ICE CREAM SANDWICH REPORT
Hey Guys ,
Some people need information about Android ICS on the HD2.
And when you have information about it, you can post it here
I use tytung´s ICS Rom because I like his Rom , he is one of the best
But that´s not meaning that other Rom cookers are bad.
the rom name is: [3.Jan.2012] (Android 4.0.3) (AOSP ICS ROM for HD2) NexusHD2-IceCreamSandwich Beta10
And you can download it here ; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354267
This is his post ...

SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH
__________________________________________________________________
So I will gave you a report of the rom ...
I like the UI of ICS , It is a "PURE" android User Interface.
The Camera had soo many futures but at the moment it isn´t possible to use them because ICS on HD2 is at a betha phase.
The Rom from tytung is smooth and stable I hadn´t any force closes (only in Camera)
And when the Rom lags you can reboot your phone and it will be faster as before.
The Internet BRowser ist Fast and good you can surf good ;D
I tested the Wi-Fi and it´s faster than in MIUI I don´t know why xd
I downloadet some Apps .. (Facebook, FB Chat , Dropbox, Flashplayer, and more)
the Apps worked for me good.
I had some Phone Calls and SMS ..they worked pretty good .
The Lockscreen is cool an smooth ,too.
Also the statusbar.
The options are good not sooo manny Options like MIUI but it´s ok I don´t need so much options
The background wallpapers are so beatiful I like them ..
The live Wallpapers are pretty cool ...
The widgets are for me not so important only the Clock and Calender
.... What I dont like at the Clock widget is that it´s only one you can select -,-'
After using this rom (Beta10) for about 3 Days now:
My Setup:
- 190MB Partition
- no App2SD, no Data2SD, no "Anything"2SD
- Removed: Google Talk, talkback
- using Launcher Pro instead of the ICS-Launcher
Not working for me:
- usb mass storage mode (we knew this before)
- Panoramic-Mode in Camera App
- Any Barcode Scanner (gives no result)
- Sensor: Compass
Working less good (compared with NexusHD2 GB 3.2a):
- Google Maps (slow, two-finger zoom problems)
- Titanium Backup (Every two seconds saying: "superuser granted")
- Gallery (sometime does not show any pictures)
Working really good:
- Stock Browser: not the smoothest scrolling, but very fast and does not need to reload anything. Example: Pages with a lot of pictures and stuff (in my case "Anandtech.com"), all content is there, nothing needs extra time even when you zoom out and scroll very fast. -> Absolutely comfortable browsing!!!!
Services:
- Latitude with location-logging (don't know if this is the right translation, in German it's "Standortverlauf")
- Whatsapp
- Live.de (Hotmail) an gMail Push eMail
- Wifi always on (this actually SAVES Battery when you can connect to a wifi, because the wifi-module consumes less power than an active 3G-session)
- System Panel Monitoring
With this setup I do not have any FCs and a perfect battery life:
Usage during these 44,5 hours:
- 2 short phone calls
- some sms
- some searching on gMaps
- some web-searching and reading news
- taking some pictures (about 10)
- Wifi always on (when at home / a place where I have wifi access. when not: switched off)
- Latitude on (with location logging)
- some messages and pictures via whatsapp
- received some mails with attachments
- short use of Facebook app (fb sync and stuff: off!)
- flight-mode at night
So this is my Report for ICS ,,It will come More Information I hadn´t enough time to test it ic flashed it yesterday
PLEASE GIVE A THANKS FOR MEE
*PLEASE RESPECT MY POST THE BAD COMMENTS YOU CAN SAVE YOURSELVES*
I DONT USE THE ICS ANYMORE BEFORE A UPDATE DON´T COME... I DON´T KNOW WHY TYTUNG DON`T SHARE A UPDATE

Hi,
i use tytungs NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9 V1.2 with Data2SDInstallerV13_GB.
Battery life is good, sometime Google Maps and Angry Birds shows after start a black screen. Long tab back button to kill app and start again then it works.
i use easy battery saver from market to switch mobile data and sync off while phone is off (standby). Only Wifi connection i toggle manually, it seems to stuck when i´m in a area with no available wifi network and i turned wifi on and off. In settings/wifi displayed "wifi will be deactivated" and wifi on/off button is grayed out and will not response. Battery drains down with a current of 78mA. All other will be work normaly. At home where i have a good connection to my wifi i haven´t this problem.
Reboot phone and wifi works again normaly. Standby current of 6mA / 7mA.
i flashed BCM4329_firmware_v4.218.248.18 and have the same issue, flashed back BCM4329_firmware_v4.218.248.23.
With Version V1.1 i don´t have this problem. Toggle wifi connection manually or by easy battery saver was no problem.
excuse my bad english.
schöne grüsse / best regards
Olli
thanks guys for your reply ;D
Well dOne younut great write up just about to flash thanks for the info.
Nothing to thanks ;D
best rom , works well for HD2. Limited options in settings for display as well as in Cyanogenmod settings... waiting for updates... yet to try more features.
The HD i bought had already installed a 2.2 sense in magdlr. It is fast and stable.
Im willing to change and i tried miui 2.3 in sd. Worked ok but suffered sometimes apps made it slow, showing me the chinese guy with the turtle a lot.
After this i tried tostidroid with ics v9.0. Loved ics. Apex launcher, everything. Hated the performance.
Changed to tostidroid 10.0. Usable but not for everyday use.
Now, all the questions:
1. Is having ics on this phone, with nice performance, a real possibility? Or should i just stay at 2.2, 2.3 roms?
2. When changing version of tosti from 9 to 10, i deleted the entire folder and did all the setup. Is that the right way to do it or there is a way to just "upgrade a build?
3. When looking to improve performance in tosti, tried to overclock the phone with rom control. Phone reset itself or freezes. So i should rule it out? Should i try overclocking to lower values?
4. Could my sd be the one to blame for poor rom performance?
5. During all this time i left my sense 2.2 in magdlr as a fallback. Should i just backup this rom and flash a new one directly to the internal memory?
Your thoughts?
We`re not going to have a fast ics without lags, unless if someone can port full hardware accelleration for ics in our device
im running the latest tostidroid on the NAND with dorimanx 5.6 kernel
I dont really notice any lags, only in the browser when using multiple tabs but using dolphin solves this
full HWA would be sweet but it is not really a dealbreaker
Ιn some point you are right.Ιcs is fast or even faster from gingerbread if the app you use doesnt need hw acceleration. For example in ics launcher i have lag but i havent it if i use zeam launcher.Same for default ics dialer. If i use dialer one there is no lag.Αlso i think that it scrolls better in some programms.for example in k-9 mail
So, trying so me replacements might work? I noticed the facebook app is almost unusable, mobile versión works ok. I love apex launcher, maybe should try nova? Da, twitter, baconreader seem fine. Widgets i only use simicalendar and clock. Was cable ti overclock a bit the phone and so dar looking good.

Hi everyone,
I've searched this forum for a while to find out a way to get real toggle on the notification bar.
I mean, when using froyo, I had no problem with apps like elixir or widgetsoid (each toggle can be clicked and the action was performed) but since I've upgraded to 2.3.4, those apps are buggy and it seems that each bar is considered as only one button and brings a other popup to chose which button to toggle...
It seems that it is like this in 2.3.4, but I've found this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559498
But works only with Xperia... (I've replace my systemUI.apk with theirs but it does not work at all)
Does anyone know how to get a statusbar toggle that works fine..
I heard about MIUI but I am really not sure to move to alternate ROM (because of still missing functionalities)
Regards
Manitooo
I don't know any toggles that work with official 2.3, but you should try different custom ROMs. After the first time I used a custom ROM, I've never used a official one, they're usually much lighter, have better duration of the battery, and CM7/MIUI are very stable (I've never experienced a crash with MIUI on my M2, and I'm using it for 3~4 months).
If you don't like them, you can always come back to official 2.3 (or 2.2, if you feel it was better because of the toggles).
Thanks for your answer.
I have a friend (with an Xperia) that had the same problem nd which has been solved by the thread I posted above...
For the MIUI CM7, I clearly don't understand perfectly what is it CM vs MIUI are they competitor / alternative / complementory.....
and what are functional
what should I do to use MIUI / CM7 (I've read about nandroid, how to backup, what to backup and what are the things that I will lost..; HW acc, and so on)..
regards
Manitooo
In the Android Developent area of the forum there are a lot of good tutorials (usually in the thread of the rom) that explain how to change ROMs / downgrade the kernel (necessary for MIUI + tezet's CM7). Neither MIUI nor CM7 have the alt lock functionality on the keyboard (not much of a big deal, you can press alt twice and it's the same) and the 720p recording. If the absence of 720p recording is a big problem for you, you can always try MS2Ginger or Argen2Stone ROMs, they allow recording in 720p.

I found the time to upgrade the ROM of my Milstone2 with a CM9... (the last version seems perfect)... and It is clearly a new phone..; more reactive and lower consumption.
really impress by the works made for the cyanogen mod !
some tweaks to do , some bugs here and there but clearly the best mod ever..
For the recording in 720p, no problem since the last july version of CM9
Hello all!
This is my very first post on this forum... I wanted to post it in the official developer's thread, but I have no permissions to do so and I have no other choice than write it right here.... So I hope you enjoy it and so the developers. Ah, I'm from Brazil... so sorry about my poor English.
A week ago, I downloaded the latest M&M's MIUI rom (V.6) and installed in my Xperia X10. "But fallenearth, have you, in one week, experienced enough to write a review?" Yes, I did.
First of all, I have the X10a. Might be that some issues I had is because the Rom was made for X10i.. I don't know...
The good things about this ROM:
First one, is the speed. Wow! They've capped out the frameskip, and the animations and transitions flow very well. Everything runs fast. You flip the page, and there it is... doesn't choke like basically all the other roms.
The interface is very clean, so you don't need to worry about all the crappy widgets the CM roms have. By the way, this rom is based on FXP CM7.2, but much, much better. I know how people love CM, but for xperia.... hmmm...
The theme that comes with the rom is superb. There are a lot of graphics controls and options... you can even choose the color of the led for any instance of callings.
There are specific options for the launcher... witch is common, but nicely arranged.
The installation is very easy, specially because the Aroma installer. It's like installing a default program in your pc, with the touchscreen working. Really well done (even the screen keeps sliding to the right... but it's ok, much better than just in the recovery boot program)
Now, the bad things
I've experienced a lot of flaws in this rom.
The first I detected was the difficulty to connect to some WiFi devices, like the CM roms. Depending on the device, it takes an eternity to connect. Yes, I've installed the wifi modules correctly (if you don't, in attempt to switch the wifi on, you'll receive an error message).
Some apps crashes. All the entertaining "booth" apps from Pivi & Co. stop to work. The latest Root Explorer release doesn't work either. A bunch of backed up apps failed to start, so you have to download it again, losing all the backed up data...
There is no App Launcher button. In the beginning, you get lost, and then you find out that all the apps you download and install get loose in the main screen. Well, there is a magic the scroll down the full program list, but I confess... with the status bar activated, you'll rarely will be able to do so. Then, if you want to uninstall some app, you'll have to do by App Manager. It's not a real complaint, but you have to get used with it, and it might take some time.
They messed up the proximity sensor. It just doesn't work, even it turned on in settings.
The camera... oh god the camera... It comes with 2 main camera apps - the MIUI's and the Cm7. No FC and Flashlight works in CM7 Camera App, so I'll not even consider this one.
The MIUI camera, they said they'd improved it. But maybe for worse. There is no zoom, even if you choose to use the volume buttons to turn it on or off. The camera image in display lags a lot, and it's common the app crash. So, I'm sorry, but the camera sucks hard. Two camera apps and none works.
A lot of itens, shortcuts and buttons and some apps are in chinese. So, if youre not a china guy or a Jedi, you'll have to do a "Russian roulette" to choose between Task Manager or App kill, for instance.
The MIUI Music App might be the second worst thing about the rom (losing only for the camera). It's beautiful, have a lots of settings, easy to use, have a EQ, a Fade setting... It would be one of the best music app for android.... but it crashes, and crashes a lot, crashes really hard and you have to pull out the batteries and reboot the phone. It conflicts with the Activity Launcher and... dead end, reboot your phone. In a lot of times it shutted down alone, by itself, and if I pulled out the batteries it won't restart. In the main thread, they say:
Have you Problems with Freeze/FC`S etc..please do one of the following or both:
Disable the EQ (Press the menu button from within the MIUI MUSIC APP and press "Disable EQ"), or..
Turn OFF fade settings in the settings of the MIUI MUSIC APP (press the menu button,
go into settings and scroll to the bottom, its there!)
if you try one or the other and still have the issue then try both.
Click to collapse
Damn! If you have related bugs in your App and you know it before it's release, you just don't release it with the bugged issues. You try to fix, and then when you can't detect anymore bugs, you release it.
They haven't added the setting "hold volume button to change the song while locked". This is outrageous. Now they have "Shake your phone to change song"... Well, if you're going to jog, make a cooper or something... well, you're screwed.
The "Updating" app (to update the rom) doesn't work at all. If you click "search for updates, a dialog box flashes into the screen and disappears. Than, you think that it might be a "sign up" issue. So, you try to sign up. It requires your cell number to send a activation SMS. If you're in Brazil like me, for example, there's no way you number can be accepted. Always "invalid" number. So, you go to the "e-mail registration", which, I think, should be to instead a SMS, it sends you an activation e-mail. So, you click there, and you're sent to a web page of registration... all in chinese.... so...
This is not a official complaint... I mean, this is constructive information about issues I've found... I know how hard people work onto this, by themselves... But, issue detected, more chances to fix it and build a flawless rom.
So, final conclusion:
If you seek for a good, clean and fast rom, this is, from far, the best of the customs.
If you seek stability and performance, all working apps etc, I suggest the ol' good original Sony Ericsons' stock rom.
Hope you like it.
Hugs for all!
Not fully Translated to ENGLISH... Many Places Only Chinese
This ROM still not fully translated to English..
I found Chinese in many places... RESULT UNINSTALL....
Please make a full English ROM...
ROM seems very good but cannot understand few Chinese characters.
...
then flash v4 and be happy (but without better speed, smoother, miui transition, beats, xloud, bravia engine, aroma installer and and and..)

M&M Team MIUI is Best
HI,
M&M MIUI is one of the best Custom ROM based on MIUI.
I love to use MIUI but I am not able to find the best one (based on 2.3.7) similar to Cyanogenmod.
I will wait for your perfect ROM soon... Probably V7 or V8.
tried this rom today... it's ok, but oodie's prime x miui rom is far better... much smoother animations, more stable, camera works better, music app doesn't crash...
try it, it has all the good things from m&m's miui, plus some things work better
Guys, please do not compare our rom with Oodies (Great ROM) because its total other ROM.
Our ROM based on FXP and is faster because we have new driver/new Kernel etc..
Yes its right, Camcorder is laggy in High resolution but we wait for fix from FXP Team BUT Camera works FULL!! (Zoom is not surpported in Custom ROMS)
About other Issues..V4 is the stablest ROM the actually, V6 is smoother faster and has many Features but little Problems with chinese Words and 2 apps gives FC but is fixed from Team Member Mao!!
BTW: About Animation we delete ICS Transition because it seems that the ROM is more faster like our old Version with ICS Transition!
Have a nice Weekend!

Our ROM would be much better if the people using it (1) Read install guides and FAQ's and (2) Learned how to use logcat to report bugs.... I am a little insulted by this review, because you are criticizing our work and many of your complains are to do with FXP and MiUI creators themselves. It's not our fault
Good rom camera video lag?
What the change to v7.1?
I had Oodie's MIUI and M&M's MIUI and they were great...Excellent speed and functionality but sometimes very unstable, i dont like MIUI interface so i deleted them.
Im trying FeraLab Roms and they are great! Best choice and that would be my recommendation
Smoot, lots of tweak, customization 100%, Xperia S Software based, Undervolt feature that provides more battery life...
Recommending a Rom should be made on that roms thread.... Do not discourage people from trying this Rom. ...let them try n see....
No hard feelings pls

I have not moved to Android 4.0 so far mainly due to the camera issues. Now it seems the chefs have finally resolved these issues and there are a few ROMs out there that are 'fully working'. I have tried a few of these and am fairly impressed so far - I have managed to import the ROM into the DSIXDA kitchen and add my own apps & customisations etc - so a big thank you to everyone for your work.
In my testing I have hit an issue with the Internet Calling functionality (SIP) in that I cannot make calls - I can receive them but cannot make calls. I have tested three different ROMs so far and all exhibit the same behavior (not ROMs I have cooked; ROMs I have downloaded - Blackout 3.0, Sabsa 3.0). I have two DHD's - my everyday one that has a 'stock' Android 2.3.5 ROM (3.12.405.1 rooted with my own apps etc) and this works fine so I know it is something in the Android 4.0.x ROMs. It appears to be the SIP proxy authentication that isn't happening with the 4.0.x ROMs although I haven't gone through the Wireshark traces too deeply yet.
Does anyone else use Internet Calling and have it working with Android 4.0.x?
Andy

Erm thanks for the reply, however if you read what I wrote I have two DHD's both with the same SIP configuation - the one running Andorid 2.3.5 works, the one running Android 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 does not. Both DHD's are on the same WiFi network via the same Access Point, the only difference is the version of Android.
'Just tested with Nik Project X and the behavior is the same. Has anyone got an'official' Android 4.0 device that can test this? i.e. is it just an Android 4.0 issue or an issue specific to the DHD?
