I'm probably stupid but how do you turn the dictionary on?
Every word I type shows as a spelling error and there is no auto correction

I don't think the "stock" dictionary that comes with Aurora is very complete.
I haven't looked in to updating it manually or anything since I don't use autocorrect anyways, but i think some of the popular keyboards from the market has good built-in dictionaries that might do the trick

Am I missing something or did the new update not include the GB keyboard. Im running gingerbread rooted and I checked the settings, it's not there.
would the gingerbread keyboard apk for 2.2 work with the new update? if not is there any way right now to get the GB keyboard?
The ota keyboard is the GB keyboard. It is just themed white.

I don't like some of the word prediction changes they made to it. Like after I type a word and I want to use the suggestion bar to press a punctuation mark and instead it shows a random word it thinks I might want instead of punctuation options.

And yes the GNITE Keyboard you installed on 2.2 will work just fine. Im using it now.

Voice dictation does not work, rest everything fine.
No root needed.
Go and activate keyboard in settings first.
Download

Some force closes here. But rest is fine.

I just tested it out and its nice, looks good and I have been typing very well. No problems yet on my phone. This apk is from AndroidPolice I think, where they also mention it FC's on tablets.
Is haptic feedback working, not working on mine.
Edit: Go to advanced Settings and change vibration duration setting to a value you want.
It will be set to -1 by default.

Think u hold the comma down for language

works well but... double tapping the caps key force closes every single time.
Long press sets caps lock, double tap crashes it.
This should be posted in themes & apps. New version without caps issue here.
Smart Keyboard PRO is my default keyboard, how does this compare?
Cheers
Doesn't automatically capatilize the letter "I".

What now? Does the haptic feedback work or not? I've downloaded somthing similar in SGS1 thread and it had only the haptic feedback issue.

Haptic feedback works after you adjust the duration in settings. It can't last -1ms so it has to be changed.

i like it, except for the missing smileys on enter long-tap
I just want to know is there any keyboard which is better than Swype in matter of recognition and word deletion/correction?
ICS keyboard is the best one I've seen so far for android, as I'm a really fast typer coming from IOS (vest keyboard over all), I installed ICS keyboard from the play store and set the auto correct to aggressive so as I type every few words my eyes just look to the screen to see if the keyboard auto correct wrong any words then I correct it manually or just continue talking.
PS. ALWAYS READ WHAT YOU TYPE BEFORE HITTING THAT ENTER BUTTON, BECAUSE WHEN YOU DON'T, WE GOT SITES LIKE DAMNYOUAUTOCORRECT.COM.

I beg your pardon but ICS Keyboard doesn't support Swype/Swipe input.
SwiftKey 3, is good.

+1 for swiftkey

Swiftkey or swype
SwiftKey 3 rocks

Swiftkey 3 has the best word prediction and correction that I've seen.
But the current Swype beta is close to it.
Both will get better the longer you use them
I can enter in text faster using Swype beta than Swiftkey.
Even faster again if I use the S Pen.

Swift key is one of the best in terms of prediction. But sometimes I find it a bit laggy.
I'd liked Swift Key 3 but it does not support swyping input on keyboard guys.
I liked the way it recognizes and corrects words.
I used to love Ultra Keyboard...but it doesn't work properly now on ICS....gets force closes...
I prefer Swiftkey 3. My flatmate prefers swype.
Pretty much everyone I know uses either swiftkey or swype.
new swype beta also has word prediction.
I have found that the standard ICS keyboard is best primarily, in addition to it being very accurate, It allows for speech recognition where you do not have to speak all at once- you can take breaks between words without any problem, whereas swype does not. Be sure to enble personalized recognition in settings as it does not do this manually. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE AND I DONT EVEN HAVE A WEIRD ACCENT.

I meant alternative keyboard other than swipe, I never did get used to swype, but that's just my opinion.

After so much suggestions towards "Swift Key 3", I am on it now.
I'll try to get used to it.
But I am now really fast with "Swype".
Don't know which to use for a long time yet.
Apparently, the 4.0.3 Samsung keyboard provided a handwriting input mode but not the 4.0.4 version. Can anyone suggest a keyboard that supports handwriting that will work on 4.0.4?
May be go keyboard

I installed Go Keyboard this afternoon & I'm not having any luck finding a way to enable handwriting.
(Trying to dig up a 4.0.3 stock keyboard too.)
Maybe try this one ?
But it's a paid app and I haven't tried it myself.
Im on 4.0.4 and still have the handwriting keyboard, I just tap and hold the settings icon and can select handwriting or voice input.

Weird. Maybe the P5110 ROM is different or it could be looking at the screen size/resolution & altering its behavior. I *am* on a custom ROM (RomSwell) but it is a mostly stock, deodexed 4.0.4 so I don't think that is an issue. If I can squeeze out the time, I'll try to load a pure-stock 4.0.4.
FWIW, I didn't have any luck dropping the 4.0.3 apk into /system/app. The Samsung keyboard didn't even come up as a choice when I did that. I installed Swype Beta late last night and it looks like it may be a solution for me, I just need to do some more testing.
Hello all. When typing a txt msg every time I want a space I have to double tap the space button to start a new word. Is there a way to disable this. I'm using 3x4 keyboard on predictive. I noticed if I just type hello and wait 2 seconds the line goes under the word and when I hit space once its fine. But when typing fast I have to double tap the space otherwise its just coming up as one word. I'm unable to find a setting to turn that off.. Never had this on the s3. Really annoying!!!
Please help
Dude, as simple as it is get another keyboard, or check your current keyboard settings.
