I'm pretty sure you cannot root without using a PC. Flashing ROM's is easy but you need to root first obviously..

Try z4root & you are rooted.

I stand corrected, z4root is available on the Market and will automatically root and install busybox. XDA link is here:

ClockworkMod ROM Manager is also available on the Market and you will be able to flash CWM Recovery from the app itself. After that you are set to go with flashing custom ROMs.
Seems it wont work due to having 2.2.1 firmware and something about the recovery not being 2e

I've tired to use GingerBreak for rooting my device it hasn't worked is there any other way I can root. Also just wanna check with GingerBreak do I need htc syn to do it?

You have to downgrade first. You can do that and then root/recovery w flashtool.

you have to follow the steps exactly as is in doomlords guide. yuou need the gb ready flashtool or the newest availiable

Connect cable straight after vibration and click root AFTER TEXT APPEARS on Flashtool.
If no text appears, you will need to install drivers, in other words just download SEUS or PC Companion to get the necessary drivers.
Then retry.

Ive tried a few methods to root this phone, superoneclick dan rosenberg one and no luck linking denied, had a quick search on net and found out about different versions of phone V10c etc the one i have is V10q uk version anyone encountered root trouble and managed to obtain root status on this version if so how?

i use v10q like u, and i use SuperOneClickv2.2-ShortFuse. LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN37AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.8.1
Google these file and u will be allright.
Only v10c root with spectrum method with me

I can't get this thing rooted for nothing...but my first issue is getting the drivers installed?
