stuck on initial huawei logo - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I was using miui 2.3.30 with 5.5.0.4 cwm.
I decided to try the new ics miuis around, so I updated to 2.3.5 original through dload method.
booted ok, installed cwm again by copying over recovery.img to .cust_backup/image.
Thing is I lost so much time, I wanted to go back to my stable miui. went to cwm, wiped, and restored my nandroid backup. after restore, on 1st boot it turned off.
Now, pressing power on, after huawei's logo, turns off.
vol+ power, it gests stuck on logo forever.
vol+, vol-, power, goes to pink screen even with dload folder on card.
in any of these situations, adb sees no devices.
am i definitely screwed?

Far from it
But you tried to go back to your froyo miui while you have gingerbread (2.35) kernel. This can only be done using the dload method.
As you understand you must use a sd card with the appropriate files inside the dload folder. You have two choices.
1. Download the overseas file for 2.2.2 from here http://www.mediafire.com/?kgg7kper9hjvhi0 and after installing CWM restore your nandroid backup.
2. Download the overseas file for 2.3.5 from here http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDQxODE= and after installing CWM using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728 download and install the miui version you prefer from the Ideos X5 U8800 Android Development threads.
Either way you must use a fat32 formatted sd card with the dload folder in the root directory. If for any reason it wont start the update process try without the battery using the usb cable. Again if it fails try as a last step the following:
Take out the sd card and put the battery back inside.
Then connect the phone with a usb and wait to see the battery charging icon.
Afterwards disconnect the usb, take out the battery, put the sd card back in, connect the usb and try again to flash the dload folder using the two volume + power buttons.

thanks for the reply halman.
i eventually read in another thread about trying to update without battery and it started immediately to unpack. i honestly was out of ideas already.
nothing worked, and everything hanged
i learned the hard way why you need to install official 2.2 or 2.3.5 to flash different roms. i guess it's like flashing a .32 rom into a .35 kernel phone. it's never going to work.
in the end, removing the battery and plugging only the usb cable saved me.
EDIT: i don't get it. i downgraded to 2.2, booted fine. rooted and installed cwm 5.5.0.4. booted to cwm and installed the miui version i was using before. it installs fine but hangs on boot. i've tried wiping everything several times but doesn't seem to work.
why doesn't it boot? i'm back on 2.2 (b138), with 5.5.0.4 but my miuiportugal_u8800_2.3.30.1_AIO_Signed.zip hangs on 1st boot. now what am i missing?

You should use 5.0.2.6 instead of 5.5.0.4 in froyo.
Sent from my u8800-aurora-ICS using tapa 2-5

but i was already in 5.5.0.4 before. maybe i updated cwm AFTER i was already using miui.
you're saying 5.5.0.4 isn't good to flash miui 1st time, and that i should try 5.0.2.6?
i'll never understand completely how this works
EDIT: damn using 5.0.2.6 for flashing back my nandroid backup didn't work either. this is really starting to piss me off.
EDIT 2: Finally!! had to install from fresh, nandroid backup also saves cwm lol

Glad you finally got it
Regarding the CWM and the nandroid backup you should never use different type of CWM from the one you had when you created the backup. The 5.5.0.4 (Blefish) creates differnt type of files from the 5.0.2.6 (Genokolar). That's why your backup couldn't work with 5.0.2.6

[Q] First blue screen, now boot loop.

Hello XDA-devs forums,
I'm having an issue since yesterday.
I have rooted my Huawei Ideos X5, and it ran fine for a day or so.
However, when my battery ran out it shut down into a completely blue screen.
When I tried booting it again, this just showed me a blue screen as well.
Now, I fixed this issue by connecting the phone to my PC after booting it with the Vol+ and Vol- pressed.
(So you get the pink/purple screen)
However, when I opened the phone on my PC, all I saw was a "239 MB" "empty" space, and it should have ~2GB..
I placed a backup copy I saved of my "image" folder in that 239 MB storage, and it booted.
However, today I hooked it up to my PC again to see if it magically changed..
And I couldn't access the 239 MB space anymore.
When I tried fixing the issue with a reboot of the phone, that just caused it to get stuck in a booting loop.
So now I'm stuck with a phone that keeps trying to boot itself,
and I can't access it on my windows PC.
I can, however, access 4 different folders of the phone on my linux notebook.
Now, my question is: can someone with a good understanding of problems like these please help me out?
I'm getting kind of fed up with it, as I've only got the phone for 2 days now.
Thank you in advance, and thank you for taking the time to read this.
Have you tried removing the battery for 5 minutes and then putting it back in?
After this, what happens when you press VOL+ and Power?
How about if you press VOL+, VOL- and Power, without the USB cable?
Hello Katu, thank you for posting.
Regarding your questions:
Yes, I have tried to take out the battery for 5+ minutes- it didn't change anything to the situation unfortunately..
If I press VOL+ and Power at the same time, the device boots into recovery mode.
In this I have tried to format the device in order to reset it to factory defaults, but this did not help either.
When I press VOL+, VOL- and Power, the phone boots into the pink/purple screen.
Can you try a custom recovery and a custom rom? I want to see if your onboard flash is borked.

I had the same when my phone got f*ucked up. Put the image folder, than download official rom, like b138 and install it. then check your imei. There is a change that it will be 0.

Well, I used an original ROM:
U8800 V100R001C00B136(Overseas General version)
And that resulted in the boot.img being corrupted, so I can't even overwrite that anymore.
Also, this is what I see when I hit VOL+, VOL- and Power at the same time to boot into safe mode, and connect it to my PC.

I installed the official B136 rom, and after it rebooted, it would just hang on a black screen.
(it used to show the IDEOS or Android logo when it booted)
Hmm mine came with this Rom
U8800 V100R001C00B135SP01 ( general )
Looking at your name you're from the Netherlands ( so am I )
where did you get this 136 version from ?
I would try to put this one on it
You have to put the 'dload' folder into the root of your SD Card,
then boot into boot-loader, after that it'll automatically flash back to the stock Rom.
1 Format SD card
2 On the SD card, create "dload" folder
3 Put the unzipped Rom into "dload" folder
4 Then boot to bootloader (pink screen)
Yes, mine came with that version as well.
However, I couldn't find it anymore and thus downloaded the version I said earlier.
Also, I did everything as you described, except step 4.
You have to boot to recovery instead of bootloader. (VOL+ and Power)
Anyways, I managed to get ClockworkMod's recovery.img on my phone,
and from there on install a custom ROM on the phone, which magically got it working again - even though it didn't work earlier.
Thank you for reading my thread and taking the time to reply to it.
My issue has been resolved.
just for the record, flashing a stock rom is different from flashing a custom rom..
the 4 steps described by Gman2oo6 is the correct way to flash a stock rom (and it is written clearly in the document that is in the stock rom zip file)
[edit]
step (1) is not a necessary step though..
Yeah, I noticed that.
What I did was format my SDcard with FAT32,
and put a custom rom (update.zip) on the SDcard.
I then booted ClockworksMod Recovery and installed the custom rom from the SDcard.
When I tried installing the stock rom, I just followed the PDF file's instructions that came with the stock rom.
hey i udated to GB 2.3.4 (official)and i didnt like the it cuz the wifif ddnt work and the bluetooth also the DATA so itryed to downgrade to 2.2.2 original official and it did the 2/2 steps intalled and when it restarted it did not want to turn on all that happened was it vibrated and thats all so i left it on like that and when the battery died i plugged it in to the AC and the LED turned on red and the touch kkeys also but not the screen so i really NEED help!
Try to turn it on with lead connected but no battery and see if you can start it.
My battery also went dead flat this morning and I couldn't get it started at all till I tried this. Once I got it started the only thing I could do was quickly pop in the batery and let it charge. Just leave off the cover till you get it going.
I have to add that I did not have the problem of a failed update to deal with but it may at least get you started
i tryed it
nope nothin good happened all that happens is a blank screen with nothin on ,LED is off and the touch keys are off. it justz vibrates and when i put the battery it turn the LED on to red and the touch keys turn on but then like 5 min later the LED and keys turn off

ok heres what i did i wanted to upgrade my phone to the newest version GB 2.3.4.So what i did was download the update and i followed the installation steps i successfully updated to Gb 2.3.4. so like i was checking how it look and the new feature but when i wanted to go on the android market i went to setting and turn on the wifi and it said Error and then i tried the Bluetooth and it said Error also so then i put my SIMs card in and i was like imma use DATA then and when i restarted my phone it had service but no HSPA+ or Edge or GPRS so like i just hatted my phone from their so then i was trying to root it but iddnt know how to do that so like i read this website and i got the UPDATE.APP or 2.2.2 AT&T did the same steps of the installation of BG 2.3.4 and it went to the process and 1/2 stepp good it passed and then 2/2 also passed it installed it and when it said Successively Installed it said Restarting and the scrren turn of and it vibrated and thats all that happened and i left it like that for the whole days and nothing happened
Do u got any idea?
When i connect it to my laptop it says installing drivers .then its says sucesfully installed drivers ready to use. so then i got to Device Manger and i check what has been installed and their it said USB Human interface device and HID-compliant device WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??
Not sure about the HID (human interface device) probably just the way windows sees the device for interfacing with it. With regards to the not booting I have read a lot of people saying that you need to factory reset and clear cache after the upgrade/downgrade. With the phone off, turn it on by long pressing volume+ and power on button till you get the blue recovery screen and from there you can reset factory/ data and also clear the cache. from what I see this should clear up the problem and start up. Please read this thread, it may help you somehow..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728
Hope this helps a little

[HELP]U8800Pro Bricked?

Hi,
I believe i bricked my brand new, just-out-of-the-box U8800 Pro. I will write the exact steps i did (in other words i will write what you SHOULD'T do!):
1. i entered the pink screen and copied the official recovery.img (5.0.2.6). then i tried to enter the recovery menu but it didn't work. it just showed a blue screen and that's it.
2. then i copied the unofficial recovery version (5.0.2.3) and it worked. i made a backup and flashed cm7 using the recovery. i did not reboot and wiped data. after that i rebooted the phone but it did not boot. it was just showing the huawei logo.
3. then i wiped everything again and rebooted. when i entered the pink screen mode there was no image folder nor any files. i could't access the recovery. i searched the forum for a solution and found links to 4 files (amss.mbn, boot.img, EMMCBOOT.MBN, recovery.img). i copied them to the phone but still couldn't enter the recovery.
4. on that same thread i found something about flashing U8800V100R001C00B138SP04CUSTESTC205D001(Esthonia Elisa). i copied the /dload/UPDATE.APP and UPDATE_CUST.APP files to my sd card. then flashed them by pressing VOL+ VOL- & POWER buttons at the same time. everything was looking nice... it said unpacking.. then installing.. and right after it said COMPLETE the phone restarted and since then it is showing just a black screen.
5. when i pull out the battery and insert it back the phone just vibrates but the screen doesn't even blink or something. it's like completely dead.
in sd card i found sd_update.log file:
"notesdld_file_ptr != -1) ! update.app have updated! start cust update ! SD download finished!"
if anyone has any thoughts, suggestions or info i would be very greatfull. thank you.
the rom B138 (Esthonia Elisa) is meant for U8800, not ur U8800Pro..

hi, can someone help.
I've tried to install update 2.3.5 for u8800pro (second one with bug fixes) to my u8800pro, but i did something wrong. Now the phone didn't work.
1. I've copied step1 file to SDcard. that's it.
I,ve got to menu-stetings-sdcard-upgrade from sdcard.
upgrade started, then phone rebooted, but touchscreen is not reacting, also senso buttons. also it says that there is no sim card but it is in the phone.
I have no image of old system.
I think that what i did wrong that I copied only Step 1 file in Dload folder of SDcard (in upgrade there were also Step 2 and Step 3 files, but i didnt put them in SDcard Dload folder)
2. Then i've downloaded original Stock rom for u8800pro. Via computer i deleted from SDcard dload folder and then created new dload folder and copied stock rom (2 files).
Took off batery for 5 min., then pushed vol +, vol- and pwr buttones.
Got screen android system recovery (3e) with 4 options.
but i canot do anything from that point. I can't choose from theese options (buttons are not working), vol- or vol+, or pwr button not reacting.
maybe someone knows how to recover my phone to original stock or make something else to work phone?

[Q] Dont get past huawei logo

Hi
I upgraded my phone to 2.3.5 and after that i flashed the auroraICS ROM. Before upgrading i made a backup using CWM, and now after i used the recovery option in CWM i wont get past the huawei logo after i turn the phone on. I cant get back into CWM either it only goes to the huawei logo. Does anyone know a way to fix this? If so i would be very happy xD
So you went back from ICS to stock 2.3.5 by recovering your 2.3.5 backup using CWM, and then it wouldn't boot properly?
Do you have anything important in that backup that you want to recover, or do you just want to get your phone clean and working again?
In any case, have you tried putting an official update on your memory card and "upgrading" with the usual method (holding both volume buttons and power button at boot)?
If that doesn't work, are you able to access the pink recovery screen by holding the same buttons without the dload folder on your memory card (though you may need the card inserted)?
If so, connect a USB cable to your computer and see which folders you can see. In my experience, Windows has only seen the /.cust_backup/ partition, while (CrunchBang) Linux has seen four automatically, including the internal SD memory. Copying a dload folder to the internal memory and using the normal upgrade method without the external SD card inserted could work.
I used the backup to get rid of aurora and just get normal stock rom. I tryed to "upgrade" back to 2.3.5 using a dload folder and pink screan and it worked! Thank you! A "thanks" to you sir! Glad i didnt have to send my phone in for reparation xD

[Q] Pink screen- no update to stock rom

I use cm7 for a while and want to install aurora ics, copied dload file to sd card.
I turned on phone while holding +- and power button simultaniously.
Booted into pink screen but no update started.
I tried replacing boot and recovery image with original but makes no difference
Tutorial in aurora thread from cm7 to aurora doesn't work for me
Earlier i also installed miui once maybe this is the problem?
Can someone help?
Try putting the dload folder in internal memory or try to remove battery, plug USB cable and pressing volume keys and power before the phone boots...

Also, if this is the fist time you're updating to .35, I recommend you use this version of stock

I recommend you use the one from the link I posted, because any other stock 2.3.5 ROM and you'll end up with a locked bootloader and, because of that, with no access to usb in pink mode. that would be reversible, but requires more unecessary work....
To start the upgrade process you must have the UPDATE.APP inside a dload folder in the root of sd card. Any other file structure and the upgrade process won't start.
It should look like this:
SdCARD/dload/Update.app.

I had the same problem - no automatic update, only pink screen.
Then I tried another microSD-card and it worked.
Take off battery and connect to usb while pressing +-power buttons..that worked for me
Your phone goes to pink screen if sd-card doesn't contain only dload-folder.

Step1 worked perfectly and installed without problem but not step2.
Any solutions?

Ideos x5 brick

greetings...
I have a problem.
i flashed a rom that i dont remamber its name and my ideos x5 stoped working.
i turn the phone on, it apires logo and than it turns of.
i already tryed a lot of stock roms. 2.2.2 and 2.3.5 but when i run pink screen, it doesn't start installing... stays pink... even with out the battery.
it doesn't start recovery.
i tried to put the phone in charge but it doesn't apire the batery charging... does the logo loop.
i dont know what to do...
please help me.
Try to take off battery, and when phone is off connect the usb cable while you keep pushing the vol-/+ buttons. If doesn't start, then push(and keep pushing for a while) the power button, without to release the vol buttons.
Also make sure that you have put the update file in correct position on sd card.
You must make a folder with the name "dload" on the root directory of sd card and inside the update.app file.
i did every thing but it doesn't start installing the rom... it stays pink with and without the batery.
i toght that was the rom, but i downloaded all kind of stock roms but nun worked...
i dont know what to do more...
is there any way to access to the phone memory were are the rom files installed??
This is most probably means that your sd card doesn't detected, so loads the pink srceen mode instead of the update mode.
If you have pink screen unlocked(official froyo rom or 2.3 older version than B518 roms), then you can access some of the partitions from a linux pc. Then you can access internal storage and put the dload folder there.
im not realy familiarised with linux but i tried to atatch the phone on ubuntu with pink screen and it didnt apear nothing.
i think the rom that i used was 1 of this 2... i dont remember with one was. but i think it was the 1st.

Yep, that would do it. If you have a plain u8800 x5, those roms would have killed your phone good and proper. Most of those u8800 pro ICS roms flash bootloaders, amss and all kinds of things, not just system and boot.img. Unless you can get through the pinkscreen with a fresh SD card with the official B5XX update.app in a dload folder on it, you are looking at having to buy a new phone. Sorry man.
Try the official updates here: http://www.mediafire.com/#9adk7amyag95k
Start with b526 for gingerbread or b138 for froyo.
yessssss...
Thanks for every thing. specialy for the rom and specialy for the detail of the sd cards...
