I've killed the internet trying to find people who will help me but I can't
I installed Gentoo on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, but how could i set up wifi for this network?
My network name is BK1D7, and it is unsecured so I have no passkey set. (I had one, but later disabled it). I tried to edit /etc/conf.d/net for wireless, and it seems to attempt to connect but then fails. How must I set up etc/conf.d/net and wpa_supplicant.conf ?
(*this is gonna be myTouch 4G related in about 40 minutes when I take a photo my Galaxy Tab using my myTouch 4G on ICS ;D provided someone can help me *)

Hi all,
I'm tring to connect my galaxy tab to internet through wifi tether on milestone and the tab can't see the milestone wifi network.
I know for sure that milestone's wifi tether works fine because I can use it with my laptop.
Anyone has the same issue?
How can I solve?
hi
i used the wifi hotspot of my desire and it worked great.
what i miss is the capability to find and connect to Ad Hoc's
(they just dont appear in the networks list on my tab)
maybe the milestone is creating a ad hoc.
Yes it is..
How can i make a different network type and fix it?

Same here bro... ill look into it.
Yeah. Am having the exact same issue as well.
wifi problem (can't see tether)
Hi guyz,
Just opened my brand new Galaxy tab , I'm having the same issue: he doesn't see any tether network (from my windows mobile 6.1 htc p3650) neither any "ad hoc" network created from my laptop pc sony vaio.
On the xds forum I found this solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7711198&postcount=6
(originally created by "daveba")
and here there is a video with the procedure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5o5WlyA7WI&feature=player_embedded
Hope you (and me) will solve with this trick,
please report me any problems /other ways to fix
Thank you, good work
faredino
(more: I'm not sure that the galaxy tab can connect to other wi-fi network since I just unwrapped it and there are no other wifi net nearby!...hope it's not a problem of MINE TAB only!!! :O )

yeah this works. i tried this last week.
My MyTouch 3g doesn't connect to ANY Wi-Fi... EVER.
I turn on the Wi-Fi, it searches, sees the known networks, tries to connect, and then just says "Disconnected".
I think it might have been a result of me flashing a Hero ROM with some kind of Wi-Fi patch that had something to do with a patched BFS file (about 10 ROMs and 5 months ago). The reason I think this is because I flashed that certain Hero ROM, applied the patch, and then the Wi-Fi stopped being able to connect to my home Wi-Fi.
Anyways, I've been living without Wi-Fi on my phone for like 5 months now... Lately, the lack of Wi-Fi on my phone has really pissed me off, and I was hoping somebody would know something about fixing this issue on my MyTouch 3g.
P.S. I'm still able to tether (using Wireless Tether for Root Users), so it doesn't make sense that I'm not able to CONNECT to ANY Wi-Fi hotspots if I'm able to CREATE a hotspot myself.
Any/All help is greatly appreciated.
Bump.
Anyone have any ideas?
It happened after I flashed this ROM (can't post links cause I'm still new)
http : // forum. androidspin. com/ showthread. php?t= 2456
and I think the this was the file that corrupted my WiFi:
"wifi fix"
http : // bit. ly/ dkDoKK
Does that file have anything to do with changing a BFS and is there anyway of reverting back to my stock BFS if it did?
Bump. Anyone have any input?
Hey guys,
I been trying to tether my unlocked iphone 4 4.01 running on tmobile tzone to my samsung galaxy tab.
I have tried using MyWi to create a hotspot for the galaxy tab but it doesn't recongize the hotspot.
Any suggestion why it might not be working or is there something wrong im doing?
I have tried it with my friend samsung vibrant and it works perfectly tether to the galaxy tab.
thanks in advance

Get a microsim to normal sim adaptor and stick the iPhone sim in the tab
So are you trying to create a mobile hotspot with the Tab and connecting your iphone to it?
If so, first, do as the post above says, then on your Tab just go to settings>wireless and network>Mobile AP to create an access point so you can connect your iphone to it.
well im actually trying to do it the other way around.
my tab i bought it without the wireless plan.
here an update
my iphone currently is running on tmobile w/ the tzone service, but I have not been able to have the tab recoginize my wifi tethering off the iphone.
I did go into the tab and changed out the wap file, mention in another thread that i read. And that was able to show up my ad-hoc off my iphone. For some reason now, the tab doesn't want to connect to the iphone wifi.
For what it's worth I can't connect my iphone4 to my galaxy s 19000. Asked a genius at an apple store and he told me the iphone cant find and wont find the galaxy s to connect with the mobile ap program or vice versa with myfi(wi?)4.0 and it cant even connect to it with blutooth. Bye bye iphone.
Sgs doesnt detect ad hoc wifi that the iphone is giving. . .

Google "adhoc fix galaxy tab" and you will find instructions. It involves downloading and overriding a file with root privileges. I have my T-Mobile Tab receiving wifi from my iPhone.

i was able to override the file on the tab and tried running on mywi 4.0. it now shows up that i have the option to connect to the iphone. but it still not able to connect and give off any wifi signal.
any other ideas?
Thanks for bearing with me here guys I really want to get to the bottom of this..that said let me give a clear explanation of the problem
I used z4root to root both my EVO and my Galaxy tab so I can use the wifi tether app to avoid the addition $30 a month fee. I've applied the change to the wpa_supplicant file in the Tab to allow the Gal Tab to see WiFi and I am using the WiFi tether app (which it does see) This is where I have the problem- although my Gal Tab sees the signal coming from my EVO it won't connect to the EVO....When I try to connect it says "Obtaining IP address from AndroidTether(adhoc)" .....it's trying to get an IP address from my EVO that it cannot seem to obtain. So here is my 2 part question:
Is there a difference between the way unrEVOked 3 and z4root root my EVO and would that difference between the way these root the EVO possibly be the reason the Galaxy Tab won't connect to the EVO with the WiFi tether app?
Thnaks guys for your patience.
I finally got to the bottom of this problem,...today the Wifi tether app developers updated the app addinginfrastructure support for the EVO. This completely solved the issue.
I have a tmobile galaxy tab running on Roto JMI v2, and I dont have any cellular/data connection now. I have a winmo phone where I have wi-fi router installed which has internet available.
My galaxy tab can never see the wireless network which is being broadcasted by my winmo phone. I know my phone is doing the right thing as I can connect my laptop to it and surf the internet, but my galaxy tab does not see it.
I tried adding it manually, but still no connection.
Did anyone face this problem? Is it something to do with winmo phones?
I bet it's an ad-hoc network, you'll need to edit wpa_supplicant.conf
Not Winmo specifically, but ADHOC networks in general. Had to replace the WPA_supplicant with one that would allow adhoc connections. I've done that and it works fine. Might be the same issue.
There is a topic on this board about connecting your GTAB to a OG Droid or Droid X and it has the links to the file and the process...
