
So yes, it appears to be either the memory card, or the card slot causing issue. I will try to figure out which has made the freezes.
Good luck with yours.

Well, I guess he's already on his vacation. Maybe it's not all that bad, we all spend too much time on our phones anyway... Might just clear some time for him to enjoy the vacation
Anyway, I'd try to flash a 1.56 stock rom first using the official HTC tool and then try again. That might help.
Hi
I am having trouble with my t-mobile htc hd2, I have gotten hspl and MAGLDR111 on it. I have tried a couple of nand and some hang on the android boot up screen, while others like Stock Leo_Desire nand gets the black screen right after i saw the unlock screen. The only nand that works for me is the NexusHD2-Froyo_V1.9a_NAND. I have also tried clockworkmod recovery but the same thing happened; either hang on android boot up screen or black screen after i see the unlock screen. Hope someone can provide me with some help.
The NexusHD2 Froyo nand works great, its just drains quite a lot of battery from the phone; have to charge at least once a day. I want also wanted to fix this problem because I want to try different nand.
I dont remember what my previous version was because i thought it was the WM version issue so I updated.
This was the WM Version that I had installed.
RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_3.14.531.1_Radio_Signed_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_2_Ship
thanks.
BTW, I have tried a couple of other stock wm 6.5 roms but the same thing happened.
Same problem
I am having the same problem as you, except i havent tried NexusHD2-Froyo V1.9a NAND. Im going to try it now to see if it works.
That one worked for me woot!

that's good, just waiting to see if anyone encountered this problem or solved this problem.

Yea its annoying only one is working, i checked everywhere on the forums and the stock nand build said it just doesnt work on some. But if one of them works without a problem then tytung did it right. I went back to using the SD card i might go back to nand in the future.

recently installed android with the MDJ Desire HD v4.6 rom build. while i get that the phone if powered off and on reverts back to windows - the phone seems to do this even without that and if left for too long (like overnight) it just switches back to windows and needs me to launch the build again. any suggestions?
thanks

Is it restarting on it's own? Technically, I don't think it can just shut Android down and go back to WinMo on its own. If it's restarting on its own, then there's a deeper, underlying condition that you need to take care of.
So if it just reboots itselft, your suffering on random reboots, pretty sure. Could you give us more information about your build, radio, HSPL and so on?
And another tipp, you could install an automatic bootloader in WinMo, like this one here: Exceller Build Loader.
This is the one I always used for SD builds.
hi
assume it rebooted as it happened in the middle of the night - guess it couldn't really switch to winmo without a reboot.
build: MDJ Desire HD v4.6 rom build
any ideas on how i can get the rest of the details without going back into winmo. donloaded a systems app but doesn't give me radio informaiton - says unavailable.
thanks for your help
not sure why but it just rebooted so here is the information
radio: 2.15.50.14
rom: 3.14.405.2(04666)wwe
not sure on where i can get the hspl info but think i installed hspl 2.08.
thanks

Seems to be a normal combination.. Does it just randomly reboot?
And did you tried another SD card?
for some time, after restarting or turned on my leo, if I receive a call, the phone freezes and I have to restart it. but if after a reboot, I'm the first to make a call to someone else, I can talk quietly and the phone will not lock. this happens for all subsequent calls. I thought it would be a problem with the ROM I used, but also by changing the ROM problem occurs again.
What should I do?
my LEO:
HSPL 3.3 (I also tried 8.2 but I get the same problem)
radio 2.15.50.14
Bootloader CLK 1.5.0.3
ROM: Pixeldroid Jelly Bean AOPK 4.2.2 v 6.0 FINAL 20/05/2013 (with date and onext linuxswap)
thanks for your help
p.s . sorry for my english!
I was going to ask you to post your question here, in the ROM specific Q&A thread. But you said you changed the ROM and the problem is still there.
Try a fresh install, remove everything, install a new ROM and BEFORE restoring your apps or setting up the phone, try to reproduce the problem. It could be because of one of your apps, or one of the settings.

Unfortunately, even after a fresh install, my LEO crashes when I receive an incoming call.
Moreover , i have no badblock
Your problem is weird. I have just made a search, and found about two people with a similar problem, but with a dead end, i.e. not answered.
I see that you have SWAP enabled, try to remove its partition from the sd card and reinstall the ROM without swap.
I had only troubles with Swap/Odex checking while inatalling ROM, so yeah, worth trying.
Also, it still can be HARDWARE issue as nothing (which should) helps.
If unchecking swap wont help, i'd suggest doing hard reset and if WM has same problem, go to HTC or any GSM store, maybe big heads can help with that then.
I hope You will get it sorted out!

Long time ago had similar issue. Problem was in phone and second factor slowly dying sdcard.
I fix my problem by flashing back to wm6.5 then after did install back MAGLDR used newer Cwm (dont use old 3.x.x version). Ofc bought new sdcard.
My advice would be try now while you are on Wm 6.5 this rom, its SRAM version, meaning you will run from wm and it will be loaded in RAM so no messing with sdcard: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868306
If it works, try to flash Magldr, don't use HSPL 3.3 instead use older 2.8, also don't use Cwm 3.x.x use instead 5.x.x version.
When you install android allways follow instructions especially how much system, data partition size must be and if you install JB version try NativeSd if your card is good one.
Hope it helps.

This happened to my phone also difference being it didn't freeze all the time but literally half of the time whenever i got an incoming call. I did all the stuff being suggested here and tried multiple roms without success. Then i removed task killer after a fresh install of "CM9ight_leo_v1.1a_div2" rom and my phone hasn't freezed since, been two months now.
