I have read whole general Section but did not find the answer I need.
I plan to use it as my One main driver for everything. Usally I need long battery life.
On my rooted note I have setCPU to run on low freq while screen OFF, Charging and On Call. I also Set to Screen Off when in call. Selling Note & Getting Gtab 7.7
1. Can I do Same thing on Gtab 7.7 - SetCPU
2. Does it support Screen Off With time delay or On Phone Call etc.
I Also have to Leave my phone aside every 20-30 or for hour. On Galaxy note If I was close it will ring like regular phone or I have missed call,SMS reminder reminding me with blinking screen or beeps etc. I see Many people reporting sleep problem on Gtab 7.7.
3. So If its Sleeping will it ring?
4. How is the lag or latency to answer the call?
5. May 4-5 Ring are over and hanged up before Gtab 7.7 Wakes Up. Is it like that ?
6. Will it be able to Remind missed Call,s While Screen off or Sleeping? I think this same question can Apply to Clock or ALARMs etc.
7. To Let the Call Comes in do you have to have the Phone app Open? or it POPUP
8. When Call Come in Can it be Answered by pressing button bluetooth?
Thanks In advance.
Easy answer, 7.7 works exactly the same as android phone.
Except it have no led notification (some other phone like S2 have no led for notification too) so you may need app like "noled" to make it show notification on screen (if you want).
I'm using my 7.7 as a phone.

My 7.7 (P6800) has been my faithful daily driver since January, no issues whatsoever! Battery life is phenomenal with average/moderate usage. Easily goes a couple days without recharging for me.

Assuming you're using a stock kernel with both devices, anything you could do with SetCPU on your rooted Note (N7000?), you can do with your 7.7; same chipset and all (assuming your Note is the N7000, and not carrier branded.)

Not sure what you mean by Screen Off... Is this an app you're using? The screen timeout settings can be adjusted in the 7.7's settings menu.

I haven't encountered any kinds of sleep/wake-up issues with my unit. I have had a few instances where I missed a call, and the device didn't even ring, but that was more a function of being in a weird signal area than a problem with the device itself (that problem had happened to me before with plenty other phones, so not related to the hardware).

What, like how many times will the person calling hear the line ring before the device itself rings? Usually about 2 - 3 rings on average, but that's normal for most GSM phones anyway.

Well, the 7.7 doesn't have any other indicators apart from the screen itself (no blinking LED's or anything like that) if that's what you mean. However, you can just briefly turn on the screen to see your indicators (you don't even have to unlock it either). That said, if it's a blinking indicator that you're after, there are apps for that.

Timeout screen off supports. Also, if you are really talking to your 7.7 like you're using a phone on phone call, the proximity will turn off the screen when your face is getting close, so as to avoid buttons being pressed by your face.

This must be the light sensor. You can switch off the sensor:
1. tap on the battery symbol.
2. In the neu screen tap again on the battery symbol
3. go to the second tab and switch it off

Is there an app that will turn off the phone's screen when it is faced down?
I've been looking everywhere to find such and app and have not found one.
You shouldn't need a tweak to accomplish that. When you put the device face down, the proximity sensor will be blocked and will turn off your screen automatically.
(Unless you put it face down on an overhead projector surface!)

I'm no programmer but this seems like it would be relatively simple, I'm surprised it doesn't already exist (or if it does, a quick search for me turns up nothing).
it would have to use the light sensor as well as the accelerometer, though. If you ever look at your phone while laying down, the phone turning off while upside down would not be very useful

That feature only works when you are on a phone call.
It doesn't work outside of the call function unless I'm missing something. My screen definitely stays on when I put it faced down.
The reason I'm asking for an app like is is because I've been listening to audiobooks as I go to sleep. Since the speaker is on the back I leave the phone faced down on my bed. I'd like the screen to automatically turn off when I do that to conserve battery life. (I know I could just hit the power button, but I'd rather have something do it automatically).

yes, but that doesn't disable the lights, so its not an answer to the question, but possibly the only workaround if not possible. i don't have a "naked" phone so i'm also not sure if without a case the trackball wouldn't be in the way of facing it down
i'm interested in this too as i'd rather have my phone face up at night vs. down so that instaed of having to grab my phone to disable an alarm, i can just reach over and swipe it down or snooze...
R
I run a clock on the phone at night. I got desperate enough last night to carve "endcaps" out off styrofoam to cover the lights...not very elegant, but works for now I suppose.

He said the lights keep his wife up, so I would think it is a solution since the light would be facing downwards and thus be much less visible.
I was going to look in to this since I already know how to control the leds via command line... but I would rather not re-invent the wheel.
Search the market for leds hack (put the s in leds or it won't find it. I believe it's also a protected app so make sure you're on a rom that shows it). Run it, select Nexus 1. Done.
The trackball led stays on at first but just hit the power button and it turns off. I know it says it only works for droid and nexus1 but I just tested it for you.

I put my phone on a dock, and it serves as my alarm clock. I like to be able to see what time it is, so turning phone down is not an option. Right now I slide the top of an old phone holster over the top inch or 2 of the phone just to block the LED.

Wow, I have to say I envy you guys who get to sleep in such dark rooms.
For the past 20 years of so I've been so close to bright street lights that even with heavy curtains something as dim as the LEDs on a phone isn't even noticable (much less be enough of a bother to keep me awake...).
It's one of the things I absolutely love about camping, getting to sleep in actual darkness.
I know I'm not offering any solutions here, just saying that if you can even notice the LEDs on the phone at night, be thankful that you don't have much light pollution to deal with.

The phone I just turn upside down though so it's never been an issue.
Luckily for me my wife hasn't said anything about my Hero keeping her up. But then again, I don't charge it while I sleep. My old phone had an LED all the way across the top of the phone and blinked every 15 seconds. I had to turn that one upside down or cover it with clothes.

I don't think you can turn off the haptic feedback that occurs during bootup. It's more or less a system check. I have tried already, but can live with that one instance.

As I said, it feels like something 'moving' inside the A7.
I just want to make sure there is nothing wrong with my A7 because my 30 day return policy is running out, in case I have to return it.
P.S. In the Settings, there is a (green) check mark next to the Haptic. I unchecked that and still feel the 'vibration' (moving inside the A7), when turning ON/OFF the A7.

Thanks so much for your time and patience. You say "That's because there IS something moving."
What is moving?
Funny thing is that it baffles my grandson because he has used the Edge and Pandigial tablets and he said when he turned them on or off, there was never that feeling of vibration when they were shutting down. He just wondered why this A7 would vibrate (feeling of something 'moving' inside the case) after he has turned it ON or OFF. Shuffle - would that be a better word?
Just can't describe the exact feeling we get when we turn it on and off. Guess best word would be = short 'vibration.'
He says he thinks something is loose inside the A7 and we might have to send it back as being defective. I told him that everyone here says it is NORMAL, for it to vibrate when after turning ON/OFF. A little more vibration when it has been turned OFF.
I don't think this has anything to do with "Haptic" which is in the Settings (turn On/Off)? Do you?
Does yours do the same - the vibration when turned ON and OFF?
It's just a little motor wizzing inside the unit. It runs when the device is turned on because the system is probably just doing some basic function checks and it's also to let you know the device is on/off. Mine does the same...they all do. All tablets are different so this may not have been the case when using other models

Hi guys just wondering if you noticed this strange behaviour.
I noticed a quite frustrating delay after a call when i take the phone away from my ear, it takes 2-3 sec for the screen to turn back on.
Has anybody experienced the same?

That seems strange as it is something really basic that you expect to work in a phone of this price range. Moreover it's something you come across quite often.

You can just turn off the sensor in the call app, if you want your screen to be available just after a call.. I don't see the problem.. but my delay is also just around a second or so.

you can also set the power button to terminate the call and you will not have to wait for the screen to turn on...
Reading the data from an analogue sensor (such as the proximity one) is always tricky... You need time to level out the values coming back from it, then determine that, over a period of time, the distance is suitable to enable the screen.
Only then can it be turned on etc

Yeh my i8000 had no delay with the proximity censor.
But the screen delay seems to be everywhere. Turning on from sleep, time to adjust to ambient light and obviously the proximity sensor after pulling it away from your face.
Its not a major drama for me but I agree that it would be good to not have the delay.
I just noticed that when I use Skype the sensor works really well, meaning there is almost no lag.
I'm confused..

Yes! Very annoying.
Yep! I was commenting on this the other day. To be honest, I make and receive very few calls from my phone but when i do, I feel the rage rising inside me everytime because of the sensor delay.
It's the small things that annoy you the most.
As mentioned, you can opt to have the power button hang up the phone. It also does not turn the screen off, so you can continue working on the phone.
This is actually under accessibility settings, not call settings.
Menu -> Settings -> Accessibility -> Cancel the prompt -> Tick 'The power key ends calls'.
I also find the lag on waking up very annoying. Even once the screen has woken up, it takes a second for the touch input to be recognised so the pattern unlock only registers my last two or three inputs depending on how quickly I start swiping. I have to enter the pattern again. Very annoying.

I also have this problem, although I'd estimate it only takes about 1-1.5 seconds for the screen to come on.
I do however not think that this is a sensor problem, but rather a software problem.
Type *#0*# in the dialer, and press Sensor.
The phone will now vibrate once you trigger the proximity sensor. And it seems to be very fast and responsive here.
i have the problem using Skype...when i start a call it turns automatically the screen off ! i need then to push on home button to get out of skype...very ennoying...
last time i made an order online, my bank sent me a code by phone and following the instruction, the voice asked me to push the number i hear...i simply could not !! the screen was completely off ! and i could not succefully purchase online, my order was cancelled !.....due to this problem of screen..i think it is seriously ennoying and must be fixed in an update firm or something .
Agreed, this is a very annoying and unnecessary delay. Especially coming from an iPhone, where the screen turns on instantaneously when removed from the ear.
Hoping for a fix.
im ready to pay to get this fixed
