Handwriting keyboard? - Galaxy Tab 2 General

Apparently, the 4.0.3 Samsung keyboard provided a handwriting input mode but not the 4.0.4 version. Can anyone suggest a keyboard that supports handwriting that will work on 4.0.4?

May be go keyboard

I installed Go Keyboard this afternoon & I'm not having any luck finding a way to enable handwriting.
(Trying to dig up a 4.0.3 stock keyboard too.)

Maybe try this one ?
But it's a paid app and I haven't tried it myself.

Im on 4.0.4 and still have the handwriting keyboard, I just tap and hold the settings icon and can select handwriting or voice input.

Weird. Maybe the P5110 ROM is different or it could be looking at the screen size/resolution & altering its behavior. I *am* on a custom ROM (RomSwell) but it is a mostly stock, deodexed 4.0.4 so I don't think that is an issue. If I can squeeze out the time, I'll try to load a pure-stock 4.0.4.
FWIW, I didn't have any luck dropping the 4.0.3 apk into /system/app. The Samsung keyboard didn't even come up as a choice when I did that. I installed Swype Beta late last night and it looks like it may be a solution for me, I just need to do some more testing.

[Q]Better than Swype?

I just want to know is there any keyboard which is better than Swype in matter of recognition and word deletion/correction?
ICS keyboard is the best one I've seen so far for android, as I'm a really fast typer coming from IOS (vest keyboard over all), I installed ICS keyboard from the play store and set the auto correct to aggressive so as I type every few words my eyes just look to the screen to see if the keyboard auto correct wrong any words then I correct it manually or just continue talking.
PS. ALWAYS READ WHAT YOU TYPE BEFORE HITTING THAT ENTER BUTTON, BECAUSE WHEN YOU DON'T, WE GOT SITES LIKE DAMNYOUAUTOCORRECT.COM.

Swiftkey or swype
SwiftKey 3 rocks

Swiftkey 3 has the best word prediction and correction that I've seen.
But the current Swype beta is close to it.
Both will get better the longer you use them
I can enter in text faster using Swype beta than Swiftkey.
Even faster again if I use the S Pen.

Swift key is one of the best in terms of prediction. But sometimes I find it a bit laggy.
I'd liked Swift Key 3 but it does not support swyping input on keyboard guys.
I liked the way it recognizes and corrects words.
I used to love Ultra Keyboard...but it doesn't work properly now on ICS....gets force closes...
I prefer Swiftkey 3. My flatmate prefers swype.
Pretty much everyone I know uses either swiftkey or swype.
new swype beta also has word prediction.
I have found that the standard ICS keyboard is best primarily, in addition to it being very accurate, It allows for speech recognition where you do not have to speak all at once- you can take breaks between words without any problem, whereas swype does not. Be sure to enble personalized recognition in settings as it does not do this manually. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE AND I DONT EVEN HAVE A WEIRD ACCENT.

I'll try to get used to it.
But I am now really fast with "Swype".
Don't know which to use for a long time yet.

Swype on nexus 7

Hi everyone,
I just preordered my nexus 7, but was wondering if out comes with Swype. I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but just wanted to check. If it isn't already there, can someone check to see if the free beta works?
I know the Toshiba excite 7.7 has Swype, so maybe out would be possible to rip it from there? I love this keyboard, looking for solutions, thanks

That's great. I used to have an Acer A100 and it didn't work with it, I'm guessing the resolution was incompatible.
Now we just have to figure out how to keep Swype on there after the beta days are over...
The beta now supports all resolutions. Using it right now on my Kindle Fire.

yes as pointed out before the new beta supports all screen sizes and resolutions....got it working on my hp touchpad before selling it, so swype just need to update their app to support jellybean
it worked good on kindle fire not the greatest but it worked. I just hope it works better on the nexus 7 then it did on the kindlefire

I agree. I get frustrated with it on the kf and often flext9 instead. But on my phone, Swype is awesome.
I may try the new monk keyboard as well...it is weird, but i think it will be lighting fast once you get over the learning curve.

I have both keyboards, and much prefer Swype. I find it to be much faster since your not going key by key, but rather creating whole words. There is a slight learning curve for Swype, but as long as you give it a chance for a few days, you'd probably get used to it. The latest beta really makes it useable, although I only use Swype in portrait mode. Fyi - I have a hardware keyboard on my phone, so if I enter landscape mode, it's probably less work for me just to flip open the keypad and get my typing done. I tried Swyping in landscape mode yesterday and found it quite awkward, maybe I'm just not used to it.

Thanks for the reply! I will probably try Swype first because its input method is just amazing! But who knows how well it will work on a tablet.
Swift key and swype beta and thumb keyboard all are compatible and work great with the N7.
I change it up every so often, they are all good. Stock jelly keyboard is also real good too...

The million-dollar question is, does it recognize the tablet-ness and give you the resizeable keyboard button? Or does it give you the phone version?

I'm using SwiftKey Flow.
You can flow couple of words at the same time, which is awesome, and you can enter ?/! very fast!
Samsung keyboard. Only one with swipe, handwriting and number row. AFAIK.
For me the Samsung continues input is a very superior option. Even with fast and sometimes inaccurate swiping it manages to get it just right most of the time. One of the best keyboards I've used. It's just so fast and accurate.

hacker's keyboard for me the best!!
Samsung keyboard memorize your frequently used sentence even. You enter the first word and it will keep predicted the entire sentence. Love the default one with continues input
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
The default keyboard is the best IMHO. Every other keyboard, irrespective of its benefits, leaves out the benefits of Note 2: lacking in s-pen support etc.
The only irritation with the default keyboard is that there is no autocorrect. I have to manually choose the correct word from the list and it doesn't autopick the selected words when space is pressed.
For me samsung the best.
Anyone find a way to enable Swift Key or Swype tablet modes? One of the best options on the default keyboard is that it has one-handed control. Swype and swift key have this mode as well but only for tablets. I miss easily swyping symbols. Perhaps the only way is to root and change the DPI?

I am now using the Kii Keyboard and loving it. Very fast and accurate typing with lots of options to customize.
I prefer stock JB 4.2 Keyboard. I canys stand stock overcrowded/cluttered keyboards.

I prefer gn2 default stock keyboard.. I write a lot in Serbian, and i can use swype then.. When im writing on english i use handwriting or prediction.
The numbers above keyboard are Major ability why i choose stock keyboard
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
I have been using SwiftKey since it first came out. Would try others but always came back to SwiftKey. For typing or swype, I just am not getting comfortable with the stock keyboard but would hate to lose the s-pen button. I will be a very happy camper if SwiftKey adds support for the s-pen.

SwiftKey 3 for me, since I type both English and German text, and the keyboard recognizes (and makes suggestions for) both languages at the same time.
Been using SwiftKey 3 tablet version for a while now.
Have to say it's the best I've ever used.
And it works very nicely with my 240 dpi mode.
Also nice keyboard when in landscape mode
I alternate keyboards randomly!

Swype is the reason for me to stick with Android, but their latest beta is ****ed up with dictionary issues, so I tried latest SwiftKey Flow Beta, and it has some issues as well, so for now it's Samsung's default keyboard with continuous input. But I'm keenly waiting for the next beta of Swype, which is coming shortly as per their mod.

Use the swift keybord trial from play store it is awesome specially the split mode stock keyboard is no where near when it comes to split mode compared to swift
Hackers keyboard. Its a tossup between that and stock. Having to switch to symbol sucks, whereas long press serves as a shift key on hackers. Hackers obviously lacks handwriting input, which is a nice feature on stock. that's the only thing I miss with hackers though.

I'm quite happy with the Swype keyboard. It has both a Split and Mini keyboard built in. Im dearly in love with the mini keyboard, only gripe is that I can't move it around the screen as much as I would like too. Being able to Swype with the pen and not trying to hack out letters is key.

I have just installed Kii keyboard from the market, I usually use Swift key and would only have installed any new keyboard similar too it.
All I can say is, this keyboard will give Swiftkey a run for its money, it is currently in beta and available in the play store and has similar features with a ton more. You can choose various keyboard styles, predictive suggestions similar to Swiftkey, you can add arrows and make numbers independent of long pressing.
I am currently using the ICS layout. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. The developer also has an active thread on xda forums, I think it was under android general and in the apps section.
One thing to bare in mind is that you have too enable Swype functionality through the settings and is labelled " gestures" I'm still messing around with it as there are tons more options that I still need too discover.
