Really in need of help please

Hi all looking to find out a way to root and install a custom rom using just my phone as dnt have a pc at the momment any help is much apreciated

I'm pretty sure you cannot root without using a PC. Flashing ROM's is easy but you need to root first obviously..

Try z4root & you are rooted.

I stand corrected, z4root is available on the Market and will automatically root and install busybox. XDA link is here:

ClockworkMod ROM Manager is also available on the Market and you will be able to flash CWM Recovery from the app itself. After that you are set to go with flashing custom ROMs.

Seems it wont work due to having 2.2.1 firmware and something about the recovery not being 2e

if i get my phone rooted on a stock rom will i get the original OTA. from google...cuz we dont get a OTA on htc becuz i came from htc to google.. thats y plz help...

you dont need an ota with any nexus. when its out, you can flash it manually, but youll lose root. or you can flash one of the hundreds of rooted stock roms thatll be posted the day the ota is released

r u rooted... so i dont need to worry abt the update ill be able to do it manually too???

obviously you wont be having any problem so up to you

the only reason i was nt rooting my phone becuz i was worried that if i got root i wont be able to get any update from google

You can root the phone then make a backup save it then you can flash whatever you want when the ota comes out restore your backup
From my BLACKED OUT N4

chances are is if youre rooted, youll probably do the update even before an ota would get to you. sometimes you can get the update before the ota comes out.

one thing more if i root my phone n then install ubuntu for any other rom. n after some time 4.3 update release comes out. so hw am i going to update my phone to 4.3... plz help n reply

Restore your stock backup or flash stock imgs
From my BLACKED OUT N4

ok so nw a rooted bt there is some prob i made a back up of my stock rom.. n then i thought of keeping it save in my desktop too bt wen i mount my phone wth my desktop its nt showing the back up file... y is that so... n then i go to recovery n then bk up n restore it is showing me the back up file ... wt is going on plz help

Im in foxhound ported version in n900
Im also facing this problem in vn rom

It's possible Fox Hound hasn't worked properly for your device, try flashing back to Stock then trying FH again see if it works.

Wifi problem

Hi, is There any chance to install new modems without odin? I have a mac computer so I cant Flash via odin. I have tried heimdall and kies, none of them works because my Phone wont respond in the computer. Tried even With Googles file transfer.
The thing is that im a bit selective so I only found one rom that fits me, vision x II. Everything works perfect but i cant activate or use wifi. I really need my wifi cuz i have no signal at my Damn concrete apartment!

You can try do a FACTORY RESET:
- Make a Internal Memory backup
- From your home screen press the apps icon in the lower right corner.
- Find and press the settings icon.
- In the upper end of the screen press the accounts tab.
- In the bottom of the next screen press the Backup and reset button.
- Press the factory data reset.
- Read the info on your cell phone screen and hit Reset device.

You can use "mobile Odin Pro" to flash full firmware , kernels , modems , recoveries and more. ..

If you flash any modem , make.sure it is compatible with the firmware version otherwise you will hard break you device!!.
One more thing ,,the moment you flash it ...your device will reboot to download mode , then in this point you have to hold the power button for few second till it turn off . After that turn it on , the Samsung logo will show up ....and it may take time untill it move to the mobile odin mode ,,,, just wait for the process...dont ever turn it off again otherwise you may soft break your device
Also mobile odin only work in stock kernel otherwise it will not detect your device . Thats why it won't run in custom rom that only run in its custom kernel like cm or what ever rom ... this is the disadvantage
But the advantage is that.. it will never trigger the flash counter .

Hye guys, I bought note 2 from malaysia. Been using it more than 3 month then my phone constantly freeze and one day, it brick overnight while I leave it to charge. When it turned on it just stuck on samsung logo. Hard reset is undoable as it only show "Downloading" in the recovery while in download mode it just as it is. My phone is completely stock, no root ,no flash ,nothing, just stock. So I try to flash through odin but it always fail with "no pit partition" no matter what firmware version I use, another usb port ,another computer is brought up the same result. The phone can charge fine with red light indicator and battery animation. Does anyone with the phone have the same symptom and manage to fix it?Im in uk and cant rma as my phone is malaysia only warranty from SME?

it sounds like your emmc brick... if that is the case, in my knowledge u have to change the motherboard... but maybe other members have different idea to solve your prob...

Hi,
I try to root my note 2 N7100XXUFND4 using Odin v3.09. I follow all the instructions but my phone still not root ( I checked using root checker and I got this popup said superuser stop working). I'm a newbie can someone show me how to root my phone.

Just faund this thread..newbies here....hehe..using dn3 v5.2 + phoenix kernell v1.0 ....very smooth and no lag anymore..
