[Q] Hyper-Slow wifi speed on university. - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

A bug which stands still:
V: Aurora 2.04
K: DZO .35
Mod: some apk's deleted from system/app, Copied new qcom_cfg.ini with manual methods.(permissions ok rwxr--r--)
Bug: Since 138 stock rom to beta3 gingerbread and since stockwell's miui to aurora I tried every rom and mod but still I've slow wifi connection in my uni. My friends' androids has 54 or 150 mbit links but mine has 1mbit uplink. So slow.
64 different access points placed and all of 'em running four different SSIDs (Student, Sehir, Sehir-11N, Sehir-Guest) Guest has no password but mac filtering. 11N is running on 801.11N and other 2 has same attributes except passkeys.(sehir is teachers' ssid, student is students') and Encryption of Sehir-11N is Personal WPA2 TKIP-AES 26 character. I'm using 11N one and it has 8 hour IP lease time. and I tried every every thing. Show me a way XDA.

Is it possible to convert latter kernels to RMNET?

Is it possible to convert the latter builds and kernels to RMNET?
Is so how is it done? Is it a full kernel re compile or just file and config swapping?
Using [BUILD][16.10.10]|<<Mdeejay FroYo Sense Series>>|2.14.207.1| with hastarin R7.5
Thanks
Would like to know this also. I tested a rmnet build yesterday and my connection was great taking advantage of T-Mobile's upgraded network here in Houston. Average 2 mbps down and 1 up. I just can't get used to Rom w/o sense. So I'm back to a sense build but with a really bad connection.

was using bangsters_V1.5_10092010. Very nice rom. Worked with everything I tried running on it. I may go back to it and try to adjust to not having sense.
Darkstones latest build (3.2) theoretically has a fix for the PPP dropout. Testing now.

Are you sure you run on rmnet?
Please check conn_type in startup.txt.
In your case, you just edit "conn_type" in startup.txt, no need to convert or any thing.

I wish my UL like yours, my UL speed never pass 150k when using rmnet.
Doh
Latest darkstone died.
Internet just dropped off.
I really wish there were some more RMNET builds.
hope for rmnet in the future, almost because ppp simply doesn't work at all in my area (france) an by the way I have also very good result with rmnet, around 1mbps up... maybe because the nework, in fact for the moment I have to do the choice between build with working sensor (like mattc 1:8) and build with working data...
Hoping someone will know the answer to this.
IT is clear to everyone that the PPP implementation we have is still under development?
The reason I ask is all the status sites show internet access is complete.
There are a few concerns. If you open a terminal connection on the phone all the basic internet features like ping and dns queries arn't working. I expect this is because the PPP is still a hack versus the RMNET is an alternative hack.
Where does the issue lie? is it at the network (Layer 1 and 2) in the kernel or due to bad drivers for the GSM layer?
This might also be related to other issues like GPS not being able to download A-GPS data as it is at the kernel layer versus the Application layer. All the internet functionality that is working is at the application layer.

[Dec 10][SD]JIGNERSMIUI 12.03 Stock theme (rootfs)+ Hastarin Kernel 8.5.1

BUILD UPDATE base on 12.03 MIUI release
Change log: [10Dec] 12.03 release
- Theme works
- Stock icons
- Much faster than 11.23 release
- improved MIUI music player
- revamped and improved keyboard
- Bluetooth works out of the box, (just sent a photo file to my daughters Nokia phone)
- GPS works out of the box too!!! just tested them this morning
DOWNLOAD JIGNERSMIUI 12.03
Sharing to you the build I found to be very stable after having used it for nearly
two weeks of continuous use. Originally built by domineus of MIUI Developers
forum, updated kernel to Hastarin 8.5.1 old cam.
two weeks of pure bliss, really, thats all i can say. I leave this if you are a fan of
MIUI, then this is definitely worth a test
Advantages:
- No screen freeze at all (just leave Auto Rotate Screen in setting, default is on)
- No SOD (can you believe it, never had any) (See Recommended steps)
- No Robo voice
- No screen wakeup delay
- Wifi works
- Market apps installs without any hassles
- 3G indicates HSPA if you are in its coverage
- Almost no data drops (tip: when turning "Data" on, give it 3-5minutes to stablish a good connection then start updating FB, browse, etc)
- Working Notification lights
- Loud sounds, but not too loud
- Working ringtones, (I prefer Zedge, free membership in market)
- Fast (very fast) graphics courtesy of Hastarin tip: install spareparts in Android Market and set all animations to fast (in my test it hardly affected battery usage)
- Camera and Camcorder
- Facebook Contacts Sync (yes you read it right) for birthdays, I recommend "Birthday Assistant"
- MIUI music interface is one if not the best our there.
- loads of stuff as short cut in the pull down task bar like data, wifi, sound 14 in total including reboot function.
- Battery is excellent, better than the Stock Winmo i was on
How to achieve the best battery life in this build: (5-7mAmp on standby)
- turn "Data" on ONLY when you need to update facebook, browse the web using 3G
or use chat clients like eBuddy etc.
- consequently turn on WIFI only when in range and when you need to connect to it
- only ever use live wallpapers, when you are showing off to your friends
Recommended steps in testing this build:
- charge battery at least >70%
- HSPL 2.08 (Video Guide Link)
- Task 29 - use .nbh file of Radio 2.15 to run it (this will then be your Radio)(YouTube link)
- Flash Oct 13▐ VBNROM *Reloaded 2*▐ 21913/24634▐ WWE 3.14 Core▐ Best Battery <8mA in Standby
- Full format SDCard using SD Formatter 2.0
- Unzip the file using 7zip found here
- at first place ONLY the folder "JIGNERSMIUI" in your SDCard
- Manually run CLRCAD then haret.exe (I prefer this method as it is plain and simple)(you must activate haret.exe while bottom keypads are a light).
- sync with google and facebook
- reboot back to VBN Winmo
- connect to pc (still in winmo) then transfer all your pictures, music, videos via usb
- Turn screen off, disconnect from pc
- run CLRCAD and haret.exe again
- Note: at first run of Gallery, it will be slow as it takes time to index the photo/video
files, just be patient and give it the time it needs (5-10min) depends on how
many photo files you have. After that it will be fast

another battery saving tip: screen brightness setting
- at night or in dark places only set 20% - 30% of the indicator bar
- at daylight or bright places about 30% - 50%
startup.txt states
"rel_path=miui.rootfs nand_boot=0"
Should i re-name the unziped folder to miui.rootfs?
**EDIT** Yes it does need to be re named. **EDIT**

Sorry about the mixup, but there is a new download link in first post.
thanks for your patience and now the folder is "miui.rootfs"
so no need to edit startuptext.
Could you tell me where the cat utility is located so I can install adfree? Thx, great build, I am going to use this as my daily build

thanks for the sharing.I love miui builds
i love all the MIUI builds & this one seems like the fastest that i've tried, only problem that i have (and i've had it with every MIUI build) is that after i set everything up, sync google, restart the phone & boot back up into android it freezes up when i see the "Preparing to scan sd card" notification in the taskbar. locks up & have to reset. happens everytime.

Have you gone through all the recommended steps i made in the first post?
it would be worth trying it, as these are the steps I made and i firmly believe
this made running the build on my device stable.
Does the theme manager works? It doesn't work in MIUI 26.11.
im running a different winmo rom (my own), formatted 8gb sd card fat 32, didnt task29 but did hard reset.
maybe a temp fix, but i downloaded Startup Manager from the market and disabled the boot media scan. works for now

[Q] 3g turbocharger not working

i am running cm7 nightly 44 on my DX and ive installed the v6 surpercharger with awesome results, when i tried out the 3g turbocharger, and kernel tweaks, i reboot like SM says and when i do, i get no data no cell signal wifi wont work, and airplane mode wont toggle. ive tried a few times with the same results. Ive searched and found nothing specific to my setup either. what am i doing wrong? any help would be appreciated! thanks!
You probably have 2.3.4 and its made for 2.3.3.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Actually I'm on 2.3.5 so that explains it too
It's weird... on the same phone wifi will be fine with stock but not okay with a custom rom.
Android version doesn't matter.
But I made a change to 3g TurboCharger that needs testing...
Edits to build.prop...
Code:
ro.ril.hsxpa=3
ro.ril.gprsclass=34
ro.ril.hep=1
ro.ril.enable.dtm=1
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=28
ro.ril.enable.a53=1
ro.ril.enable.a52=0
ro.ril.enable.3g.prefix=1
ro.ril.htcmaskw1.bitmask=4294967295
ro.ril.htcmaskw1=268449905
ro.ril.hsupa.category=9
ro.ril.def.agps.mode=2
ro.ril.def.agps.feature=1
ro.ril.enable.sdr=1
ro.ril.enable.gea3=1
ro.ril.enable.fd.plmn.prefix=23402,23410,23411
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
Difference between this and update 2:
ro.ril.gprsclass=34 (instead of 12)
ro.ril.htcmaskw1=268449905 (instead of 14449)
I've actually seen gprsclass=32 in the past but 12 is the most common setting so I had used 12.
After researching today, seems that 32 would indeed be better than 12 BUT there is a new gprs class 34 so this would be a first for testing it at 34! (as far as I know) lol
So, I'd be interested in seeing if this is better than the 3G TurboCharger update 2 tweak
Ill try the update ill let you know. Thanks.
Or how would I implement that? Editing the build.prop?
yes.. if you have update 2 applied it only involved changing 2 entries
I applied both tweaks and edited the build.prop with the new values you suggested and with 34 I got no 3g no cell signal airplane wouldn't toggle and error when turning on wifi. I then tried 32 and no 3g no cell signal and error for wifi but airplane would toggle then.
ok.. 34 is out of the equation...
At 32 its the same as before
Well I wonder what's not working then I apply the kernal tweaks first then 3g Turbo then reboot. All with script manager
Does the baseband matter?
Does the 3g turbocharge work on all android devices or strictly the DX? I want to do this on my Evo 4g, but the process seems a bit over my head.
Is the increased 3g speed attributed to ONLY the changed values in the build.prob? If so, can this be done manually by editing build.prop with a text editor, to achieve the same results?

what does 98KickAssKernelTweaks do?

Problem with wifi on froyobread

I installed froyobread 20 21 22 23 and all of them have wifi problem(its very slow or mainly it doesnt work at all)...i understand that there is a adhoc wep problem...i am not very familiar with these things...but in wireless settings...when i see my wifi connection...it says secured with wep...
Anyway...i saw that in gingerDX ROM adhoc wep is fully suported...so why dont they bring it to froyobread???...no offence but why dont they make a perfect rom instead of making a lot roms with bugs???
If your wifi works well...most probably you cant use camera and you dont have theme chooser...if you can use camera and wifi you dont have theme chooser...if you have camera and theme chooser you cant use wifi
AS I UNDERSTAND FROYOBREAD IS THE BEST ROM(only problem is wifi for some of us)...SO BRING WIFI ADHOC WEP OR WHAT IS THE NAME OF IT TO FROYOBREAD SO WE CAN FINALLY USE A ROM...STOP MAKING NEW GINGER DX THAT MOST PROBABLY WILL NEVER HAVE CAMERA WORKING
Ah! So you use both of custom ROMs (FroyoBread and GingerDX)?
I using FroyoBread v023b final now which stop to developing and fix anymore. I heard GingerDX toke FroyoBread to develop on 01-08-11. It have features similar to FroyoBread
Clean stock CM7. Latest Gingerbread 2.3.5.
Fully working Camera
Minimal number of apps are installed.
Lightweight: maximum 99MB of free RAM.
My favorite modules: X8Gesture v007, X8Undervolt v001, X8MDDI v001, AX8 SMARTASS
Smooth. It IS as smooth as CM6 in 2D (menu scrolling/flinging...)
A-Theme included.
WEP adhoc supported
Are you sure that is still having camera bug?
Do you get the same wifi problems with the sock SE Rom?
Because maybe it's a hardware fault?

[app] HsdpaKeepalive v0.1

Have made a app that keeps your hsdpa alive while u tether on your phone.
Target ip is hardcoded(google dns)
You have possibility to change packet size and ping delay that suits your needs.
Remember to make a excemption on juice defender for this program, if u want to use ping while screen off ability.
Originaly i made this app for my personal needs since i didnt find similar one from market, any feedback on bugs or features is very much appreciated.
edit: Upcoming features which i plan to add: 1. Wifi detection, stops pinging when u have wifi on. 2. Automatic packet/delay calculation for hsdpa to keep on.
