Hi I got an arc and realized that its from Rogers and requires paid-bootloader to unlock.
Are there any roms, that dont need unlocked bootloader, cuz every rom I go to their all requiring unlocked bootloaderssss.
Thanks alot. I'll be keeping on searching.
wrong section dude..any question go to Q&A..
Team rom. U need root. Install cwm something from the play store. N flash the zip.. u could find it in the developer section..
Other than that, go to apps n theme and pick up what changes u like.. like flash xperia s apps n theme, notification toggle and battery mod
Hope that help

You can install any rom is base on stock 2.3.4, such as Arconium, Xperia Mod v8, Aniking. I think maybe 2.3.7 also work but I don't sure .
Everything you need to do is root. To do that, your phone must be in firmware .42 or .58
After you download the app "Xperia CWM auto installer", it'll help you install recovery. Then you reboot into recovery and flash the zip file of rom.
Sr my English
Just pay to unlock your bootloader. I did. It doesn't cost a lot and it's really worth it. you will get so much more from your phone and you will probably save money because note you will wait longer to upgrade.

i think soo
Try miniCM. It's the most stable rom, atm. Compass dont work, but everything else does.
Issuse with sd card safe to remove is on all custom xperia series rom, due to custom kernel is not finshed yet, bootloader not cracked yet.

some of the things you mentioned aren't actually bugs, it's just we can't get flash and n64oid working on our devies, ony any roms, because the armv7 cpu is needed, these apps don't support armv6 devices. btw, you can install n64oid on 2.3 roms, however the app gets FC after loading a rom.

MiniCM is the best right now but dont jump to RC2 yet . there are a lot of other roms developed using minicm base like the nexus rom which have been uploaded by the devs . spend some time reading through the development forum to get the idea.
They all have the standard bugs tho. Elelinux is supposed to best in terms of random bugs but minicm has everything working including camera and hd video recording.
P.S - gingerbread roms are also really good but there are some sacrifices to be made there .
Just wondering if there is a way to use droidwall or any other firewall software on my xperia i have installed it.. but it gives me an error message something to do with iptables... i have a rooted my fone xflash tool and updated all the required software such as busy box and superuser.... it was even JIT enabled.. however wen i tried installing something from the development section that enabled the use of droidwall via xrecovery.. whenever i rebooted it kept looping on the sony ericsson boot screen... so i managed to bring back to stock.. but i am still wondering if it is still possible to use droid wall on my x10i?? any solution??

You cant flash recoveries the standard way, and you cant use rom manager with the play atm, i think the cm7 kernel comes with a custom recovery though

Hello!!
I'm a new user of Android and a couple of months ago I bought the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8.
THE CONTEXT:
I tried to upgrade my phone, rooting it and installing Android 2.3.7 (GingerXperiaV12) following a guide I found in youtube
After doing those steps yesterday, it worked fine.
I put to charge the battery all night, and this morning when I start the phone there was a message error telling about an error in Launcher Pro. I ignore it, and press continue so I don't remember very well what it said exactly (but it wasn't a long text, it pretty much said only that). Well, since the phone worked I didn't pay attention so I used WIFI and tried to install some apps like Skype, Barcode Reader or some Japanese Keyboard Input (like: google japanese input). The problem came when I tried to reboot the phone.
THE PROBLEM:
After pressing the center bottom and selecting "restart", the phone completly freezes when the text "Sony Ericsson" come out in the black screen. I can't access to the OS at all.
WHAT I HAVE TRIED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM:
I tried waiting several minutes and extract the battery to reboot and try again, but it still freezes when the "Sony Ericsson" come out.
I tried accesing to the xRecovery (which I installed in order to root the phone), pressing several times back botton, but it doesn't work either.
Please can someone give me a help with this? I have read somewhere I might try installing the launcher again. Do you think that is the solution? Is it possible?
Thanks for advance
hello my friend .. i dont know about ur problem but for me launcher pro really sux and i didnt like it at all .. if u want a good launcher then download (Go launcher EX) from market .. and yeah also if u want good roms , i mean the best for x8 u have to use GingerDX or nAa minicm7 2.1.7 , u will find these roms in the dev. section . if u want my opinion about them i prefer nAa cause it is very smooth and perfect dual touch here the link .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19691591
just follow the steps and read everythink and do it at ur own risk . welcome to the x8 forum and have a nice day .

Using nAa kernel / miniCM7 2.1.6
Hello Acudor.
Thanks for the reply and for the recommendation.
Unfortunately until I don't solve this problem, my cellphone won't work to try that.
ok from what i understood from ur post is that u cant even access recovery and cant access the phone either right ? .. well that means the phone is bricked , and dont worry it happened to me 2 times before , well u can rescue ur phone , just go to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12442257
follow the steps and ur phone will be back for u .. the reason for ur phone to brick was the rom u used my phone bricked when i used gingerxperia too , but now iam using nAa rom and kernel for 2 months now and never encountered a problem . dont worry again about the brick , it happens

Just use PC comapnion from SE and repair you phone....and after that root your phone again and install rom( for rooting and cwm the best tool is x8toolbox)
Ok
Thanks for the replies. Thanks god I could make it works!
Just a couple of notes:
1.- The only way to access to the Xperia x8 was via flashing it.
2.- PC Companion didn't work at all. Even when I could access to the phone via flash, at last PCC gave a error message saying that there weren't any update to install. It seems SE doesn't support this phone yet lol
3.- What worked efectively was Flashtool (second option in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12442257)
But the ROMs listed in step 2 of that guide (X8 Shakira E15i_2.1.1.A.0.6_generic.ftf, X8_1.6_clear.ftf, X8_2.0.2_China.ftf, SE x8_2.1_rus.ftf) didn't seems to work to me. So instead of those, I searched and put into the "firmware" folder of Flashtool this oficial ROM:
http://www.multiupload.com/VKNI6Q6ET5
that I found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454954
What I'd like to ask now, just to not have the same problem again is, should I go for nAa for my Xperia X8?
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484
It seems difficult breaking bootloader for a noob like me though xDD
You can use GDX without any problem with stock kernel. So, its not mandatory to open bootloader but its recommended if you want to try CM9 based roms.
If you try to open bootloader, please go through the threads on xda and make sure that its safe to open it. Some phones are not safe to open and you may get your phone bricked. Please check the number behind your battery on the phone and make sure from xda if its safe. Also s1tool tells if its safe or not.
Hello!
Well, thanks for your support I could revive my phone!!! And now I could install the nAa ROM!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU!
If it's possible I'd like to ask the last question, I've tried to install from Market an application for writting japanese keyboard: Japanese IME Kaede v3
[http:]//es.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/japanese-ime-kaede-ime-v3_dvn(dot)html
But the Market say "This device is not compatible with this element"
Is it possible? I mean, the official firmware I was using before trying to install this custom ROM allowed me to use it without any problem.
Have you ever got a message like this? Have I got to do something?
Thanks again

Your problem wasn't the launcher it was that you did something wrong while installing it that caused you to brick it. Always remember to factory reset your phone before and after flashing a rom just to be safe and to avoid errors.
GingerXperia V12 is quite old, go for V19 or V21b those are quite alot faster and worked really good for me, they also come with the Sony arc launcher so that's good. You also don't need to unlock your bootloader for those roms.

Can someone find a working reloaded ICS for CM9 FXP 130?
Sent from my Play using xda premium
U mean can someone make a reloaded ics rom based on fxp 130 for our play. U could do it its easy.
Message the reloaded ICS dev and see if u can port his rom and if he can help u. Then download a reloaded ics rom for a device similar to the play (screen wise) then add and remove items from the /system. Don't forget to change the boot animation (if needed) and the update script.
If u make this rom give credit to FXP, Lightningdude, the reloaded dev, me, wedges and everybody else who has helped.

Lol im sorry to confuse you, but i mean RELOADED ICS SETTINGS, nit the complete reloaded rom, the creater of it has a version for all devices on CM9, you just have to flash it, but on the play after i flashed it, systemui.apk kept force closing, so im asking if someone could find/kindly make one for our play
