Logcat (help) - Nexus S General

I was interested in learning how to run a logcat. The only article that seemed to half help was the one below but it does not appear to be current. or I could be doing something incorrect.
Please let me know if there are better directions somewhere that I can read up on.

What step are you stuck on

I can't believe they send a new 16gb sd card with the replacement. I need to replace mine as well, it has cracks on the top corner of the screen.
Edit: do you have to send a 16gb card back in order to not have a penalty?

No you keep your old card battery charger everything only thing they want is the phone you even keep the old battery back

Ok, so im trying to root using the same method i did last time. but i cant get the drivers to install completely 4/5 install fine but: CDC Abstract Control Model (ACM) is stuck on Installing driver software. Adb says the device is attached, but offline. Any suggestions? Usb debugging is enabled.
Didn't you already have the drivers installed?

I just had mine replaced this week and on low brightness settings the screen seems to have a yellow green tone. Turn up the brightness and the whites are as white as can be. Any issues with your screen on the lowest brightness?

Battery never charges to full

Ever since I got my NS4G my battery will never charge to 100%, and the maximum it displays 97%.
Is this a matter of rooting and re-calibrating the battery?
The phone is completely stock, and I've had since the beginning of the month.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
thats normal.
only way to get it to 100% is switching on wifi hotspot while charging.
Working as intended.

Tapatalk does have a direct link to the browser and if I'm not mistaken I think 99% of all androids have a dedicated Google search button actually built into the device, very week excuse.

Replacement ns4g is freaking out!

I just update it to 2.3.7 then unlocked and rooted it. It will reboot its self randomly. It won't boot up all the time either, the boot amination will get suck then the phone will just sit there. I have to pull the battery then try again. It takes three battery pulls to get it to boot.
I have went back to stock and redone it but the new phone is just plain finicky. I've tried flashing other roms as well and no luck. Does any one have any suggestions?

If you have CWM flashed, then do a full wipe'(data,cache, and dalvic) and see if that resolves the issue
I've tried that when I flashed the stock rooted rom. I've also redone the process of going back to stock, locked bootloader and started over.
I also tried it for the hell of it and it does the same thing.

maybe formating system in CWM and reflashing. if that doesn't work, Call Assurion and have them send you another phone

Formatting system erases the whole file system?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
it will format the /system partition.
if you have cwm 5.0.2.0 then you will be safe if you format everything except wimax. leave that alone. just be sure to reflash a rom
Thanks I'll try that now and report back. Thanks for the help.

Dang bro, I don't know what else to do. If you got it from assurion as a replacement, call them and let them know that the phone they sent you keeps rebooting. see if they will send you a replacement. also you could take it to sprint and have them look at it. don't forget to return it to stock.
---------- Post added at 12:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:03 PM ----------
also can you post the log cat and dmesg. if its software related then there will be some sort of an error.
---------- Post added at 12:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:12 PM ----------
Run these commands and upload the txt files
$ adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt
$ adb shell logcat -d > logcat.txt
$ adb shell cat /proc/cpuinfo > cpuinfo.txt
$ adb shell getprop > prop.txt
I just reactivated my other nexus that I was returning to them. Its more usable then the replacement. Sprint said when they get one of the phones back they will send out another one.
Will they switch out phones being the new one they send will be my 3rd replacement?

See if sprint has a repair center in your area. They usually have it fixed or replaced in 2 days even if it's rooted etc..

dead Galaxy Note

Hi every one! Everything was ok with my GNote and for months with ics update. yesterday I tried to reboot it because the battery was empty after long time use. I connected the phone to the charger but nothing happens. I waited a few hours but nothing too. It does not pass to download mode and recovery mode too. I tried the battery on the GNote of my brother and it works and its battery does not help to boot up on my GNote. So the problem is on the phone. What is the solution please?
PS: i don't changed anything on the Gnote since Mounths
Thank you

Just a long shot, but is it a faulty battery connection on your device.
have you tried to flash another gb or ics rom?
Im guessing you run on stock ics, you could be superbricked if you deleted a big file from your phone, deleting big files could trigger the eMMC brick command. Just guessing here so i could be wrong.

Wrong.
Seems to be battery connection problem from your tests as it was said before. If your warranty is not void..should go for SAV.

Have you tried charging your battery in your brothers note, and then placing it in yours? If your phone boots, then its a faulty connector issue.

If it was a faulty battery connection, as seems to be a consensus here, than your phone wouldn't boot at all; yet you say that you can reach Download and Recovery mode.
It's something else.
