WajkIUI v4 multiboot error - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I created the 3 img files with the multiboot manager app, flashed the ROM and everything went OK, but when I try to boot it, gives a red led twice and back to multiboot menu. What did I make wrong? Cm9 works perfectly. I am using MIUI Pikachu Edition in the NAND. Any ideas?

in multoboot thread, someonea said that when the folder´s name has more than eight letters, the second time, will give bootloop.
What´s the name of wajkiui v4 virtual folder ?

I already read that, so I named it WIUI. This is very strange
Edit: Managed to boot it. I only had to make the images bigger. Didn't work with 200mb system and data and 100mb cache. Made them 250mb system, 300mb data and 150mb cache and booted without problems.

have i bricked it??

hi, i have been reading up alot today on how to root and install a rom on my xoom, i rooted it fine then i went to the ics thread and downloaded the latest build, v17... put the zip on the sd card and went into recovery mode, choose to install zip from sd and installed it, then went to reboot device and it rebooted but came to a black screen that says android across the middle, its been on that screen for 20 mins now, help please lol
sorry... sorted problem, im guessing its bcos i wasnt installing google apps from zip too, sorry again
Honestly I have run into the same issues...hold down the volume up button + power...your Xoom should reboot.
Then you see the red Motorola logo wait 3 seconds and hit volume down...you should see "Android Recovery Mode" in the upper left corner.
Hit volume up to select....your device should enter recovery mode.
From here wipe data factory reset...wipe cache partition...then go to advanced...and wipe dalvik cache.
Then go to install zip from SD card and reinstall the ROM and Gapps and you should be fine, the first boot can take up to 10 minutes so don't panic...

No, don't be sorry. That was a great explanation.
I know you got it fixed but I will say this:
Always do a full wipe when flashing a new rom. In this case, the ICS build was a new ROM and you should have wiped.
Usually you do not need to do a full wipe if you are just flashing a new build of the same ROM (if you go to a new nightly for instance). Just need to clear cache/delvik and reinstall gapps.

[Q] Problem installing ICS roms

Hello XDA.
I have this problem when i try to install ICS roms on my HD2.
The one i've been trying most is NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9 V1.0.
I tried some other ICS roms as well though, just to see if they'd share the same issue (which they do).
Up untill now i've always been able to install non-ICS roms without any problems, but when i install one of these, i get stuck on a black screen with green "HTC HD2" text in the middle.
Since i've tried several android roms, i'm not a total newb at this, but I can't seem to be able to fix this.
Some specs:
Radio: 2.15.50.14
Using CWR 5.0.2.6 (tried older versions too, updated this one yesterday)
magldr 1.13
HSPL 2.08
If i can supply you with any more info, please ask ahead =)
And thanks in advance for the help!
Do you have a 200/220 mb system partition?
Could be you looked over it

i was not able to boot ics roms with my 150 mb partition. i used nand toolkit to wipe everything and rebuilded it from scratch with a new partition layout then it worked for me

In the Internal storage tab my of storage settings, my total space is 255MB.
Like everyone said, you need to partition the space as Tytung suggests for his ROM at least 200MB. If you are using the 150 MB partition from Tytung's Gingerbread ROM, then this explains why you are stuck on the boot logo. I went back to Tytung's Gingerbread ROM since I need to have a working camera/video and for some reason his ICS ROM gave me problems with access to the Gallery to see pictures that I have or took.
if i recall what i did correctly, i made my boot partition about 900MB, since i have a 32GB SD card
Dude.. the ext partition is one thing. The cwm recovery layout the other.
Ext partition in your case 900mb is for storing apps on a partition in ext3 or 4 format of your sd using an app2sd or datawsd script.
The cwm recovery layout is for taking some space from your nand(for ics im using 220mb, tytung says at least 200) to be able to flash the rom into your nand and start it without bootloops.
Try it. Install cwm and change the cfg file to 220mb system and 5mb cache.

alright alright i'm making progress here.
I did as you said and increased the space. I got slightly further now. instead of the green HTC HD2 screen, i get some colourful block animation; which i assume is the boot screen of the rom. It keeps looping tho so i'm not quite there yet..
I tried 400MB system tho, lets see if it works with 220

oh dear...
your hd2 has 512 MB NAND, then you HAVE to use something like:
system ya 200M
in your flash.cfg for CWM.
This is NOT the space of your SD-card!
Greetings.
Wolfgang
I realise that now xD Thanks a lot for the help, to all of you!
I just booted ICS, looks great =D time to have some fun!
Gave all of you a thumbs up! you deserve it
Same Problem
how to change the partition?? plz help, I am total noob... I am also struck at the green HTC logo in the middle
i suggest you use the HD2 NAND TOOLKIT
it has everything you need in a single app... google it "HD2 NAND Toolkit"

[GUIDE] Written CM9 Install Instructions

If you don't want watch a long video on another site, this is a simple guide to install CM9, if this is your first time and are totally new follow instuctions here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305891
If you already have CM7 then all you have to do is download the CM 9 and ACMEinstaller2, more info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452324
then.
1 copy the cm9 .zip file to the folder cminstall you created when installing cm7 of your touchpad and eject.
2 shutdown your touchpad
3 Hold the volume up button and press power button simultaneously. You should see a white USB symbol.
3 Connect the USB cable to pc and touchpad, the driver will be automatically detected and installed.
4 copy the ACMEinstaller2 file you downloaded to your desktop or wherever you want. Open up cmd as admin ( in windows) or root terminal ( in linux or mac). cd to the directory where you just extracted your ACMEinstaller2.
5 type
Code:
novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2
NOTE: windows users might have to manually move the novacom.exe and/or AcmeInstaller into c:\programfiles\palm folder and run the above command from there.
Once all done you will boot in to CM9. You can then flash gapps via cwm.
Hope it helps someone.
Thank you. This was a huge help.
Just a note: The ACMEInstaller that you download is a binary file already which means it does not need to be 'extracted' anywhere; just move it to the same directory as your novacom executable.

Yeah you have to flash gapps again in clockworkmod recovery but you need to install the fix after to fix calendar sync.
So flash this..

Installed using cwm a couple days ago. Alpha 0 means little to me... still far better than any gingerbread from out there. Did factory reset, cache, system and have been fine ever since. Such a relief to have a usable keyboard, UI, browser(tabs), and stability too. Trebuchet launcher is basically stock. Allows nice scrollable Widgets and resizing.
Thanks for writing these out, made it nice and easy.

I'm getting the same problem. My first install was through ACMEInstaller 2. Then I copied the other CM9 file from dalingrin's post and installed via ClockworkMod. Same issue. Here is what I am running:
used ACMEInstaller2

I have now re-installed via ACME2 for the fifth time. Now I get ICS to work but at random times i get a blue screen and need to reboot. Any ideas on how to fix the blue screen?
Thank you for the guide. Just wanted to share my experience. Was coming from XRON 2.9.1.
NOTE: My instructions are for people who have TWRP installed. I use it exclusively instead of CWR. My instructions also include a Market fix that allows the installation of tablet apps. The market will NOT auto update due to the modified market apk. I also say format /system, /data, /cache, and dalvik, probably overkill, but it works great. If you're not comfortable formatting everything, don't
Downloaded CM9 Alpha 0/0.5 from dalingrin's thread, here.
Downloaded Gapps from sprice5's XDA thread, here.
Downloaded modified Market apk from PhantomGamer's Rootzwiki thread.
Opened Gapps zip with 7zip and deleted Vending.apk and replaced with PhantomGamer's modified apk. Renamed to Vending.apk
Renamed MarketUpdater.apk -> MarketUpdater.apk.bak as PhantomGamer states in his thread.
Booted to TWRP, backed up my CM7 install.
Wiped data, system, cache, and davlik.
Flashed CM9 Alpha 0/0.5, flashed modified Gapps, flashed charger/system UI fix -> found in dalingrin's thread, here.
Rebooted. Welcomed by ICS goodness.
Synced Gmail account, opened Market and downloaded Reddita (Tablet Reddit App). Works great!
Thanks to dalingrin, sprice5, PhantomGamer and of course the CM team!
Everything is working great.

Need help changing ROM Criskelo 5 to liquid smooth 3.2

Hi Guys,
I am trying to change my ROM from Criskelo 5.1 (has speedmod kernel but dont think that should make a difference) to LiquidSmooth 3.2. Usually this is a pretty straight froward process but for some reason I just cant get past CWM. Here is what I've done so far.
Reboot into recovery.
Flash AbyssNote 3.2 (redtouch) and reboot into AybssNote.
Wipe everyting (inlcuding dalvik and battery)
Flash LiquidSmooth 3.2
On doing this the phone restarts - as is expected - but then it just reboots in CWM. I've tried various permutations of this (even tried wipes from CWM before going into Abyss) in the hope that it might work but nothing seems to work. Before this I tried to go Criskelo 5 to 8 and got stuck on boot screen.
Thanks God for nandroid or this would have become an extremely frustrating experience. Any ideas ?
EDIT: Used AbyssNote 4.2 and not 3.2 .... sorry about that

Have you try other ROM besides LiquidSmooth? Since it stuck in CWM, I suspect the installation script for LiquidSmooth is not compatible with Abyss 3.2 CWM.

I tried to update to Criskelo v8 and in that case I got stuck on the boot screen. Had to do a hard reset and get back into recovery manually.
Sorry about the confusion, I actually used Abyss 4.2 (which I got from the Liquid Smooth thread) so I don't think there should be any compatibility issues.
Go back to abyss42 and factory reset from within abyss42 (red menu). Also do cache and dalvik wipe.
Reinstall your custom rom.
And since you have a slow connection, there is a chance your files are corrupt.

Do a unzip -t <zipfile> to verify the file is not corrupted. As above post stated, it maybe a corrupted zip file.

Did all of that i.e Factory reset from within Abyss42, clear cache and dalvik wipe.
I guess I'll try downloading again but why I doubt that would fix anything since this is the 2nd ROM I've had the same issue with. Well not exactly same, in the case of Criskelo 8 it gets stuck on boot screen where as with liquid smooth 3.2 it keeps going back into CWM . Still worth a try though. will update tonight once I get to download again.
Anyway of verifying whether my files are corrupt or not ?

'fixed brick' - now always have to configure settings after boot

Hello,
bricked my defy a few days ago after rom flashing failed. Phone wasn't booting properly, always showing the big red 'M' letter. Fixed it via rds tool, roms are running again but they don't keep the settings.
After every reboot I have to do systems setup again (language, accout, time). It's like having a wiped phone.
What's going wrong? What can I do?!
Few odds:
- can't wipe dalvik cache in recovery. Something pops up very short, couldn't read.
- cannot install apps. Market doesn't start Download.
...
Flashed my rom+gapps again. This time market tells me there's not enough memory on my phone.
Anything's wrong with my recovery? How do I install a new one? Via sndinit again? Any alternatives?
Hi there,
I had exactly the same problem few days back when I tried to make my phone dual boot and wanted to run CM7.2 as primary ROM and CM10 as a test ROM. Experiment failed miserably and the CM7.2 was wiped out and on top of that CM10 was overwritten as primary ROM. Then the same problem as you. It was going through boot loop and every time I had to start the phone setup.
I had to flash SBF using RSDLite and root it again using superone click.
Then installed the CM7.2 again and then later flashed CM10 Nightly just on top of the CM7.2 with out wiping the data.
CM10 I used was Quarx one from Aug 25th and it works great.
I know I am not that smart but I try stuff so I can experience latest stuff.
Not sure if this helps but, let me know if you need more details.
Regards
Kalyan
