[Q] "HWUserData" under /data/ disapeared - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi all
a friend of mine while installing a rom removed the battery (blocked on ideos after)
after alot of attempts we could boot aurora (and some other roms but all with the same symptoms)
when searching for the internal sd card (""HWUserData"" i belive it is the emmc) we couldn't find it, like the partition was corrupted or not even created
when plugged to the pc without the external sd card the computer simply reads a removable disk with no file system and 0 bytes (please insert a disk into "removable disk") is what is shown when triyng to open
without that we cant use de "dload" method to install stock roms and re-do everything
is there any way to restore the internal sd card?
edit: also on clockworkmod the emmc doesn't mount and without anything mounted only a cd drive is shown on the computer as if like no cd was on the drive (supposed internal storageg)
thanks in advance for any answer

Internal sd-card in aurora is /mnt/sdcard1, not /HWUserdata and you can't access it via USB in Aurora.

[Q] Ext SD issue: help!

Forgive me if there's a forum about this posted somewhere else on xda... I couldn't find one coz few other people seem to be having this issue.
My problem is that I can't write more than like 7mb to any of my 3 my ext SDs (on the phone or on a computer via usb) without the phone pretty much crashing & needing a reboot.
It never happened back when I used GB... And I've had the same issue on all three ICS ROMs I've tried (CM9, F4K r4 and DarkyROM v11).
Anybody had the same issue or an idea on how to solve this?
Ext SD issues
Can you be a little more specific? Which ROM are you currently using? What are you trying to do? Are you installing apps, transferring data to SD ... ? Where are trying to store stuff? Which directory? My Galaxy S external SD is named emmc in File Explorer.

Currently using DarkyRom v11 (Black Edition) with Semaphore ICS 1.2.5s Kernel.
I am simply trying to transfer files (Mostly media files: jpeg, png, mp4, mp3) from mnt/sdcard/media to mnt/emmc.
The transfer progress bar just hangs and the phone becomes unresponsive to the point where I need to reboot. Reading data off the card works 100% fine.
The memory card does work if I remove it and connect it to a computer via a card reader / SD slot.
I was wondering if it wasn't a hardware fault on the phone (seeing as not many other people running ICS on their i9000s have the same problem), but then someone I know picked up the exact same issue when he flashed CM9 on his sgs.
Ext SD problems
If you are having /datadata problems try here for starters: 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1541942' (CM7/9). There is a summary of cause and cure, along with further references for you to follow.
Initially I had problems understanding the file structure of my rooted phone. Using FtpCafe I tried to download large map files into sdcard/external_sd/. Big mistake, as I quickly ran out of space. Moving those files to emmc/ sorted my problem. Go to Settings->Storage to quickly check how things stand re internal and external storage.

EDIT:
Sorry for the above, but have only just got your update. Like you, I had trouble transferring files on the phone (about 1GB), but put it down to memory problems and the limitations of the phone. Much safer to connect to the computer in USB connection mode and move the files around from there. In my own case, I had my files backed up to the cloud and the computer; so I simply deleted the unwanted files and downloaded directly to the external sd card from backup.

Yeah, that script is for the low storage notification... an issue I had months back but fixed.... Don't think it's relevant for my current problem.
Running out of space on my internal storage is exactly why I want to be able to move files to my emmc... But that's what's not working, The phone won't let me copy to emmc.
Thanks for trying to help

you need to use https://play.google.com/store/search?q=move+to+Sd+card&c=apps
or menu > settings> applications> storage use > application you want to move to SD card
you cannot cut and paste from internal phone
But to move from one SD card to another, just connect usb, once usb icon appears on task bar
open your notifications drawer > touch usb connected > touch connect storage to PC
you can now open both SD card in your PC and transfer anything you want to any SD card

I know how to transfer files via usb but like I said earlier, the phone crashes when I do that too.

GB to Aurora U16 - Now Ext SD unaccessible?

I'm a complete noob, so go easy PLEASE, (also I've trolled the pages extensively and can't find the same issue - I hope this is not a duplicate request).
Just loaded Aurora (U16) over stock GB on a rooted U8800 (started with 5.0 exp and updated 16 over the top) and superficially at least, it seems with a fair degree of success.
Only problem is that I can't install any apps from the ext sd - I can turn on /off usb storage and the contents are visible to file manager and the pc - It just wont let me install any apps from the sd. Is there some simple setting fix - or have I stuffed the installation up??
Second, issue and maybe related - the internal sd won't show up on the pc when connected via usb, although I can't see any dia consequences if this does not work?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Try fix permissions in cwm.
About internal memory, it's a known issue on Aurora. There's only changing priority method. Which means changing a line in building.prob and it mounts internal only not the sd.
Ah, i'm not sure about mtp thing.

[Q] SDCard on TWRP

Hello guys!
I've installed the CM11 on Milestone 2 and when device reboot to install GApps, the TWRP Recovery did not found the /sdcard. It shows /sdcard (0mb) on top of the screen.
The second point is: Why it doens't recognize the internal memory as usable? When I connect the phone to PC it only shows the external SDCard (2gb instead of 8gb internal memory).
Can you help me?
Thank you.
I can only answer your second question. The milestone 2 uses its internal memory almost solely for system stuff and apps (data). You can put stuff on it if you're rooted with root explorer or equivalent apps, it just won't show up in media players and gallery for example.
Also there have been guys that tricked the storage to let some of it appear as a virtual sd card, it's somewhere at the development forum.

[Q] OTG Cardreader's root Location in Rootbrowser?

I got a otg-cable which has a USB port and a SD/micro SD card slot. It works fine (I can browse files when tapping on notification icon, card is empty/formatted), however, does anyone know where it's root folder is located? I can't find it with rootbrowser or root explorer.
Tried /mnt/ but there's nothing related, not even ext-sd, only the usual SDCard (internal storage), and i tried most other folders, just can't find it...
I want to backup my flashable (ROM) files from internal to my SD card without the need for a PC (which i currently don't have).
I'm using CM13.0 Snapshot on a G2-d802
anyone??
Just a thought: If the drive is indeed mounted and accessible, you could try the "df" command in Terminal Emulator to see a list of partitions and their mount points.
I have already found it. Apperantly i did not get through all folders in "/mnt". It's root-folder is located at "/mnt/media_rw/XXXX-XXXX/". I'm not sure how i messed that the first few times.
Thanks for your reply though, at least you took the time to actually make one

Cannot access NOOK folder (the internal memory)

Hello everyone,
newbee here!
Well before I go on I want to tell you that I searched all over the thread but didn't find similar problem. Anyway if there was please send me a link to see how can I solve my problem.
I have a NSTG which was rooted before I had bought it. How it was rooted and which ROM version it was I do not know. One week ago when I opened it to continue reading a book it booted and started the registering proccess. I realized that something wrong has happened to it. The registering process failed and I followed instructions from this link to restore it to factory state.
Now I have stock ROM 1.1.5 but I'm looking forward to root it. I came across the ROM 1337 and I want to use it for the rooting proccess.
First I have to manually update it to 1.2.1 (following the instructions from B&N site) and then to root it but my current problem is that I cannot access the internal NOOK folder from my computer.
I did the restore proccess two times because I thought I did something wrong but with the same results. I even had a chat session with B&N support clerk and he assured me that I should be able to access the internal NOOK folder from my PC. Don't worry I didn't tell him I had a rooted Nook. So now I cannot copy the .zip file to the internal memory and manually invoke the update procedure. When I insert an SD card into the reader I can access it but not the internal memory.
I remember I could do this before the problem appeared. Anyway in My Computer in Windows 7 64-bit I can see the SD card and another drive. When I try to open that other drive I get a message "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk F:"
I tried to insert my reader in another computer but the problem remains.
I'm posting a picture of the partitions:
So some help would be much appreciated!
I guess I have posted in the wrong section.
Please, Mod,
move my previous post to the "Help thread"
/system/etc/vold tells the UMS what to mount
It should mount /media and /sdcard as two disks.
You should be able to see this as two disks in your desktop file explorer.
Does /media even exist?
